• SQL Server rolling forward lots of transactions, what should I look at?

  I am running SQL Server Express on a Windows XP Embedded box. It runs for a day or two, doing some transactional processing for a POS type system, and with another system pulling data out to an OLAP DB for processing. After a while, I see in the event viewer the sequence SQL Server puts out when it restarts, copy rights, command line parameters, and so on. It seems like that coincides with our OLAP process crashing. I then see that when it restarts our transaction DB, it does a recovery, pulling in 10K or so in transactions that need to be rolled forward. Does this mean SQL has crashed? I don't really see much to indicate what happened. Update 1 I noticed I have my memory limit set to 1MB per query and 2TB for the server. These are the defaults. I only have one GB in the box. We have seen SQL crash a whole box by just using all the system memory. In this case though the whole box is up when we get to it.

• Windows XP corrupts registry every several hours

  There is a Dell XPS 400 with Windows Media Center installer. It is installed on RAID (Intel Matrix Storage) which is built-in chipset south bridge. Raid has two 150 Gb WDC drivers connected as mirror. All drivers and updates are installed( sp3 and so on). A week ago PC changed its video mode to 256 colors (like VESA mode) and after several moments I got BSOD: c000021a: 0xc0000005 Doctor watson did not create dump although it is installed as default debugger. After reboot it said that config file is missing or corrupted. So, I boot to recovery console and found that registry file (config) is so small. I've replaced it with one from recovery point and windows booted sucessfully. But after about 3 hrs -- it has crashed again in the same wat! I look in event viewer: is said that Explorer.exe failed to open \global??\DLIAFS. I look in winobj, and found that it is a device. I made "deny from everyone" for this device ACL, and after several hours my windows crashed. I restored registry, boot again and there was no error about DLIAFS. I did full chkdsk and it did not found anything bad. But I found event about error paging to \Harddrive1\D. I do not have pagefile there, but I thought I should check my disk again. Unfortunatelly I cannt use smart tools for RAID, but I downloaded latest software from Intel (it can do the same things like RAID bios can but from windows). It verified my disks, found some errors, fix them, than I rebooted. And it crashed again. I am lost. What (except kernel debugging) could be done here? Thanks

• Slow network file transfer (under 20KB/s) on newly built x64 Win7

  I am getting <20KB/s for local network file transfer. If I transfer a very small file (less than 100KB) it would start quickly then slow down to <20KB/s. all subsequently network file transfer would be slow, a reboot is needed to reset this. If I transfer a large file it would be stuck on calculating for a long time and then begin with <20KB/s immediately. This is a newly built desktop running Windows 7 x64 SP1. Realtek gigabit LAN from the motherboard (ASRock Extreme3 gen3). Problematic speed is observed on the private LAN, both through ethernet and WiFi. The Router is D-Link DIR-655. Remote Differential Compression is off. Drivers are up-to-date from ASRock's website. I have tested network file transfer to and from another Windows 7 laptop and a MacBook Pro, so I am fairly certain it is the desktop's problem. The slow speed only happens with one direction also, outbound from the desktop, regardless of whether I initiate the file transfer action from the origin or the destination. Inbound network file transfer and internet speeds are fine, so I don't think this is a hardware issue. I am getting 74.8MB/s internet upload speed from speedtest.net (http://www.speedtest.net/result/1852752479.png). Inbound network file transfer I can get around 10-15MB/s. I am hoping this community has some insight for me to troubleshoot this. I don't see anything obviously related from the Event Viewer, and beyond that I just don't know where else to look. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

• IIS 7.5 FTP Service crashes after installation of Advanced Logging 1.0 Module

  I've recently been tasked with setting up two new productions servers for an ASP.Net application. The servers sit behind a F5 Load Balancer, which in turn forwards the end users IP address forward via the standard X_Forwarded_For HTTP Header. All of the reading that I have done suggests that I need to install the IIS Advanced Logging Module in order to take advantage of the X_Forwarded_For HTTP Header. Some quick background: Both of the web servers are Windows 2008 R2 Standard (x64), with IIS 7.5 installed and configured. The FTP Role has also been installed, configured and is operational. The Issue After installing the IIS Advanced Logging module via the Web Platform Installer, I noticed the following Error in the Event Viewer: The FTP Service encountered an error trying to read configuration data from file \?\C:\Windows\system32\inetsrv\config\applicationHost.config, line number 374. The error message is: Unrecognized element 'advancedLogging' Trying to connect over FTP to either of the web servers results in a 530. I've spent 2 hours scouring Google trying to find a solution, short of uninstalling the Advanced Logging Module. As far as I can tell, there is no way to turn off Advanced Logging on a site per site basis. Help would be appreciated.

• Exchange 2010 Hub cannot deliver to Exchange 2007 Hub - "451 5.7.3 Cannot achieve Exchange Server authentication"

  We have an existing Exchange 2007 server in Site A (exch07). I've installed an Exchange 2010 server in Site B (exch10). Both servers have the CAS, Mailbox and Hub roles. Messages sent via SMTP on exch10 which are destined for mailboxes on exch07 are queued with the "Last Error" reported in Queue Viewer as '451 4.4.0 Primary target IP address responded with: "451 5.7.3 Cannot achieve Exchange Server authentication." Attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed. Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate hosts.' I've found that some people have resolved this by creating new Receive Connectors which are scoped specifically to apply to connections from the remote hub/s, but I have had no luck doing this. Specifically I created new receive connectors on both servers with the following settings: Remote IP = IP/s of remote server Authentication = "Transport Layer Security (TLS)" and "Exchange Server authentication" Permission Groups = "Exchange servers" and "Legacy Exchange Servers" This made no difference, I see the same error message. What am I missing? Update: We noticed that the Application log had this error message from MSExchangeTransportService: Microsoft Exchange could not find a certificate that contains the domain name exch07.domain.local in the personal store on the local computer. Therefore, it is unable to support the STARTTLS SMTP verb for the connector exch10 with a FQDN parameter of exch07.domain.local. If the connector's FQDN is not specified, the computer's FQDN is used. Verify the connector configuration and the installed certificates to make sure that there is a certificate with a domain name for that FQDN. If this certificate exists, run Enable-ExchangeCertificate -Services SMTP to make sure that the Microsoft Exchange Transport service has access to the certificate key. It turns out that the default self-signed certificate was no longer enabled for the SMTP service for some reason. After enabling the self-signed certificate for SMTP, we no longer get the error in the event logs, but delivery is still failing with the same error message. Update 2: I put a mailbox on exch10 and attempted to deliver a message via SMTP on exch07 and I get the same error.

• Mail to Mailenable group sometimes bounces back because it cannot find one of the group members

  I am using MailEnable Enterprise Edition 6.53. On one of my PostOffices I have a group address set up with 5 members in the group. Under normal circumstances when someone sends a mail to this group then the mail gets successfully forwarded to all 5 members in the group. However, every now and then when a recipient sends to the group they get a bounce back message from us that the mail could not be delivered because one of the user's addresses was not found on the server. This could happen for any one of the 5 users in the group. The error message looks like: Message could not be delivered. Error was: The email address is not available on this system The following recipient(s) could not be reached: [SF:mydomain.com/my_username] What could be causing this and how do I fix it? Obviously the mailbox DOES exist as, under normal circumstances, when someone mails the group the mail gets delivered successfully and forwarded to all group members. All the mailboxes most definitely DO exist on the system. EDIT: I have done more investigation and I see an error in Windows Event Viewer: MailEnable Database Provider error: 0 FAILURE: (SQLDriverConnect), Module: MEIMAPS.exe; Error: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Timeout expired This seems to be related to http://forum.mailenable.com/viewtopic.php?p=53157 and http://www.mailenable.com/kb/content/view.asp?ID=ME020535 but the setups in these links use MySQL as a database whereas we use SQL Server. Maybe this shines some new light on the problem?

• Some guest networking and VMware Tools functionality broken with Sprint SmartView on the host

  Using VMware Workstation 6.5.3 on Vista 64-bit. I started having problems with VMware networking about 6 months ago after upgrades to Sprint SmartView. I did not have problems previously, but I don't know if that is because I was lucky. The main symptoms of the problem when SmartView is installed are: I can no longer drag files from the host to copy them to the guest. When they are dragged, the disallowed cursor (the circle with a slash) shows in the guest. If I try to enable shared folders in the guest while it is running, I will not be able to see the shared files and will be informed that networking is not working. I can still ping guests from the host and I can still access network services via NAT most of the time when connected via my USB broadband adapter. When I configure shared folders so they are "always enabled" (with a mapped drive), I can access files on the via the mapped folders. I can also copy the file on the host and then paste it in the guest, as was suggested in some other threads concerning drag-and-drop problems that I found. The VMware Tools icon is showing in all cases and I don't see any obvious errors in the host's event viewer. If I uninstall SmartView, the problems disappear. If SmartView (current version is 2.28.0082) is reinstalled I will experience the same problems. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling VMware and SmartView in various ways but it appears tha these problems are consistent when SmartView is installed (not just when it is running or connected, but when it is present on the system). I'm wondering if this is a combination of software (WS 6.5.3, Vista64, and SmartView) that works for other people, which would indicate a problem that is peculiar to my configuration.

• SkyDrive broken after upgrade to Windows 8.1: "This location can't be found, please try later"

  Upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 via the Store upgrade path has screwed my SkyDrive. The C:\Users\<user name>\SkyDrive folder is empty (it only has single file desktop.ini). When I open the native (Store) SkyDrive app, I see "This location can't be found, please try later". I'm glad to still have my files alive online in my SkyDrive account. I tried disconneting from / reconnecting to my Microsoft Account with no luck. Anyone has an idea on how to fix this without reinstalling/refreshing Windows 8.1? Shouldn't have tried to upgrade it in the first place, but was convinced Windows 8.1 is a solid update. Another lesson learnt.

• CHKDSK is unable to fix NTFS errors

  After my PC shutdown due to power failure, I noticed several errors in EventViewer. The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Some clusters occupied by attribute of type 0x80 and instance tag 0x4 in file 0x198f2 is already in use. Deleting corrupt attribute record (128, "") from file record segment 104690. Attribute record of type 0x80 and instance tag 0x0 is cross linked Also, even after running CHKDSK, the same errors were being reported again so I ran CHKDSK another time and it still loops the same line above, without fixing the error. Can anyone tell me how to fix it?

• Constant crashes in windows 7 64bit when playing games

  I've tried everything I can possibly think of in trying to fix this problem and I'm totally out of ideas, so any help would be appreciated: The problem: whenever I fire up a game, it works for a short while with no problems and then it would crash. Either its a hard crash, forcing me to reboot, or windows would report that the display driver has stopped working and recovered. Here is a list of things I've already tried: Drivers - tried the latest drivers (catalyst 9.12) as well as the stock drivers that came with the video card. Also have the latest BIOS/chipset Memtest - Ran Memtest86+ overnight, had no problems, the windows diagnostic tool also does not find any problems. Overheating - Video card/cpu temperatures are well below peak (42 and 31 Celsius receptively) PSU Voltage - CPUID shows that the voltage levels are all above what they should be. The PSU itself is only roughly 16 months old and is a good model. HDD - No errors when checked GPU - Brand new (replaced previous card since I thought it was the problem, apparently not) Overclocking - Everything is at stock levels, memory voltage is set to manufacturer's standard Specs: Motherboard: ASUS P5Q Pro CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0 ghz OS: Windows 7 home premium 64 bit Memory: Mushkin Enhanced 4GB DDR2 GPU: Sapphire HD 5850 1GB PSU: SeaSonic M12 600W ATX12V DirectX: DX11 Event Viewer after a crash always has these logged: A fatal hardware error has occurred. Reported by component: Processor Core Error Source: Machine Check Exception Error Type: Bus/Interconnect Error Processor ID: 1 The details view of this entry contains further information. I get another event telling me that there is a report here: *C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportQueue\AppCrash_w3wp.exe_cdb8af6deb381574fe9fb0dc9aa3edaad59acd5f_cab_4fbf9b53* It contains the following files: WERD931.tmp.appcompat.txt WERDFE9.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml WER99EF.tmp.WERDataCollectionFailure.txt The "depressing one" is the WERDataCollectionFailure that says: Heap dump generation failed: 0x8007012b Mini dump generation failed: 0x8007001f After many tries, lots of msdn documentation and many failed google search. • IIS Digest repeatedly asking for authentication

  I have a development copy of an ASP.NET intranet site checked out and running on my local machine. We're using digest authentication to allow users to log in using their active directory accounts. On my development copy only, Digest sometimes will repeatedly prompt for login information usually ~9 times per page request. After repeatedly logging in (or it also works to cancel out of 8 out of the 9 prompts), I can use the site as normal. I cannot pinpoint what is triggering the issue. Sometimes this problem triggers upon the next page request, sometimes after I edited/saved/refreshed a page, and sometimes it doesn't happen at all. Each prompt triggers several logon (Event ID 4624 & 4672) security events in the Events Viewer. Shortly after each burst of logon events, I'll see a burst of logoff events (Event ID A co-worker who has a nearly an identical setup (Windows 7, IIS 7) is not experiencing the issue. Our production copy (that is running on a different server) also does not experience the issue. We've tried to compare our settings in IIS, not really finding any differences. I'm using chrome but I've experienced the issue in other browsers.

• Windows 8 Doesn't Shutdown Properly With Fast Start-Up Enabled

  While Fast start-up is enabled, on turning the computer off (shutdown) the computer idles for about 5min after logging out/screen turning off. It then turns off. On returning into Windows I receive the error message saying Windows didn't shut down properly. Hibernate works fine, and I am told this shouldn't be the case - If one doesn't work, neither should. It works when both Fast start-up is enabled and disabled, as does restart and sleep. Windows is installed under UEFI. The UEFI ultra fast boot option for my motherboard cannot be enabled as my GPU doesn't support some UEFI GOP tech. As far as I know, not related to windows fast start-up, but thought it was worth mentioning. To clarify, if this: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/6320-fast-startup-turn-off-windows-8-a.html is enabled, the computer does not shut down properly. EDIT: Some more information on the matter: Formatting didn't fix the issue. Still fails regardless of drivers installed. Hardware was purchased ~6months ago. Running a good SSD. Event viewer Always these two messages in close succession: Error (event ID 6008): The previous system shutdown at 7:45:21 PM on ?27/?10/?2012 was unexpected. Critical (kernel power, event ID 41): The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. Upon installing WPT as suggested below to figure out what was happening during shutdown, and running the cmd xbootmgr -trace shutdown -noPrepReboot -traceFlags BASE+CSWITCH+DRIVERS+POWER -resultPath C:\TEMP Windows fast start-up is now working consistently. Still works upon uninstalling WPT. This is the only change to occur on the computer. Nothing else has bee installed/uninstalled, no Windows Updates, nothing. Windows fast start-up did not work prior to installing WPT and running the cmd (made sure I tested).

• Diagnosing Microsoft SQL Server error 9001: The log for the database is not available.

  Over the weekend a website I run stopped functioning, recording the following error in the Event Viewer each time a request is made to the website: Event ID: 9001 The log for database 'database name' is not available. Check the event log for related error messages. Resolve any errors and restart the database. The website is hosted on a dedicated server, so I am able to RDP into the server and poke around. The LDF file for the database exists in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA folder, but attempting to do any work with the database from Management Studio results in a dialog box reporting the same error - 9001: The log for database is not available... This is the first time I've received this error, and I've been hosting this site (and others) on this dedicated web server for over two years now. It is my understanding that this error indicates a corrupt log file. I was able to get the website back online by Detaching the database and then restoring a backup from a couple days ago, but my concern is that this error is indicative of a more sinister problem, namely a hard drive failure. I emailed support at the web hosting company and this was their reply: There doesn't appear to be any other indications of the cause in the Event Log, so it's possible that the log was corrupted. Currently the memory's resources is at 87%, which also may have an impact but is unlikely. Can the log just "become corrupted?" My question: What are the next steps I should take to diagnose this problem? How can I determine if this is, indeed, a hardware problem? And if it is, are there any options beyond replacing the disk? • Sharepoint Central Administration stuck / high CPU usage

  I'm using WSS 3 and I recently added a new web application to my SharePoint Server. After adding it, I wasn't able to open the Central Administration site. I also noticed that there was a w3wp.exe error (Event ID 1000) in the Event Viewer. The situation now is that the w3wp.exe process is hovering around 50% CPU usage continuously. I installed a program called IIS Peek, and it shows continuous GET requests on the Central Administration site; this happens even if I stop the Central Administration site in IIS. The IP addresses identified in the GET request is my workstation, which is what I used to attempt to access Central Administration after I created the new web application. Can someone explain what's going on and how I might fix it? It seems as if my computer tried to access Central Administration and then it hung, but the page requests that were happening at the time are somehow continuing over and over again. So my two problems are the inability to access Central Administration, and the CPU Usage of w3wp.exe, which I'm assuming are two symptoms of the same problem. I'd like to know if there's anything I can do besides restarting IIS, because we have clients accessing other sites on this server. Thanks.

  I'm writing, and testing, a little tutorial for my groupmates involved in an openSSL homework. We have a bunch of PDF files, I'm the CA and each one should send me a signed PDF for me to be verified. I've told them to do the following (and tried to do it by myself) Request and obtain a certificate (I'll skip this part) Create a MIME message with the PDF file in it makemime -c "text/pdf" -a "Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=”Elaborato.pdf" Elaborato.pdf > Elaborato.pdf.msg Sign with openSSL openssl smime -sign -in Elaborato.pdf.msg -out Elaborato.pdf.p7m -certfile ca.pem -certfile nomegruppo.crt -inkey nomegruppo.key -signer nomegruppo.crt Verify with openssl smime -verify -in Elaborato.pdf.p7m -out Elaborato-verified.msg -CAfile ca.pem -signer nomegruppo.crt Extract attachment with munpack Elaborato-verified.msg View with Acrobat Reader The problem is that even if I get a file that (from its binary content) resembles a PDF file my current Ubuntu PDF viewer doesn't read it. The XXXElaborato.pdf extracted by munpack is a little bit smaller than the original. What's the problem with this procedure? In theory, they should send me the signed S/MIME message and I should be able to read the PDF within it. Why can't I restore the original content of the PDF file?

• Is there any way to synchronize Outlook RSS Feeds with BlackBerry?

  Does anyone know how I can view the contents of my Outlook 2007 RSS Feeds from a corporate-issued BlackBerry? Our Inbox and Calendar are already integrated with corporate exchange servers but it looks like nobody cares too much about the RSS Feeds. Is there some setting on my Blackberry or in Outlook I could possibly tweak to include these updates? I know there are many standalone RSS readers available for blackberry (Google Reader for example) but I mention Outlook RSS Feeds specifically in my question because I am subscribing to a number of RSS feeds I've setup on my intranet for various version control systems that would be inaccessible to an external RSS reader. It seems like I might have to setup some sort of email commit notifications if I want anything from my blackberry but I much prefer the 'pull' method of an RSS feed viewer over receiving streams of emails. Please feel free to suggest any alternatives! Edit: I've additionally tried moving my "SVN Repository" folder directly into my Mailbox instead of keeping it as a child of the RSS Feeds folder. This allows me to view the SVN Repository folder on my blackberry where previously the RSS Feeds folder and all children were hidden but unfortunately it never seems to get populated with the items that are displaying in Outlook.   I wanted to get a quick report of some log entries I saw on a server, so I ran: Get-Eventlog -logname system -newest 10 -computer fs1 | fl I got events back however the descriptions were all wrong. • Windows 7 restarts while being idle

  My Windows 7 almost always restarts when I keep it idle for ~20-30mins. It happened randomly before, but lately, if I leave the computer I can be sure it's gonna restart after those 30mins. It never happens when I play games or work tho, just when it's idle. It's a fresh install of Windows 7 64bit. I had also problems while installing it, it always crashed while finalizing the install and I had to reinstall again. Eventually it installed on 3rd or 4th try after I deleted all of my partitions and added them again. I thought it might have been a hardware problem, but temperatures seem to be okay and I have no idea how to track what might have been causing it. Any ideas? I'm running Windows 7 64bit on: Gigabyte EX58-UD4P Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 6GB of DDR3 1066Mhz RAM WDC WD1001FALS-00J7B0 1TB SATA II I have a very bad feeling it might be something with HDD and its compatibility with Windows 7 as I haven't had those problems for 1 year while I had Vista. Edit: I checked Event Viewer critical errors from this night. PC restarted first time at 11:12pm, then at 3:06am and since then every ~20min until I came back to it. • Windows 7 Not Recognizing Camera Nor iPhone as Camera

  I've been struggling with this one for a few days. I've recently upgraded an older computer to Windows 7 Home Premium. Neither my digital camera (A Canon SD1200IS) nor iPhone are ever detected as cameras, nor ever show up as accessable in Explorer. With the Canon camera, no driver is required. It's supposed to work with the default Windows 7 drivers. However, in the Control Panel's Device Manager, I'm always seeing a yellow icon next to the "Canon Digital Camera" device. I've uninstalled the device and let Windows attempt to reinstall, but it can never find a driver to install. With the iPhone, it's very similar. One big difference, though, is that iTunes can see the iPhone and back it up, etc. However, again when I go to the Device Manager, there's a yellow icon next to the iPhone. I've uninstalled iTunes, reinstalled, rebooted, deleted drivers, and let Window try to reinstall the driver, but it can never find the driver. So there seems to be some correlation that my machine can't detect cameras properly, and that it might be even a lower-level type of driver I'm struggling with. I know that USB however, does work, because I have have an external drive hooked into the machine. I've gone through the web and tried two hours worth of fixes, without success. I feel like if I can get the Canon camera detected, then the iPhone will be on it's way to being fixed too. BTW, I couldn't really find anything of use in the Event viewer. Any and all suggestions welcome.

• Window 7 Host does not answer to ping

  Today I tried printing on a shared printer on one of our homegroup members. Sadly it did not work (printer marked as offline). Shortly after, I noticed I can't even ping the machine that owns the printer (I also can not remotely access it in any other way I've tried). Currently I'm trying to ping the machine from the router both computers are connected to (and my machine in question doesn't answer). I do receive the echo requests (as verified with WireShark). I also added a rule in the Windows Firewall to specifically allow ICMP echo requests, but that didn't change anything. I also tried netsh firewall set icmpsetting 8 enable, but that didn't change anything either. Completely disabling the Windows Firewall has no effect on the issue either. One has to wonder, where does Windows log when and why it ignored any incoming packets? How can I get to the bottom of this? Here are some ways I found to dig deeper into the issue: Enabling logging on the Windows Firewall Enabling Windows Filtering Platform Auditing Both methods at least give more insight into the issue. The plain log file is full of entries like this: 2011-11-11 14:35:27 DROP ICMP 192.168.133.1 192.168.133.128 - - 84 - - - - 8 0 - RECEIVE So the ICMP packets are being dropped as if that was intended. The Event Viewer now gives a little bit more details: The Windows Filtering Platform has blocked a packet. Application Information: Process ID: 4 Application Name: System Network Information: Direction: Inbound Source Address: 192.168.133.1 Source Port: 0 Destination Address: 192.168.133.128 Destination Port: 8 Protocol: 1 Filter Information: Filter Run-Time ID: 214517 Layer Name: Receive/Accept Layer Run-Time ID: 44 This same entry is always repeated with 2 points of information changing: Process ID: 420 Application Name: \device\harddiskvolume2\windows\system32\svchost.exe The service host with the PID 420 is the host for the following services: Windows Audio DHCP Client Windows Event Log HomeGroup Provider TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper Security Center Additionally, there is currently this problem with the same machine: Even though my network is set to be a "Home network", I am unable to create a new homegroup.

• .NET 2.0 Application now running slow on IIS 7.5

  I recently moved (and still in testing) an application from a Windows 2003 Server (Physical box) running IIS 6.x to a Windows 2008 R2 Standard (VM) IIS 7.5 server. The application is a .NET framework 2.0 application and is running under a 2.0 App Pool. This site works great except for one thing: Takes forever to get a request back. I've been tracking it with Chrome Inspect Element and it queries the site and can take up to 45 seconds to answer. Now when it does the page(s) render instantly but it's that initial request that's killing it. I see no error logs or issues with the application or Windows Event Viewer or even IIS logs so not sure where to start looking next. Some new changes was that previously the app resided behind a Pix firewall and now is behind a larger network environment in a DMZ zone (and I believe NetScaler is also being used to manage the network). I do not have rights/abilities to look at the network itself but can contact the Data center folks to look deeper into this but I wanted to make sure it's not my application that might be causing the slowdown or IIS. In summary: .NET 2.0 application works great in IIS 6.x Application moved to an IIS 7.5 server and now slow on rendering but when it does render responds back with pages instantly. Edit for solution Found out that it was the SOAP calls that were slowing the site down. In the new datacenter my application cannot request SOAP calls and so they time out after 40-45 seconds or so. Now trying to find out if I can install a proxy server to redirect this...

• Exchange 2010 sends out spam.

  Hi. I have an Exchange Server 2010, that uses a smart host to send out mails. A day ago the owner of smart host contact us and told us that we send out spam. I have try different open relay test on the net and all of them come back saying that this server is secured and can not be used as relay server. But I can see in my Exchange Queue Viewer that it keeps coming in new messages. Here is an example of how it looks. Could I have got an virus that hooks up to our exchange server and send mail throw that? As I can see the From Address is always <, is there someway that I can stop sending mails that don't have a from address that I describe? Pleas help

• Getting 0xc00000e windows 7 "Boot device inaccessible" after random crashes

  I've been having some weird random crashes that I can't seem to locate, and I'm unsure if it's windows or hardware related. It's a brand new computer and very powerful. I've run into a couple of these random crashes, now I don't know what causes them, as it happens during the night, when I'm sleeping. When I wake up, all I see is a boot manager screen that says Exception: 0xc00000e "Boot device inaccessible". A simple restart doesn't fix the problem - it seems to struggle locating my primary hdd - but a complete shutdown works, it'll just fly straight into windows again. The event viewer doesn't tell me much. The most reason incident just gives me this: "The previous system shutdown at 08:55:44 on ?11-?12-?2011 was unexpected." And also a kernel power event: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. and I can see only two application event entries around that time at 8.47 (about 8 minutes prior to the crash): The Windows Modules Installer service entered the running state. The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service service entered the running state. Can anyone tell me anything about this, or direct me to a forum or something that might know what's wrong? I can supply the extra details of the events too if needed. The hdd is an SSD - could that have anything to do with it? I ran a few diagnostics and memory and hdd should be okay - at least the diagnostics report is clean. Is it a faulty drive?
