• How can I run BitchX when I don't have ssh or shell access?

  I just installed an IRC bot, B****X (Don't ask, I don't know - the real name is not censored). I did all of the configuration and chmod'ed the pl files to 755, but running it won't work. My host does not allow SSH/Shell (which is how the documentation says to runs he script), but just going to the URL usually works because of this. However, I get a 500 (Internal Server Error) error. • Java - Trying to log into website with invalid ssl certificate using httpclient

  I'm trying to log into site with invalid ssl certificate and I have the following code. I bypass the the invalid cert by using my all certificate and then bypass the invalid Hostname by using hostnameverifier. • Problem binding action parameters using FCKeditor, AJAX and ASP.NET MVC

  I have a simple ASP.Net MVC View which contains an FCKeditor text box (created using FCKeditor's Javascript ReplaceTextArea() function). If the Ajax form is submitted again a second time (without further changes) the testBox paramater correctly contains the actual contents of the FCKeditor. If I use a Html.TextArea without replacing with FCKeditor it works correctly, and if I use a standard Post form submit inplace of AJAX all works as expected. Am I doing something wrong? If not is there a suitable/straight-forward workaround for this problem?

• Flex 3.5.0; Update ComboBox display list upon dataprovider change

  Hello, I have two related ComboBoxes ( continents, and countries ). When the continents ComboBox changes I request a XML from a certain URL. When I receive that XML i change the DataProvider for the countries ComboBox, like this: public function displayCountryArray( items:XMLList ):void { this.resellersCountryLoader.alpha = 0; this.resellersCountry.dataProvider = items; this.resellersCountry.dispatchEvent( new ListEvent( ListEvent.CHANGE ) ); } I dispatch the ListEvent.CHANGE because I use it to change another ComboBox so please ignore that (and the 1st line ). So, my problem is this: I select "ASIA" from the first continents, then the combobox DATA get's updated ( I can see that because the first ITEM is an item with the label '23 countries' ). I click the combo then I can see the countries. NOW, I select "Africa", the first item is displayed, with the ComboBox being closed, then when I click it, the countries are still the ones from Asia. Anyway, if I click an Item in the list, then the list updates correctly, and also, it has the correct info ( as I said it affects other ComboBoxes ). SO the only problem is that the display list does not get updated. In this function I tried these approaches Converting XMLList to XMLCollection and even ArrayCollection Adding this.resellersCountry.invalidateDisplayList(); Triggering events like DATA_CHANGE and UPDATE_COMPLETE I know they don't make much sense, but I got a little desperate. Please note that when I used 3.0.0 SDK this did not happen. Sorry if I'm stupid, but the flex events are killing me.

I've deployed the webpage and the WCF webservice to that machine. • Visual Studio 2008 Web Project error: Unable to start program http://localhost:port

  I am re-hashing this question because I have looked at over 50 threads in different forums and have not been able to get a resolution to my problem. Here are the specs: Windows XP SP3, Visual Studio 2008 SP1, .NET 3.5, ASP. NET MVC 2 project, IE 7 (was IE 8) Up until a few days ago I was not having any issues. It is now happening on any solution that I try to debug. I start a debug session (F5), the solution rebuilds, a VS development web server starts and then I get this error: Unable to start program http://localhost:2012/ If I open a web browser and enter the URL the application loads up. I had upgraded to IE 8 a few weeks ago and read there may be some issues so it has been uninstalled and I am currently on IE 7. Also, while IE 8 was installed I had switched my default browser to Firefox but my current default broweser is now IE7. I have reveiewed the threads on this site and others and have not been able to fix the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

• OpenSwan IPsec connection drops after 30 seconds

  I'm trying to connection from my Linux Mint 16 box to a CloudStack server. Building up the connection works (pings work across the tunnel). However 30 seconds later the IPsec tunnel gets terminated out of the blue. What could cause this consistent behaviour and how to fix it? The tunnel is setup using OpenSwan (U2.6.38/K(no kernel code presently loaded)) with the L2TP IPsec VPN manager from Werner Jaeger 1.0.9. The client is behind a NAT'ed router and the server is on public IP (CloudStack 4.2) Running ipsec verify complains about IPsec support in kernel. • Facebook multi-friend-selector + new javascript API = BROKEN ?

  I am using the fb:serverfbml tag to render a multi-friend-selector inside an IFrame. I am using the new javascript API. I have been trying ALL DAY to get it working. When I click on the underlines 'selected' link (to filter by the selected friends) the whole page refreshes and the selected friends disappear. • Troubleshoot Page Loading Issue (ActiveX control)

  Apologies for cryptic title, I'm hoping most people will read this BEFORE trying to move it to server fault. I might try and discourage the "too hard basket, move it to server fault anyway" crowd as well :). I have a page which will open cleanly when it's opened in it's own browser window/tab. The exact same URL, when loaded as part of a frame in a page in the same (local intranet) security zone shows the error: Your security settins do not allow websites to use ActiveX controls installed on your computer. This page may not display correctly. Click Here for options. How do I troubleshoot IE to work out which ActiveX control won't load in the frame but does load if the page is opened directly? Please note that I have dropped the security fully AND I've also moved EVERY setting in IE to enable or allow and restarted the browser but I STILL get the same issue. The two sites are on different machines in the same domain. I can't access website source code but I can ask for it to be fixed, so I'd really appreciate some help on this.

  I'm using jQuery to post to an ASP .NET Web Service to implement a custom auto-complete function. The code works great, except it's slow in FireFox (can't get it to go faster than 1 second). IE is blazing fast - works great. I watch the post in Firefox using Firebug. • Amazon Web services - retrieving a wishlist

  I've been tinkering with Yahoo Pipes and the Amazon E-Commerce Service (ECS) SDK to retrieve my wishlist. The problem is that although I can get all the items on my wishlist just fine, it seems to include items that I've deleted too. Has anyone else used this API and noticed this? Is there a way around it? UPDATE: Requested additional information in comments... • Google appengine authentication on iPhone web app on the home screen

  I'm using Google appengine for developing an web application that is meant to be used on both the browser and iphone. I have purchased a domain name for this application, so that I have a pretty URL. I've used the User API for authentication. This works just fine on desktop browsers and iPhone Safari. The user could add the application to the home screen (by tapping the "+" at the bottom toolbar). However when that's done, it seems like the cookies set by Google are not in affect within this "application", and the user is effectively logged out. To make matters worse, when the user clicks on the login link (as generated by GAE), the app closes and opens safari to complete the login. Since the session is apparently not shared between the two, the login process is futile, and the "home-screen" version of the app continues to be logged out. It seems that the cookies are not shared between a "home-screen" app and Safari. It also seems that the "home-screen" app will only work within it's own domain, and any redirect to any other domain will open Safari. Any idea how I can go about fixing this?

• @font-face problems

  Right now I'm trying desperately to get @font-face to work in my website. This is the code I am using right now. @font-face { font-family: romeral; src: url(fonts/romeral.otf ) format("opentype"); } And then.... h1 { font-size:2.5em; font-family:romeral; } I am using the font Romeral. Here's a link to it: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2007/02/06/freefont-of-the-week-romeral/ For some reason it just won't work. It won't render the font on the page. I've tried using other fonts like Ripe, and they work. I've made sure I don't have any spelling errors. What I'm wondering is if there is a restriction that some fonts use to stop people from using their fonts with @font-face. Or maybe I've made an obvious mistake in my code. Thanks in advance.

• Traversing/Manipulating new window from parent window with jquery

  I found a question already with a possible solution, but I had already tried the method suggested before reading it, and it even says it's inconsistent. So I guess I'm wondering why this doesn't work: $("img").click(function() { var imgwindow = window.open('imgwin.html','','width=460,height=345'); alert(imgwindow.find("img").attr("src")); }); The goal is to set the new window's img to the same src as the image that the user clicked to open the new window. But in the above scenario, I'm just trying to tap into the new window to get what it's already-set src. I have imgwin.html already written with a default src for the image, so it should alert that url. Instead I just get undefined. I also tried the following (which should be identical on the back end), but with the same results: $("img").click(function() { var imgwindow = window.open('imgwin.html','','width=460,height=345'); alert($("img",imgwindow).attr("src")); }); I even tried variations of wrapping the imgwindow variable in $() in case somehow jquery wasn't picking up on the variable as a DOM element. The only thing I can guess is that since window.open() is a method, jquery doesn't treat it like a DOM element, even though all documentation from basic javascript tutorials treat the variable as both a method to open the window and the pointer to the window's inner DOM.

• WCF Mono - BasicHttpBinding with SSL

  I'm trying to port an existing WCF client application to run on Linux under Mono. Right now I'm testing everything out, figuring out what works on Mono and what doesn't. The client makes a super simple call over basicHttpBinding. It works great, until I enable SSL (that is, specify BasicHttpSecurityMode.Transport in the binding). Running on .NET in Windows, it works great Running on Mono on Ubuntu 9.10 / Mono 2.6 I get the following error: Exception in async operation: System.Net.WebException: Error getting response stream (Write: The authentication or decryption has failed.): SendFailure --- System.IO.IOException: The authentication or decryption has failed. --- Mono.Security.Protocol.Tls.TlsException: Invalid certificate received from server. Error code: 0xffffffff800b010a I've read the Mono security FAQ here: http://www.mono-project.com/FAQ:_Security; however the SSL certificate on the server is from a root CA (a purchased certificate) - issued by Equifax Secure Certificate Authority. I ran the TlsTest tool on the Ubuntu install against the .svc URL and there are no problems/errors. Also I can hit the service fine in Firefox (no security warnings). What am I missing?   Newbie question since I'm not up to speed using maven at all. I'm trying to use scala + lift using scala 2.8, environment is a win7 box if that matters.   I want to use the following code to login to a website which returns its cookie information in the following manner: Set-Cookie: 19231234 Set-Cookie: u2am1342340 Set-Cookie: owwjera I'm using the following code to log in to the site, but the print statement at the end doesn't output anything about "set-cookie". On Snow leopard, the library seems to automatically pick up the cookie for this site and later connections sent out is set with correct "cookie" headers. But on leopard, it doesn't work that way, so is that a trigger for this "remember the cookie for certain root url" behavior?
