    Hello, I'm kind of a website development nub so bear with me. My problem is that the website php session doesn't seem to be set when I log in to my website. After ensuring that the username and password are correct, I have the following simple code: $_SESSION['username'] = $myusername; $_SESSION['password'] = $mypassword; session_start(); Content that should display after logging in is not displayed.   • How can I load a Class contained in a website from a DLL referenced by that website???

    Ok so this is alittle bit obscure and I'm not sure its the best way of doing what I'm trying to do but here goes. Basically I have a Presentation Layer Dll in my web site which handles the Model View Presenter classes. The presentation layer also handles login for my website and then calls off to a web service. Currently whenever the presentation layer calls to a model it verifies the users details and if they are invalid it calls to a loginHandler which redirects the user to the login page. However I cannot dynamically load a new istance of the Login Page in my website from within my Presentation layer. I've tried to use reflection to dynamically load the class but Since the method call is in the presentation assembly it is only looking within that assembly while the page I want to load is in the website. heres the reflection code that loads the View: public ILoginView LoadView() { string viewName = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["LoginView"].ToString(); Type type = Type.GetType(viewName, true); object newInstance = Activator.CreateInstance(type); return newInstance as ILoginView; } Anyone got any suggestions on how to search within the website assembly? Ideal I don't want to tie this implementation into the website specifically as the presentation layer is also used in a WPF application.

  • php, user-uploaded files, version control, and website deployment

    I have a website that I regularly update the code to. I keep it in version control. When I want to deploy a new version of the site, I do an export and then symlink the served directory name to the directory of the deployment. There is a place where users can upload files, and I noticed once that, after I had deployed a new version, the user files were gone! Of course, I hadn't added them to the repository, and since the served site was from an export, they weren't uploaded into a version-controlled directory anyways. PHP doesn't yet have integrated svn functionality, so I couldn't do much programmatically to user uploaded files. My solution was to create an additional website, files.website.com, which sits in a parallel directory to the served website, and is served out of a directory that is under version control. That way they don't get obliterated when I do an upgrade to the website. From time to time, I manually add uploaded files to the svn project, deleted user-deleted ones, and commit the new version. I'm working on a shell script to run from cron to do this, but it isn't my forte, so it's on the backburner as it's not a pressing need. Is there a better way to do this?

  • C: 8x8 -> 16 bit multiply precision guaranteed by integer promotions?

    I'm trying to figure out if the C Standard (C90, though I'm working off Derek Jones' annotated C99 book) guarantees that I will not lose precision multiplying two unsigned 8-bit values and storing to a 16-bit result. An example statement is as follows: unsigned char foo; unsigned int foo_u16 = foo * 10; Our Keil 8051 compiler (v7.50 at present) will generate a MUL AB instruction which stores the MSB in the B register and the LSB in the accumulator. If I cast foo to a unsigned int first: unsigned int foo_u16 = (unsigned int)foo * 10; then the compiler correctly decides I want a unsigned int there and generates an expensive call to a 16x16 bit integer multiply routine. I would like to argue beyond reasonable doubt that this defensive measure is not necessary. As I read the integer promotions described in 6.3.1.1, the effect of the first line shall be as if foo and 10 were promoted to unsigned int, the multiplication performed, and the result stored as unsigned int in foo_u16. If the compiler knows an instruction that does 8x8-16 bit multiplications without loss of precision, so much the better; but the precision is guaranteed. Am I reading this correctly?     I have a website (not a web application- in visual studio you get two options-create a website/project) running on IIS 6.0. Now I want to develop few features in MVC architecture. So I created one MVC application in visual studio and everything is working fine on localhost as a separate application. Now I want to host this MVC app also inside the website I have already deployed. I created a virtual directory(MVCDir) inside the default website in IIS 6.0. The global.asax file which was in root folder I added the routing function- Shared Sub RegisterRoutes(ByVal routes As RouteCollection) routes.Ignore("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}") routes.Ignore("{resource}.aspx/{*pathInfo}") routes.MapPageRoute("Default4", "{controller}/{action}/{id}", "~/MVCDir", False, New RouteValueDictionary(New With {.controller = "Home", .action = "Index", .id = Mvc.UrlParameter.Optional})) End Sub * NOTE- If I write routes.ignoreRoute instead of routes,ignore it says- IgnoreRoute is not a member of System.Web.RoutingCollection* I called this routing function inside application_start function now when I run domain.com/home/index How to solve this problem? it says resource not found

    Hello Everybody, I have developed a website using PHP and MYSQL. The website has a commenting system through which registered users of the website can post comments on the feedback posted by different users. When a comment is posted for a feedback an email is sent to the user who posted that feedback notifying him of new comments on his feedback. Now what I want is that a feedback owner should be able to post a new comment in response to that comment by simply replying to the email that has been sent by the website.     OK for the past 10 days I have been trying to figure out where to begin learning website development a dynamic one, So far everyone told me you should start with computer science and I am like What the @#$% how am I suppose to learn computer science without going to school and get a degree but I don't want a degree I just want to learn how to devlope websites. So now I am here and confused about how to put together a website. I get HTML and CSS but still have some problems designing the site now on the other had I am having trouble trying to figure out how php and database mysql is used to put together a website. I have seen videos from lynda.com and still have no Idea after I have watched the video the basic one, one that teach you the Variables, Loops, Strings ext... ok than what happens, how do you build the website with it, that is the question I am real not understand the answer to.     How to find the site performance, there is a tools like YSLOW, Speed traker in google that shows the speed of the website. I have done a php project on LMS with Zend Framework, Everything is in live. When user post contents for a subject that may be size 200K and submitted to the server takes too slow. Sometime server may get DOWN. I login to server(PUTTY) and checked i found that there is more resource occupied in my server. It uses full memory on the server. When i cleared the resource the site loads well. Site is in Dedicated server with 3 more domains with 4GB Ram. Because of this LMS website all the website gets down. I need to check what is wrong in my website. How do i Start?

While compiling the website Compilation errors are occuring i.e Licenses.licx file is not compiling, if it compile than it will reproduces an AppLicenses.dll.   • Would making plain int 64-bit break a lot of reasonable code?

    Until recently, I'd considered the decision by most systems implementors/vendors to keep plain int 32-bit even on 64-bit machines a sort of expedient wart. With modern C99 fixed-size types (int32_t and uint32_t, etc.) the need for there to be a standard integer type of each size 8, 16, 32, and 64 mostly disappears, and it seems like int could just as well be made 64-bit. However, the biggest real consequence of the size of plain int in C comes from the fact that C essentially does not have arithmetic on smaller-than-int types. In particular, if int is larger than 32-bit, the result of any arithmetic on uint32_t values has type signed int, which is rather unsettling. Is this a good reason to keep int permanently fixed at 32-bit on real-world implementations? I'm leaning towards saying yes. It seems to me like there could be a huge class of uses of uint32_t which break when int is larger than 32 bits. Even applying the unary minus or bitwise complement operator becomes dangerous unless you cast back to uint32_t. Of course the same issues apply to uint16_t and uint8_t on current implementations, but everyone seems to be aware of and used to treating them as "smaller-than-int" types.

However, I have been thinking that I'd like to make a version of my library available for Windows desktop developers as well.   • How can I sync a database driven website to a different server

    I have a website using cPanel on a dedicated account, I would like to be able to automatically sync the website to a second hosting company or perhaps to a local (in house ) server. Basically this is a type of replication. The website is database driven (MySQL), so Ideally it would sync everything (content, database, emails etc.) , but most importantly is syncing the website files and its database. I'm not so much looking for a fail-over solution as an automatic replication solution, so if the primary site (Server) goes off-line, I can manually bring up the replicated site quickly. I'm familiar with tools like unison and rsync, but most of these only sync file(s) and do not do too well with open database connections.

There are lots of recommendations of books all around, and that's pretty much covered. I'd like to find the sourcecode of a website. Either a well known, well developed open-source website, or a sample sourcecode of a complete website (maybe one used in a book or something). Everyone says they should find the way they learn better.. Well, that's mine.     I am using wget to mirror website using this code $ wget \ --recursive \ --no-clobber \ --page-requisites \ --html-extension \ --convert-links \ --restrict-file-names=windows \ --domains website.org \ --no-parent \ www.website.org/tutorials/html/ The next time I run it it starts downloading the same files again, however I want only the changed files to be downloaded next time. I am open to use any other tool or script(preferably PHP,Curl) apart from using wget.

    Hi I have a temp website set up in IIS Manager (6) linked to an IP / URL, for example: 1.2.3.4 / www.someUrl.com When that url is accessed, the temp website shows fine. But if someone tries to access any other file within that domain, for example: www.someUrl.com/index.cfm?action=profile then the upgrade website does not display. How do I get it to show for all requests made to the domain www.someUrl.com?? Thanks
