• Creating Array of settings names and values using ADO.NET Entities

  I'm using an ADO.NET Entities (.edmx) data-model along with MVC2 to build an application. I have a DB table where I want to store settings for method that run elsewhere. MVC2 allows me to create a view, editor, etc. to update this table which is great, but now when I want to do simple assignments based on column titles I'm a bit confused. For example, I would like to easily build an array that I could offset into the record's value based on it's "Title" Column: var entities = new ManagerEntities(); Setting[] settings = entities.settings.ToArray(); This returns something like: Settings[0].[SettingTitle][SettingValue] However, I would like to more easily index into the value than having to loop through all the returned settings, when they're already index. string URL_ID_NEED = [NeededUrl][http://www.url.com] Am I missing something relatively simple? Setting settingvalue = (Setting)entities.GetObjectByKey(key); return settingvalue.SettingValue.ToString(); } This method handles the job of querying the Entities by "Key" to get back the correct value as a returned string (which I can than strip out the " ", or or cast to an integer, etc. etc.,) Am I just duplicating functionality that already exists in ADO.NET's design patterns (I'm pretty new to it) -- or is this a reasonable solution?

• Find Port Number and Domain Name to connect to Hive Table

  I am new to Hive, MapReduce and Hadoop. I am using Putty to connect to hive table and access records in the tables. So what I did is- I opened Putty and in the host name I typed- ares-ingest.vip.host.com and then I click Open. And then I entered my username and password and then few commands to get to Hive sql. Below is the list what I did $ bash bash-3.00$ hive Hive history file=/tmp/rjamal/hive_job_log_rjamal_201207010451_1212680168.txt hive> set mapred.job.queue.name=hdmi-technology; hive> select * from table LIMIT 1; So my question is- I was trying to connect to Hive Tables using Squirrel SQL Client, so in that my Connection URL is- jdbc:hive://ares-ingest.vip.host.com:10000/default. So whenever I try to connect with these attributes, I always get Hive: Could not establish connection to ares-ingest.vip.host.com:10000/default: java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect. It might be possible I am using wrong port number or domain name here. Is there any way from the command prompt I can find out these two things, like what Domain Name and Port Number(where Hive server is running) should I use to connect to Hive table from Squirrel SQL Client. As I know host and port are determined by where the hive server is running

  Hi people! I am trying to do a really simple basic authentication with Spring Security. I have configured properly the namespace, and there are no Exceptions in the server. • Maintaining ISAPI Rewrite Path with the ASP.NET tilde (~)

  My team is upgrading from ASP.NET 3.5 to ASP.NET 4.0. We are currently using Helicon ISAPI Rewrite to map http://localhost/<account-name>/default.aspx to http://localhost/<virtual-directory>/default.aspx?AccountName=<account-name> where <account-name> is a query string variable and <virtual-directory> is a virtual directory (naturally). Before the upgrade the tilde (~) resolved to http://localhost/<account-name>/... (which I want it to do) and after the upgrade the tilde resolves to http://localhost/<virtual-directory>/... which results in an error because the <account-name> query string is required. I'd like to avoid going down the road of replacing everything with relative paths because there are several features in our system that use the entire URL instead of just the relative path. For what it's worth I'm using IIS7 in Windows 7, Visual Studio 2010 with ASP.NET 4.0 and the 64 bit Helicon ISAPI Rewrite. If I switch back to the ASP.NET 3.5 version then it still works fine (leading me to believe nothing changed in IIS unless it's within the 4.0 app pool - when I switch back and forth between 3.5 and 4.0 I have to change the app pool in IIS). • -[CFString length]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x3881940 when i scroll to near the bottom

  Hey guys, i've got a problem debugging an iphone app that i'm attempting to write and it's got me stumped, bear with me, i'm a n00b to programming and might get some of the terminology wrong but i'll try to explain it as best as i can. The app gets an XML doc from the a web site, parses it into an array, and then displays it in a table view, i have the parser in a separate file. The ViewDidLoad in RootViewController sends it a url, the parser goes to work and then returns an NSMutableArray. When i run the app it works fine with small XML files (5 entries or so, and 1-3 sections), but when i use a larger one(20+ rows, over 12 sections) i get the error "-[CFString length]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x3881940" when i scroll near the bottom of the tableview, just as the last section title is about to come onto the viewable area on the screen to be precise. if i return a static string instead of the object in my array in this method it doesn't crash, but i can use NSLog to call the array and it returns the title no problems. - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)indexPath { return [[returnedEvents objectAtIndex:indexPath ] objectAtIndex:0]; } The returnedEvents array isn't released until -(void) dealloc {} I have read a few other posts on here, and a few guides on debugging and as of yet am unable to find anything that was able to help me, i'd be more than happy to post some code up here and any more information, i'm just not sure where to start... • sIfr (3.436) and IE8 - My h1 and h2 are flickering

  I am using sIfr (3.436) for my H1 and H2 tags. In IE8 the text flickers and jumps around alot. Any ideas why the data doesn't update? A caching or browser issue perhaps?

• Help using mod_jk to forward to backend app server

  I had mod-jk working a while ago but after switching servers and modifying some files, it no longer works. I am using mod_jk-1.2.28 with JBoss 4.2.3 as the backend. In the JBoss server.xml file I have the AJP 1.3 connector defined on port 8009 and I am binding jboss to the server's new IP address. The app I am trying to forward to is deployed as: [TomcatDeployer] deploy, ctxPath=/ManualAlerts, warUrl=.../tmp/deploy/tmp8097651929280250028ManualAlertsApp.ear-contents/ManualAlerts-exp.war/ On the web server, I have worker.properties with a worker set for the JBoss address and port 8009. The mod-jk.conf has JkMount /ManualAlerts/* worker1. Shouldn't this forward all requests to the web server with the URL http://address/ManualAlerts/ to the backend app named ManualAlerts?   I'd like to hava a Dojo dojox.grid.DataGrid with its data from a servlet. Problem: The data returned from the servlet does not get displayed, just the message "Sorry, an error has occured".   Hi, I am newbie to ajax here and I know somebody would have encountered this problem already. The video plays, so that's working BUT: I want to have an old school tv (round corners) in foreground with switches and so on. The tv is an image with transparent pixels in the middle, so that a video lying behind the tv will shine through as if the video would be shown on the tv. But first of all the video has a border that I can't remove and second it's always in the foreground. In Safari and in Firefox and Mac it's working. So is it an iPhone thing, could it be that it simply won't work on iPhone ? Or do I have some css/html typos ?

  Hi, I've been googleing and searching here info about this but so far couldn't find anything relevant to my problem. We have a website currently working on II6 and Windows Server 2003 (x86) without any problem. Now we want to migrate our server to a Virtual Machine with Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64) and IIS7. Out current app is built in Classic ASP and SQL Server (This one located on a 2nd Server but this is staying the way it is now). The website is configured as a WebSite, not a virtual directory. Using DefaultAppPool with 4 applications. • Javascript menu that hovers over initial element

  I'm trying to build a javascript menu using prototype that when you mouseover an element, that element is hidden and a bigger element is shown in its place that closes onmouseout. This is what I have so far to give you an idea, but it doesn't work and is buggy. • Best way for a remote web app to authenticate users in my current web app?

  So a bit of background, I'm working on an existing web application which has a set of users, who are able to log in via a traditional login screen with a user name and password, etc. Recently we've managed to score a client (who have their own Intranet site), who are wanting to be able to have their users log into their Intranet site, and then have their users click a link on their Intranet which redirects to our application and logs them into it automatically. I've had two suggestions on how to implement this so far: Create a URL which takes 2 parameters (which are "username" and "password") and have the Intranet site pass those parameters to us (our connection is via TLS so it's all encrypted). This would work fine, but it seems a little "hacky", and also means that the logins and passwords have to be the same on both systems (and having to write some kind of web service which can update the passwords for users - which also seems a bit insecure) Provide a token to the Intranet, so when the client clicks on a link on the Intranet, it sends the token to us, along with the user name (and no password) which means they're authenticated. Again, this sounds a bit hacky as isn't that essentially the same as providing everyone with the same password to log in? So to summarise, I'm after the following things: A way for the users who are already authenticated on the Intranet to log into our system without too much messing around, and without using an external system to authenticate, i.e. LDAP / Kerberos Something which isn't too specific to this client, and can easily be implemented by other Intranets to log in

  First off, we have this namespaced/sti'd structure for our different types of 'Media' Media< Ar::Base Media::Local < Media Media::Local::Image < Media::Local Media::Local::Csv < Media::Local etc... etc.. This is excellent since a user can have many media, and how we display each piece of media is based on the class name and a co-responding partial. But what if we have some Csv's that need to be secure? That is, they can't reside inside of public. I really hate the idea of branching Media again and doing something like this: Media::Secure < Media Media::Secure::Image < Media::Secure Media::NotSecure < Media Media::NotSecure::Image < Media::NotSecure ...where Secure and NotSecure would have different params passed to has_attached_file. Now there are two classes that represent Image and it makes my view/helper system that much more complicated -- not to mention it feels very obtuse. What I would really like to do is be able to change where certain Paperclip::Attachment objects get saved before they get saved (e.g. anything uploaded through foo_secure_action) -- but I can't seem to make this work. Paperclip::Attachment has an @options hash with :path and :url, but changing those before it is saved doesn't have an effect on where it actually gets set. Even if this is possible, I'm not sure if it would have further consequences... I'm open to alternative ideas for structuring this data, but for the moment I like the idea of using STI for this situation.

  I have been using Windows 7 for a while but have not had to work with a particular legacy intranet application since my upgrade. Unfortunately, this application is setup as an ASP.NET Website project hosted on a remote server. When I have the website open in Visual Studio 2008 and try to debug it I get the following compiler error: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission' failed To resolve this issue on Windows Vista machines, I would change the machine's .NET Security Configuration trust level to full for the local intranet (fix outlined here). I believe this configuration utility relied upon the mscorcfg.msc which from some cursory research appears to be apart of the .NET 2.0 SDK. I have tried to follow the instructions from this Microsoft Support article running the command below to no avail. • Working with partial views

  Hi. I'm trying to create a page that contains a grid and searching. The issue is that I want to have a partial view for the grid and one for the searching. If doing a search, this should render the grid partial view with the new information. At the moment I need information, such as what column I'm sorting by and so on, from the grid (currently stored in viewdata), in order to do the search as I want to keep those settings. This information is only available in the grid partial though. What's the best approach of this to make it neat and nice in the code, but not a mess to work with? Where can I store information that I need in the other partial view? • ASP.NET MVC pagination problem????

  OK, This is starting to get mildly irritating. Here's the problem: I want to query subversion for the revision number of a repository, and then create a new directory with this revision number. The command svn_info outputs a number of label\value pairs, delimited by colons. • Images missing after moving Django to new server

  I'm moving Django project to new server. I'm newbie in Django, and I don't know where should be upload folder. There are all images which should be displayed on website. In config file I haven't seen upload folder I could specify, so I'm guessing it always should be the same location for django projects or I just can't find it. Locations are saved in database. When I've put uploaded files into media folder, so url was like domain.co.uk/media/upload/media/images/year/month/day/image_name.ext and the same is on the old website, images on website ware still missing. All images are visible if I put url by hand, but django doesn't seems to see files.
