ASP C# Web Developer default login, getting user ID session value

I've used the built-in wizard in Visual Web Developer 2008 to create a simple login system. I'd like to get hold of the logged in user's ID, but I'm not sure how. Peeking in the ASPNETDB.MDF in the table aspnet_Users, the column appears to be called "UserId". I gave it a go: Response.Write("ID: " + Session["UserId"]); but it's coming up blank. How do I do this? (This is not for a live project, no need to point out the sillyness in using the wizard.) Thanks

Automatically call httpservice.send

I have an application that displays the data from 3 xml files (auto generated from SQL table) using httpservices to get them. The first xml file is small and contains around 30 items, the second and thrid contain around 200-300 items each. The first dataset loads quickly and is invoked on creationComplete. The second and third are called from click events and take quite a few seconds to load. A user of the application will take at least 2-3 minutes reading the data from the first dataset so is there a way I can have the httpservice.send for the second and third xml files called automatically, straight after the first file has finished loading to be able to show the first dataset immediateley and get rid of the waiting times between dataset views. An answer doesnt need to be specific, just a point in the right direction would be great. All answers greatly appreciated Matt

I can't make this query work with SUM function

This query gives an error: select ep, case when ob is null and b2b_ob is null then 'a' when ob is not null or b2b_ob is not null then 'b' else null end as type, sum(b2b_d + b2b_t - b2b_i) as sales from table where ... group by ep, type Error: ORA-00904: "TYPE": invalid identifier When I run it with group by ep, the error message becomes: ORA-00979: not a GROUP BY expression The whole query works OK if I remove the lines sum(b2b_d+b2b_t-b2b_i) as sales and group by ..., so the problem should be related to SUM and GROUP BY functions. How can I make this work? Thanks in advance for your help.

Filtering MySQL query result according to a interval of timestamp

Let's say I have a very large MySQL table with a timestamp field. So I want to filter out some of the results not to have too many rows because I am going to print them. Let's say the timestamps are increasing as the number of rows increase and they are like every one minute on average. (Does not necessarily to be exactly once every minute, ex: 2010-06-07 03:55:14, 2010-06-07 03:56:23, 2010-06-07 03:57:01, 2010-06-07 03:57:51, 2010-06-07 03:59:21 ...) As I mentioned earlier I want to filter out some of the records, I do not have specific rule to do that, but I was thinking to filter out the rows according to the timestamp interval. After I achieve filtering I want to have a result set which has a certain amount of minutes between timestamps on average (ex: 2010-06-07 03:20:14, 2010-06-07 03:29:23, 2010-06-07 03:38:01, 2010-06-07 03:49:51, 2010-06-07 03:59:21 ...) Last but not least, the operation should not take incredible amount of time, I need this functionality to be almost fast as a normal select operation. Do you have any suggestions?

Can django's auth_user.username be varchar(75)?

Django's auth_user.username field is 30 characters. That means you can't have auth_user.username store an email address. If you want to have users authenticate based on their email address it would seem you have to do some wonky stuff like writing your own authentication backend which authenticates based on (email, password) instead of (username, password) and furthermore, figuring out what you're going to put in the username field since it is required and it is a primary key. Do you put a hash in there, do you try to put the id in there... bleh! Why should you have to write all this code and consider edge cases simply because username is too small for your (farily common) purposes? Is there anything wrong with running alter table on auth_user to make username be varchar(75) so it can fit an email? What does that break if anything?

I have a many to many relationship in my models and i'm trying to reorganize it on one of my pages. My site has videos. On each video's page i'm trying to list the actors that are in that video with links to each time they are in the video(the links will skip to that part of the video) Here's an illustration Flash Video embedded here Actors... Hi, I am relatively new to databases,so please forgive me if my query sounds trivial. I need to send bulk email to all the contacts listed in a particular table. The body of the email is stored in a .doc file which begins as Dear Mr. _. The SQL server will read this file, append the last name of the contact in the blank space and send it to the corresponding email address for that last name. Any thoughts on how to proceed with this? I'm currently using 2 stored procedures . - one which runs a select * from flat_file into a temp table - the other which does a select min/max from flat_file grouping by source into another temp file Im using the data retrieved using the stored procedures in a SSRS report Is is possible in a a single stored procedure to retrieve all the rows from the file within a date range and also identify the min/max values for each group retrieved ?e

Hello together, my Question is quite simple. I have an add-button. When I tap on it -- presentmodelviewController presents a UIViewController, which contains a simple Table with cells. When I tap on a Cell, i want to display a new View using pushViewController, which automatically creates a "back Button". At the top of it in this new View i have a Textfield, where I can enter some Text. When I tap the back-button, the view slides back to the add-View (which was presented using modalView...). Now i want the text edited in the view before to be placed in the Label of the first row (cell) on which I tapped. So I want to do this for 5 cells. Each of them presenting another xib. Properties in partial class not appearing in Data Sources window!

Entity Framework has created the required partial classes. I can add these partial classes to the Data Sources window and the properties display as expected. However, if I extend any of the classes in a separate source file these properties do not appear in the Data Sources window even after a build and refresh. All properties in partial classes across source files work as expected in the Data Sources window except when the partial class has been created with EF. EDIT: After removing the offending table for edm designer, adding back in it all works are expected. Hardly a long term solution. Anyone else come across a similar problem?

Create a set column with database migration in rails

Hello. I need to add a new column to my users table in the database. I want the type of the column to be set. The column represents the users gender. There should be two options to the set. One form Male "m" and the other for Female "f". But i havent found any doccumentation for adding a column with the set type. How can i do this?

UISearchDisplayController changing row height

I've set my UITableView row height to in Interface Builder to 54.0. I have a UISearchDisplayController on that view. When the user taps the search bar in it, the table resizes properly. However, when they start typing (and actually doing the search) the row height decreases. It stays wrong until the search taps Cancel. I could find no documentation on this behavior on Apple's site. I've tried setting the row height in UISearchDisplayDelegate delegate calls. This might be the right approach, but I don't know the details and couldn't get it ti work. I've also tried implementing -- (CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView -heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath;. This worked, but I have thousands of entries in this list and can't take the performance hit. What's the right way to fix this?

Suppose I have a map: <map name="externalIds" table="album_external_ids"> <key column="album_id" not-null="true"/> <map-key-many-to-many class="Major" column="major_id"/> <element column="external_id" type="string" not-null="true"/> </map> How do I make a HQL meaning "select entities where map key's id == :foo and map value == :bar"? I can join it using select album from Album album join album.externalIds ids But how would I then refer to ids' key and value? ids.key.id = :foo and ids.value = :bar doesn't work, and hibernate doc is silent on this topic. have an action that generates active vacancies. Database Schema for survey polling application with a default choice.

I have a survey application, where users can create surveys and give choices for every survey. Other users can choose their answers for the aurvey and then polls are taken to get the results of the survey. I already have the database schema for this Questions id, user_id, category_id, question_text, date_started Answers id, user_id, question_id, choice_id, explanation, date_added Choices id, question_id, choice_text As for now, users can choose their own choice answers to their surveys... but I want to be able to add a default "I dont care" or "I dont know" choice to every survey for people who simply dont care about the topic to take sides or who cant choose. So lets say theres a survey that asks who was a better president, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagon, or Richard Nixon... I want to be able to add a default "I dont care" option. I was thinking to just add that extra choice EVERY TIME a user creates a survey, but then I wouldn't have much control over the text for that choice after that survey has been created, and I want to know if theres a better way to do this, like create another table or something Thanks

Using Solr and Zends Lucene port together...

Afternoon chaps, After my adventures with Zend-Lucene-Search, and discovering it isn't all its cracked up to be when indexing large datasets, I've turned to Solr (thanks to Bill Karwin for that :) ) I've got Solr indexing the db far far quicker now, taking just over 8 minutes to index a table of just over 1.7million rows - which I'm very pleased with. However, when I come to try and search the index with the Zend port, I run into the following error; Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Zend_Search_Lucene_Exception' with message 'Unsupported segments file format' in /var/www/Zend/Search/Lucene.php:407 Stack trace: #0 /var/www/Zend/Search/Lucene.php(555): Zend_Search_Lucene-_readSegmentsFile() #1 /var/www/z_search.php(12): Zend_Search_Lucene-__construct('tmp/feeds_index') #2 {main} thrown in /var/www/Zend/Search/Lucene.php on line 407 I've tried to have a search around but can't seem to find anything about this problem, everyone just seems to be able to get them to work? Hi all, I'm currently working on some scope filters, and I'd like to have it filter on a method (don't know how to name it otherwise). My code: class Product < ActiveRecord::Base def price_with_discount price-discount.to_f end scope :by_price, lambda {|min,max|{ :conditions => { :price_with_discount => min.to_f..max.to_f }}} end This doesn't work: "No attribute named price_with_discount exists for table products". How can I trick my scope into using the method I defined instead of searching for a column named price_with_discount? Bjorn
