  Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone knows how to prevent the contents of a uiscrollview from moving unsteadily when scrolling manually by setting the content offset. When scrolling by touch the text remains clear and steady. I would like to recreate this by animating with the animated option set to false. I'm using a timer to scroll at a given interval. The text is being drawn to a view in the contents, but it vibrates and it becomes more difficult to read clearly when animating at a greater speed. The speed varies and the scrolling must respond to changes in speed quickly. • Aaron Hillegass Chapter 18 Challenge Question

  I am working through Aaron Hillegass' Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X and am doing the challenge for Chapter 18. Basically, the challenge is to write an app that can draw ovals using your mouse, and then additionally, add saving/loading and undo support. I'm trying to think of a good class design for this app that follows MVC. Here's what I had in mind: Have a NSView-subclass that represents an oval (say JBOval) that I can use to easily draw an oval. Have a main view (JBDrawingView) that holds JBOvals and draws them. The thing is that I wasn't sure how to add archiving. Should I archive each JBOval? I think this would work, but archiving an NSView doesn't seem very efficient. Any ideas on a better class design? Thanks.

• Eclipse thinks there are problems with my Android project...

  I have an Android project and Eclipse is telling me my project has an error with its build path. Specifically, the problem view shows "The project cannot be built until build path errors are resolved". The entire project builds just fine, meaning there are no red X's on any of the files. I can build the project outside of Eclipse, deploy it to the device, and it runs just fine, so I know there isn't a problem with my source code or layouts. The strange thing is when I remove the 'src' folder from the build path in Eclipse, clean and build the project, then re-add the 'src' folder to the build path and build the project it works again. However, within a few changes it gives me the same problem. Has anyone else encountered this before? Does anyone know of a solution? It's driving me mad! Thanks, -Dan

  We're using xVal and the standard DataAnnotationsValidationRunner described here to collect validation errors from our domain objects and view models in ASP.NET MVC. I'd like to have a way to have that validation runner identify when two properties don't match through the use of custom DataAnnotations. Right now I'm forced into doing it outside of the runner, this way: if (!(model.FieldOne == model.FieldTwo)) errors.Add(new ErrorInfo("FieldTwo", "FieldOne must match FieldTwo", model.FieldTwo)); My question is: can this be done using property-level validation attributes, or am I forced into using class-level attributes (in which case, I'd have to modify the runner...and my follow up question would be how best to retrieve them in that case).   Can anyone recommend a decent business intelligence & reporting application that can be integrated into an OEM application? Primary requirements are: Administrators can define cubes/dimensions etc (or we - the OEM - can predefine some) Report designers can easily inspect data by visually selecting dimensions, filters etc in an adhoc way that is quickly output with little upfront investment Report designers can design a report based on dimensions/filters and save their definition to be run as required Report viewers can view the reports defined by the report designers All of this plus in .NET that can be branded/integrated into our existing web application's look and feel. Permissions need to work off our user/groups system. I've found a few that look good, but they are all in Java and I don't want to ask our clients to install ASP.NET for the app, and then Java, tomcat etc just for reporting. Thanks

• ASP.NET MVC2 Data Access Layer

  For a small/medium sized project I'm trying to figure out what is the 'ideal' way to have a domain layer and data access layer. My opinions on coupling tend to be more towards the view that the domain models should not be tightly coupled with the database layer, in other words the data access layer shouldn't actually know anything about the domain objects. I've been looking at Linq-to-sql and it wants to use its own models that it creates, and so it ends up VERY tightly coupled. Whilst I love the way you use linq-to-sql in code I really don't like the way it wants to make its own domain objects. What are some alternatives that I should consider? I tried use NHibernate but I did not like the way I had to use to query and get different objects. I honestly love the syntax and way you use linq, I just don't want it to be so tightly coupled to domain objects.

• JQuery Pure Template

  I cant figure out whats wrong. Its working when i tried to refresh only topics but it doesnt works when tried to refresh topics and page-links. ie. topics table's refreshing, and 'pagelinks' disappearing, i thought pure cannot reach - read second template node. By the way, i tested their code, first message box show up all of nodes - includes 'pagelinks' node, but second one - in function only show up topic rows. Its look like a bug. Anyone knows how can i solve this? ps. I'm using latest version of pure. Thanks. • Drupal Views Multiple values being returned when using a relationship

  I am having a problem with views. I have a view and am passing it a taxonomy term by name to it. I then have a relationship to a related node. For my output fields I am returning the related Title and related Body. I however have duplicates in my results. I have turned distinct to yes but believe this is working on the nodes being return and not the related node. Any ideas how I can remove the duplicates?

• "Symbol not found" error for UIPopoverController in an iPhone/iPad Universal App

  In a universal binary iPhone/iPad app of mine, users are able to adjust preferences in a view controller that's presented modally. On the iPhone, the settings panel is presented with presentModalViewController:animated:, and on the iPad, I use a UIPopoverController. I'm having a heck of a time completely isolating the UIPopoverController code away from the iPhone code. Everytime I compile for the iPhone, I get the following error: dyld: Symbol not found: _OBJC_CLASS_$_UIPopoverController Referenced from: /var/mobile/Applications/CBB37F87-AA6D-47E2-823A-E259E3268A32/MyApp debug.app/MyApp Expected in: /System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/UIKit This is of course because UIKit on the iPhone doesn't have a UIPopoverController class. Does anybody have advice for how to effectively isolate the iPad API includes from the iPhone code, so I can actually run my code?

  I'm having trouble adjusting PhantomJS to create a PNG file that matches the original browser presentation. Here is the entire sample html file. It's a sankey diagram creating using rCharts and d3-sankey. (You'll need to save the file to your hard drive and view it from there.) I've played around with various CSS attributes (text-shadow) and webkit-specific attributes (e.g., -webkit-text-rendering), but can't seem to make it go away. Is this a setting in PhantomJS? in the underlying webkit? or somewhere else? Many thanks!

The situation is as follows: * New CRM 2011 toolkit solution * New project added for Xaml workflow * Adding CRM "Workflow" activity causes error The error: It shows a redbox "Could not generate view for Workflow" The Exception: System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. --- System.IO.IOException: Cannot locate resource 'workflowdesigner.xaml' I have VS 2012 SP2 with the latest (June) CRM SDK Toolkit installed. I did a clean install of the toolkit so it's not "upgraded" to prevent any old assemblies being referenced. I tried the things from the referenced question and moved the assemblies over and also re-referenced the latest assemblies to make sure everything works fine. I also tried downloading a workflow XAML created in CRM and opening but it gives the same error. I also opened the "example" workflow XAML solution in the SDK, again same result.

• Integrating Code Metrics in TFS 2010 Build

Yesterday Microsoft finally releases a Visual Studio Code Metrics Power Tool 10.0, a command line tool that lets you run code metrics on your applications.  This means that it is now possible to perform code metrics analysis on the build server as part of your nightly/QA builds (for example). In this post I will show how you can run the metrics command line tool, and also a custom activity that reads the output and appends the results to the build log, and also fails he build if the metric values exceeds certain (configurable) treshold values. The code metrics tool analyzes all the methods in the assemblies, measuring cyclomatic complexity, class coupling, depth of inheritance and lines of code. Then it calculates a Maintainability Index from these values that is a measure f how maintanable this method is, between 0 (worst) and 100 (best). For information on hwo this value is calculated, see http://blogs.msdn.com/b/codeanalysis/archive/2007/11/20/maintainability-index-range-and-meaning.aspx. After this it aggregates the information and present it at the class, namespace and module level as well. Running Metrics.exe in a build definition Running the actual tool is easy, just use a InvokeProcess activity last in the Compile the Project sequence, reference the metrics.exe file and pass the correct arguments and you will end up with a result XML file in the drop directory. Here is how it is done in the attached build process template: In the above sequence I first assign the path to the code metrics result file ([BinariesDirectory]\result.xml) to a variable called MetricsResultFile, which is then sent to the InvokeProcess activity in the Arguments property. Here are the arguments for the InvokeProcess activity: Note that we tell metrics.exe to analyze all assemblies located in the Binaries folder. You might want to do some more intelligent filtering here, you probably don’t want to analyze all 3rd party assemblies for example. Note also the path to the metrics.exe, this is the default location when you install the Code Metrics power tool. You must of course install the power tool on all build servers. Using the standard output logging (in the Handle Standard Output/Handle Error Output sections), we get the following output when running the build: Integrating Code Metrics into the build Having the results available next to the build result is nice, but we want to have results integrated in the build result itself, and also to affect the outcome of the build. The point of having QA builds that measure, for example, code metrics is to make it very clear how the code being built measures up to the standards of the project/company. Just having a XML file available in the drop location will not cause the developers to improve their code, but a (partially) failing build will! To do this, we need to write a custom activity that parses the metrics result file, logs it to the build log and fails the build if the values frfom the metrics is below/above some predefined treshold values. The custom activity performs the following steps Parses the XML. I’m using Linq 2 XSD for this, since the XML schema for the result file is available, it is vey easy to generate code that lets you query the structure using standard Linq operators. Runs through the metric result hierarchy and logs the metrics for each level and also verifies maintainability index and the cyclomatic complexity with the treshold values. The treshold values are defined in the build process template are are sent in as arguments to the custom activity If the treshold values are exceeded, the activity either fails or partially fails the current build. For more information about the structure of the code metrics result file, read Cameron Skinner's post about it. It is very simpe and easy to understand. I won’t go through the code of the custom activity here, since there is nothing special about it and it is available for download so you can look at it and play with it yourself. The treshold values for Maintainability Index and Cyclomatic Complexity is defined in the build process template, and can be modified per build definition: I have taken the default value for these settings from my colleague Terje Sandström post on Code Metrics - suggestions for approriate limits. You’ll notice that this is quite an improvement compared to using code metrics inside the IDE, where Red/Yellow/Green limits are fixed (and the default values are somewaht strange, see Terjes post for a discussion on this) This is the first version of the code metrics integration with TFS 2010 Build, I will proabably enhance the functionality and the logging (the “tree view” structure in the log becomes quite hard to read) soon. I will also consider adding it to the Community TFS Build Extensions site when it becomes a bit more mature. Another obvious improvement is to extend the data warehouse of TFS and push the metric results back to the warehouse and make it visible in the reports.

  Hi Folks! I want to use the scrollview as something like a picker in horizontal mode. The scrollview holds up to seven subviews. Each subview represents a value. Always three views are visible and the one in the middle is the selected one. Scrollview visible at start: __ | V1 | V2 Scrollview set to view/value two: V1 | V2 | V3 Scrollview set to last value: V2 | V3 | __ The real problem I have got is the "pagingEnabled" flag. If pagingEnabled is set to YES the scrollview pages always three subviews/values instead of only one. If pagingEnabled is set to NO the scrollview does not clinch. • ASP.NET Web API - Screencast series Part 4: Paging and Querying

  We're continuing a six part series on ASP.NET Web API that accompanies the getting started screencast series. This is an introductory screencast series that walks through from File / New Project to some more advanced scenarios like Custom Validation and Authorization. The screencast videos are all short (3-5 minutes) and the sample code for the series is both available for download and browsable online. I did the screencasts, but the samples were written by the ASP.NET Web API team. In Part 1 we looked at what ASP.NET Web API is, why you'd care, did the File / New Project thing, and did some basic HTTP testing using browser F12 developer tools. In Part 2 we started to build up a sample that returns data from a repository in JSON format via GET methods. In Part 3, we modified data on the server using DELETE and POST methods. In Part 4, we'll extend on our simple querying methods form Part 2, adding in support for paging and querying. This part shows two approaches to querying data (paging really just being a specific querying case) - you can do it yourself using parameters passed in via querystring (as well as headers, other route parameters, cookies, etc.). You're welcome to do that if you'd like. What I think is more interesting here is that Web API actions that return IQueryable automatically support OData query syntax, making it really easy to support some common query use cases like paging and filtering. A few important things to note: This is just support for OData query syntax - you're not getting back data in OData format. The screencast demonstrates this by showing the GET methods are continuing to return the same JSON they did previously. So you don't have to "buy in" to the whole OData thing, you're just able to use the query syntax if you'd like. This isn't full OData query support - full OData query syntax includes a lot of operations and features - but it is a pretty good subset: filter, orderby, skip, and top. All you have to do to enable this OData query syntax is return an IQueryable rather than an IEnumerable. Often, that could be as simple as using the AsQueryable() extension method on your IEnumerable. Query composition support lets you layer queries intelligently. If, for instance, you had an action that showed products by category using a query in your repository, you could also support paging on top of that. The result is an expression tree that's evaluated on-demand and includes both the Web API query and the underlying query. So with all those bullet points and big words, you'd think this would be hard to hook up. Nope, all I did was change the return type from IEnumerable<Comment> to IQueryable<Comment> and convert the Get() method's IEnumerable result using the .AsQueryable() extension method. public IQueryable<Comment> GetComments() { return repository.Get().AsQueryable(); } You still need to build up the query to provide the $top and $skip on the client, but you'd need to do that regardless.   I am new to iphone development.I have created UISegmentedControl having 2 segments.
