• actionscript swf: why the swf is cached in one web server

  Hi, I have one swf and a program to load this swf. The swf is put in a server. I encounter a weird problem that if I put this swf in serverA, each time my program will issue a http request to that webserver(with 304 response). But when I move the swf from serverA to serverB, some weird things happen, the progrom will only issue the first time http request, and after that, it didn't send any http request, it looks like it uses the cache in the disk. I wonder is how can I configure serverA make the behavior the same as serverB, as I guess the problem may exists in the http response that make the program not retrieving the swf from serverB any more. • On Android, click to expand list -and- click on a button?

  I have just started my career as an android programmer, and am currently relying heavily on the sample code and api examples. I have been working with this api example, to produce an expandable list of items (note this example does not use the ExpadableListView). In playing with the example, I tried to add another widget that would become visible and be gone at the same time as the text (mDialogue in the sample code). This works well with another TextView, but as soon as I tried to add a button widget, it stopped working. The list would expand on first click, showing my hidden TextView and Button, but it will not disappear on further clicks. The button is however, clickable, and I was able to set up an onClick listener to change the button text back and forth. I'm starting to wonder, is it just not possible to have a clickable item inside a clickable list item? Or is there some kind of work around? Would it solve my problem if I used ExpandableListView?

I often use this pattern: collectionofsomestuff //here it's LinqToEntities .Select(something=>new{something.Name,something.SomeGuid}) .ToArray() //From here on it's LinqToObjects .Select(s=>new SelectListItem() { Text = s.Name, Value = s.SomeGuid.ToString(), Selected = false }) Perhaps I'd split it over a couple of lines, but essentially, at the ToArray point, I'm effectively enumerating my query and storing the resulting sequence so that I can further process it with all the goodness of a full CLR to hand. As I have no interest in any kind of manipulation of the intermediate list, I use ToArray over ToList as there's less overhead. I do this all the time, but I wonder if there is a better pattern for this kind of problem?

  I watched this webcast recently, and I got the sense that a lot of the "cool stuff" from ASP.NET MVC is getting pulled back into the ASP.NET framework. At the moment I'm setting the ground-work for a project at my company using ASP.NET MVC, but after watching this, I'm beginning to wonder if that's the right choice, and whether it would behoove me to wait for ASP.NET 4.0. I realize ASP.NET MVC 2.0 is getting close to an actual release. If High-Testability, loose coupling, and having Full control of our HTML are top priorities, which should I choose, ASP.NET 4.0 or ASP.NET MVC?

• Trouble getting search results using MGTwitterEngine

In the console, I get: Request 7E4C3097-88D6-45F1-90D2-AD8205FBAAC5 failed with error: Error Domain=HTTP Code=400 "Operation could not be completed. (HTTP error 400.)" Is there a way around this? Am I implementing the delegate method right? (Also, I had difficulty installing the YAJL stuff for the engine, and wonder if that has something to do with it)

• How can I make a grid of clickable images from a list of data in WPF?

  Hello, I am a seasoned C and Java programmer, but an absolute WPF newbie. I am creating a kiosk application that will display a list of images of products that the user will click to see product details and maybe place an order. I am trying to structure my app with MVVM Foundation because I am used to the benefits of structure and tests. I wonder what is the most natural way to create a grid of clickable images that will fill the screen left to right, top to bottom (or the other way round, I have no exact requirements). Any image should be bound to an object that will become current and be displayed in the next screen. Thanks for your help.

  Hi, I've been pulling my hair out trying to get some matrix calculations working properly and started to wonder. If I have the following: glPushMatrix(); float m[16]; glGetFloatv(GL_MODELVIEW_MATRIX, m); glPopMatrix(); What should I expect the values of m to equal? Currently I'm getting these values and I'm confused as to where they're coming from: -1, 0, 0, 0, 0, -0.6139, 0.7893522, 0, 0, 0.789352238, 0.61394, 0, 0, 0.0955992, -1.344529, 1, I'm assuming there is something which affects this, but I'm not sure what. Could anyone help? I've tried changing pretty much anything but everytime I push the matrix stack I always get this matrix straight away! I don't think this makes a difference but I'm using OpenGLES.   I learnt that I should be using service classes to persist entities into the database instead of putting such logic in models/controllers. I currently made my service class something like class Application_DAO_User { protected $user; public function __construct(User $user) { $this->user = $user } public function edit($name, ...) { $this->user->name = $name; ... $this->em->flush(); } } I wonder if this should be the structure of a service class? where a service object represents a entity/model? • WebDAV auto-versioning in Git or Hg or any modern VCS

  I just recently learned of SVN's auto-versioning feature for WebDAV. Although I understand this is not replacement for proper versioning, with messages documenting change sets, it strikes me as a solid and safe replacement to Dropbox (minus nice GUIs and web pages). However, since commits in auto-versioning are frequent, I'd imagine that Git or Hg would be better suited for this, just because of their more compact databases (although I wonder if the distributed nature of things could make the automation ugly for resolving conflicts). Is this a feature that has been implemented using Git or Hg, as far as anyone knows?

• Extending a DropDownList control

  I have a rather large application that has literally a hundred DDLs with Yes / No ListItems. In an attempt to same myself some time, I created a Custom Control that extends the standard DDL. It all seems to work fine but I am having some issues when assigning the SelectedValue property in code where the selected value does not seem to have an affect on the control. I wonder if I should be adding my items during Init or PagePreLoad? Should I be calling base.OnInit before or after I add the list items? This mostly works but not 100%. • parsing string according to oracle operators with regex

  Hi, Basically I was trying to replace the part of string with its actual value which comes immediately after oracle operators. I can do this for limited operators list like {=,,<} but I wonder that is there any way out to gather all the operators rather than giving them by hands? For instance, I have this string; "a = xyz", then I will replace xyz with lets say 3. But as you know we have bunch of operator namely "like,in,exists etc". So my string can also be this: "a like xyz". So what do you suggest me? Thanks.

  I'm wonder about best approach of implementation auth. rules in Client-Server app using Business Objects. I've noticed common tactic is: - on DB side: implement one role for application, used for all app's users - definition users right and roles and assign users to proper group - Client side: add to Business Object's getters/setters rights checker allowing write / display data for particular user My concern is if this is really good approach from security perspective. It looks DB sends all information to Client, and then client's logic decide what to display or not. So, potentially advanced user can make query from their box and see/change anything. Isn't it?

  Hi, all. This is my first year as a programmer. The programming language that I'm most familiar with is Python. I am maintaining a web2py based legacy system, alone, which means I have to grow up as an all-rounder. The original programmers on this project are nowhere to find, and there are hardly any usable documents about requirements or anything. I find it very frustrating every time I hear the users criticize the system, and I can't help explaining that "that was not my fault, those mess was there even before I entered this company." • Suppressing NSLog statements for release?

  I wonder if someone could help me setup a number of NSLog statements so they print to console when executing in "Debug Mode" but don't print in "Release Mode". I understand I need to add something like DEBUG = 1 to the debug config in Xcode but I can't find where. Also how do I utilise this in my code? NSLog(@"Print Always"); if(DEBUG) NSLog(@"Print only in debug"); Is there a simple way of doing this? • Breaking changes in .NET 4.0

  There is a lot of information about new features and classes in new 4.0 however there are also changes that may affect esixting applications, for example Timespan now implements IFormattable and old string.Format() with invalid options will throw exception instead of calling simple ToString(). However, CLR team provides a nice feature to enable behaviour from previous version with configuration setting - TimeSpan_LegacyFormatMode . CLR Inside Out Access to events inside the class where they are declared using += or -= will lead to call add/remove generated accessors that return void. Some code wan't even compile in 4.0. Chris Burrows Blog CAS is deprecated and to enable it one still need to use special setting in configuration - NetFx40_LegacySecurityPolicy So I wonder what are other changes and is it possible to find at least preliminary list of changes that will or may break existing functionality with release of .NET 4.0 ?

• How to build gnu `libiconv` on & for windows?

  Hello, I want to build a static library (*.LIB file) GNU libiconv on windows to be used with other libraries in Visual C++. Other libraries I'm using are built with "MultiThreaded DLL" (/MD) Runtime option. So, I need to build libiconv with the same option. Problem is the libiconv uses GNU build system and I want to compile with /MD option. I need to build from the latest version of libiconv-1.13. I wonder how this guy has ported it? Can some one please tell me how to build *.lib from this and compile it using MSVC?

• Parsing Wiki XML Dumps ver0.4 just got tough

  Hello, I am trying to parse Wikipedia XML Dump using "Parse-MediaWikiDump-1.0.4" along with "Wikiprep.pl" script. I guess this script works fine with ver0.3 Wiki XML Dumps but not with the latest ver0.4 Dumps. I get the following error. Can't locate object method "page" via package "Parse::MediaWikiDump::Pages" at wikiprep.pl line 390. Also, under the "Parse-MediaWikiDump-1.0.4" documentation @ http://search.cpan.org/~triddle/Parse-MediaWikiDump-1.0.4/lib/Parse/MediaWikiDump/Pages.pm, I read "LIMITATIONS Version 0.4 This class was updated to support version 0.4 dump files from a MediaWiki instance but it does not currently support any of the new information available in those files." Any work arounds would help me get to the next level. Note: one may wonder why cannot we directly use SAX or STAX parser instead, wikipedia dump is a 25GB plus single file, stack/memory issues are obvious. Hence, the above perl script resolves this issue but currently I am stuck with this version problem.

• Implementing Security on custom BCS/.net class?

  I'm implementing a custom BCS Model to get data from a backend system. As the backend uses it's own user management, I'm accessing it through a service account. All of this works well and allows me to pull data into SharePoint. However because it's channeled through the service account, everyone can access it, which is bad. Can anyone give me some tips which method to implement? The backend does not give me NT ACLs, but I wonder if I could just "fake" them somehow? (Essentially saying "This NT Group has Read Access" is good enough). I am aware of ISecurityTrimmer2 for Search Results, but ideally I want to cover security inside the BCS Model so that it applies to external lists as well. I want to avoid using Secure storage and mapping each individual user to the backend.

• Understanding NSHTTPCookieStorage for the iPhone

  Maybe I'm missing something, but from Apple's documentation for NSHTTPCookieStorage, I can't help but wonder how this is safe to use. Does this mean that cookie storage is shared across all apps on the iPhone? If my app makes an Http call that results in some cookies being saved, do all apps now have access to these cookies? Methods like: cookiesForURL: Returns all the receiver's cookies that will be sent to a specified URL. make it look even more suspicious. Can someone explain how this is OK, and what the class does? Also, assuming my understanding is flawed and this is indeed sandboxed per-app, do calls made using NSURLRequest automatically save/retrieve cookies from this store or is it the developers responsibility to set request headers before dispatching the request?

• Inclusion Handling in MVC 2 / MVCContrib

  I'd like to improve my page by combining and minifying javascript and CSS files. Since MVCContrib already contains a project called IncludeHandling, I took a look at that which unfortunately left me with unanswered questions: There is quite a set of interfaces and objects involved in the process. Now I'm using Ninject.Mvc, but it seems that MvcContrib.IncludeHandling is using some additional (home-brewed?) DI? Can I work around this? Has anybody used this and can share some experiences? Secondly, advice that is often heard is to put static content on different domains so the request does not contain cookies and the like, making it much easier for the server to handle the request. But how can I combine this with automatic inclusion handling - isn't that necessarily served in the same application? EDIT: Figured that there is really just a single resolve call in the whole thing, i really wonder why they use DI for that... Thinking about a fork there...

  Hi this is the same question, that was asked two years ago: Java/JCE: Decrypting “long” message encrypted with RSA I had a large byte array and rsa keypair, initiated by value 1024. Using rsa encryption and the specified size of the key is strong requirement, I can't change it. So I can't use symmetric encryption with asymetric encryption symmetric key. I can't use any other keys. I had a byte array and need ciphered byte array to be returned. I wonder if there is any ready tool, that can manage with this problem? Sorry for such an amateurish question, but I really need a help.

• How to manage test fixtures for end-to-end testing?

  Having just set up a test framework for a new web application, I realized I missed one of the big questions: "How do I make tests independent from each other?" Years ago I have set up some complicated Ant scripting to do full cycles of deleting all database tables, creating the schema again, adding test data, starting the application, running one test and then stopping the application. That was a pain to maintain and restricted us to nightly tests due to the time it took to run the full suite. It was still worth it, but I wonder if there is an easier way. Are there alternatives to this approach? The main criterion is that each test should not be affected by any other test in the suite, no matter if it failed or succeeded.
