• How and where do you manage your domain names?

  In the past several years doing web development I often times needed to buy new domain names. I changed registrars a lot also so over the years I have multiple domain names scattered over different registrars all over the world. Now I want to bring a little structure into my business, and I am at the point that I want to be able to have easy control over my domain names in a convenient way. Does anyone have an idea on what the best way is to give structure on this. I have made some suggestions maybe you can comment on them for me. 1) Just leave it as it is I can leave everything as it is. To make adjustments I have to log into different panels, and for some registrars I have to email the changes. 2) Transfer all the domains to one registar This will cost a lot, about 10 usd per domain name. But if I can find a registar where I have full control over DNS this is worth looking at. Can you give me some comments on how you are doing things now. Maybe also which registrar you prefer on doing things.

  I am having trouble validating my xml schema. I get these errors on the schema 113: 18 s4s-elt-invalid-content.1: The content of '#AnonType_user' is invalid. 164: 17 s4s-elt-invalid-content.1: The content of '#AnonType_festival' is invalid. Element 'sequence' is invalid, misplaced, or occurs too often. and becuase of those 2 errors, i am getting loads of the same error. • Nameserver not resolving or domain not pingable [closed]

  Sorry, if anyone can think of a better title please change it! I want to host my own websites from home. For testing purposes, I have a virtual machine running a trial version of Windows Server 2008 Enterprise. Note I currently run a VPS and host my own websites but due to a nice speed upgrade on our line I now want to host from home. I have several domains but I wanted to test with one, that is rickyoleary.com. Our ISP does not provide static IP addresses unless we have a business account so I've been looking at no-ip.com. I admit my networking isn't the best, hence this question but I've been bashing my head all day on this one. I created a host name, muffinbubble.no-ip.org which runs on IP: 86.148.124.15. I've setup IIS on the server with a simple test page. I've then forwarded port 80 traffic from the router and from what I can see, it's working. If I access my website (I was unable to link to this for some reason so please copy and paste this) - http://86.148.124.15/ - I see my test page. So the next step was to create my nameservers. This domain is with namecheap.com so I created my nameservers, ns1.rickyoleary.com and ns2.rickyoleary.com. Both these point to the same IP (and yes, that will be changed after testing), the same IP as above: 86.148.124.15. On the server itself I have set up DNS entries as below which I believe to be correct and added rickyoleary.com and www.rickyoleary.com in the host headers (or bindings) in IIS 7.0. If I try and look up my domain, rickyoleary.com it shows ns1.rickyoleary.com and ns2.rickyoleary.com as the nameservers. I then tried to use just-ping.com on my nameserver ns1.rickyoleary.com. I get 100% packets lost, but the correct IP address is returned (I'm guessing the router does not allow pings, but is still accessible...). I get no response when pinging rickyoleary.com. Here's the problems: I cannot ping ns1.rickyoleary.com or ns2.rickyoleary.com from a command prompt. I'm not sure if this is an issue. When I added the nameservers in Windows Server 2008 and clicked 'resolve' a message box displays stating "No such host is known". I cannot ping rickyoleary.com. rickyoleary.com is not showing my test page on my server. Now - please note, I've waited around 6 hours for propagation. From my experience, although you're told to wait 24 - 48 hours, the changes are normally pretty quick so perhaps I'm being impatient or naive to think it should all be working fine until then. I would really appreciate some help here. Thanks.

• PHP: gethostbyname() suddenly no longer resolves names to IPs when run in Apache

  One of our older legacy servers which gets no further updates or reconfigurations suddenly stopped resolving hostnames to IPs when PHP is executed within Apache. However, it still works fine when executed from the CLI. From the RSS caches last modification time, I deduce that it stopped working on around Mar, 28th. To reproduce the problem, I created a script using fsockopen() and it said "connection failed (errno 2)". I further reduced the problem to being related with a failed name resolution: <?php $addr = gethostbyname("twitter.com"); echo "ADDR($addr)"; ?> When I run this through Apache, the output is ADDR(twitter.com), which is wrong. When I run this from the CLI, the output is ADDR(aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd) with varying IP addresses, as expected. Nothing on the server setup has changed. CLI and Apache module share the same php.ini. PHP is version v4.4.9 with Zend Optimizer v2.5.10. Apache is v1.3.31. I know the versions are old. But since nothing has been changed, a solution like "try to upgrade versions first" is no solution as the server's feature set/versioning is frozen and will be replaced soon. Still we need a solution. If I run dig through the script, it works in both environments (mod_php and CLI) but this is more than an ugly hack as it would involve many edits and testing throughout the whole script base which is also undesired as the PHP application on the server is frozen, too, and only receives security updates. It will be replaced by a complete rewrite (on the new server). But as the rewrite will take some time and successive replace parts of the legacy application, we need a fix for the resolver problem. I already googled a bit and while the problem is known, many did not find a fix. The fix to raise memory limits did not work. Restarts did not work. The resolver in mod_php just did stop working for no apparent reason. :-(

• DNS with name.com and Amazon S3

  I have a website on a bucket in Amazon S3, and recently started to get emails from Google "Googlebot can't access your site". When I go to Webmaster Tools and I try to fetch in fact it doesn't work. Also people in locations different from mine sometimes reported they could not access the website. • Some domain names not resolving on local network

  I am not really sure where to start with this one... I have a small network setup with some linux servers (Ubuntu 11.04 Server). 2 servers are running BIND 9 (NS01, NS02), they are configured as master and slave respectively. 1 server is running Zimbra ZCS 7.1.1 (MX01), it has a private BIND 9 server running to achieve a split DNS configuration. This DNS server does not interact with the other two, it forwards queries it can resolve to the other 2 that is it. No zone transfers. Zimbra is hosting 3 domains at the moment, solignis.local, solignis.com, campbellsurvey.net. The problem From with in my network I cannot connect to mail.campbellsurvey.net. When I mean I cannot connect, I mean if I open firefox and type https://mail.campbellsurvey.net I go nowhere, the address is supposed to connect to my Zimbra webmail. But it goes nowhere, the odd thing is if I try the same task from outside of the network it brings the website up like normal. If I try to create an account in thunderbird to connect to the same server using IMAP4 or POP3 I get an error saying that thunderbird cannot find the domain name. Even the zimbra client fails too. It is like from with in my own walls that campbellsurvey.net does not exist. But if step outside I can get it work with no problem at all. I had thought maybe the problem was with the DNS server (BIND 9), so just to eliminate it as a possibility I configured a windows server I use for VMware VCenter as a DNS server to see what would happen. The result was the same, its like something is preventing connections to those domains, but I have checked various firewalls and such. I checked port forwards, etc. So I am running out of ideas I know this is not a lot of information to work from and I can give more details about certain things as needed. I am just trying to figure out what could be going wrong. Any help you could offer would be much appreciated.

  I have a long string that contains multiple css classes. With regex I would like to match every class name as I then need to replace these class names like so: <span>CLASSNAME</span> I have tried for hours to come up with a solution and I think I am close however for certain class names I am not able to exclude closing curly brackets from the match. Here is a sample string I have been carrying out testing on: #main .items-Outer p{ font-family:Verdana; color: #000000; font-size: 50px; font-weight: bold; }#footer .footer-inner p.intro{ font-family:Arial; color: #444444; font-size: 30; font-weight: normal; }.genericTxt{ font-family:Courier; color: #444444; font-size: 30; font-weight: normal; } And here is the the regex I came up with so far: ((^(?:.+?)(?:[^{]*))|((?:\})(?:.+?)(?:[^{]*))) Please look at the screenshot I am attaching as it will show more clearly the matches I get. • Why RenderTarget2D overwrites other objects when trying to put some text in a model?

  I am trying to draw an object composited by two cubes (A & B) (one on top of the other, but for now I have them a little bit more open). I am able to do it and this is the result. (Cube A is the blue and Cube B is the one with brown text that comes from a png texture) But I want to have any text as parameter in the cube B. I have tried what @alecnash suggested in his question, but for some reason when I try to draw cube B, cube A dissapears and everything turns purple.   Hi, I run a LVM setup on a raid1 created by mdadm. md2 is based on sda6 (major:minor 8:6) and sdb6 (8:22). md2 is partition 9:2. The VG on top of md2 has 4 LVs, var, home, usr, tmp. First the problem: While booting it seems as if the device mapper takes the wrong partition for the mapping! • iPad SplitView changes main navigation bar color

  Weird problem: After rotating my app to portrait, picking the toolbar item and exposing the uipopovercontroller, if I rotate back to landscape, the UINavigationController on the right side (objectAtIndex:0 of the SplitView) changes the color of the navigation bar. I am not sure why. I have it set in Interface Builder to be barStyle = UIBarStyleBlackOpaque; It turns silver after it returns to landscape mode. This only happens if I rotate it to portrait, create the popover, and select something in the navigation controller, which pushes another tableViewController. Even setting the properties in the viewDidLoad method does nothing. Anyone have an idea?

  Greetings, I am unable to control the background color of a UITextField with a borderStyle= UITextBorderStyleRoundedRect. With this border style the backgroundColor property only seems to control a very narrow line along the inner edge of the rounded rectangle. The rest of the field remains white. However, if the borderStyle is set to UIBorderStyle=UITextBorderStyleBezel then the entire background of the UITextField is controlled by its backgroundColor property. Is this a feature? Is there a way to control the backgroundColor of a UITextField with a borderStyle=UITextBorderStyleRoundedRect? Thanks, Stephen

  I have a set of hex values in an array in PHP. On my page, I have a slider which the user can "slide" to return a value between 1-100. I want to then, based on this slider value, swap all the colors in the array based on the colors "next" color based on the position in the array. An example of the same sort of thing would be like in photshop where you can rotate the hue of a layer. I want to do the same thing, in PHP, for a hex value. Any clues?

The thing is that I've got a table filled with data from a database, and what I want is to change the background colour of an specific row depending on a value of the class I'm loading in each row. The thing is that I have to display some data but as the fields to be displayed are quite a lot, I don't have more space to show an status field, so I would like to show the row in red if the status is inactive, and the rest of the rows in the normal color of the blue stylesheet. For example: When matching braces are highlighted, it's easy to see where the cursor is When I've got two or more tabs open, I can read all the titles and easily tell which one is active (maybe inactive ones look faded out) Very readable, both for regular code and for highlighting It would be nice if it was attractive I found one scheme that was ALMOST perfect (peaksea), but not quite - I couldn't read the titles of non-active tabs. So on a related note: anybody know a clear reference page for tweaking the colors of specific items?

  I am developing a WPF application that must run using Windows Classic theme. The application creates a dialog box containing a ListBox. When the dialog box is shown, it must be disabled for 1s before accepting any input. I am accomplishing this with a style trigger, and it works. However, the ListBox shows a white background when it's disabled, which I can't seem to get rid of. When using the aero theme, the following style resource fixes the issue: <SolidColorBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.ControlBrushKey}" Color="Transparent"/> But when using Windows Classic theme, the white background reappears. How can i remedy the situation for Classic theme???

  Hi All, I am writing a tool which generates some Spreadsheet ML (XML) to create an Excel spreadsheet for my users. I have defined a style as follows: <Style ss:ID="GreenText"> <Font ss:FontName="Arial" ss:Size="9" ss:Color="#8CBE50" /> </Style> This works to an extent, but when I open it in Excel the colour rendered for the text isn't the one I specified - it's a brighter version. I can use the same colour reference for a cell border and the colour is rendered correctly. Can anyone shed any light on why the text colour isn't rendered correctly? Thanks!

• How do I get selected background color from SecondView to pass to FirstView?

  I am going insane! This is a simple app with two Views. FirstView is a text field with info button to flip to SecondView. In SecondView I have 6 buttons for background color choice. When button is pushed the color of background changes perfectly but cannot make it also change background color for FirstView. Any help would be GREAT! Thanks! I am using Objective C class working on a iPhone app. Sorry new at this. The SecondView acts almost like a settings page in the fact that when a button is pushed the background color changes to the button color. I need it so when I push the "back" button to go back to FirstView the background color has also changed to that color choice.
