• how to maintain a Home Button Presistent state of an app in Android?

  hi all, i am working on my App. in between i pressed the Home button on the device. my app will go to the background tasks. After that i long press the home button it will show my app as a persistent state. i.e where and what i had done in my app. But i click my app in the directory window it restarts my app. i want to do if my app is in the background tasks it will wake up else it will start. how to achieve that? Let me paint the picture – I’m running a timed service that use an OdbcDataReader and SqlBulkCopy to (1) archive the data (2) normalize the data on a SQL box. When I run this code in a windows form proj. it works fine. Then, when I change the DNS’s Data Directory Path to a local drive, instead of the network share (just simulated the environment locally), it works as well. I’m obviously missing something.   I'm working with ASP.NET MVC 2. I have a bunch of partial views that I render based on different conditions within the same controller. I'd like to not put the physical partial view files in with the controller's other views. I know that when I want a ViewResult using the View() or PartialView() methods the default view engine will search through the folder in the Views directory associated with the controller (i.e. if my controller is called Register it will look in the Register folder under Views) and also in the Shared folder. Is there any way to change this behavior, or perhaps tell it specifically where to look for the view -- heck, even give it a specific file to render? Is that possible? Perhaps even a sub-folder under the Shared folder will work...

  I'm currently developping a bootstrapper to deploy one of my VSTO addins. I thus created a prerequisites list before compiled it with MSBuild, but I also need to test and install the otkloadr.dll fix (KB907417). In a first time I used a custom bootstrapper package, but the package directory and files must be included with my deployment if I want to use it. In fact I really want to have a very light setup kit, with only the setup.exe and the addin.msi files... Is there a way to use a custom bootstrapper package embedded into the setup.exe ? If not, is there a standard bootstrapper package which include the KB907417 fix ?

• ASP.NET Deployment under IIS7/VS2010 as Web Application

  I transformed my VS2008 ASP.NET Website to a "Web Application" today using VS2010. So now it's possible to build a Deployment Package. A Zip Package which can be direclty imported into IIS7. Usually I added a website in IIS7 called mydomain.com and put everything in its root dir. That worked. However, since I converted to an Web Application, this Application is added beneath my "Website container". Now I'm confused, this is how it actually looks now when I try to open the website: Browsing to mydomain.com says 404 ERROR. Browsing to mydomain.com/mydomain.com opens the actual website, but in a subfolder instead of the root directory. (The Application is named after the Domain) How to make this application the root of the website now? I want the application to run under the mydomain.com ROOT and not some subfolder. Thanks a lot!

  Hi, I have some trouble using JNDI since it accepts only 7-bits encoded parameters. I am trying to change an LDAP entry using JNDI with the following code : Attribute newattr = new BasicAttribute("userpassword", password); ModificationItem[] mods = new ModificationItem[1]; mods[0] = new ModificationItem(DirContext.REPLACE_ATTRIBUTE, newattr); context.modifyAttributes("uid=anID,ou=People,o=MyOrganisation,c=com", mods); If my password contains only ascii characters, it works perfectly, but if I use a non-ascii character, like "à", I have this error message : javax.naming.directory.InvalidAttributeValueException: [LDAP: error code 19 - The value is not 7-bit clean: à]; My ldap supports those characters so I guess it comes from JNDI. Does anyone know how to fix that? Am I supposed to convert my parameter? How can I do that easily? Thanks

• SharePoint Virtual Directories Sitemap

  I have created and asp.net web site utilizing a web.sitemap file to help with navigation. The site needs to be deployed within a virtual directory inside of our SharePoint intranet site. The problem that I am running in to is that when I request the SiteMap.CurrentNode property, it is returning information from SharePoint's sitemap. Specifically, when i try to get my sitemap's title or description, I am getting information from SharePoint. I have tried re-naming my sitemap and declaring a new Sitemap provider within the web.config. After creating the new sitemap provider and requesting the SiteMap.currentNode, I receive an error message saying that it can't find the web.sitemap file. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

• My ASP.NET Web Application cannot 'find' any of my classes in the App_Code folder .. ??

  Hi folks, I'm trying to make a new asp.net web application .. so I'm copying my files from one site to the new one, in the same solution. Now, any of my classes in the App_Code directory ... they are not getting 'picked up' by the rest of my project. For example... \_ \_App_Code |_ BaseMasterPage.cs (please don't ask why this is in here..) |_ Utility.cs |_ FooBar.cs \_MasterPages |_ Default.master.cs // This file errors ;( namespace Foo.WebSite.MasterPages { public partial class Default_master : App_Code.BaseMasterPage { ... } } namespace Foo.WebSite.App_Code { public class BaseMasterPage : MasterPage { .. } } It cannot find the App_Code.BaseMasterPage (compilation and intellisence error) in the Default.master.cs page. Can someone please help? this is killing me :(

But then I wish to read it from the iPhone. Can't, the Resources folder is only readable. Thus meaning I don't have to mess around with untidy code copying the plist file over at startup. (Unless that's the only way).

"B-tree" concept here refers to a "tree of storage units" that hold the contents of an individual directory. What I don't understand is where on the disk is this tree stored? Its surely not created every-time we reboot...that would take lots of time. and since its a tree(dynamic Data structure) unlike arrays it will grow. so space needs to be allocated every-time it grows. so how is this "dynamic meta-data" stored ?

  I am using Assembly.LoadFrom within a web service to load assemblies from a web site. but the problem is it is in the virutal directory and the server.mappath parses the url like \share\mydll.dll and loadform method failed. Is there anyway to reference dll from the remote location? I've tried passing the url (http:\localhost\downloadable\mydll.dll) and again it got "Could not load file or assembly 'http:\localhost\downloadable\mydll.dll' or one of its dependencies. HTTP download of assemblies has been disabled for this appdomain. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131048)"

• How to call webservice using same credentials as Sharepoint?

  Is it possible to do a webservice call from within an Excel sheet that has been downloaded from a sharepoint server, using the same credentials as the ones that are used for accessing the Sharepoint server? We're currently developing an Excel solution, which does webservice request from within the Excel sheet. This works fine, but the user has to log in at least twice : one for downloading/opening the Excel sheet from Sharepoint, and one to be able to execute the webservice using the right credentials. The Sharepoint server and the client machine are not in the same Active Directory domain. So "System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent()" is not an option, since this will return a user that doesn't exist on the server.

In other development environments, you can right click the included or imported filename and have the option to jump to source. Is there such a feature in XCode? I have written a test file with the proper [TestFixture] and [Test] annotations and have put it here: App_Code/Test/TestClassName.cs. I load up the NUnit GUI to run it but it wants me to select a .exe or .dll file. There is none in the bin folder of my project.   I have an application that depends on other .net assemblies. When I start the application, I get an error that an assembly or one of its dependencies cannot be loaded. I do not want to put the assemblies into the GAC or into the Directory of the application. Is there a way (app.config?) to tell .net to look into a given path when trying to load assemblies? I believe I can use assembly binding for a single assembly, but I'm looking for a wildcard solution to add a path to the "search paths"

  I've been developing a Facebook app using Google App Engine in Python and the pyfacebook bindings. For weeks everything worked fine but suddenly it stopped. At first I thought it was a code change so I rolled back the entire dev directory to a version I knew worked, but still it failed. It's possible a change I made to the application's settings caused the issue but, if so, I can't figure out what. I've figured out that the problem is that instead of calling the post(self) method of my Main class, Facebook is calling using a GET. • Should I obscure primary key values?

  I'm building a web application where the front end is a highly-specialized search engine. Searching is handled at the main URL, and the user is passed off to a sub-directory when they click on a search result for a more detailed display. This hand-off is being done as a GET request with the primary key being passed in the query string. I seem to recall reading somewhere that exposing primary keys to the user was not a good idea, so I decided to implement reversible encryption. I'm starting to wonder if I'm just being paranoid. The reversible encryption (base64) is probably easily broken by anybody who cares to try, makes the URLs very ugly, and also longer than they otherwise would be. Should I just drop the encryption and send my primary keys in the clear?

  When I run a query through DBslayer http://code.nytimes.com/projects/dbslayer the floating point results are truncated to a total of six digits (plus decimal point and negative sign when needed). { ... "lat":52.2228,"lng":-2.19906, ... } When I run the same query in MySQL, the results are as expected. | 52.22280884 | -2.19906425 | Firstly, am I correct in identifying DBSlayer as the cause of this effect?   Hi, I have a software written using Qt which is meant to work on both Windows and Linux. I use PNG images as icons for my QActions, embedded in a resource. I have the following tree directory: / resources/ icons.qrc image.png Here is the content of icons.qrc: <RCC> <qresource prefix="/resources" lang="fr"> <file alias="image.png">image.png</file> </qresource> </RCC> I declare my QIcon like that: QIcon(":/resources/image.png") Under Windows, it works well but on Linux (I only tried on Ubuntu 10.4 so far), the images aren't displayed.   I am trying to run a DJango Command Extension which uses stackless. I have installed Stackless Python (compiled with python 2.5) so whenever I type python2.5 at the console it fires up indicating that the version is Python 2.5.2 Stackless 3.1b3 060516 (python-2.52:72942, May 26 2009, 23:07:34) [GCC 4.3.3] on linux2 But in my eclipse I have configured my django application to run with python2.6. Specifically in the PyDev settings. So obviously when I mention import stackless it says that there is no such package. The problem is even if I add the '/usr/local/lib/python2.5/site-packages' directory it does not import stackless. What is the solution to this issue ?
