  • Chrome browser completely messing with network?

    I have a bizare problem with Google Chrome on a intel core i5 running windows 7 32bit. Whenever chrome is installed, access to other computers in the home group becomes really slow - such as opening shares. Its becomes really slow to resolve windows names. Something goes hay-wire with the local network - pining local machines which is usually 0mS pings I get random timeouts and random successes. Whenever I try to load a local address inside of chrome (including localhost, 192.168.0.1 etc) - it always says something in the status bar about resolving proxy and times out after about 5 seconds, then seems to work fine. If I go to settings inside of chrome, it just brings up the internet explorer connection settings, where I have not set any proxy settings. One I uninstall chrome, all these problems go away. Network shares and name resolvings work instantly, pings to any machines never have a problem. Localhost and other network IP address work fine in all other browsers. Anyone heard of this problem before and know what it might be? I even tried re-installing winodws 7 and the problem came straight back when chrome was loaded on again.

  • Issue with PHP and osx 10.7 - runs via command line but not in browser

    I recently removed MAMP as I wanted to have more control over my machine and wanted to make use of PHP5.4 I installed using the script located here I cannot now not even get my default PHP that is built in to osx to work. I am running this script with a simple In a document in my ~/Sites directory. I am really at a loss as to why this will not work. I have php5 installed in my /usr/local directory via the link provided above and it seems like the main php is installed in /usr/bin Any and all insight on how to debug this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Is there a browser extension which can copy a webpage snippet/clip/scnapshot to clipboard

    I have to save links to web pages into a google drive document. What I want is to copy simple webpage snippet, similar to the one this G+ extension button does, to clipboard. One picture and page title as a link. I was looking for many days now and I still couldn't find anything which does the same thing. In the end the thing I came up with is to hit the G+ button and copy contents of the popup. I am wondering if anybody knows how can this be done right? Thanks in advance, BR, Yuriy

    I've installed statusnet 0.9.1 on a Windows Server via the WAMP stack and on the whole it seems to be fine. However, when logging in using IE7 or Chrome the browers invoke a file download, i.e. the File Download dialog is displayed.   • Getting PHP to work with apache to run .php files through browser

    I have VPS running Debian 5.0 (I think) and I would like to get it to run PHP files. I was told it needed to be configured with Apache. I tried entering the command apt-get install apache2 php5 libapache2-mod-php5. But there was no change.   • Apache 2.4 and PHP 5.4 getting connection reset errors in the browser

    In the weekend I upgraded my development web server to Apache 2.4 and PHP 5.4. In my web application which was previously working great on Apache 2.2 and PHP 5.3 it now starts getting these messages saying the "connection was reset" in Firefox. See screenshot. I am connecting to the linux machine via local LAN. I'm assuming it might be something to do with the new version of Apache or PHP, or the new LAMP stack which I downloaded from BitNami? It would seem to happen every 5-10 requests and throw this error, perhaps more likely to trigger it is if I send a POST request from a page. Is it timing out the script or something? These are just basic dynamic pages I'm loading and they worked perfectly in Apache 2.2 and PHP5.3. Here are my httpd.conf and PHP.ini if that has any clues. Any ideas? Any help much appreciated.

  • Cant access folder on server- Permission denied

After a clean Modx install I've tried to access http://www.encepence.pl/manager and I've got a permission denied by my server. the thing is that I can easily access any other folder under that domain and modify this folder(manager) content via ftp.   • How can visiting a webpage infect your computer?

    My mother's computer recently became infected with some sort of rootkit. It began when she received an email from a close friend asking her to check out some sort of webpage. I never saw it, but my mother said it was just a blog of some sort, nothing interesting. A few days later, my mother signed in on the PayPal homepage. PayPal gave some sort of security notice which stated that to prevent fraud, they needed some additional personal information. Among some of the more normal information (name, address, etc.), they asked for her SSN and bank PIN! She refused to submit that information and complained to PayPal that they shouldn't ask for it. PayPal said they would never ask for such information and that it wasn't their webpage. There was no such "security notice" when she logged in from a different computer, only from hers. It wasn't a phishing attempt or redirection of some sort, IE clearly showed an SSL connection to https://www.paypal.com/ She remembered that strange email and asked her friend about it - the friend never sent it! Obviously, something on her computer was intercepting the PayPal homepage and that email was the only other strange thing to happen recently. She entrusted me to fix everything. I nuked the computer from orbit since it was the only way to be sure (i.e., reformatted her hard drive and did a clean install). That seemed to work fine. But that got me wondering... my mother didn't download and run anything. There were no weird ActiveX controls running (she's not computer illiterate and knows not to install them), and she only uses webmail (i.e., no Outlook vulnerability). When I think webpages, I think content presentation - JavaScript, HTML, and maybe some Flash. How could that possibly install and execute arbitrary software on your computer? It seems kinda weird/stupid that such vulnerabilities exist.

  • Browser pollution / Pop Up request

    From time to time, when I browse the internet , after entering a site's URL , I get a warning message that a pop up has been blocked , then a question mark and a set of numbers appends itself after the URL. It doesn't matter what site I want to navigate to, it can be a site I have developed, a well know site like drupal.org for instance. Here's what happens: enter url: example.com warning: pop up blocked url change to: example.com/?1347628900 After checking the pop up ( which of course turns out to be an unwanted ad ), i deducted that the request and the pop up were linked. This has never happened to me before, I'm not sure how this got started, how can I get rid of this? Clearing the cache , cookies etc... doesn't solve the issue. I'm using a Macbook Pro OS10.6.7 , Chrome 13.0.782.24 beta. Thanks in advance for any tips!

    I have my Nginx conf set up as follows: server { listen 443 ssl; server_name mydomain.com; ... } When I load https://mydomain.com, the site loads fine. But when I load https://www.mydomain.com, the site loads as well. Why is this happening? I set up the DNS records using Amazon Route 53 as: A mydomain.com xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (IP) CNAME www.mydomain.com mydomain.com So is a request to www.mydomain.com arriving at Nginx as a request to mydomain.com? If so, how do I differentiate requests to www.mydomain.com and mydomain.com at my server?

  • Win-XP Browsers Hang on page load - (waiting for...)

    Hello, I’m having problems with my browsers hanging on loading pages on my desktop machine. I’m using Windows XP Pro with SP3 and fully updated except for IE 8. All three of my browsers, IE 7, Chrome and Firefox are having the same problems. Pages are not being loaded and are hanging on “waiting for …”. The browsers are waiting for the page being loaded or ad servers. Sometimes a page will load but the loading graphic continues to be displayed as if the page were still loading when the page appears to be fully loaded. The problem is bad enough that I can’t really use any of my browsers. I can eventually get most pages to load by stopping and restarting the page load. I have DSL modem with a wireless router and I have been able to eliminate the modem and router from being the source of my problem. My laptop doesn’t have any problems even when hardwired to the router and with the wireless connection disabled. I deleted the NIC and let XP re-install. Also tried a different network cable. Tried the same router port used in the laptop test. One clue that may be important is that I can’t connect to my router using the desktop machine…the page hangs while trying to connect. I can ping the router and I can quickly connect to the router using the laptop. I also can’t use the Windows update process – the page never fully loads. The problem affects other user accounts and even happens in safe mode. I am convinced the problem is with part of the O/S…some layer able to affect all of the browsers. The purpose of this post is to see if anyone has some ideas before I do a XP repair. I have done quite a bit of trouble-shooting: Ran a full anti-virus scan with AVG – no problems. Ran full scans with Spybot, MalwareBytes and Sophos anti-rootkit – no problems. Ran Chkdsk with both options checked. Ran Disk Clean up Defragged RE-installed IE7 Cleared all the browser caches Ran Ccleaner (registry tool) Ran HijackThis – nothing unusual (problem happens in safe mode too) Ran Process Explorer – no unusual processes Used System Restore and fell back several days – no change in the problem Booted to last known good configuration – no change in the problem Ran MicrosoftFixit50199.msi – no change in the problem Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated…I’m not looking forward to doing a repair on XP.   • How to perform "tracert" like operation from browser?

    I'm remotely investigating issue with my friend's WIN XP computer. The browsers (Chrome and IE) won't show any pages but message with err_connection_reset in details. I've tried to perform "telnet google.com 80" and send there "HEAD / HTTP/1.0" from console and everything went fine, but browsers refused to give me anything. I've checked for presence of firewalls and proxy servers in the settings, but nothing seems to be there. What else to check?

  • How to get Gmail/browser to remember login?

    I am using firefox 3.6.22. I have several Gmail accounts. In the past, when I would go to the Gmail login, it would remember all my logins. All I would need to do would be to enter first letter and it would pick up the rest. Now it has stopped doing this. I can still type the whole login (if I remember it) and the password and get in. Why did it lose the ability to remember, and how do I get it back?
