• Change .NET Framework version of application pool to 3.5?

  I've installed .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 on web server (Server 2008 Enterprise), so running IIS 7.0. I want to change the version of .NET Framework used by an existing site. So I right-click on appropriate Application Pool and selected Edit Application Pool. The .NET Framework dropdown does not include an explicit entry for framework 3.5, but just 2.0.50727. Does anyone know off the top of their head--is this just because the version of the core RTL in 3.5 is still 2.0? Or do I need to do something additional to get IIS to see version 3.5? (Did try restarting IIS). Thanks!

  Okay so im writing a SQL Server 2008 Stored Procedure (maintenance script). In doing so, being a good boy i've done plenty of error handling, checking rowcounts, printing output messages, etc But in doing this, ive found myself writing over and over again something like this: SELECT @RowsAffected = @@ROWCOUNT IF @RowsAffected > 0 BEGIN PRINT CAST(@RowsAffected, NVARCHAR(2)) + 'rows updated.' END Or debug messages like this: PRINT 'User ' + CAST(@UserId AS NVARCHAR(5)) + ' modified successfully' Is there a way i can create a kind of 'subroutine' inside the stored procedure (like a private method) that can accept something as a parameter (doesnt have to though) and do some logic? I want to be able to do something like this: CheckRowCounts Or this: PrintUserUpatedMessage(@UserId) Which would then perform the above logic (check rowcount, print message, etc) And yes obviously i can create a UDF, but then i would need to create/drop it etc as this logic is only required for the life of the execution of this stored procedure. Getting sick and tired of writing the same code over and over again, and changing all the different areas ive used it when i get an error =) Can anyone help?

  OK, I am a big fan of WPF, and while it is large area to fully understand, Microsoft has been great in posting loads of training video at http://windowsclient.net/learn/videos_wpf.aspx However with the release of 2010 it all seams to have gone very quite. I expected a lot of the support to be updated for 2010 and I also expected a lot of new videos on the best way to use the new features in 2010. Currently I find myself working through videos based on 2008 (or even 2005) and trying to apply them to 2010. Don't get me wrong it not that I mind doing this, it just that I fear I may be learning methods which have better or different solutions in 2010. It is just me expecting too much of Microsoft, or have I missed out on a new website?

  I have created a website in ASP.NET = www.vif-tech.com/BidsOnline When I am running it on Localhost using Visual Studio 2008, its running perfectly without any postback because I am using Ajax Update Panels (where data is changing constantly). But when I am running from my web server i.e. www.vif-tech.com/BidsOnline, its making postbacks every seconds. Even I tried changing connection string on my localhost and tried connecting to main database (not on my localhost), it's still making postbacks. Is there some error in my DB or page ?

• Large ResultSet on postgresql query

  I'm running a query against a table in a postgresql database. The database is on a remote machine. The table has around 30 sub-tables using postgresql partitioning capability. The query will return a large result set, something around 1.8 million rows. In my code I use spring jdbc support, method JdbcTemplate.query, but my RowCallbackHandler is not being called. My best guess is that the postgresql jdbc driver (I use version 8.3-603.jdbc4) is accumulating the result in memory before calling my code. I thought the fetchSize configuration could control this, but I tried it and nothing changes. I did this as postgresql manual recomended. This query worked fine when I used Oracle XE. But I'm trying to migrate to postgresql because of the partitioning feature, which is not available in Oracle XE. • SQL Server T-SQL statement to replace/delete sub-strings

  Hi, I have a table with 6 columns containing HTML content with some markups in it and now when moving to a new designed site most of this HTML code has to be deleted. More or less all tags except <B> and </B>. Is there a nice way of doing this, identify all tags end delete them within the data? I'm sure there are no < symbols in the test so a regular expression would maybe work? My alternative is to fetch every row, process it and update the database but I'm guessing this is possible to do in T-SQL directly. My server is an MSSQL 2008 and is located in a hosted environment but I can fetch a local copy if needed. Thanks, Stefan

  I am getting some "ref" vs "out" keyword errors using the sql-net and C# Sqlite combination for windows phone 7.1. Is this due to a wrong combination of libraries that I am using? App Type: Windows Phone 7.1 Using: 1) sql-net Version 1.0.5, Source Nuget thru Visual Studio 2) C# Sqlite for WP7 (wp7sqlite) ( Community.CSharpSqlite.WP7) Version 0.1.1, Source Nuget thru Visual Studio.   Hello everybody people, One of the frustrations with the standard TreeView is that you can't show a partial selection to indicate that some of the children are selected. A partial selection in a complex tree allows the user to easily determine where the selections are, even if the tree is not completely expanded. A similar idea is used in manu backup programs to allow the user to select the files to be backed up. Does anyone know of a way to make the checks in a treeview checkbox gray? I want to gray the check of a parent node when some (but not all) of its child nodes are checked. Kinda like what you see when you are selecting options to install during a software installation.   Hi, I'm trying to build a small utility for myself only to hide labels of running programs with windows visible in the taskbar where the label holds no information (for example "iTunes", "Microsoft SQL Server Mngmt Studio", "~cmd.exe") but keep windows like Windows Explorer and Visual Studio and MSN ungroupped, with labels (to know which folders you are currently listing, which projects are open, and who are you chatting with by name). I'm trying to loop through all windows in the taskbar on windows 7, but without any luck. I found some samples for XP's taskbar reorders, they no longer usable. I've checked the samples in WindowsAPICodePack for Windows 7 Taskbar manipulation, but it only lets me access my processes' windows.

  hi there, I have developed a windows application using C# VS 2008 and Sql 2005 express, i have testes the application on my machine and it works fine, my machine is win32 bit, when i tried the application on windows 64bit it keeps giving me an error message on the start of the application,although i installed the sql express on that machine but should i install .NETframwork3.5sp1 64 bit also? , the target machine is widows 7 64bit, also is there a technology or a way to make the application work in the following sequence: 1- the CD is auto run 2- the setup checks for the installed prerequists and install any necessery one without the interference of the user. one last question,should i rebuild the application on an 64 bit machine to make it work on 64 bit machine? thankx

  This is what I thought would be a simple select clause, however the following is giving me grief! I am using SQL Server 2008. Basically I want to compare two integer values and return the boolean result in the select clause. Here is a simple example: DECLARE @A INT DECLARE @B INT SET @A = 1 SET @B = 2 SELECT @A = @B Currently the only output is "Command(s) completed successfully." • Why does Tomcat 6 hang when I shut it down?

  I have Tomcat 6.0.24 64 bit installed on two Windows Server 2008 boxes as a Window's service. I use the Tomcat Monitor application to start and stop Tomcat. Randomly on both boxes, the server will not shutdown when the Stop Service option is selected. Both Start Service and Stop Service remain grayed out until I open a task manager and kill tomcat6.exe. This also happens with Tomcat 6.0.20 installed on these boxes, however it does not happen on my 32 bit Windows 7 machine. What is causing this?

  Basically what I want to do is export an array (or GridView) to a file called "getpathin.dat". That is easy, but the method I am using downloads the file to my computer, which is what I don't want.   In Visual Studio, I can obtain a succinct list of public methods/members exposed in a class for which I do not have the source (i.e. bundled inside a DLL) by pressing F12 (GoToDefinition). Similarly, I am learning the Android API - in Eclipse. Jumping to an Android framework method definition produces decompilation output which is not intuitive to read, and is very verbose. To mimic results like Visual Studio, I am considering several options: How can I format the decompilation output to be 'cleaner' - I have looked through Eclipse's preferences menus and have not found a way to do this. How do I 'add corresponding source files' once Google provides it, so that jumping to definition yields the actual definition? Is there a plugin that does this already? I looked into Jadclipse, but that project has not been updated in several years, and is still a decompiler. Thank you in advance.

• How do I convert a windows forms app from C# to VB ?

  I've been converting all kinds of other things, classes, interfaces, ASP.NET MVC apps, and WPF applications, but I am stumped as to how to convert a windows forms application, as the whole structure seems to be different. Does anyone have any advice on how to tackle this problem? I see essentially that you have two files, Form1.cs and Form1.Designer.cs. Literally translating them from C# to VB doesn't work because of some intricacies or other of how Visual Basic works. I think you /might/ be able to convert Form1.cs in this way, as it's just a constructor plus event handlers, but the designer contains the references to the controls etc. and I am not sure how to go about doing that. I am using Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2.

• How do you update the server name in source indexed symbol file?

  With the Debugging Tools for Windows you can run SSIndex.cmd against your symbol files and it will embed the command to retrieve each source code file from the TF server. We have a bunch of indexed files and recently our IT migrated our TFS 2008 installation to TFS 2010 and in the process changed the server name. Question is, how can I update all these symbol files to point to the new server? I thought SSindex used an alternate data stream named 'srcsrv' but SysInternals' streams.exe shows nothing on these symbol files even though srctool.exe shows the data.

  I am importing a table from one database to another in SQL Server 2008 by right-clicking the target database and choosing Tasks Import Data... When I import the table I get the column names and types and all the data fine, but I lose the primary key, identity specifications and all the default values that were set in the source table. So now I have to set all the default values for each column again manually. Is there any way to get the default values with the import, or even after with a Query? I am VERY new to this and flailing in the dark, so forgive me if this is a really stupid question...
