• Facebook Graph API authentication in canvas app and track session

  Short question is: how can i use graph api oauth redirects mechanism to authenticate user and save retrieved access_token and also use javascript SDK when needed (the problem is javascript SDK will have different access_token when initialized). I have initially setup my facebook iframe canvas app, with single sign on. This works well with graph api, as I am able to use access_token saved by facebook's javascript when it detects sessionchange(user logged in). But, I want to rather not do single sign-on. But, use graph api redirect and force user to send to a permissions dialog. But, if he has already given permissions, I shouldn't redirect user. How to handle this? Another question: I have done graph api redirects for authentication and have retrieved access_token also. But then, what if I want to use javascript call FB.ui to do stream.Publish? I think it will use it's own access_token which is set during FB.init and detecting session. So, I am looking for some path here. How to use graph api for authentication and also use facebook's javascript SDK when needed. P.S. I'm using ASP .NET MVC 2. I have an authentication filter developed, which needs to detect the user's authentication state and redirect.(currently it does this to graph api authorize url)

• c++ OpenCV CVCalibrateCamera2 is causing multiple errors

  I am making a simple calibration program in C++ using OpenCV. Everything goes fine until I actually try to call CVCalibrateCamera2. At this point, I get one of several errors: If the number of images which I am using is equal to 4 (which is the number of points being drawn from each image: OpenCV Error: Sizes of input arguments do not match (Both matrices must have the same number of points) in unknown function, file ......\src\cv\cvfundam.cpp, line 870 If the number of images is below 20: OpenCV Error: Bad argument (The total number of matrix elements is not divisible by the new number of rows) in unknown function, file ......\src\cxcore\cxarray.cpp, line 2749 Otherwise, if the number of image is 20 or above: OpenCV Error: Unsupported format or combination of formats (Invalid matrix type) in unknown function, file ......\src\cxcore\cxarray.cpp, line 117 I have checked the arguments for CVCalibrateCamera2 many times, and I am certain that they are of the correct dimensions relative to one another. It seems like somewhere the program is trying to reshape a matrix based on the number of images, but I can't figure out where or why. Any ideas? I am using Eclipse Galileo, MINGW 5.1.6, and OpenCV 2.1.

• How to know when StatusBar size changed (iPhone)

  I have UITabBarController with 2 tabs. One resizes just fine, when StatusBar size changes (emulator "Toggle In-Call Status Bar" menu item). The other one doesn't. The problematic tab item contains a static view, which dynamically loads one or another view depending on certain things. While getting this setup working I discovered that main tab view did NOT automagically send e.g. viewWillAppear and viewWillDisappear messages to my dynamic subviews.   I'm trying to perform two-way data binding on the controls in my user control, which is hosted inside a FormView template. I know this because the FormView tries to call an update method on the ObjectDataSource that does not have an argument called 'Title'. I tried to solve this by implementing IBindableTemplate to load the controls that are inside my user control, directly into the templates (just like I had entered them declaratively like in the code above). However, when calling UpdateItem in edit mode, the container that gets passed into the ExtractValues method of the template, does not contain the TextBox anymore. It did in view mode! I have found some questions on SO that relate to this problem but they are rather dated and they don't provide any answers that helped me solve this problem. How do you think I could solve this problem? It seems to be such a simple requirement but apparently it's more like opening a can of worms...

• object_getInstanceVariable works for float, int, bool, but not for double?

  I've got object_getInstanceVariable to work as here however it seems to only work for floats, bools and ints not doubles. I do suspect I'm doing something wrong but I've been going in circles with this. float myFloatValue; float someFloat = 2.123f; object_getInstanceVariable(self, "someFloat", (void*)&myFloatValue); works, and myFloatValue = 2.123 but when I try double myDoubleValue; double someDouble = 2.123f; object_getInstanceVariable(self, "someDouble", (void*)&myDoubleValue); i get myDoubleValue = 0. If I try to set myDoubleValue before the function eg. double myDoubleValue = 1.2f, the value is unchanged when I read it after the object_getInstanceVariable call. setting myIntValue to some other value before the getinstancevar function above returns 2 as it should, ie. it has been changed. then I tried Ivar tmpIvar = object_getInstanceVariable(self, "someDouble", (void*)&myDoubleValue); if i do ivar_getName(tmpIvar) i get "someDouble", but myDoubuleValue = 0 still! then i try ivar_getTypeEncoding(tmpIvar) and i get "d" as it should be. So to summarize, if typeEncoding = float, it works, if it is a double, the result is not set but it correctly reads the variable and the return value (Ivar) is also correct. I must be doing something basic wrong that I cant see so I'd appreciate if someone could point it out.

• Best way to be able to pick multiple colors/designs of symbols dynamically from flash

  Sorry the title's so convoluted... I must've tried for ten minutes to get a good, descriptive title! Basically, here's the scenario. Let's say a user can pick fifty different hat colors and styles to put on an avatar. The avatar can move his head around, so we'd need the same types of movements in the symbol for when that happens. Additionally, it gets which hat should be on the 'avatar' from a database. The problem is that we can't just make 50 different frames with a different hat on each. And each hat symbol will have the same movements, it'll just be different styles, colors and sizes. So how can I make one variable that is the HAT, that way we can just put the appropriate hat symbol into the variable and always be able to call Hat.gotoAndplay('tip_hat') or any other generic functions.... Does that make sense? Hope that's not too confusing. Sorry, I'm not great at the visual Flash stuff, but it's gotta be done! Thanks!

• Multiple Out-of-Browser Applications in One Application

  I'm looking at a scenario where I need to create a single "master" Silverlight application and then add "child" applications for an out-of-browser Silverlight application. The scenario is something like this. A user will visit a gameboard web site and choose a game to play. Let's call it Checkers. He likes it, so then he installs the out-of-browser app to his desktop. He then finds Chess, and installs that too. For both games, while played on the site, he has stats (games played, win/loss records, etc.). For each game on the site, he navigates to a different page. But now he wants to play offline and view his stats and other cross-games information. He wants to have a single app to launch to play either game. From his single out-of-browser app, he sees that Go is also available, and he places a checkmark against it to download on his next connection. Does anyone have any experience at developing multiple out-of-browser Silverlight apps that reside within a single master app? What considerations need to be had for this type of design? How would this work in terms of install experience from different web pages?

• Using a CALayer in UITableViewCell

  On each cell of my table view I want to have a bar that the user can slide out from the right. On the bar I plan to have icons. So, to do this I subclassed UITableViewCell. On the cell I have implemented drawRect and in there I have already drawn a gradient and background color on the cell. From there, I can create a CALayer, give it a frame & background color, and add it as a sub layer to the Views subLayers array. I can do all that and it will display my layer on each UITableViewCell. I have added touch events to the cell so I can detect when the user touches the cell and for testing I have made it so when the user swipes, my CALayer gets wider. But the issue is, when the UITableView scrolls and reuses a cell whose CALayer has been widened, it doesn't recreate the CALayer. I have tried [myLayer setNeedsDisplay] and used the drawLayer:inContext method of its delegate and it doesn't get called. I have also tried telling call setNeedsDisplay on the cell in my UITableViewController hoping that that will cause a redraw, but it doesn't work. I'm not sure what I'm missing. I am new to CoreGraphics & CoreAnimation. I have read through the CoreAnimation Developers Guide, but I'm assuming I missing something. Any help would be great.

• English Error Messages in German Visual Studio 2008 / ASP.NET

  This might be a bit weird question, but I'll give it a shot: HELP, my Visual Studio 2008 / ASP.NET is giving me GERMAN error messages. Besides the fact that translations tend to be not as good as the original text, I can't search for those and find relevant answers to my problems on the internet. So: How do I switch my German Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition to English locals? Update - Just to make it clear: I am a German developer, working with a German Windows Vista... I also have a German version of Visual Studio, so it is not surprising, that everything is German. Is just don't want it that way... There must be a way to install english locals into my Visual Studio, though? Or uninstall german ones, so that default english is used?!? (BTW: Same thing for SQL Server Management Studio, too. F**k "Sichten". I want "Views". That's how you really call them. No one says "Sichten", not even here in Germany, and not even though it is translated correctly).

• How do I create a .NET Web Service that Posts items to a users Facebook Wall?

  I'm currently toying around with the Clarity .NET Facebook API but am finding certain situations with authentication to be kind of limiting. I keep going through the tutorials but always end up hitting a brick wall with what I want to do. Perhaps I just cannot do it? I want to make a Web Service that takes in the require credentials (APIKey, SecretKey, UsersId (or Session Key?) and whatever else I would need), and then do various tasks: Post to users wall, add events etc. The problem I am having is this: The current documentation, examples and support provide a way to do this within the context of a Web site. Within this context, the required "connect" popup can be initiated and allow the user to authenticate and and connect the application. From that point on the Web can go on with its business to do what it needs to do. If I close the browser and come back to the page, I have to push the connect button again. Except this time, since I was already logged into facebook, I don't have to go through the whole connection process. But still ... How do applications like Tweetdeck get around this? They seemingly have you connect once, when you install their application, and you don't have to do it again. I would assume that this same idea would have to applied towards making a web service because: You don't know what context the user is in when making the Web service call. The web service methods being called could be coming from a Windows Form app, or code behind in a workflow.

• Error displaying a WinForm in Design mode with a custom control on it.

  I have a UserControl that is part of a Class library. I reference this project from my solution. This adds a control from the referenced project to my toolbox. I add tghe control to a form. Everything looks good, I compile all and run. Perfect... But when I close the .frm with the control on it and re-open it, I get this error. The code continues to run. It may have something to do with namespaces. The original namespace was simply "Design" and this was ambiguous and conflicting so i decided to rename it. I think that's when my problems began. I see that lazy is intended to be lazy, but I don't understand how that is accomplished. -- | Identity function. id :: a -> a id x = x -- | The call '(lazy e)' means the same as 'e', but 'lazy' has a -- magical strictness property: it is lazy in its first argument, -- even though its semantics is strict. lazy :: a -> a lazy x = x -- Implementation note: its strictness and unfolding are over-ridden -- by the definition in MkId.lhs; in both cases to nothing at all. -- That way, 'lazy' does not get inlined, and the strictness analyser -- sees it as lazy. Then the worker/wrapper phase inlines it. -- Result: happiness Tracking down the note in MkId.lhs (hopefully this is the right note and version, sorry if it's not): Note [lazyId magic] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ lazy :: forall a?. a? -> a? (i.e. works for unboxed types too) Used to lazify pseq: pseq a b = a `seq` lazy b Also, no strictness: by being a built-in Id, all the info about lazyId comes from here, not from GHC.Base.hi. This is important, because the strictness analyser will spot it as strict! Also no unfolding in lazyId: it gets "inlined" by a HACK in CorePrep. It's very important to do this inlining after unfoldings are exposed in the interface file. Otherwise, the unfolding for (say) pseq in the interface file will not mention 'lazy', so if we inline 'pseq' we'll totally miss the very thing that 'lazy' was there for in the first place. See Trac #3259 for a real world example. lazyId is defined in GHC.Base, so we don't have to inline it. If it appears un-applied, we'll end up just calling it. I don't understand that because it refers to lazyId instead of lazy. How does lazy work?

• AMF data is incomplete with Flex Service

  Hello everybody. I am bussy with a Flex Project with a data services. Flash builder installed Zend Framework with Zend_Amf. When i run the project i get the error NetConnection.Call.Failed: HTTP: Failed. With chalers i say that Zend_Amf give the error: AMF data is incomplete (0 bytes of 0 bytes). Please check the recording limits in the Recording Settings. I don't know what the problem means. I have searched on google, but i haven't found a good result. • nHibernate Domain Model and Mapping Files in Separate Projects

  Is there a way to separate out the domain objects and mapping files into two separate projects? I would like to create one project called MyCompany.MyProduct.Core that contains my domain model, and another project that is called MyCompany.MYProduct.Data.Oracle that contains my Oracle data mappings. However, when I try to unit test this I get the following error message: Named query 'GetClients' not found. • How to convert an InputStream to a DataHandler?

  I'm working on a java web application in which files will be stored in a database. Originally we retrieved files already in the DB by simply calling getBytes on our result set: byte[] bytes = resultSet.getBytes(1); ... This byte array was then converted into a DataHandler using the obvious constructor: dataHandler=new DataHandler(bytes,"application/octet-stream"); This worked great until we started trying to store and retrieve larger files. Dumping the entire file contents into a byte array and then building a DataHandler out of that simply requires too much memory. My immediate idea is to retrieve a stream of the data in the database with getBinaryStream and somehow convert that InputStream into a DataHandler in a memory-efficient way. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like there's a direct way to convert an InputStream into a DataHandler. Another idea I've been playing with is reading chunks of data from the InputStream and writing them to the OutputStream of the DataHandler. But... I can't find a way to create an "empty" DataHandler that returns a non-null OutputStream when I call getOutputStream... Has anyone done this? I'd appreciate any help you can give me or leads in the right direction.

I'm trying to use this 'with' statement. from __future__ import with_statement a = [] with open('exampletxt.txt','r') as f: while True: a.append(f.next().strip().split()) print a The contents of 'exampletxt.txt' are simple: a b In this case, I get the error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "/tmp/python-7036sVf.py", line 5, in <module> a.append(f.next().strip().split()) StopIteration And if I replace f.next() with f.read(), it seems to be caught in an infinite loop. I wonder if I have to write a decorator class that accepts the iterator object as an argument, and define an __exit__ method for it? I know it's more pythonic to use a for-loop for iterators, but I wanted to implement a while loop within a generator that's called by a for-loop... something like def g(f): while True: x = f.next() if test1(x): a = x elif test2(x): b = f.next() yield [a,x,b] a = [] with open(filename) as f: for x in g(f): a.append(x)

  Hi there, I have a simple application to store address details and edit them. I have been away from VB for a few years now and need to refreash my knowledge while working to a tight deadline. I have a general Sub responsible for displaying a form where user can add contact details (by pressing button add) and edit them (by pressing button edit). This sub is stored in a class Contact. The way it is supposed to work is that there is a list with all the contacts and when new contact is added a new entry is displayed. If user wants to edit given entry he or she selects it and presses edit button Public Sub Display() Dim C As New Contact C.Cont = InputBox("Enter a title for this contact.") C.Fname = frmAddCont.txtFName.Text C.Surname = frmAddCont.txtSName.Text C.Address = frmAddCont.txtAddress.Text frmStart.lstContact.Items.Add(C.Cont.ToString) End Sub I call it from the form responsible for adding new contacts by Dim C As New Contact C.Display() and it works just fine. However when I try to do something similar using the edit button I get errors - "Unable to cast object of type 'System.String' to type 'AddressBook.Contact'." Dim C As Contact If lstContact.SelectedItem IsNot Nothing Then C = lstContact.SelectedItem() C.Display() End If I think it may be something simple however I wasn't able to fix it and given short time I have I decided to ask for help here. • Adding BarButtons to a UINavigationBar after presenting a modal view controller.

  I'm using the template for a "Utility Application". In the "FlipSideViewController", I added an IBOutlet for a UINavigationController, navController. In the code, I added the navController just fine. The rootViewController loads perfectly: navController.viewControllers = [[NSArray arrayWithObject:rootViewController] retain]; [self.view addSubview:navController.view]; I changed the color of the navController just fine: navController.navigationBar.tintColor = [UIColor colorWithRed:0.6 green:0.75 blue:0.6 alpha:1.0]; navController.navigationBar.translucent = NO; I make a button (note: "done" refers to a IBAction that dismisses the modalviewcontroller): UIBarButtonItem *backButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"TEST" style:UIBarButtonItemStyleDone target:self action:@selector(done:)]; I make a navItem using that button: UINavigationItem *backNavItem = [[UINavigationItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"TESTTEST"]; [backNavItem setRightBarButtonItem:backButton animated:YES]; I try to add that button: [navController.navigationBar pushNavigationItem:backNavItem animated:YES]; This above code fails miserably. I apparently can't add buttons to the navController because: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'Cannot call pushNavigationItem:animated: directly on a UINavigationBar managed by a controller.' Do I have to make a separate UINavigationBar that's somehow connected to my navController? I tried going that route but with no avail.

• Versioning friendly, extendible binary file format

  In the project I'm currently working on there is a need to save a sizable data structure to disk (edit: think dozens of MB's). Being an optimist, I thought that there must be a standard solution for such a problem; however, up to now I haven't found a solution that satisfies the following requirements: .NET 2.0 support, preferably with a FOSS implementation Version friendly (this should be interpreted as: reading an old version of the format should be relatively simple if the changes in the underlying data structure are simple, say adding/dropping fields) Ability to do some form of random access where part of the data can be extended after initial creation (think of this as extending intermediate results) Space and time efficient (XML has been excluded as option given this requirement) Options considered so far: Protocol Buffers: was turned down by verdict of the documentation about Large Data Sets - since this comment suggested adding another layer on top, this would call for additional complexity which I wish to have handled by the file format itself. HDF5,EXI: do not seem to have .net implementations SQLite/SQL Server Compact edition: the data structure at hand would result in a pretty complex table structure that seems too heavyweight for the intended use BSON: does not appear to support requirement 3. Fast Infoset: only seems to have paid .NET implementations. Any recommendations or pointers are greatly appreciated. Furthermore if you believe any of the information above is not true, please provide pointers/examples to prove me wrong.

• GAE AttributeError

  My GAE app runs fine from my computer, but when I upload it, I start getting an AttributeError, specifically: AttributeError: 'dict' object has no attribute 'item' I am using the pylast interface (an API for last.fm--link). Specifically, I am accessing a list of variables of this type: SimilarItem = _namedtuple("SimilarItem", ["item", "match"]) I have a variable of this type, call it sim, and I am trying to access sim.item when I get the attribute error. I should note that I am using Python 2.6 on my computer, and I understand that GAE runs on Python 2.5. Would that make a difference here? I thought they were backwards-compatible. Lastly, I think it could be a possible problem with the modules that pylast imports--maybe they don't work with GAE or something? I did some research but I didn't get any results. • Silverlight HttpWebRequest.Create hangs inside async block

  I am trying to prototype a Rpc Call to a JBOSS webserver from Silverlight (4). I have written the code and it is working in a console application - so I know that Jboss is responding to the web request. Porting it to silverlight 4, is causing issues: let uri = new Uri(queryUrl) // this is the line that hangs let request : HttpWebRequest = downcast WebRequest.Create(uri) request.Method <- httpMethod; request.ContentType <- contentType It may be a sandbox issue, as my silverlight is being served off of my file system and the Uri is a reference to the localhost - though I am not even getting an exception. Thoughts? Thx UPDATE 1 I created a new project and ported my code over and now it is working; something must be unstable w/ regard to the F# Silverlight integration still. Still would appreciate thoughts on debugging the "hanging" web create in the old model...
