  • Dynamically set current domain in nginx with perl module

    i know how to set variables and use subroutines with the nginx builtin perl module INSIDE a "server" directive but, what i need to do is to set/rewrite the current domain before ... let's say, we have a domain like admin.foobar.website.com i want that a request to foobar.othersite.com points to the first address ( obviously website.com and othersite.com are hosted on the same webserver running nginx :) ). For reasons i can't explain here, i can not use multiple server_name directive expressions, i have to do this before the server {} block, with perl or anyway possible. Thanks

  • Guidance in naming awkward domain-specific objects?

    I'm modeling a chemical system, and I'm having problems with naming my objects within an enum. I'm not sure if I should use: the atomic formula the chemical name an abbreviated chemical name. For example, sulfuric acid is H2SO4 and hydrochloric acid is HCl. With those two, I would probably just use the atomic formula as they are reasonably common. However, I have others like sodium hexafluorosilicate which is Na2SiF6. In that example, the atomic formula isn't as obvious (to me) but the chemical name is hideously long: myEnum.SodiumHexaFluoroSilicate. I'm not sure how I would be able to safely come up with an abbreviated chemical name that would have a consistent naming pattern. From a maintenance point of view, which of the options would you prefer to see and why? Some details from comments on this question: Audience for the code will be just programmers, not chemists. I'm using C#, but I think this question is more interesting when ignoring the implementation language I'm starting with 10 - 20 compounds and would have at most 100 compounds. The enum is to facilitate common calculations - the equation is the same for all compounds but you insert a property of the compound to complete the equation. For example, Molar mass (in g/mol) is used when calculating the number of moles from a mass (in grams) of the compound. Another example of a common calculation is the Ideal Gas Law and its use of the Specific Gas Constant

    I'm looking for a way to force SSL and WWW. I've been able to force both separately but together I keep running into redirection issues. The following code works when handling a url in this format: "http://domain.com" and properly redirects to "https://www.domain.com" but when the incoming url is "https://domain.com" it will not forward to "https://www.domain.com" -- Any suggestions?   • Is it possible to rename an open Word document without closing it?

    I just ask this question as I do not believe that after so many versions of Word, it wouldn't exist. Usually when I'm working on a document and I realize I have to rename it, I have to close the document down, go to file explorer and then rename it, and then opening it up again. It's a procedure that's so ingrained in my usage pattern that I didn't realize until now that I'm actually having to open and close multiple windows/ applications etc. simply to rename a file. Surely, it's the year 2012, I should be able to do a simple thing like that with a few clicks right? So is there a way to just rename the file name of a word /excel / office document without having to close it first?

The founders of the company (who are leaving) want to maintain a few email addresses on Google Apps for them to use over the next year.     We build a webapp that allows users to run the app under their own subdomain. So we run the app under search.domainX.com, search.domainY.com and so on. They each have their own Google Analytics to track individual stats. But we want to know what general traffic for all clients of our app. So we want to know stuff like "among all our clients we had x number of views." What is the best way tool to track that sort of thing. We prefer a snippet based solution similar to Google Analytics if possible.

  • Seeking .htaccess help: Converting multiple subdomains (both HTTP and HTTPS) to www.domain.com using .htaccess

    I've been trying to get an answer to this question on other forums (the folks at SuperUser thought this was the place I needed to post) and via my connections, but I haven't gotten very far. Hopefully you guys can help me find an answer. I've got a dozen old subdomains that have been indexed by Google. These have been indexed as both HTTP AND HTTPS. I've managed to redirect all the subdomains properly, provided they are not HTTPS, but can't get any of the HTTPS subdomains to property redirect. Here's the code I'm using: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain1.mysite.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain2.mysite.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain3.mysite.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L] This works great until someone goes to: https://subdomain2.mysite.com$ which is not redirected back to http://www.mysite.com$ How can I get this to work? Additionally, I'm guessing there is an easier way to make it happen than setting up a dozen pairs of RewriteCond/RewriteRule? Is there any way to do this in just a few lines, including one where I list all the subdomains? I'd actually also like to redirect everything on https://www.mysite.com$ to http://www.mysite.com$ except for 3 folders. These are mysite.com/secure, mysite.com/store, mysite.com/user. Is there any good way to add this to the .htaccess file?

    I have myproduct.com which is my master product page. For UK I also own myproduct.co.uk which is a copy of myproduct.com with some localized content: landing page, promotions, prices, and specific tags. But there is also duplicate content: myproduct.com/FAQs/ is the same as myproduct.co.uk/FAQs/ I don't want to do a redirect from myproduct.co.uk/FAQs/ to myproduct.com/FAQs/ as I don't want people to leave the localized website. The myproduct.com/FAQs/ is my "go-to" FAQ page and it's the most likely to be up to date - so I want this page to be indexed my search engines, where as I don't care about myproduct.co.uk/FAQs/ being indexed (unless indexing this page would increase my page rank :) ). What to do now to be SEO friendly & SEO optimal? Stop indexing of myproduct.co.uk/FAQs/ via robots.txt? Do some rel="alternate" hreflang="x" configuring on both /FAQs/ page? Something else?

  • Google Analytics Filters not removing traffic from other domain

    We have a frustrating problem where someone copied our site code including our Google Analytics code. So we are getting stats logged from their site which is very frustrating. I have setup 4 Filters, each trying to disallow any traffic from this other website, but still their traffic is being shown, including on the Real Time section.   • IIS SMTP unable to relay for domain on local network.

    Hi I have a network with the following servers: EXCH01 - Exchange Server for @domain.com e-mails. TEST-REP01 - Local reporting server. Have IIS SMTP installed and configured. What happens on the TEST-REP01, is that I have a Windows Service that reads reports in a SQL server that is ready for delivery. All reports is sent one at a time, using the local SMTP server. It works perfectly, unless the recipient e-mail address is [email protected] - the domain that the EXCH01 server manages. I get the following error: Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.7.1 Unable to relay for [email protected] What can I do to troubleshoot this further? I wanted people to still be able to access the original site, so my approach was to place the holding page in the root folder on the server, and move the original site to a subfolder and link to it from the holding page. However, on testing this setup it appears to have hurt the SEO placing of the website. Is there a better approach to this? I'm a bit stumped as I want both to share the same URL.

I've been tasked with checking the installation of some software on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine in the cloud, within two scenarios: There is no domain, the software will use local users and groups for authentication There is a domain, the software will use domain users and groups for authentication I've done part 1, but I'm puzzled about part 2. I've just installed the Active Directory Domain Services role on the server, so now I have a domain of one computer. When I look in Active Directory Users and Computers, I see all my original local users and groups. Have they now been 'promoted' to domain users? Or do I not have any domain users yet? Is there a way I can tell the difference between domain users and local users now? Thanks

    I'm familiar with hosting webapps when I'm doing "the whole shebang" of installing / configuring / setting up Apache/Tomcat/PostreSQL / "coding" the website myself using HTML / JSP / CSS etc. on dedicated servers I'm renting. But in the above case, I'm "owning" the entire stack: from the Debian GNU/Linux dedicated servers to every single file that is served. Now I'd like to do something much simpler and I must admit I don't know what's involved at all. I'd like to host a simple website made of only a few static pages (no database, no nothing) and I'd like it to be accessible from "example.com". What needs to be technically done to have such a thing? How is the DNS supposed to be set up? Note that I do not want to host this on one of my dedicated servers.

    Hi, im very new to this. I've set up an account "SQLBOX" thats on the a network, but not connected to the domain. I have installed an instance of SQL Server 2008 and am trying to connect to it from another machine on the network but am getting "Cannot connect to "SQLBOX"". From the "SQLBOX" i can connect to sqlservers on the domain, but not vice-versa. Any help would be grately appreciated. Sorry if the description isn't great. Thanks

Then i edited hosts file with the new ip in windows, it is ok now. but why this happens ? is it about isp cache or sth ? thanks

  • Can I rename a file that is open on Windows XP?

    I want to programatically rename a file and it could be open. It's a log file. When I was testing my code the rename part didn't work because the log file TestPro.log was open by the TAF (Test Automation Framework). When TestPro is running and I try to delete the file I get the error "Cannot delete because is being used by another person or program." Is there any way how to rename a file (programatically) that is open the way the log file was?
