  I have a server on a network segment with no direct or indirect access to the Internet. I want to perform an: apt-get install <package_name> Is there a way to somehow delegate the process of downloading the required files to another machine by exporting the server configuration so as to satisfy all dependencies while running: apt-get install --download-only <package_name> Can, in effect, apt-get install read a configuration from an exported archive rather than from the local package database? Can the list of packages to be downloaded be retrieved, along with an installation script to perform the installation, instead of the actual packages? (a further level of indirection which would help me schedule this with wget at appropriate times...)

  I'm working with: seam 2.2.2 + hibernate + richfaces + jboss 5.1 + postgres I have an module which needs to load some data from the database. Easy. The problem is, on development it works fine, 100%, but when I deploy on my production server and try to get the data, an error rise: could not read column value from result set: fechahor9_504_; Bad value for type timestamp : [C@122e5cf SQL Error: 0, SQLState: 22007 Bad value for type timestamp : [C@122e5cf javax.persistence.PersistenceException: org.hibernate.exception.DataException: could not execute query [more errors] Caused by: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: Bad value for type timestamp : [C@122e5cf at org.postgresql.jdbc2.TimestampUtils.loadCalendar(TimestampUtils.java:232) [more errors] Caused by: java.lang.NumberFormatException: Trailing junk on timestamp: '' at org.postgresql.jdbc2.TimestampUtils.loadCalendar(TimestampUtils.java:226) I can't understand why it works on my machine (development) and why not on production. I have written a stored procedure & application code that takes first name & last name as input parameter and return last login id as ouput parameter. • Problem releasing UIImageView after adding to UIScrollView

  I'm having a memory problem related to UIImageView. After adding this view to my UIScrollView, if I try to release the UIImageView the application crashes. According to the stack trace, something is calling [UIImageView stopAnimating] after [UIImageView dealloc] is called. However, if I don't release the view the memory is never freed up, and I've confirmed that there remains an extra retain call on the view after deallocating...which causes my total allocations to climb quickly and eventually crash the app after loading the view multiple times. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here though...I don't know what is trying to access the UIImageView after it has been released.   Hi, When looking for which version of Delphi 2010 to buy, we found the following limitation on the professional one: Delphi 2010 Professional is designed for developers building high-performance desktop GUI and touch-screen applications with (or without) embedded and local database persistence. What does this really mean? Does this mean that we'll only face this restriction if we choose to use the native vcl components for database access we'll face this restriction. And what if we choose to use ADO components instead of those? In this case, how can Delphi avoid us to access remote database servers? Did anyone here ever tried this? Going even further: if we choose to use a database like Firebird, which is just one file, and used a network mapped drive. Could we be facing the same limitation? Supposing we opt for ADO, what will be the main consequences?

• Encoded nsstring becomes invalid, "normal" nsstring remains

  I'm running into a problem with a string that contains encoded characters. Once the method for the action sheet starts, my string is invalid - but only if it contains encoded characters. If it is just a "normal" string, everything is fine and acts as expected. Am I off on my encoding? At first I thought it might be a memory problem but I can't figure out why that would affect only encoded strings. I also see the call to the InternalConverter.Convert method, which sees the expected parameters (I see the collection provided by the nested {Binding}) and is successfully able to retrieve the ICollectionView for the incoming collection. The only problem is that FilterInternal never gets called. The template is ultimately being used by a TreeView, if that's relevant. I haven't been able to figure out why the FilterInternal method is not being called and I was hoping somebody might be able to offer some insight.

• Enable button based on TextBox value (WPF)

  This is MVVM application. There is a window and related view model class. There is TextBox, Button and ListBox on form. Button is bound to DelegateCommand that has CanExecute function. Idea is that user enters some data in text box, presses button and data is appended to list box. I would like to enable command (and button) when user enters correct data in TextBox. Things work like this now: CanExecute() method contains code that checks if data in property bound to text box is correct. Text box is bound to property in view model UpdateSourceTrigger is set to PropertyChanged and property in view model is updated after each key user presses. Problem is that CanExecute() does not fire when user enters data in text box. It doesn't fire even when text box lose focus. How could I make this work? Edit: Re Yanko's comment: Delegate command is implemented in MVVM toolkit template and when you create new MVVM project, there is Delegate command in solution. As much as I saw in Prism videos this should be the same class (or at least very similar). I found command manager helper class in DelegateCommand.cs and I'll look into it, maybe there is some mechanism that could help. Anyway, idea that in order to activate command based on user input, one needs to "nudge" command object in property setter code looks clumsy. It will introduce dependencies and one of big points of MVVM is reducing them. Is it possible to solve this problem by using dependency properties?

I can of course try the option of not storing the credentials for the Session and supply them for each call but this does not seem like a good idea. Any ideas would be appreciated!

• Why does my UIWebView not Allow User Interaction?

I've created a very simple example of my problem. I'm sure I'm missing something but I can't for the life of me figure out what. I'm creating a UIWebView and adding it to a custom view controller that inherits from UIViewController. When the app loads in the iPad simulator, the uiwebview loads the desired page, but the UIWebView is entirely unresponsive. The persistence layer is based on spring + hibernate dao, the connection is configured via a JNDI datasoure (META-INF directory). • Tips for resolving Hibernate/JPA EntityNotFoundException

  I'm running into a problem with Hibernate where when trying to delete a group of Entities I encounter the following error: javax.persistence.EntityNotFoundException: deleted entity passed to persist: [com.locuslive.odyssey.entity.FreightInvoiceLine#<null>] These are not normally so difficult to track down as they are usually caused by an entity being deleted but not being removed from a Collection that it is a member of. In this case I have removed the entity from every list that I can think of (it's a complex datamodel). I've put JBoss logging into Trace and I can see the collections that are being cascaded. However I can't seem to find the Collection containing the entity that I'm deleting. Does anyone have any tips for resolving this particular Exception? Thanks.

  I am trying to persist an Entity with a @Lob annotated String field. The content of that fiels if bigger than the 40k buffer size limit. The first problem I had was related to the setString method used internally by the JPA implementation (Hibernate in my case) and the Oracle JDBC Driver. This problem was solved adding <property name="hibernate.connection.SetBigStringTryClob" value="true"/> to my persistence.xml file. Then, the error changed to a ORA-22835 error (the buffer is too small). ¿Is there any way that JPA solves this problem without going to a low-level implementation? ¿Any suggestions?

However, it appears they are on the expensive side for small startups with minimal units needed. Does anyone know of any similar object databases for the compact framework? How about a open source one that is free for commercial use? :) Thank you. EDIT: We're really looking for an object database. We don't want to create our own persistence framework at this point and would prefer being able to just save/retrieve the actual object trees.
