  • Control XML serialization of generic types

    - by Luca
    I'm investigating about XML serialization, and since I use lot of dictionary, I would like to serialize them as well. I found the following solution for that (I'm quite proud of it! :) ). [XmlInclude(typeof(Foo))] public class XmlDictionary<TKey, TValue> { /// <summary> /// Key/value pair. /// </summary> public struct DictionaryItem { /// <summary> /// Dictionary item key. /// </summary> public TKey Key; /// <summary> /// Dictionary item value. /// </summary> public TValue Value; } /// <summary> /// Dictionary items. /// </summary> public DictionaryItem[] Items { get { List<DictionaryItem> items = new List<DictionaryItem>(ItemsDictionary.Count); foreach (KeyValuePair<TKey, TValue> pair in ItemsDictionary) { DictionaryItem item; item.Key = pair.Key; item.Value = pair.Value; items.Add(item); } return (items.ToArray()); } set { ItemsDictionary = new Dictionary<TKey,TValue>(); foreach (DictionaryItem item in value) ItemsDictionary.Add(item.Key, item.Value); } } /// <summary> /// Indexer base on dictionary key. /// </summary> /// <param name="key"></param> /// <returns></returns> public TValue this[TKey key] { get { return (ItemsDictionary[key]); } set { Debug.Assert(value != null); ItemsDictionary[key] = value; } } /// <summary> /// Delegate for get key from a dictionary value. /// </summary> /// <param name="value"></param> /// <returns></returns> public delegate TKey GetItemKeyDelegate(TValue value); /// <summary> /// Add a range of values automatically determining the associated keys. /// </summary> /// <param name="values"></param> /// <param name="keygen"></param> public void AddRange(IEnumerable<TValue> values, GetItemKeyDelegate keygen) { foreach (TValue v in values) ItemsDictionary.Add(keygen(v), v); } /// <summary> /// Items dictionary. /// </summary> [XmlIgnore] public Dictionary<TKey, TValue> ItemsDictionary = new Dictionary<TKey,TValue>(); } The classes deriving from this class are serialized in the following way: <XmlProcessList xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <Items> <DictionaryItemOfInt32Foo> <Key/> <Value/> </DictionaryItemOfInt32XmlProcess> <Items> This give me a good solution, but: How can I control the name of the element DictionaryItemOfInt32Foo What happens if I define a Dictionary<FooInt32, Int32> and I have the classes Foo and FooInt32? Is it possible to optimize the class above? THank you very much!

  • remove component from initComponent()

    - by jouzef19
    hi i am using netBeans editor to create desktop application , i did something wrong that generate three line of code in the initComponent() method related to connection with database. Then i removed the lines by opening the .java file in txt editor , but one of them keep coming back when i do anything with netBeans editor , So i want to delete this line from the netbeans itself . this is the line historyList = java.beans.Beans.isDesignTime() ? java.util.Collections.emptyList() : ((javax.persistence.Query)null).getResultList(); and this is its declaration private java.util.List<idetect.History> historyList;

  • how to configure hibernate not to update @Version on each access to entity

    - by radai
    i have a simple query that returns an entity, and when i look at hibernate SQL output i see that when i execute this query hibernate updates the @Version field (on each consecutive read the @version field is updated). i dont modify anything in the entity i fetch, and i dont pass is as an argument to either persist or merge. this effectively means every read i make turns into a read+write. i've tried setting the lock mode t oboth NONE (jpa 2) and READ (jpa 1) to no avail. is there any way to achieve this? if so, is there any way to set this as the default behavior in persistence.xml in some way ? im using jpa2 over hibernate 3.6

  • message queue : selection and sizing

    - by user238591
    Hi, I have 20 messages/s, each 1 - 1.5 Mbytes. I need High Availability (2 to 4 servers min). I need low latencey (high daily volume - full RAM prefered). I need persistent poisoned messages queue. Only few clients (about 16), locally. I can have 12-16G bytes RAM per server (brooker). Which JMS message queue / messaging would you recommend ? On what configuration (CPU/RAM) ? Can I propose optionnal NAS persistence (in case of final delivery failure) ? Thanks

  • How are managed the sequences by JPA and Hibernate?

    - by romaintaz
    Hi all, I am using Hibernate in my project, and many of my entities use a sequence for their technical keys. For example: @Entity @Table(name = "T_MYENTITY") @SequenceGenerator(name = "S_MYENTITY", sequenceName = "S_MYENTITY") public class MyEntity { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.SEQUENCE, generator = "S_MYENTITY") @Column(name = "MY_ENTITY_ID") private Long entityId; ... } I have two questions about the ID generated by Hibernate when a new object of this class is persisted: Why SequenceGenerator (from javax.persistence) has a default value of allocationSize set to 50 instead of 1? What are the interests of that? What is the default algorithm used by Hibernate to calculate the generated ID? It seems that Hibernate uses the value returned by the sequence hosted by my Oracle database, but then modify it before assigning it to my entity...

  • Calling popToRootViewControllerAnimated causing crash. How should I be doing this?

    - by Lewis42
    The app is for taking body measurements. The user can say I want to measure: legs, arms and neck, in the settings tab and in the main tab there is a view which loops round to take each measurement. This is achieved like so: i have tab controller the first tab has a navigation controller the first view controller on the storyboard and has one segue to itself the board loops round until it has all the measurements then it segues to a different controller the problem is: if the user changes which measurements they are taking in the settings tab, the first tab needs to completely reload, as if the app was just starting up, clearing down the whole nav stack etc. at the moment the tab controller calls popToRootViewControllerAnimated on the navigation controller in the measurements tab, but this is causing a crash. Each screen has a slider control and a call to titleForRow:forComponent: is being called on a deleted view causing it to crash. What am I doing wrong?! Here's the tab bar controller code // TabBarController.m // #import "TabBarController.h" #import "TodaysMeasurementObject.h" #import "AppDelegateProtocol.h" #import "AddMeasurementViewController.h" #import "ReadPerson.h" #import "AppDelegate.h" @interface TabBarController () <UITabBarControllerDelegate> @end @implementation TabBarController bool resetWizardView = false; - (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil { self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil]; if (self) { } return self; } - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; // Do any additional setup after loading the view. self.delegate = self; [[UIDevice currentDevice] beginGeneratingDeviceOrientationNotifications]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(orientationChanged:) name:UIDeviceOrientationDidChangeNotification object:nil]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(measurementsSettingsUpdated:) name:@"MeasurementsSettingsUpdated" object:nil]; } - (void) measurementsSettingsUpdated:(NSNotification *) notification { // UINavigationController *navigationController = [self.viewControllers objectAtIndex:0]; // AddMeasurementViewController *addMeasurement = [[AddMeasurementViewController alloc] init]; // [navigationController setViewControllers: [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:addMeasurement, nil]]; resetWizardView = YES; } - (void) viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { if (![ReadPerson userHasRecords]) { [self setSelectedIndex:3]; } } - (void)orientationChanged:(NSNotification *)notification { // We must add a delay here, otherwise we'll swap in the new view // too quickly and we'll get an animation glitch [self performSelector:@selector(showGraphs) withObject:nil afterDelay:0]; } - (void)showGraphs { UIDeviceOrientation deviceOrientation = [UIDevice currentDevice].orientation; if (deviceOrientation == UIDeviceOrientationLandscapeLeft && !isShowingLandscapeView) { [self performSegueWithIdentifier: @"toGraph" sender: self]; isShowingLandscapeView = YES; } else if (deviceOrientation != UIDeviceOrientationLandscapeLeft && isShowingLandscapeView) { [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; isShowingLandscapeView = NO; } } - (void)viewDidUnload { [super viewDidUnload]; // Release any retained subviews of the main view. } - (void)dealloc { [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] removeObserver:self]; [[UIDevice currentDevice] endGeneratingDeviceOrientationNotifications]; } - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { if(interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight) { [self performSegueWithIdentifier: @"toGraph" sender: self]; } return false; } - (void)tabBarController:(UITabBarController *)tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController { int tbi = tabBarController.selectedIndex; if (tbi == 0) { [[viewController view] setNeedsDisplay]; if (resetWizardView) { [(UINavigationController*)[self.viewControllers objectAtIndex:0] popToRootViewControllerAnimated: NO]; // ******* POP CALLED HERE ****** resetWizardView = false; } } } - (TodaysMeasurementObject*) theAppDataObject { id<AppDelegateProtocol> theDelegate = (id<AppDelegateProtocol>) [UIApplication sharedApplication].delegate; TodaysMeasurementObject* theDataObject; theDataObject = (TodaysMeasurementObject*) theDelegate.theAppDataObject; return theDataObject; } - (BOOL)shouldAutorotate { return NO; } - (NSUInteger)supportedInterfaceOrientations { return UIInterfaceOrientationMaskPortrait; } @end UPDATED - (void) measurementsSettingsUpdated:(NSNotification *) notification { NSMutableArray *viewControllers = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithArray: self.viewControllers]; UINavigationController *navigationController = [viewControllers objectAtIndex:0]; AddMeasurementViewController *addMeasurement = [[AddMeasurementViewController alloc] init]; [navigationController setViewControllers: [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:addMeasurement, nil]]; [viewControllers setObject:navigationController atIndexedSubscript:0]; self.viewControllers = viewControllers; } and removed the code from - tabBarController:didSelectViewController: but still the same error. I think the problem is that it's trying to get a value for the slide control after the view has been deleted. But some part of the view must still be alive...? Anyway to kill that off? Or leave it all alive??

  • Play 2.0 javaToDo tutorial doesn't compile

    - by chsn
    I'm trying to follow the Play2.0 JavaToDO tutorial and for some reason it just doesn't want to work. Have looked through stackoverflow and other online resources, but haven't find an answer to this and it's driving me crazy. Attached code of the Application.java package controllers; import models.Task; import play.data.Form; import play.mvc.Controller; import play.mvc.Result; public class Application extends Controller { static Form<Task> taskForm = form(Task.class); public static Result index() { return redirect(routes.Application.tasks()); } public static Result tasks() { return ok( views.html.index.render(Task.all(), taskForm)); } public static Result newTask() { return TODO; } public static Result deleteTask(Long id) { return TODO; } } Attached code of the Task java package models; import java.util.List; import javax.persistence.Entity; import play.data.Form; import play.data.validation.Constraints.Required; import play.db.ebean.Model.Finder; import play.mvc.Result; import controllers.routes; @Entity public class Task { public Long id; @Required public String label; // search public static Finder<Long,Task> find = new Finder( Long.class, Task.class); // display tasks public static List<Task> all() { return find.all(); } // create task public static void create(Task task) { task.create(task); } // delete task public static void delete(Long id) { find.ref(id).delete(id); // find.ref(id).delete(); } // create new task public static Result newTask() { Form<Task> filledForm = taskForm.bindFromRequest(); if(filledForm.hasErrors()) { return badRequest( views.html.index.render(Task.all(), filledForm) ); } else { Task.create(filledForm.get()); return redirect(routes.Application.tasks()); } } } I get a compile error on Task.java on the line static Form<Task> taskForm = form(Task.class); As I'm working on eclipse (the project is eclipsified before import), it's telling me that taskForm cannot be resolved and it also underlines every play 2 command e.g. "render(), redirect(), bindFromRequest()" asking me to create a method for it. Any ideas how to solve the compilations error and also how to get Eclipse to recognize the play2 commands? EDIT: updated Application.java package controllers; import models.Task; import play.data.Form; import play.mvc.Controller; import play.mvc.Result; public class Application extends Controller { // create new task public static Result newTask() { Form<Task> filledForm = form(Task.class).bindFromRequest(); if(filledForm.hasErrors()) { return badRequest( views.html.index.render(Task.all(), filledForm) ); } else { Task.newTask(filledForm.get()); return redirect(routes.Application.tasks()); } } public static Result index() { return redirect(routes.Application.tasks()); } public static Result tasks() { return ok( views.html.index.render(Task.all(), taskForm)); } public static Result deleteTask(Long id) { return TODO; } } Updated task.java package models; import java.util.List; import javax.persistence.Entity; import play.data.Form; import play.data.validation.Constraints.Required; import play.db.ebean.Model; import play.db.ebean.Model.Finder; import play.mvc.Result; import controllers.routes; @Entity public class Task extends Model { public Long id; @Required public String label; // Define a taskForm static Form<Task> taskForm = form(Task.class); // search public static Finder<Long,Task> find = new Finder( Long.class, Task.class); // display tasks public static List<Task> all() { return find.all(); } // create new task public static Result newTask(Task newTask) { save(task); } // delete task public static void delete(Long id) { find.ref(id).delete(id); // find.ref(id).delete(); } }

  • Core Data strategy using in memory cache, or no core data at all?

    - by randombits
    I have a user interface where the user can check off a bunch of items from a tableview, almost like a todo list. The items are populated from a Core Data stack. I need to be able to take all of the items they're clicking through and put them into a "temporary" shopping cart. Once they're in the shopping cart, users can go through the list and remove the items, or just submit them to a server. The thing is, the selected items are temporary just like an internet based shopping cart. It's nothing something that gets persisted once the application closes. Once the view is no longer in display, I can assume that the shopping cart is safe to discard. What's the best way to approach this? Since the user is essentially clicking on instances that map back to a Core Data entity .. should I setup a different persistence store such as in memory and add that store to my managed object context?

  • Better understanding of my SQL transactions

    - by Slew Poke
    I just realized that my application was needlessly making 50+ database calls per user request due to some hidden coding -- hidden in the sense that between LINQ, persistence frameworks and events it just so turned out that a huge number of calls were being made without me being aware. Is there a recommended way to analyze individual transactions going to my SQL 2008 database, preferably with some integration to my Visual Studio 2010 environment? I want to be able to 'spy' on individual transactions being made, but only for certain pieces of my code, and without making serious changes to either the code or database.

  • What in-client caching options work well with Cassandra and Java?

    - by sanity
    I'm currently architecting a system that must be capable of dealing with tens of thousands of writes per second. I am more-or-less settled on using Apache Cassandra for the persistence layer, and will be using Java for the application layer, but there are situations where I need to quickly access data in a way that picks up any changes within seconds. Hitting Cassandra every single time I need to check this data for changes will be too slow, which means I need to use some kind of application layer caching. To ensure that the cached data remains current, ideally it would support some kind of multicast-based cache invalidation. What are my options?

  • Large number of tables and Hibernate memory consumption

    - by Vedran
    I'm working on a large ERP project which has database model with about 2100 tables. With "only" 500 tables mapped with Hibernate, application deployed on the web server takes about 3GB of working memory. Is there any way to reduce Hibernate's metamodel memory footprint when using that many tables in one persistence unit? Or should I just give up on ORMs and go with plain old JDBC (or even jOOQ)? Right now I'm using Hibernate 4.1.8, Spring 3.1.3, JBoss AS 7.1 and working with MSSQL database. Edit: JavaMelody memory histogram output - with 2000 generated test tables that are a bit smaller in scope from the original db model (hence 'only' 1.3GB of spent memory)

  • UIPageViewController blanking page

    - by CrazyEoin
    I've been trying to use the UIPageViewController to display 3 different nibs for a few days on and off now and have almost got it working. I still have one weird bug that I cant figure out. Basically the app starts, I can scroll between the 3 pages one after another with out any problems, eg: Page1-Page2-Page3 and then back to the start: Page3-Page2-Page1. No Problems. The issue is that if I scroll, for example from Page3-Page2, then BACK to Page3, Page3 Dissappears when it snaps into place. If I scroll to where a forth page would be, then I get Page3. Here is the code relevant to the UIPageViewController, the nibs and the delegate methods for the UIPageViewController: - (void)viewDidLoad{ [super viewDidLoad]; // Do any additional setup after loading the view, typically from a nib. self.pageViewController = [[UIPageViewController alloc] initWithTransitionStyle:UIPageViewControllerTransitionStyleScroll navigationOrientation:UIPageViewControllerNavigationOrientationHorizontal options:nil]; self.pageViewController.delegate = self; [[self.pageViewController view] setFrame:[[self view] bounds]]; indexTest = 0; Page1 *p1 = [[Page1 alloc]initWithNibName:@"Page1" bundle:nil]; p1.view.tag = 1; Page2 *p2 = [[Page2 alloc]initWithNibName:@"Page2" bundle:nil]; p2.view.tag = 2; Page3 *p3 = [[Page3 alloc]initWithNibName:@"Page3" bundle:nil]; p3.view.tag = 3; NSArray *arr = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:p1,nil]; viewControllers = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithObjects:p1,p2,p3, nil]; [self.pageViewController setViewControllers:arr direction:UIPageViewControllerNavigationDirectionForward animated:NO completion:nil]; self.pageViewController.dataSource = self; [self addChildViewController:self.pageViewController]; [[self view] addSubview:[self.pageViewController view]]; [self.pageViewController didMoveToParentViewController:self]; self.view.gestureRecognizers = self.pageViewController.gestureRecognizers; } #pragma mark - page view controller stuff - (UIViewController *)pageViewController:(UIPageViewController *)pageViewController viewControllerBeforeViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController { if (indexTest > 0) { switch (indexTest) { case 1:{ NSLog(@"NO page is BEFORE current page"); break; } case 2:{ NSLog(@"Page BEFORE is Page: %@", [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",[viewControllers objectAtIndex:0] ] ); indexTest--; return [viewControllers objectAtIndex:0]; break; } default:{ NSLog(@"PROBLEM in viewBEFORE, indexTest = %d!!!!", indexTest); break; } } } return nil; } - (UIViewController *)pageViewController:(UIPageViewController *)pageViewController viewControllerAfterViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController { if (indexTest < NUM_OF_PAGES) { switch (indexTest) { case 0:{ NSLog(@"Page AFTER is Page: %@", [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",[viewControllers objectAtIndex:1] ] ); indexTest++; return [viewControllers objectAtIndex:1]; break; } case 1:{ NSLog(@"Page AFTER is Page: %@", [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",[viewControllers objectAtIndex:2] ] ); indexTest++; return [viewControllers objectAtIndex:2]; break; } case 2:{ NSLog(@"No pages AFTER this current page %d", indexTest); break; } default:{ NSLog(@"PROBLEM in viewAFTER, indexTest = %d!!!!", indexTest); break; } } } return nil; } Finally the page index dots code #pragma mark - dot controller - (NSInteger)presentationCountForPageViewController:(UIPageViewController *)pageViewController { // The number of items reflected in the page indicator. return NUM_OF_PAGES; } - (NSInteger)presentationIndexForPageViewController:(UIPageViewController *)pageViewController { // The selected item reflected in the page indicator. return 0; } Any and all help is much appreciated, I think I'm just doing something silly that I cant see as I'm so close to it fully working. If anythings not clear or I haven't give enough information please let me know and I'll answer it as best as I can. Thanks

  • Serious problem with WCF, GridViews, Callbacks and ExecuteReaders exceptions.

    - by barjed
    Hi, I have this problem that is driving me insane. I have a project to deliver before Thursday. Basically an app consiting of three components that communicate with each other in WCF. I have one console app and one Windows Forms app. The console app is a server that's connected to the database. You can add records to it via the Windows Forms client that connectes with the server through the WCF. The code for the client: namespace BankAdministratorClient { [CallbackBehavior(ConcurrencyMode = ConcurrencyMode.Single, UseSynchronizationContext = false)] public partial class Form1 : Form, BankServverReference.BankServerCallback { private BankServverReference.BankServerClient server = null; private SynchronizationContext interfaceContext = null; public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); interfaceContext = SynchronizationContext.Current; server = new BankServverReference.BankServerClient(new InstanceContext(this), "TcpBinding"); server.Open(); server.Subscribe(); refreshGridView(""); } public void refreshClients(string s) { SendOrPostCallback callback = delegate(object state) { refreshGridView(s); }; interfaceContext.Post(callback, s); } public void refreshGridView(string s) { try { userGrid.DataSource = server.refreshDatabaseConnection().Tables[0]; } catch (Exception ex) { MessageBox.Show(ex.ToString()); } } private void buttonAdd_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { server.addNewAccount(Int32.Parse(inputPIN.Text), Int32.Parse(inputBalance.Text)); } private void Form1_FormClosing(object sender, FormClosingEventArgs e) { try { server.Unsubscribe(); server.Close(); }catch{} } } } The code for the server: namespace SSRfinal_tcp { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Console.WriteLine(MessageHandler.dataStamp("The server is starting up")); using (ServiceHost server = new ServiceHost(typeof(BankServer))) { server.Open(); Console.WriteLine(MessageHandler.dataStamp("The server is running")); Console.ReadKey(); } } } [ServiceBehavior(ConcurrencyMode = ConcurrencyMode.Single, InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.PerCall, IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults = true)] public class BankServer : IBankServerService { private static DatabaseLINQConnectionDataContext database = new DatabaseLINQConnectionDataContext(); private static List<IBankServerServiceCallback> subscribers = new List<IBankServerServiceCallback>(); public void Subscribe() { try { IBankServerServiceCallback callback = OperationContext.Current.GetCallbackChannel<IBankServerServiceCallback>(); if (!subscribers.Contains(callback)) subscribers.Add(callback); Console.WriteLine(MessageHandler.dataStamp("A new Bank Administrator has connected")); } catch { Console.WriteLine(MessageHandler.dataStamp("A Bank Administrator has failed to connect")); } } public void Unsubscribe() { try { IBankServerServiceCallback callback = OperationContext.Current.GetCallbackChannel<IBankServerServiceCallback>(); if (subscribers.Contains(callback)) subscribers.Remove(callback); Console.WriteLine(MessageHandler.dataStamp("A Bank Administrator has been signed out from the connection list")); } catch { Console.WriteLine(MessageHandler.dataStamp("A Bank Administrator has failed to sign out from the connection list")); } } public DataSet refreshDatabaseConnection() { var q = from a in database.GetTable<Account>() select a; DataTable dt = q.toTable(rec => new object[] { q }); DataSet data = new DataSet(); data.Tables.Add(dt); Console.WriteLine(MessageHandler.dataStamp("A Bank Administrator has requested a database data listing refresh")); return data; } public void addNewAccount(int pin, int balance) { Account acc = new Account() { PIN = pin, Balance = balance, IsApproved = false }; database.Accounts.InsertOnSubmit(acc); database.SubmitChanges(); database.addNewAccount(pin, balance, false); subscribers.ForEach(delegate(IBankServerServiceCallback callback) { callback.refreshClients("New operation is pending approval."); }); } } } This is really simple and it works for a single window. However, when you open multiple instances of the client window and try to add a new record, the windows that is performing the insert operation crashes with the ExecuteReader error and the " requires an open and available connection. the connection's current state is connecting" bla bla stuff. I have no idea what's going on. Please advise.

  • Can you use the same Enum in multiple entities in Linq-to-SQL?

    - by Mark
    In my persistence layer, I've declared a load of Enums to represent tables containing reference data (i.e. data never changes). In Linq2SQL, I am able to set the type of an entity property to an enum type and all is well, but as soon as I set a second entity's property to use the same enum type, the Code Generator (MSLinqToSQLGenerator) start generating an empty code file. I assume that MSLinqToSQLGenerator is quietly crashing. The question is why, and are there any work-arounds? Anyone else experienced this problem?

  • Looking for a tutorial and/or example for the following: Annotation based Spring 3 with JPA and/or h

    - by Conor
    I want to learn Spring. I'd like to start with Spring 3. I want a simple tutorial and/or example. So no full blown web example please. Also - not a trivial example - so something incorporating persistence (e.g. JPA or hibernate) would be nice. Also - I don't want to get bogged down writing XML. So - Annotation based Spring 3 with JPA and/or hibernate. Yes - there is a good reference for Spring 3.0, but it's XML based. I can't find anything else useful. Thanks in advance.

  • Duplicate records

    - by czuroski
    Hello, I am using nHibernate for db persistence. I have a one-to-many relationship defined between 2 tables. When I query and try to get data, I am getting the correct number of rows from the "many" table, but the rows are duplicates of the first row returned. table1 (one), table2 (many). I create a criteria query to get a certain record from table1. I then expect to get all associated records from table2. ie, table1 holds orders, table2 holds items. I query table1 to get an order which has 4 items. I expect to see each of those 4 items from table2, but all I am seeing is the 1st item repeated 4 times. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening?

  • iphone keyboard won't appear

    - by d_CFO
    I can click on the field, and it momentarily turns blue, but those events plus makeFirstResponder together do not cause the keyboard to show on a UITextField. Plain vanilla code follows; I include it so others can discern what is NOT there and therefore what, presumably, with solve the problem. I put in leading spaces to format this question more like code, but the parser seems to have stripped them, thus leaving left-justified code. Sorry! UITextFieldDelete, check: @interface RevenueViewController : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate, UITableViewDataSource, UITextFieldDelegate> { UILabel *sgmntdControlLabel; UISegmentedControl *sgmntdControl; UITableView *theTableView; } @property(nonatomic,retain) UISegmentedControl *sgmntdControl; @property(nonatomic,retain) UILabel *sgmntdControlLabel; Delegate and source, check. -(void)loadView; // code CGRect frameTable = CGRectMake(10,0,300,260); theTableView = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:frameTable style:UITableViewStyleGrouped]; [theTableView setDelegate:self]; [theTableView setDataSource:self]; // code [self.view addSubview:theTableView]; [super viewDidLoad]; } Insert UITextField to cell, check. - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSInteger sectionNmbr = [indexPath section]; NSInteger rowNmbr = [indexPath row]; NSLog(@"cellForRowAtIndexPath=%d, %d",sectionNmbr,rowNmbr); static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } // Configure the cell. switch (sectionNmbr) { case 0: if (rowNmbr == 0) { cell.tag = 1; cell.textLabel.text = @"Label for sctn 0, row 0"; UITextField *tf = [[UITextField alloc] init]; tf.keyboardType = UIKeyboardTypeNumberPad; tf.returnKeyType = UIReturnKeyDone; tf.delegate = self; [cell.contentView addSubview:tf]; } if (rowNmbr == 1) { cell.tag = 2; cell.textLabel.text = @"Label for sctn 0, row 1"; cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDetailDisclosureButton; } break; } } Successfully end up where we want to be (?), no check, (and no keyboard!): - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSLog(@"didSelectRowAtIndexPath"); switch (indexPath.section) { case 0: NSLog(@" section=0, rowNmbr=%d",indexPath.row); switch (indexPath.row) { case 0: UITableViewCell *cellSelected = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath: indexPath]; UITextField *textField = [[cellSelected.contentView subviews] objectAtIndex: 0]; [ textField setEnabled: YES ]; [textField becomeFirstResponder]; // here is where keyboard will appear? [tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath: indexPath animated: NO]; break; case 1: // code break; default: break; } break; case 1: // code break; default: // handle otherwise un-handled exception break; } } Thank you for your insights!

  • Accessing multiple view controllers in page controller

    - by Apple Delegates
    I am showing view in ipad like a book, single view shows two view. I want to add more views so that when view flipped third and fourth view appears and further. I am using the code below to do so. I am adding ViewControllers to array it got kill at orientation method at this line " ContentViewController *currentViewController = [self.pageViewController.viewControllers objectAtIndex:0];". - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; //Instantiate the model array self.modelArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; for (int index = 1; index <= 12 ; index++) { [self.modelArray addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"Page %d",index]]; } //Step 1 //Instantiate the UIPageViewController. self.pageViewController = [[UIPageViewController alloc] initWithTransitionStyle:UIPageViewControllerTransitionStylePageCurl navigationOrientation:UIPageViewControllerNavigationOrientationHorizontal options:nil]; //Step 2: //Assign the delegate and datasource as self. self.pageViewController.delegate = self; self.pageViewController.dataSource = self; //Step 3: //Set the initial view controllers. ViewOne *one = [[ViewOne alloc]initWithNibName:@"ViewOne" bundle:nil]; viewTwo *two = [[viewTwo alloc]initWithNibName:@"ViewTwo" bundle:nil]; ContentViewController *contentViewController = [[ContentViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"ContentViewController" bundle:nil]; contentViewController.labelContents = [self.modelArray objectAtIndex:0]; // NSArray *viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObject:contentViewController]; viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:contentViewController,one,two,nil]; [self.pageViewController setViewControllers:viewControllers direction:UIPageViewControllerNavigationDirectionForward animated:NO completion:nil]; //Step 4: //ViewController containment steps //Add the pageViewController as the childViewController [self addChildViewController:self.pageViewController]; //Add the view of the pageViewController to the current view [self.view addSubview:self.pageViewController.view]; //Call didMoveToParentViewController: of the childViewController, the UIPageViewController instance in our case. [self.pageViewController didMoveToParentViewController:self]; //Step 5: // set the pageViewController's frame as an inset rect. CGRect pageViewRect = self.view.bounds; pageViewRect = CGRectInset(pageViewRect, 40.0, 40.0); self.pageViewController.view.frame = pageViewRect; //Step 6: //Assign the gestureRecognizers property of our pageViewController to our view's gestureRecognizers property. self.view.gestureRecognizers = self.pageViewController.gestureRecognizers; } - (UIPageViewControllerSpineLocation)pageViewController:(UIPageViewController *)pageViewController spineLocationForInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)orientation { if(UIInterfaceOrientationIsPortrait(orientation)) { //Set the array with only 1 view controller UIViewController *currentViewController = [self.pageViewController.viewControllers objectAtIndex:0]; NSArray *viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObject:currentViewController]; [self.pageViewController setViewControllers:viewControllers direction:UIPageViewControllerNavigationDirectionForward animated:YES completion:NULL]; //Important- Set the doubleSided property to NO. self.pageViewController.doubleSided = NO; //Return the spine location return UIPageViewControllerSpineLocationMin; } else { // NSArray *viewControllers = nil; ContentViewController *currentViewController = [self.pageViewController.viewControllers objectAtIndex:0]; NSUInteger currentIndex = [self.modelArray indexOfObject:[(ContentViewController *)currentViewController labelContents]]; if(currentIndex == 0 || currentIndex %2 == 0) { UIViewController *nextViewController = [self pageViewController:self.pageViewController viewControllerAfterViewController:currentViewController]; viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:currentViewController, nextViewController, nil]; } else { UIViewController *previousViewController = [self pageViewController:self.pageViewController viewControllerBeforeViewController:currentViewController]; viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:previousViewController, currentViewController, nil]; } //Now, set the viewControllers property of UIPageViewController [self.pageViewController setViewControllers:viewControllers direction:UIPageViewControllerNavigationDirectionForward animated:YES completion:NULL]; return UIPageViewControllerSpineLocationMid; } }

  • FastObjects.NET(is an OODB from Versant) performence in Real Scenerios?

    - by Lalit
    FastObjects.NET Saves the whole class object(if marked with attribute Persistent) at once in file system(using serilization or similar technology). They are promissing that it is even faster then normal SQL DB approach. My team also thought it is better and faster to save the whole object once instead of each field one by one. Defination of their website: FastObjects .NET 10.0 fully conforms to the Microsoft.NET 2.0 framework. Tightly integrated with Visual Studio 2005, it offers a developer-friendly, object-oriented alternative to a relational database for .NET persistence. I want to have your experiences of using FastObjects in production scenerio? They are promising for Indexing/Transaction/clustoring/replication.

  • Spritebatch not working in winforms

    - by CodingMadeEasy
    I'm using the Winforms sample on the app hub and everything is working fine except my spritebatch won't draw anything unless I call Invalidate in the Draw method. I have this in my initialize method: Application.Idle += delegate { Invalidate(); }; I used a breakpoint and it is indeed invalidating my program and it is calling my draw method. I get no errors with the spritebatch and all the textures are loaded I just don't see anything on the screen. Here's the code I have: protected override void Draw() { GraphicsDevice.Clear(Color.CornflowerBlue); spriteBatch.Begin(); tileSheet.Draw(spriteBatch); foreach (Image img in selector) img.Draw(spriteBatch); spriteBatch.End(); } But when I do this: protected override void Draw() { GraphicsDevice.Clear(Color.CornflowerBlue); spriteBatch.Begin(); tileSheet.Draw(spriteBatch); foreach (Image img in selector) img.Draw(spriteBatch); spriteBatch.End(); Invalidate(); } then all of a sudden the drawing starts to work! but the problem is that it freezes everything else and only that control gets updated. What can I do to fix this? It's really frustrating.

    - by Gopinath
    Vacations are very relaxing – no need to reply to endless mails, no marathon meeting or conference calls. It’s all about fun during the vacation. The troubles begin as you near the end of vacation and plans to think about getting back to work. Once we are back to work after a long vacation there will be many things to worry – a pile of snail mails, hundreds of unread emails,  a flood of phone calls to answer and a stream of scheduled meetings. How to handle all the backlog and catch up quickly with the inflow of work? Here is a management tip from Harvard Business Review blog to get back to work the right way after a long vacation Block off your morning. Make sure you don’t have any meetings scheduled or big projects due. Then before you open your inbox, pause and think about your work priorities. As you make your way through emails and voicemails, focus on returning the messages that are connected to what matters most. Defer or delegate things that aren’t top priority. And remember it will probably take more than one day to get caught up, so be easy on yourself. Hope these tips lets you plan a right comeback to work after your vacation. cc Image credit: flickr/dfwcre8tive This article titled,Tips To Manage An Effectively Come Back To Work After A Long Vacation, was originally published at Tech Dreams. • Need reccomendation for transferring ASP.NET MVC skills to PHP

    - by Tuck
    I am looking to translate my skills in .NET to PHP - specifically in regards to ASP.NET MVC. At work I am currently using .NET MVC 2.0 on a variety of projects and thoroughly enjoy the platform. Specifically I enjoy the very minimal configuration required to get a project up and running (just create the project, define routes, and start coding), as well as the ability for controller actions to return different items (i.e. ActionResult, JsonResult). Another piece I really like is the way the view/model interaction can be handled. For example I like being able to call return View(model) and having a view page (.aspx) load and having the full model object available to the view, regardless of the model type. I'm looking for a PHP implementation of MVC that is the most similiar to what I am already familiar with. I don't anything apart from the MVC functionality. I've looked at Zend, Symfony, CodeIgniter, etc. and, while they look like they'll be fun to play with in the future, they provide much more functionality than I need. I'd prefer to write my own DAL,form helpers, delegate handlers,authentication/ACL pieces, etc. In short, I just need something to handle the routing and view interactions and will worry about the model implementation myself. Can someone please point me to some lightweight code that accomplishes or comes close to accomplishing my objectives above. Or, can someone identify just the portions of a larger framework that do the same (again, I'm not currently interested in implementing something on a big framework, just the MVC portion and want to implement the model portion myself as much as possible). Thanks in advance...

  • Guest Post: Using IronRuby and .NET to produce the &lsquo;Hello World of WPF&rsquo;

    - by Eric Nelson
    [You might want to also read other GuestPosts on my blog – or contribute one?] On the 26th and 27th of March (2010) myself and Edd Morgan of Microsoft will be popping along to the Scottish Ruby Conference. I dabble with Ruby and I am a huge fan whilst Edd is a “proper Ruby developer”. Hence I asked Edd if he was interested in creating a guest post or two for my blog on IronRuby. This is the second of those posts. If you should stumble across this post and happen to be attending the Scottish Ruby Conference, then please do keep a look out for myself and Edd. We would both love to chat about all things Ruby and IronRuby. And… we should have (if Amazon is kind) a few books on IronRuby with us at the conference which will need to find a good home. This is me and Edd and … the book: Order on Amazon: http://bit.ly/ironrubyunleashed Using IronRuby and .NET to produce the ‘Hello World of WPF’ In my previous post I introduced, to a minor extent, IronRuby. I expanded a little on the basics of by getting a Rails app up-and-running on this .NET implementation of the Ruby language — but there wasn't much to it! So now I would like to go from simply running a pre-existing project under IronRuby to developing a whole new application demonstrating the seamless interoperability between IronRuby and .NET. In particular, we'll be using WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) — the component of the .NET Framework stack used to create rich media and graphical interfaces. Foundations of WPF To reiterate, WPF is the engine in the .NET Framework responsible for rendering rich user interfaces and other media. It's not the only collection of libraries in the framework with the power to do this — Windows Forms does the trick, too — but it is the most powerful and flexible. Put simply, WPF really excels when you need to employ eye candy. It's all about creating impact. Whether you're presenting a document, video, a data entry form, some kind of data visualisation (which I am most hopeful for, especially in terms of IronRuby - more on that later) or chaining all of the above with some flashy animations, you're likely to find that WPF gives you the most power when developing any of these for a Windows target. Let's demonstrate this with an example. I give you what I like to consider the 'hello, world' of WPF applications: the analogue clock. Today, over my lunch break, I created a WPF-based analogue clock using IronRuby... Any normal person would have just looked at their watch. - Twitter The Sample Application: Click here to see this sample in full on GitHub. Using Windows Presentation Foundation from IronRuby to create a Clock class Invoking the Clock class   Gives you The above is by no means perfect (it was a lunch break), but I think it does the job of illustrating IronRuby's interoperability with WPF using a familiar data visualisation. I'm sure you'll want to dissect the code yourself, but allow me to step through the important bits. (By the way, feel free to run this through ir first to see what actually happens). Now we're using IronRuby - unlike my previous post where we took pure Ruby code and ran it through ir, the IronRuby interpreter, to demonstrate compatibility. The main thing of note is the very distinct parallels between .NET namespaces and Ruby modules, .NET classes and Ruby classes. I guess there's not much to say about it other than at this point, you may as well be working with a purely Ruby graphics-drawing library. You're instantiating .NET objects, but you're doing it with the standard Ruby .new method you know from Ruby as Object#new — although, the root object of all your IronRuby objects isn't actually Object, it's System.Object. You're calling methods on these objects (and classes, for example in the call to System.Windows.Controls.Canvas.SetZIndex()) using the underscored, lowercase convention established for the Ruby language. The integration is so seamless. The fact that you're using a dynamic language on top of .NET's CLR is completely abstracted from you, allowing you to just build your software. A Brief Note on Events Events are a big part of developing client applications in .NET as well as under every other environment I can think of. In case you aren't aware, event-driven programming is essentially the practice of telling your code to call a particular method, or other chunk of code (a delegate) when something happens at an unpredictable time. You can never predict when a user is going to click a button, move their mouse or perform any other kind of input, so the advent of the GUI is what necessitated event-driven programming. This is where one of my favourite aspects of the Ruby language, blocks, can really help us. In traditional C#, for instance, you may subscribe to an event (assign a block of code to execute when an event occurs) in one of two ways: by passing a reference to a named method, or by providing an anonymous code block. You'd be right for seeing the parallel here with Ruby's concept of blocks, Procs and lambdas. As demonstrated at the very end of this rather basic script, we are using .NET's System.Timers.Timer to (attempt to) update the clock every second (I know it's probably not the best way of doing this, but for example's sake). Note: Diverting a little from what I said above, the ticking of a clock is very predictable, yet we still use the event our Timer throws to do this updating as one of many ways to perform that task outside of the main thread. You'll see that all that's needed to assign a block of code to be triggered on an event is to provide that block to the method of the name of the event as it is known to the CLR. This drawback to this is that it only allows the delegation of one code block to each event. You may use the add method to subscribe multiple handlers to that event - pushing that to the end of a queue. Like so: def tick puts "tick tock" end timer.elapsed.add method(:tick) timer.elapsed.add proc { puts "tick tock" } tick_handler = lambda { puts "tick tock" } timer.elapsed.add(tick_handler)   The ability to just provide a block of code as an event handler helps IronRuby towards that very important term I keep throwing around; low ceremony. Anonymous methods are, of course, available in other more conventional .NET languages such as C# and VB but, as usual, feel ever so much more elegant and natural in IronRuby. Note: Whether it's a named method or an anonymous chunk o' code, the block you delegate to the handling of an event can take arguments - commonly, a sender object and some args. Another Brief Note on Verbosity Personally, I don't mind verbose chaining of references in my code as long as it doesn't interfere with performance - as evidenced in the example above. While I love clean code, there's a certain feeling of safety that comes with the terse explicitness of long-winded addressing and the describing of objects as opposed to ambiguity (not unlike this sentence). However, when working with IronRuby, even I grow tired of typing System::Whatever::Something. Some people enjoy simply assuming namespaces and forgetting about them, regardless of the language they're using. Don't worry, IronRuby has you covered. It is completely possible to, with a call to include, bring the contents of a .NET-converted module into context of your IronRuby code - just as you would if you wanted to bring in an 'organic' Ruby module. To refactor the style of the above example, I could place the following at the top of my Clock class: class Clock include System::Windows::Shape include System::Windows::Media include System::Windows::Threading # and so on...   And by doing so, reduce calls to System::Windows::Shapes::Ellipse.new to simply Ellipse.new or references to System::Windows::Threading::DispatcherPriority.Render to a friendlier DispatcherPriority.Render. Conclusion I hope by now you can understand better how IronRuby interoperates with .NET and how you can harness the power of the .NET framework with the dynamic nature and elegant idioms of the Ruby language. The manner and parlance of Ruby that makes it a joy to work with sets of data is, of course, present in IronRuby — couple that with WPF's capability to produce great graphics quickly and easily, and I hope you can visualise the possibilities of data visualisation using these two things. Using IronRuby and WPF together to create visual representations of data and infographics is very exciting to me. Although today, with this project, we're only presenting one simple piece of information - the time - the potential is much grander. My day-to-day job is centred around software development and UI design, specifically in the realm of healthcare, and if you were to pay a visit to our office you would behold, directly above my desk, a large plasma TV with a constantly rotating, animated slideshow of charts and infographics to help members of our team do their jobs. It's an app powered by WPF which never fails to spark some conversation with visitors whose gaze has been hooked. If only it was written in IronRuby, the pleasantly low ceremony and reduced pre-processing time for my brain would have helped greatly. • Bug with Set / Get Accessor in .Net 3.5

    - by MarkPearl
    I spent a few hours scratching my head on this one... So I thought I would blog about it in case someone else had the same headache. Assume you have a class, and you are wanting to use the INotifyPropertyChanged interface so that when you bind to an instance of the class, you get the magic sauce of binding to do you updates to the UI. Well, I had a special instance where I wanted one of the properties of the class to add some additional formatting to itself whenever someone changed its value (see the code below).   class Test: INotifyPropertyChanged {     private string_inputValue;     public stringInputValue     {         get        {             return_inputValue;         }         set        {             if(value!= _inputValue)             {                 _inputValue = value+ "Extra Stuff";                 NotifyPropertyChanged("InputValue");                     }         }     }     public eventPropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged;     public voidNotifyPropertyChanged(stringinfo)     {         if(PropertyChanged != null)         {             PropertyChanged(this, newPropertyChangedEventArgs(info));         }     } }   Everything looked fine, but when I ran it in my WPF project, the textbox I was binding to would not update? I couldn’t understand it! I thought the code made sense, so why wasn’t it working? Eventually StackOverflow came to the rescue, where I was told that it was a bug in the .Net 3.5 Runtime and that a fix was scheduled in .Net 4 For those who have the same problem, here is the workaround… You need to put the NotifyPropertyChanged method on the application thread! public string InputValue { get { return _inputValue; } set { if (value != _inputValue) { _inputValue = value + "Extra Stuff"; // // React to the type of measurement // Application.Current.Dispatcher.BeginInvoke((Action)delegate { NotifyPropertyChanged("InputValue"); }); } } }

  • How to reference jQuery in SharePoint2010

    - by ybbest
    In normal asp.net development, in order to add jQuery to your solution you need to add the following script to your Master page. <script language=”javascript” type=”text/javascript” src=”Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js”></script> There are not many differences in referencing jQuery in SharePoint2010; in fact you got quite a few ways to achieve this. The first thing you need to do is to deploy jQuery using SharePoint module template in Visual studio. Then you can choose one of the following ways of referencing jQuery. 1. Using a Delegate Control 2. in the master Page 3. Ad hoc (e.g. in a site page or web part) 4. Using a Custom Action (Can be used as Sandbox solution, you can find example here.)
