  My internal Windows 2008 AD network is 172.20.xxx.xxx My Apple Wireless base stations only allows DHCP 172.16.xxx.xxx Private IP address ranges: 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255 The problem: The internet works from my IPad that has a 172.16.xxx.xxx address, but I can't access (browse) my tools server that is 172.20.xxx.xxx that host my Filemaker database. Is it possible to add 172.16.xxx.xxx range somewhere in DHCP or DNS on my Windows domain server so I can access tools? Or is there another way to make this connection work? Thanks

• network path not found error on creating schtasks

  I am getting "ERROR: Network path was not found" when I try to create a scheduled task on my local machine. I am using this command at the command prompt: schtasks /tn taskname /tr taskpath /sc minute /mo 20 /sd 09/23/2010 /s \\%computername% /u username /p password When I give the above command without computername, username and password the task gets created perfectly fine. What am I doing wrong?? EDIT : I got it working by using the below command. I do not understand why it is working becuase I am using /ru and /rp which are remote user and remote password settings whereas I am executing the command on my local machine. And I had to give double quotes to computername. schtasks /tn taskname /tr taskpath /sc minute /mo 20 /sd 09/23/2010 /s "%computername%" /ru username /rp password

  I am new to IP v6 and I am looking to translate some existing private IPv4 addresses into v6 address assignment. Can someone please help me to answer/explain the questions below?   Hello, is there a way to separate clients in a subnet so that they cannot reach each other? The infrastructure currently looks like this: 192.168.0.1/24 Gateway, a CentOS box with iptables. 192.168.0.10-20 Some clients which may reach each other 192.168.0.30 A single client which should not be able to reach the hosts 192.168.0.10-20 should be able to reach the gateway and the internet I don't know if it is possible, maybe you could give me your ideas how it could be done. I cannot influence the machine 192.168.0.30 because it is a virtual machine I want to rent to someone. Thanks.

  I have a problem that my server got locked down because it was sending packets to private IPs. My question is, what is the best solution to stop that? • How can I restrict my mates to stop downloading?

  We are sharing an internet broadband connection with 6 users at a place we live. We get 20 gb fup ( Fair usage policy) with 2 mbps speed from the ISP after the 20 gb is consumed the speed comes down to 512 kbps very difficult to browse any page. The problem is we cannot track which user/mate is downloading and ending the FUP. it is very difficult to track so is there something that we can allot per user some amount of space like 2 gb of downloading or restrict all from downloading so that we can utilize all the fup till the end of the month. We are using this connection as wifi configured. A adsl router is configured as wifi and we all using all 6 laptops. No PC. Any help would be appreciated. I apologize if i am not clear with my question.

  Can someone please tell me where NFS logs in centos 6? Or perhaps where I can tell NFS to send logs? At the present time, there appears to be no such setting. Trying to get the thing to work without logs is quite frustrating. • selecting files in windows-7 explorer just by hovering

  One of the biggest annoyances for me of Windows 7 vs Windows XP is that you cant select files properly by hovering over them on Windows Explorer (or multi select by holding ctrl). When i hover an item it gets light blue, not selected. Only after a time or after more hovering, it gets selected. I set the delay (MouseHoverTime) to 1. Windows seems to avoid wrong selection by requiring an additional time or space of mouse hovering before actually selecting the item. I tried playing with the values MouseHoverHeight, MouseHoverWidth, MouseSensitivity, MouseThreshold1 and MouseThreshold2 in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse, but they seem to have no effect over this. (they are currently on (20, 20, 16, 6, 10, respectively). What i want: to immediately select an item whenever the mouse gets over its bounds.

• Spotify stopped scrobbling to libre.fm - unable to login

  I've set Spotify up to scrobble to libre.fm using the hosts file hack, as specified on the wiki, adding these two entries to my hosts file. 149.20.54.250 post.audioscrobbler.com 149.20.54.250 ws.audioscrobbler.com This worked for a while. However, Spotify now tells me that it can't log in to libre.fm. I've double checked my username and password. I haven't changed anything else. Using nslookup confirms that the above names resolve to the correct IPs. So, how do I fix this?

• netgear GS108TV2 RSTP configuration

  I have a large set of GS108TV2 units--my goal is to set up a network which is comprised of several loops for redundancy/fault tolerance. I have a minimal 3 switch loop configured, with RSTP enabled on two ports on each switch. I have my bridge max age set to 6, and my bridge forward delay set to 4, which are the minimum values allowed. Hello time is fixed at 2 seconds. The switches respond to a cable being removed from a socket, but it takes too long. I cannot get the switch to respond to a loss of connection on one of the redundant ports in less than 20 seconds. Is there any way to configure these switches to respond faster than 20 seconds? That is unacceptable for my application. thanks in advance for any help

  OK, this might be a really stupid question, but... I'm building a web app that utilises websockets. There's fairly rapid messaging going on, so I've been taking a look at the network traffic with wireshark, to see if there's any way of reducing the amount of data we are sending over the wire, and hence costs. A typical message has approx 150 byte data payload, and according to wireshark the lower layer stuff takes up about: Ethernet: 14 bytes IP: 20 Bytes TCP: 20 Bytes My question is, are these network headers included in data transfer calculations? What about TCP ACK messages? (another 54 bytes according to wireshark) This may seem petty, but because we have so much messaging going on, and because the payload is a similar size to these headers, it's significant.

What config do I need to change to get apache to follow the symlink instead of downloading it? • Do I really need to reboot for AD changes to be applied?

  Every time I request a permission change the IT group at my company instructs me to wait 20 minutes and reboot the computer. I cannot believe that in this day and age you still need to reboot the computer to clear whatever cache stores the permissions locally. It feels like something out of the NT 4 days. Do you actually still need to reboot the computer? Is a logout/login sufficient? Is there still a long time(20 minutes) for the changes to propagate through the AD tree?

• How do I skip the Keep/Cancel dialog for downloads in Google Chrome?

  This question is specifically for PDF files, because I work with them all day and have to download 20+ at a time. I use an extension called Linkclump which selects all links at one time. Since I disabled the Chrome PDF Viewer, these now automatically download (which I intended). The only problem is I get 20+ dialogs across the bottom of my screen that ask me if I want to Keep or Cancel my downloads. Seriously? I have to click Keep on every single one of them. This did not happen before in Chrome, the change was added a few versions ago I believe. Oh, and I'm using Chrome Dev v14.0.803.0.

• Adding more than 15 digits in excel

  I want to add more than 20 digits in an Excel cell. The current format of the cell is general, it converts the number to an exponential format. I tried with a number format and accounting but when I enter more than 15 digits it gets converted to 0's. Please recommend steps for stopping Excel from converting data to Exponential Format for 20 digits when in the general format. Example: 12345678901234567890 Excel converts it to 1.23457E+19 in general format. with out using ' before value is there any other way to keep value same.

  I have transaction log backup failures randomly. SQL Server Log says 'Memory constraints resulted reduced backup/restore buffer sizes. Proceding with 6 buffers of size 64KB.', and the SQL Server Agent Error Log has quite a few errors like 'Unable to start Job Manager thread for job xxx', '[298] SQLServer Error: 768, Client unable to establish connection [SQLSTATE 08001]', [298] SQLServer Error: 768, SSL Provider: Not enough memory is available to complete this request [SQLSTATE 08001]'. I am really low on the memory? It has total of 32 GB, but I set maximum to 20. Task manager shows it is using 99% of physical memory. Memoryclerk-sqlbufferpool has 32GB for the Virtual Memory Reserved, and 20 GB for the Virtual Memory Committed. From the perfmon, SQLServer:Memory Manager/Total ServerMemory shows 21GB of memory in use, that's what I set the maximum to. I don't where the rest of memory go. Can anyone advice?   With the code below, the control flickers whenever the image is changed for MouseOver/MousePressed? I am using Storyboard and Double animation.The image display is very smooth with WPF Triggers but not with Storyboard.
