  • Spoofing MAC address to match other device

    At my school, there is a WiFi network where you can register up to one computer or phone. I, however, wish to connect my phone and my computer (Windows 7). I talked to an IT guy at my school and he told me that it registers the computer based on the MAC address (For the record, he's the one who suggested I spoof). So, I got my phone's MAC and now I want to change my computer's address to the same thing. I found this link and this video, so I know how to change it. I was wondering if that would run into problems because they are normally on the same network at home.

  • NAS that supports NZB downloading for around £150 ($220) or less (without hard drive)

    I have seen a number of NAS's that are around that price, but I am worried that they may not be able to handle the processing of .rar files (I know that can be quite CPU intensive). Does anyone have any experiences with sabnzbd or hellanzb - or similar on their NAS? In terms of features the main requirement is NZB downloading - I am quite flexible on the other features. Wifi support would be nice, but not essential. Torrent downloading would also be nice. One disk drive would probably be enough. Easy installation of application would be nice... but again I am sure I can follow a tutorial.

    I'm colorizing parts of my bash prompt using ANSI escape sequences. This works great, until the command I'm currently typing in is long enough that it has to wrap. Instead of the rest of the command displaying on the next line, it wraps back to column 1 of the current line, overwriting the beginning of the prompt. I get that behavior with this prompt: export PS1="[\u][\033[0;32;40mdemo \033[0;33;40m1.5.40.b\033[0;37;40m] \w> \033[0m" but it works correctly with the same prompt, ANSI sequences remove: export PS1="[\u][demo 1.5.40.b] \w> " I'm connecting using the current version of Putty, with default Putty settings. The OS is Ubuntu 8.10.

One runs windows 7, one runs windows XP and is for some experimental programming and testing. I don't want to mess up anything, so I am going to disable the windows 7 partition like described on the linked page above from windows XP to protect the operating system. When I do this, is the windows 7 partition only disabled for the running XP os, or is the windows 7 partition rendered unbootable? with best regards

  • GTX 280 purple snow on bootup, card works without drivers

    i have owned a ASUS GTX280 for 3 years now. The card has been great all along but i started having problems 10 days ago. I was playing Diablo 3 for 1 week on max settings no problems, then suddenly my display kept getting some weird purple/colours as soon as i booted and logged into windows. Went into safe mode, updated drivers and it kept crashing. Formatted PC, fresh windows install with new WHQL drivers again same problem. Uninstalled nvidia drivers and pc has been running great for 4 days now, ofcourse i cannot run games but everything works on 1680x1050 resolution and i can browse internet,watch movies and use my PC for everything but gaming. As soon as i install nvidia drivers PC won't boot. I only wanna game a few hours a week (very busy program with school this month so it might be a blessing that i cannot game) and i would love it if i could keep the card. I am looking to upgrde later on when i will have time for gaming but i wonder if i could still use the card somehow with different/new drivers (tried older drivers that came with the card on a CD aswell) tldr: PC works fine with no nvidia drivers (apart from gaming ofc). Once i install WHQL drivers or older ones, cannot even log into windows. Fix?

  • Snort install issue on debian 6 with libpcre - libpcre library not found

    I've read the manual on snort.org for installing snort on Debian but am still having an issue. Does anyone know how to resolve this? I've tried installing the libpcre3 amd libpcre3-dev packages by using apt-get and also manually installing by downloading the latest version off the tcpdump website. Any ideas? Checking for pcre-compile in -l pcre...no Error! Libpcre library not found. Get it from http://www.pcre.org

  • How to speed up a HP M9517C

    I bought a system with 8GB RAM, 1TB HD, Quad-Core AMD Phenom 9550, Nvidia Geforce 9300GE, 64-bit Windows Vista Machine. Bought it primarily because it was cheap and came with 25.5 inch screen. Problem: It's slow - if you can believe it. My Dell laptop 1525 is faster and more stable! I tried installing and dual-booting Linux Mint and ran into video and audio troubles. I need fast and stable and I'm going for awesome. Anyone have some suggestions on making this thing smoking hot? Vista is fine, but slows over time - suspect virus/spyware/etc.. But I need to use Photoshop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Illustrator. I've tried the alternatives and I just don't like them. When you've got deadlines looming you want to work with what you know. Also use Skype (and I had audio problems with it in Linux), gotomeeting, gotowebinar. Don't need MS Office. Tried VMWare, Virtualbox and again - I keep getting audio/video problems. I'd love someone's input on THEIR setup and how they got there. I'm sure I need to upgrade my video card, but what should I go to?

    My task is to move this VS solution and projects to another SVN server. I'm working with Visual Studio 2010 RC1 and AnkhSVN 2.1.7819.... Currently the files are all bound to a repo at C:\Repositories\foo. I'd like to move it to http://someSite/svn/foo I'm presented with this error message: Repository UUID '152c39db-5799-4234-85f2-074004a6fcad' doesn't match expected UUID '6c83444d-7f93-d64a-b0a0-23283495cf17' Questions How can I avoid this message in AnkhSVN? Are there better solutions for moving the source into a repo on the new target? How can I get Ankh to 'forget' that repo at C:\Repositories\ forever?

  • Why doesn't the People Pane in Outlook 2010 show appointments for individual contacts?

    Outlook 2010 will not show appointments in the people pane. Under the activities tab if I go to All Items then eventually the appointments will show, but this takes a seriously long time. If I then click off the tab to look at another field then return to All Items, all the appointments are gone again. I need to be able to: Open a contact and see when that contact has appointments Open an appointment and see which contacts are attached to that appointment It works well from the appointment card to the contact, but has me completely frustrated going from the contact card to find the appontments. I have tried many things but cannot solve this problem. My set up is as follows: Exchange Server Windows 7 Ultimate Indexing enabled Cached exchange mode enabled Help! This is the whole reason I installed Outlook 2010.

  • Migrating Windows XP BOOT.INI Settings to Windows 7 Boot-loader

    Hi, Two months ago my motherboard died, so I bought a used computer that came with Windows 7. I have since installed my old hard-drive, which had Windows XP on it, in this system. What I am trying to do now is to figure out a way to migrate the settings from XP's BOOT.INI into 7's boot-loader. Below is the BOOT.INI I used in XP (I have reduced the strings and updated the disks to point to the new location of the old HD. Oh and I am not clear on the drive letters. In XP, I could boot the recovery console or MS-DOS from a file in C:\ that contains the boot-sector. I am not sure what drive letter it would be called now—I had to manually change all the drive letters of the old partitions in Windows 7 because it auto-assigned them all wrong/differently). (Yes, I tried EasyBCD, but that did not help; it had no options for XP, and the best I managed was to get a choice of booting 7 or normal-mode XP—choosing XP didn't even give the old XP boot menu.)     I am a math teacher who uses Word 2008 on the Mac, and I need to collaborate with other teachers who are using Word 2007 under Windows. When they send me a document with mathematical equations in it, I can open it but not see the equations or the document loses formatting such as superscript for exponents. On this page of Known Issues in Word 2008, Microsoft says, Equations saved from Word 2007 for Windows do not appear in Word 2008 for Mac Equations saved in Word 2007 for Windows are not supported in Word 2008 for Mac. The equations will be preserved so that they display correctly in Word 2007, but will appear as placeholders in Word 2008. What can I do to collaborate with users of Word 2007 on mathematical documents?

  • Output Audio via HDMI and Analog Out Simultaneously

    I need to output the system audio from a desktop to both the HDMI output (sending to the display that functions as the room speakers) and via the analog stereo output (to feed the reference input on a microphone array for Skype). The only solution I've found so far for this is an HDMI Audio De-Embedder, but I'd really like to avoid buying another piece of hardware, so I'm hoping there's a way to do this inside software. So: Is there any way to make Windows 7 output all audio over both HDMI and Analog outs, simultaneously?

  • How do I use wine's new multi-channel audio support?

    Wine supposedly added Multi-channel support to the ALSA driver in a recent release. However, I haven't found any documentation about it or any reports of anyone successfully using it. I have 5.1 surround sound through ALSA (not Pulse) on my linux system, yet games in wine don't seem to use anything more than stereo, no matter which ALSA device I select in winecfg. Can someone explain what must be done to get wine games to use all my speakers for positional audio, or failing that, point me toward some useful documentation on the new multi-channel support?

  • Microsoft Word RTF formatting breaks after pasting in HTML and saving

    I have developed an HTML e-campaign which uses tables and all the ugly stuff required for HTML emails. I'm pasting this via Open File ( I paste the URL ) and it retrieves the resources ( images ) and pastes the layout in MS Word. When I go and save this as an RTF, close Word and reopen the RTF, the images are broken. Anyone have a clue as to how to work around this issue? I can confirm 100% that the image resource is VALID, it's through http and NOT https. I've tried various advanced options relating to tables/formatting and all to no avail.

    I have four different Macs that I use from time to time, and on each of them I notice a constant: adding more items to AppleScript Editor's Library window slows performance of mundane operations (opening a dictionary, switching between Library window and editor window, scrolling in the Library window, etc). In Leopard, I noticed little to no latency in opening a dictionary in Script Editor, but Snow Leopard's AppleScript Editor kills my productivity by making me wait on it with most UI interactions with the Library window.

So I think that the NAT virtualize a network adapter (or something like this) and that 192.168.15.2 could be the ip address of this network adapter... But it seems strange to me because, as you can see in the previous ipconfig output the VmWare network adapter addresses are: 192.168.129.1 and 192.168.15.1. So I have also 2 others doubts: 1) What device represents the 192.168.15.2 ip address that the virtualized Ubuntu see as Default gateway but that is not my router? 2) What exactly do the two VmWare network adapter that I have configured into my Windows 8 system?     I have Windows 7 Home Premium Blackberry Curve 9300 6.0 bundle 1478 (v6.0.0.380, platform 6.6.0.86) desktop software 6.0.0.380 I was able to connect with desktop software version 5 but 6 does not work. I am able to connect to the internet just fine with the device itself (ie can browse the web). How can I debug this? update: here's the error message: when i try to connect i get the message "failed to start mobile internet. the specified port is not open. please check your profile settings and make sure your radio is turned on. this service might also have been turned off by your wireless service provider or your administrator"

  • New installation - Win 7 or directly Win 8?

    My laptop's hard disk is gone, so I need to re-install my Windows. Would it be a good idea to directly install Win8 (so actually the preview). Is there any known incompatibility with Win7 which would be a show stopper? I have a Dell XPS laptop, I do not expect any driver issues since the series is pretty much mainstream. Would the Win8 preview become Win8 RTM automatically by updates, or would I need to re-install Win8 RTM. This would be the no-go for me. The Win8 preview does not require a key, so I guess it becomes Win 8 RTM and then needs to be activated (which is what I want). Basically the idea is, I have to install windows anyway, so why not using the latest version?
