  I'm trying to connect to a vSphere cluster using the information from the libvirt documentation. $ virsh -c "vpx://[email protected]/dc1/dc1-cluster-e01/dc1-vsphere-e04/?no_verify=1" Enter root's password for 10.51.4.11: error: internal error HTTP response code 400 for call to 'Login' error: failed to connect to the hypervisor I seem to be able to establish a connection, but it fails with a "HTTP code 400". If I provide the incorrect password it fails with a 'login credentials' error, so it looks like I am getting a connection, but it's failing for another reason. Wireshark is no help as it's all done over SSL/TLS. Any thoughts folks? UPDATE: 15:21 28/02/11 FYI - I'm running libvirt-0.8.3 (the Ubuntu package recompiled with the ESX flag enabled). • Remove all HTTP bindings from an IIS 6 site while leaving SSL bindings

  We have a (remote, via a reseller) customer who configured their IIS6 server to not have any port 80 HTTP bindings, only port 443 SSL bindings. We would like to reproduce this without going through the three layers (!) to get to the customer to test some error scenerios. However, whenever I try to get IIS to not listen on IIS at all, I can't do it. If I do it in the UI, either leaving in the main properties page, or in the advanced bindings page, the UI does not let me proceed. If I remove the HTTP ServerBindings from the metabase.xml directly, IIS makes it port 80, all unassigned addresses anyway. Is there a way to get to the "SSL only" state naturally? Please note I am NOT talking about the "require SSL" checkbox or underlying metabase setting, as that still listens on port 80 (or whatever) to give the "SSL required" error message. I'm talking about not having any bindings listed at all for HTTP.

• Intel Server Board S3420GP fails to boot with video connected

  All, Building a new system using an Intel Server Board S3420GP motherboard and an Intel Xeon X3440 processor. Before installing this motherboard into the chassis we want to test that it will actually boot correctly. We have mounted the processor and RAM with no hard drives attached. The boot sequence differs between the next variable: 1) Connecting video results in the system fans ramp up and down, twice, and then the system beeps with the same behavior repeating; the system status light shows "Amber" 2) With no video, the system goes through POST and the diag LEDs show that the system is missing a bootable device Need some assistance identifying why the board would fail to POST with video connected. // Update // Using another Power Supply the system gets passed the fans ramping up and down twice. Video still does not display.

  My website has an SSL cert (example url: https://subdomain.example.com). Under Apache it's set up for both port 80 and port 443. So under the following configuration, anyone who goes to http://subdomain.example.com is sent to https://subdomain.example.com . But for visits from Internet Explorer, the redirect doesn't happen. Instead, http visits get a "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page." with a list of client-side solutions to try. Any ideas on how to fix the config so IE visits have the same behavior as the other browsers (that is, send http to https automatically)? • Apache Reverse proxy Http to https

  I have a website which is fully running on Https. For some reason i did get the task to find a way to convert a url for example: http://www.domain.com/a/e-nc/youless to a https version of it, without losing HTTP POST header such as the POST values which are in it. So i thought (not even sure) let's try to make a reversed proxy in apache and see how that works. Anyway after a lot of struggling i came to the point to ask it here. So to be speicific my goal is: Convert the http://www.domain.com/a/e-nc/youless to https://www.domain.com/a/e-nc/youless without losing the POST conditions. • IE6 does not follow 302 redirect - displays 404 instead

  One of our clients has reported that they are experiencing 404 (file not found) errors when attempting to navigate a website that we support. The behaviour only appears to affect her - other users on the same machine can navigate the website fine, but the problem follows her from one PC to another. I've had a good look through the IIS server logs and have identified the requests in question. The normal request pattern is as follows: POST /page.aspx - 80 - ... 401 1 0 POST /page.aspx - 80 DOMAIN/user ... 302 0 0 GET /anotherPage.aspx Request=833f80a5-f34c-4b0e-addb-d73e1ee1663a 80 - ... 401 1 0 GET /anotherPage.aspx Request=833f80a5-f34c-4b0e-addb-d73e1ee1663a 80 DOMAIN/user ... 200 0 However, requests for the affected user do not include a request for the redirected page, nor an entry for the 404, i.e.: POST /page.aspx - 80 - ... 401 1 0 POST /page.aspx - 80 DOMAIN/user ... 302 0 0 ... other unrelated requests Can anyone suggest what might trigger this behaviour, and how I might investigate the cause or prevent it from occuring? I read here that the Allow META refresh option in IE6 might trigger this behaviour, but I have not been able to replicate the behaviour by modifying this setting only.

• Accessing local files through an http:// address

  I would like to access a folder of mp3 files on my local Windows machine through http:// addresses. For example, typing http://localhost:9999/songs/test.mp3 into my browser would play test.mp3, which sits in a specified folder on my C: drive. What is the very simplest way to do this? (Background: a program I'm using wants me to enter the URLs of these files, but assumes they are remote and accessed over http. It doesn't accept URLs of the form file://C/Users.... So, I'd like to give these local files addresses that makes them "look" remote.)

  I need to be able to PUT files and GET them later using nothing but HTTP, so I went searching for something that might match the terms "REST file server" or "HTTP file server" or "REST drop-box", etc. Unfortunately, these terms bring up the wrong kind of results on Google. What I want is the equivalent of an SMB fileshare over HTTP. Some ideal features: Can PUT a file of any type at http://servername/service/any/path/I/want/document.pdf Anyone with access can GET that file at the URL I PUT it at Supports AV scanning on any new file that has been PUT Supports DELETE of existing resources (files) Our shop runs Windows, but I'd be interested to know about Unix software that can do this kind of thing, too. It's to be used in an IT department for private users only. It won't be on a public-facing IP address. Does anything like this exist?

  Hi guys, I need to setup a really fast proxy server in a remote server, here's the scenario: The server prefetches 3KB of data, mostly HTTP resources. The server send to client 3KB of data, instead of traditional HTTP or SOCKS proxy, the server open multithreaded transfer with 3 connections, send 1KB of data per thread to each connection The client receives 1KBx3, and combine them to the original 3KB data, and return as a local HTTP proxy server. The client display the original data in browser via the local HTTP proxy The latency is not important as long as the transfer rate is good. Does any software like this exist? It's better if it's open source or free ones.

• What does this beep code mean?

  When I wanted to start my laptop today (an Acer Aspire 8920G), the laptop started beeping. I know this beeping is a POST error code, but I can not figure out which one it is. The motherboard of the laptop is manufactured by Phoenix, so I looked up these POST codes: http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/phoenixbeep.htm The beeping is in the form 1-1-1-1 (short beeps, repeating and even without ending), but this code is not mentioned by the manufacturer. Does anybody know what could be the problem? I don't know if it is relevant, but since a couple of months the CMOS battery was degrading. The laptop couldn't keep track of the time. Maybe a failing CMOS battery could be the problem?

  Hello, I have several Fedora 13 servers that have to connect through an http proxy for yum updates. All port 80 traffic has to be routed through this proxy. I have setup the proxy server in the network settings GUI. I can browse the internet just fine. I have also setup my proxy information in /etc/yum.conf as follows: proxy=http:proxy.largecorp.corp/accelerated_pac_base.pac proxy_user=user proxy_password=password I then added the export HTTP_PROXY="http:proxy.largecorp.corp/accelerated_pac_base.pac" to /etc/bashrc and sourced the file. When i run yum update: Loaded plugins:presto, refresh-packagekit Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) fro repository: fedora. Please verify its path and try again. All of the repo urls are the defaults, as this is a fresh install.

  I have a server which is running a web app that self serves HTTP. I'm wanting to use IIS6 (on the same server) to provide a HTTPS layer to this web app. From what I can tell doing a reverse proxy will allow me to do this. IIRF seems like the tool to do this job. There are no domain names involved.... its all ip numbers. So I think I want :- https:<ipnumber>:5001 to send all its requests to the same server but on a different port and use HTTP ( not exposed to the net ) http:<ipnumber>:5000 but not sure how to go about it with IIRF, I'm not entirely sure how to write the rules? I think I need to make a virtual web app on 5001 using HTTPS? then add a rules file.

  On my cpanel server, I restored about 50 accounts from crashed cpanel server. All of the sites were working fine, but suddenly without changing anything, every site started to get redirected to url "http://:2083/"., There is nothing in logs, no errors. when i do wget it says: wget grinfeld.com.br --2012-09-04 13:18:23-- http://grinfeld.com.br/ Resolving grinfeld.com.br... 198.101.221.254 Connecting to grinfeld.com.br|198.101.221.254|:80... connected. • Proxy the traffic in http and https from my iPhone/iPad to VirtualBox on my Mac

  I've got a mac running a Debian VirtualBox which forward the traffic from 8080 on the mac to 80 in the box and from 8443 to 443. The domains with the extension .dev are redirected on the mac to 127.0.0.1 with dnsmasq. The traffic on IP 127.0.0.1 is forwarded from 80 to 8080 and from 443 to 8443 using ipfw. So with this settings, my Debian VirtualBox gets all the traffic of my .dev domains in http or https. What I want is to be able to proxy the traffic of my .dev domains in http and https from my iPad to my Debian VirtualBox on the mac. I've try to setup an HTTP proxy on the ipad but I can only do it for one port (and it's not working with the port 443). Any idea on how I could achieve that ?

  I have recently setup a brand new install of SBS 2011 and it is working well. Exchange is running as advertised and all users are happy. Now, there are 2 users who would like to work outside of the office and require email setting up in Outlook. No problem - Exchange over HTTP. However for some reason it's not working. They can access Outlook Web Access okay, but for some reason Exchange over HTTP / HTTPS isn't working. The error message I receive in Outlook is: "The name cannot be resolved. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action." I've tried temporarily turning off the Firewall on both the server and the client but this doesn't help at all. Is there something I'm missing or is there a permission that needs enabling to allow Exchange over HTTP to work?? Many thanks

• ADFS http login failure not re-requesting credentials

  We have ADFS working with HTTP (401) login. If a user types their password incorrectly, ADFS barfs and requires that the browser be closed, rather than asking the user for to attempt to log in again. Reprompting for user credentials is the typical behavior with other web servers (even IIS). This appears to be an artifact of setting the HTTP session, but other HTTP-login applications dont behave this way. We are having additional issues now because some users are saving that password, and its causing them account lockouts because the browsers do not realize they need to update saved credentials. Anyone know of a workaround? Wed rather not enable forms login if possible.

• Has anyone seen an HTTP 500 error when HTTPS traffic going through Pound Proxy forwards to an HTTP page?

  We have Varnish as our load balancer and reverse proxy cache for normal HTTP traffic. For HTTPS traffic, we use Pound proxy to unwrap the SSL and forward to Varnish, which then forwards to the back-end servers. This is used for our "checkout" process to encrypt credit card info in transition. However, on the last stage of checkout, users are always getting an HTTP 500 (Internal Server) error. It doesn't seem to be due to our back-end app server, by all tests I've tried. Does anyone know anything about how that transition works-- the transition back from HTTPS to HTTP and the interaction between Pound and Varnish-- and why it might cause 500 errors?
