  • Issue with org.apache.commons.net.ftp.FTPClient listFiles()

    - by James P.
    The listFiles() method of org.apache.commons.net.ftp.FTPClient works fine with Filezilla server on 127.0.0.1 but returns null on the root directory of public FTP servers such as belnet.be. There is an identical question on the link below but enterRemotePassiveMode() doesn't seem to help. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2339855/apache-commons-ftpclient-listfiles Could it be an issue with list parsing? If so, how can go about solving this?

  • static void classes

    - by ivor
    Hello, I'm tidying up some of my code with the correct scope on some methods and attributes (I have two classes and at the moment I have a number which I just declared as public to get working, but I feel I should look into this and make private where possible, for better practice) When working in eclipse it's suggested on one method, when i change it private from public, that I can fix it by dropping off the scope so the method just says "static void" instead of public/private static void. Is this a better scenario to have nothing, rather than private or public - or is the default scope equivelant to public anyway ? Thanks

  • Hibernate criteria -- alias

    - by Ignace
    Hello, I'm struggling a bit with the concept of alias in Hibernate. My situation is the following: Order @OneToMany(cascade=CascadeType.ALL,mappedBy="m_order") private Set<OrderDetail> m_details; OrderDetail @ManyToOne(cascade=CascadeType.ALL) @JoinColumn(name="product_id") private Product m_product; @ManyToOne(cascade=CascadeType.ALL) @JoinColumn(name="order_id") private Order m_order; DAO c.createAlias("m_details", "detail").createCriteria("detail.m_product").add(Expression.idEq(productId)); So I want to search every order that contains a product. However, with this query it keeps returning 0 orders and I don't really see what I'm doing wrong. Thanks!

  • The "is" in JUnit 4 assertions

    - by Space_C0wb0y
    Is there any semantic difference between writing assertThat(object1, is(equalTo(object2))); and writing assertThat(object1, equalTo(object2))); ? If not, I would prefer the first version, because it reads better. Are there any other considerations here?

  • Unable to connect on socket across different networks.

    - by maleki
    I am having trouble connecting my online application to others across another network. I am able to give them the hostAddress to connect when we are on the same network but when we are doing it across the internet the generated host address doesn't allow a connection, nor does using the ip address gotten from online sites such as whatismyip.com My biggest issue isn't debugging this code, because it works over intra-network but The server doesn't see attempts when we try to move to different networks. Also, the test ip I am using is 2222. InetAddress addr = InetAddress.getLocalHost(); String hostname = addr.getHostName(); System.out.println("Hostname: " + hostname); System.out.println("IP: " + addr.getHostAddress()); I display the host to the server when it is starting if (isClient) { System.out.println("Client Starting.."); clientSocket = new Socket(host, port_number); } else { System.out.println("Server Starting.."); echoServer = new ServerSocket(port_number); clientSocket = echoServer.accept(); System.out.println("Warning, Incoming Game.."); }

  • Why is an oracle sequence named hibernate_sequence being created with JPA using Hibernate with the O

    - by JavaRocky
    All my entities use this type of @Id @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.SEQUENCE, generator = "MYENTITY_SEQ") @SequenceGenerator(name = "MYENTITY_SEQ", sequenceName = "MYENTITY_SEQ") @Column(name = "MYENTITY", nullable = false) private Long id; Or @Id @Column(name = "MYENTITY") I find that an oracle sequence named hibernate_sequence is always created. Why is this so? And how can i avoid this? I am using JPA1 with Hibernate 3 and the Oracle 10g dialect.

  • How to use Apache HWPF to extract text and images out of a DOC file

    - by Hamed
    Hi...! I downloaded the Apache HWPF. I want to use it to read a doc file and write its text into a plain text file. I don't know the HWPF so well. My very simple program is here: I have 3 problems now: 1-Some of packages have errors ( they can't find apache hdf). • Nightmare: Upgrading Tomcat 5.5 to 6.0

    - by pavanlimo
    I'm trying to upgrade a perfectly running embedded Tomcat 5.5 to Tomcat 6.0. I understand that all I need to do is replace Tomcat 5.5 jars with 6.0. That's what I did. So I replaced the following jars: catalina-5.0.28.jar catalina-5.5.9.jar catalina-optional-5.5.9.jar commons-el.jar commons-modeler-1.1.0.jar jasper-compiler-jdt.jar jasper-compiler.jar jasper-runtime.jar jmx-5.0.28.jar jsp-api-2.0.jar naming-factory.jar naming-resources.jar servlet-api-2.4.jar servlets-default.jar tomcat-coyote.jar tomcat-http.jar tomcat-util.jar with: annotations-api.jar catalina.jar jasper.jar tomcat-dbcp.jar catalina-ant.jar el-api.jar jsp-api.jar tomcat-i18n-es.jar catalina-ha.jar jasper-el.jar servlet-api.jar tomcat-i18n-fr.jar catalina-tribes.jar jasper-jdt.jar tomcat-coyote.jar tomcat-i18n-ja.jar tomcat-juli.jar As soon as I start the server, I get the following message in the logs at INFO level: INFO: Starting Servlet Engine: Apache Tomcat/6.0.29 Dec 31, 2010 6:04:18 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader validateJarFile INFO: validateJarFile(/usr/local/blah/blue/./WEB-INF/lib/servlet-api.jar) - jar not loaded. See Servlet Spec 2.3, section 9.7.2. Offending class: javax/servlet/Servlet.class Based on the this explanation, I need to remove a jar file which has a conflicting Servlet.class. I swear to God, there is no other conflicting jar file, I grepped system wide for Servlet.class, it matched only servlet-api.jar. I also downloaded javaee.jar and replaced it by servlet-api.jar, to same avail. Having tried lot of these stuff, I did not have much to look upto, so set the tomcat logging level to ALL. In the log I could see that it is trying to check for Servlet.class in each and every jar it is loading until it finds servlet-api.jar and throws "jar not loaded" message as soon as it finds servlet-api.jar. See below: FINE: Checking for javax/servlet/Servlet.class Jan 2, 2011 7:39:33 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappLoader setRepositories FINE: Deploy JAR /WEB-INF/lib/servlet-api.jar to /usr/local/blah/blue/./WEB-INF/lib/servlet-api.jar Jan 2, 2011 7:39:33 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader addJar FINE: addJar(/WEB-INF/lib/servlet-api.jar) Jan 2, 2011 7:39:33 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader validateJarFile FINE: Checking for javax/servlet/Servlet.class Jan 2, 2011 7:39:33 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader validateJarFile INFO: validateJarFile(/usr/local/blah/blue/./WEB-INF/lib/servlet-api.jar) - jar not loaded. Offending class: javax/servlet/Servlet.class Jan 2, 2011 7:39:33 AM org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappLoader setRepositories Please note however, that Tomcat starts successfully! And as soon as I hit the URL on the browser, I get blank page(this may be in my case only, I guess 'cuz of my web.xml, sorta different from most. Other people on the internet have got Error 404 instead.) with following log statements(at finest level) Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.connector.CoyoteAdapter parseSessionCookiesId FINE: Requested cookie session id is 0FBA716E3F9B0147C3AF7ABAE3B1C27B Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.authenticator.AuthenticatorBase invoke FINE: Security checking request GET /login.jsp Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.realm.RealmBase findSecurityConstraints FINE: Checking constraint 'SecurityConstraint[protected]' against GET /login.jsp --> false Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.realm.RealmBase findSecurityConstraints FINE: Checking constraint 'SecurityConstraint[protected]' against GET /login.jsp --> false Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.realm.RealmBase findSecurityConstraints FINE: Checking constraint 'SecurityConstraint[protected]' against GET /login.jsp --> false Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.realm.RealmBase findSecurityConstraints FINE: Checking constraint 'SecurityConstraint[protected]' against GET /login.jsp --> false Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.realm.RealmBase findSecurityConstraints FINE: No applicable constraint located Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.authenticator.AuthenticatorBase invoke FINE: Not subject to any constraint Jan 2, 2011 9:40:01 AM org.apache.catalina.core.StandardWrapper allocate FINEST: Returning non-STM instance I'm not sure if the above log message is important, but I'm for all-out disclosure here. One interesting thing though, I manually created a dummy jsp file containing only "helloooo" just outside WEB-INF folder(no security constraints for this file). This file was accessible and could be displayed. But, all my jsp's and classes are inside WEB-INF(ofcourse). Sick and tired of this issue, please help me solve it. I've already spent 20-24 hours on this unsuccessfully. Any pointers directions hints leads?

  • Reading string value from Excel with HSSF but it's double

    - by egaga
    Hi, I'm using HSSF-POI for reading excel data. The problem is I have values in a cell that look like a number but really are strings. If I look at the format cell in Excel, it says the type is "text". Still the HSSF Cell thinks it's numeric. How can I get the value as a string? If I try to use cell.getRichStringValue, I get exception; if cell.toString, it's not the exact same value as in Excel sheet. Thanks! edit: until this gets resolved, I'll use new BigDecimal(cell.getNumericCellValue()).toString()

  • Apache with JBOSS using AJP (mod_jk) giving spikes in thread count.

    - by Beginner
    We used Apache with JBOSS for hosting our Application, but we found some issues related to thread handling of mod_jk. Our website comes under low traffic websites and has maximum 200-300 concurrent users during our website's peak activity time. As the traffic grows (not in terms of concurrent users, but in terms of cumulative requests which came to our server), the server stopped serving requests for long, although it didn't crash but could not serve the request till 20 mins. The JBOSS server console showed that 350 thread were busy on both servers although there was enough free memory say, more than 1-1.5 GB (2 servers for JBOSS were used which were 64 bits, 4 GB RAM allocated for JBOSS) In order to check the problem we were using JBOSS and Apache Web Consoles, and we were seeing that the thread were showing in S state for as long as minutes although our pages take around 4-5 seconds to be served. We took the thread dump and found that the threads were mostly in WAITING state which means that they were waiting indefinitely. These threads were not of our Application Classes but of AJP 8009 port. Could somebody help me in this, as somebody else might also got this issue and solved it somehow. In case any more information is required then let me know. Also is mod_proxy better than using mod_jk, or there are some other problems with mod_proxy which can be fatal for me if I switch to mod__proxy? The versions I used are as follows: Apache 2.0.52 JBOSS: 4.2.2 MOD_JK: 1.2.20 JDK: 1.6 Operating System: RHEL 4 Thanks for the help.

  • Why can I not register a PropertyEditor for String in Spring MVC?

    - by Tom Tucker
    I'm using Spring 3.0.3. I've enabled the default ConversionService by adding this line to my Spring configuration XML. <mvc:annotation-driven/> I'm also using custom PropertyEditor's for certain data types, so I've registered them for corresponding data types like the following and they work fine. webDataBinder.registerCustomEditor(Date.class, new MyPropertyEditor()); I have a custom tag library that extends Spring's Form tag library, and I can acess these PropertyEditor's through getPropertyEditor() of AbstractDataBoundFormElementTag. What I don't understand is that I can't register a custom PropertyEditor for String for some reason. The following wouldn't work. webDataBinder.registerCustomEditor(String.class, new MyPropertyEditor()); When I do getPropertyEditor(), it always returns a ConvertingPropertyEditorAdapter, instead of MyPropertyEditor. Is this a bug? EDIT: I realized that I didn't do some stuff right. Spring works just fine.

  • how to reuse the area in a container when any component is removed from it?

    - by vybhav
    hi! i hav a panel and i m trying to remove labels from it which were added to it during run-time. but when labels are removed succesfully i m not able to use the space,left by that label,again to add any label to it. thanks in anticipation of the solution. here is the relevant code snippet: to add label to the panel: JLabel jl = new JLabel(); jl.setOpaque(true); jl.setIcon(new ImageIcon("D:/Project/router2.jpg")); jl.setBounds(x, y,jl.getPreferredSize().width,jl.getPreferredSize().height); for(Component c :lcomponent) { flag=true; Rectangle r4=c.getBounds(); int x1=(int) r4.getX(); int y1=(int) r4.getY(); Rectangle r5 = new Rectangle(new Point(x1-60, y1-60),new Dimension(170,170)); if(r5.contains(p)){ //To ensure that two labels do not overlap or are too close flag = false; // to each other break; }} if(flag) { p2.add(jl); //p2 is a panel Component c2 = p2.getComponentAt(x,y); p2.repaint(); lcomponent.add(c2); //lcomponent is an ArrayList<Component> to store all the labels added to the panel } 2.to remove the label: p2.remove(); p2.repaint();

  • Android Keep Activity from Dieing

    - by GuyNoir
    The main Activity I use in my Android application uses a fair amount of memory, meaning that on a less powerful phone, it is susceptible to being killed off when not at the front. Normally this is fine, but it also happens when I am still inside my application, but have a different activity at the top of the stack (such as a preference activity). Obviously it's a problem if my application is killed while the user is still running it. Is there any way to disable the OS's ability to kill off the application for low memory problems? Thanks.

  • HTTP Builder/Groovy - get source text _and_ XmlSlurper output?

    - by Misha Koshelev
    Dear All: I am reading here: http://groovy.codehaus.org/modules/http-builder/doc/get.html I seem to be able to get i) XMLSlurper output as parsed by NekoHTML using: def http = new HTTPBuilder('http://www.google.com') def html = http.get( path : '/search', query : [q:'Groovy'] ) ii) Raw text using: http.get( path : '/search', contentType : TEXT, query : [q:'Groovy'] ) { resp, reader -> println "response status: ${resp.statusLine}" println 'Headers: -----------' resp.headers.each { h -> println " ${h.name} : ${h.value}" } println 'Response data: -----' System.out << reader println '\n--------------------' } I am having some trouble and would like to get BOTH (i) and (ii) to debug my XmlSlurper code on the actual html I am getting. Any suggestions how I might go about doing this? I can easily instantiate an XmlSlurper object with the relevant string using the parseString(string) method or the parse(reader) method, but I cannot seem to get the Neko processing step correct. Any hints? Thank you! Misha

  • Will a ScheduledExecutorService create new threads as needed?

    - by Matt Ball
    I'm using Executors.newScheduledThreadPool() to create a ScheduledExecutorService, specifying the number of threads like so: int corePoolSize = 42; ScheduledExecutorService foo = Executors.newScheduledThreadPool(corePoolSize); According to the JavaDocs, the corePoolSize argument sets the number of threads to keep in the pool, even if they are idle. Does this mean that this ExecutorService implementation may create more than corePoolSize threads as needed, similar to a cached thread pool?

  • Complex HashMap has different hashCode after serialization

    - by woezelmann
    I am parsing a xml file into a complex HashMap looking like this: Map<String, Map<String, EcmObject> EcmObject: public class EcmObject implements Comparable, Serializable { private final EcmObjectType type; private final String name; private final List<EcmField> fields; private final boolean pages; // getter, equals, hashCode } EcmObjectType: public enum EcmObjectType implements Serializable { FOLDER, REGISTER, DOCUMENT } EcmField public class EcmField implements Comparable, Serializable { private final EcmFieldDataType dataType; private final EcmFieldControlType controlType; private final String name; private final String dbname; private final String internalname; private final Integer length; // getter, equals, hashCode } EcmFieldDataType public enum EcmFieldDataType implements Serializable { TEXT, DATE, NUMBER, GROUP, DEC; } and EcmFieldControlType public enum EcmFieldControlType implements Serializable{ DEFAULT, CHECKBOX, LIST, DBLIST, TEXTAREA, HIERARCHY, TREE, GRID, RADIO, PAGECONTROL, STATIC; } I have overwritten all hashCode and equal methods by usind commons lang's EqualsBuilder and HashCodeBuilder. Now when I copy a A HashMap this way: Map<String, Map<String, EcmObject>> m = EcmUtil.convertXmlObjectDefsToEcmEntries(new File("e:\\objdef.xml")); Map<String, Map<String, EcmObject>> m2; System.out.println(m.hashCode()); ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream(8 * 4096); ObjectOutputStream oos = new ObjectOutputStream(baos); oos.writeObject(m); ByteArrayInputStream bais = new ByteArrayInputStream(baos.toByteArray()); ObjectInputStream ois = new ObjectInputStream(bais); m2 = (Map<String, Map<String, EcmObject>>) ois.readObject(); System.out.println(m.hashCode()); System.out.println(m2.hashCode()); m.hashCode() is not equal to m2.hashCode() here is my output: -1639352210 -2071553208 1679930154 Another strange thing is, that eg. 10 times m has the same hashcode and suddenly on the 11th time the hashcode is different... Any ideas what this is about?

  • Android OutOfMemoryError - Loading JSON File

    - by jeremynealbrown
    The app I am working on needs to read a JSON file that may be anywhere from 1.5 to 3 MB in size. It seems to have no problem opening the file and converting the data to a string, but when it attempts to convert the string to a JSONArray, OutOfMemoryErrors are thrown. The exceptions look something like this: E/dalvikvm-heap( 5307): Out of memory on a 280-byte allocation. W/dalvikvm( 5307): Exception thrown (Ljava/lang/OutOfMemoryError;) while throwing internal exception (Ljava/lang/OutOfMemoryError;) One strange thing about this is that the crash only occurs every 2nd or 3rd time the app is run, leaving me to believe that the memory consumed by the app is not being garbage collected each time the app closes. Any insight into how I might get around this issue would be greatly appreciated. I am open to the idea of loading the file in chunks, but I'm not quite sure what the best approach is for such a task. Thank you
