• SQL aggregate query question

  Hi, Can anyone help me with a SQL query in Apache Derby SQL to get a "simple" count. Given a table ABC that looks like this... id a b c 1 1 1 1 2 1 1 2 3 2 1 3 4 2 1 1 ** 5 2 1 2 ** ** 6 2 2 1 ** 7 3 1 2 8 3 1 3 9 3 1 1 How can I write a query to get a count of how may distinct values of 'a' have both (b=1 and c=2) AND (b=2 and c=1) to get the correct result of 1. (the two rows marked match the criteria and both have a value of a=2, there is only 1 distinct value of a in this table that match the criteria) The tricky bit is that (b=1 and c=2) AND (b=2 and c=1) are obviously mutually exclusive when applied to a single row. .. so how do I apply that expression across multiple rows of distinct values for a? These queries are wrong but to illustrate what I'm trying to do... "SELECT DISTINCT COUNT(a) WHERE b=1 AND c=2 AND b=2 AND c=1 ..." .. (0) no go as mutually exclusive "SELECT DISTINCT COUNT(a) WHERE b=1 AND c=2 OR b=2 AND c=1 ..." .. (3) gets me the wrong result. • jQuery select by two name roots and perform one of two function depending on which root was selected

  I'm trying to get this code to work in jQuery and I'm trying to make sure that for each iteration of each root element, its alternate root element for that same iteration doesn't contain anything. Otherwise it sets the .val("") property to an empty string. Looking for a simple solution if possible using search, find, or swap. Each matching number is on the same row level and the same iteration count. I have two input types of input text elements with two different root names like so: 1st Root is "rootA" <input type="text" name="rootA1" /> <input type="text" name="rootA2 /> <input type="text" name="rootA3" /> 2nd Root is "rootB" <input type="text" name="rootB1" /> <input type="text" name="rootB2 /> <input type="text" name="rootB3" /> On blur if any of rootA is called call function fnRootA();. On blur if any of rootB is called call function fnRootB();. Again, I'm trying to make sure that for each iteration like 1 that the alternate root doesn't contain anything, else it sets the .val("") property to an empty string of the root being blurred. • cfdiv working in FF and Safari but does not show up in IE

  Within a form I have a button that launches a cfwindow, then presents a search screen for the user to make a selection. Once selection is made, the cfwindow closes and the selected content shows in the main page by being bound to a cfdiv. This all works fine in FF but the cfdiv doesn't show at all in IE. In IE, the cfwindow works, the select works, but then no bound page. I have tried setting bindonload and that made no difference (and I need it to be true if there is content that is pulled in via a query when it loads). All I have been able to find so far regarding this issue is setting bindonload to false and putting the cfdiv outside of the form but that's not possible in my current design. • Custom ADO.NET provider to intercept and modify sql queries.

  Our client has an application that stores blobs in database which has now grown enough to impact the performance of SQL Server. To overcome this issue, we are planning to offload all blobs to file system and leave the path of file in a new column in user table. Like if user has a table docs with columns id, name and content (blob); we would ask him to add a new column 'filepath' in this table. Our client is willing to make this change in this database. But when it comes to changing the sql queries to read and write into this table, they are not ready to accep this. Actually, they don't want any change that results in recompilation and deployment. Now we are planning to write a custom ADO.NET provider that will intercept the select queries add a column 'filepath' at the end of the select statement retieve the result set and modify the 'content' column value based on 'filepath' value Is there any use case that you think will certainly fail with this approach? I know this sounds dirty but do we have a better way?

• How do I cast from int to generic type Integer?

  I'm relatively new to Java and am used to generics in C# so have struggled a bit with this code. Basically I want a generic method for getting a stored Android preference by key and this code, albeit ugly, works for a Boolean but not an Integer, when it blows up with a ClassCastException. • I can't seem to get my grand Total to calculate correctly

  When I run this query below, SELECT clientid, CASE WHEN D.ccode = '-1' Then 'Did Not Show' ELSE D.ccode End ccode, ca, ot, bw, cshT, dc, dte, approv FROM dbo.emC D WHERE year(dte) = year(getdate()) I get the correct results. It is correct result because ccode shows 'Did Not Show' when the value on the db is '-1' However, when I do a UNION ALL so I can get total for each column, I get the results but then 'Did Not Show' is no longer visible when valye for ccode is '-1'. There are over 1000 records with valuye of '-1'. Can someone please help? Here is the entire code with UNION. • Generate unique ID from multiple values with fault tolerance

  Given some values, I'd like to make a (pretty darn) unique result. $unique1 = generate(array('ab034', '981kja7261', '381jkfa0', 'vzcvqdx2993883i3ifja8', '0plnmjfys')); //now $unique1 == "sqef3452y"; I also need something that's pretty close to return the same result. In this case, 20% of the values is missing. $unique2 = generate(array('ab034', '981kja7261', '381jkfa0', 'vzcvqdx2993883i3ifja8')); //also $unique2 == "sqef3452y"; I'm not sure where to begin with such an algorithm but I have some assumptions. I assume that the more values given, the more accurate the resulting ID – in other words, using 20 values is better than 5. I also assume that a confidence factor can be calculated and adjusted. What would be nice to have is a weight factor where one can say 'value 1 is more important than value 3'. This would require a multidimensional array for input instead of one dimension. I just mashed on the keyboard for these values, but in practice they may be short or long alpha numeric values.

Within a form I have multiple fields with the class name .inputField if one of these fields is selected then the div associated with that element should be shown on focus and hidden on blur. However, when I implement the code below on selecting the second element the class is applied to both. • How to re-enable the idle timer in ios once it has been disabled (to allow the display to sleep again)?

  I have figured out how to stop an iOS device from going to sleep (see below), but I am having troubles undoing that setting. According to the Apple Documentation, it should just be changing the value of the idleTimerDisabled property. But when I test this, it does not work. This is how I am initially stopping the device from going to sleep: //need to switch off and on for it to work initially [UIApplication sharedApplication].idleTimerDisabled = NO; [UIApplication sharedApplication].idleTimerDisabled = YES; I would have thought that the following would do the trick: [UIApplication sharedApplication].idleTimerDisabled = NO; From the Apple Documentation: The default value of this property is NO. When most applications have no touches as user input for a short period, the system puts the device into a "sleep” state where the screen dims. This is done for the purposes of conserving power. However, applications that don't have user input except for the accelerometer—games, for instance—can, by setting this property to YES, disable the “idle timer” to avert system sleep. Important: You should set this property only if necessary and should be sure to reset it to NO when the need no longer exists. Most applications should let the system turn off the screen when the idle timer elapses. This includes audio applications. With appropriate use of Audio Session Services, playback and recording proceed uninterrupted when the screen turns off. The only applications that should disable the idle timer are mapping applications, games, or similar programs with sporadic user interaction. Has anyone come across this problem? I am testing on iOS6 and iOS5. Thanks in advance.

  I have an Excel workbook which pulls out data from two other workbooks. Since the data changes hourly there is the possibility that this macro is used more than one time a day for the same data. So I just want to select all previous data to this date period and want to delete them. Later on the data will be copied in anyway. • Any way to define getters for lazy variables in Javascript arrays?

  I'm trying to add elements to an array that are lazy-evaluated. This means that the value for them will not be calculated or known until they are accessed. This is like a previous question I asked but for objects. What I ended up doing for objects was Object.prototype.lazy = function(var_name, value_function) { this.__defineGetter__(var_name, function() { var saved_value = value_function(); this.__defineGetter__(var_name, function() { return saved_value; }); return saved_value; }); } lazy('exampleField', function() { // the code that returns the value I want }); But I haven't figured out a way to do it for real Arrays. Arrays don't have setters like that. You could push a function to an array, but you'd have to call it as a function for it to return the object you really want. What I'm doing right now is I created an object that I treat as an array. Object.prototype.lazy_push = function(value_function) { if(!this.length) this.length = 0; this.lazy(this.length++, value_function); } So what I want to know is, is there a way to do this while still doing it on an array and not a fake array?

• Java for loop with multiple incrementers

  Im writing a program which combines the RGB pixel values for 3 images, e.g. red pixel of image 1, green pixel of image 2 and blue pixel of image 3 and I want to then create a final image of it. Im using the code below, but this seems to be incrementing x2 and x3 whilst x1 is the same, i.e. not giving the right pixel value for same co-ordinate for each image. for (int x = 0; x < image.getWidth(); x++) { for (int x2 = 0; x2 < image2.getWidth(); x2++) { for (int x3 = 0; x3 < image3.getWidth(); x3++) { for (int y = 0; y < image.getHeight(); y++) { for (int y2 = 0; y2 < image2.getHeight(); y2++) { for (int y3 = 0; y3 < image3.getHeight(); y3++) { So I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to iterate through each of the 3 images on the same co-ordinate, so for example read 1, 1 of each image and record the red, green and blue value accordingly. Apologies if it doesnt make complete sense, its a bit hard to explain. I can iterate the values for one image fine but when I add in another, things start to go a bit wrong as obviously its quite a bit more complicated! I was thinking it might be easier to create an array and replace the according values in that just not sure how to do that effectively either. Thanks

  Alright. My app has a text field and next to it are two buttons (Plus button and Equals button). When you press the "Plus" button, it takes the text inside of the textField and adds a "+" to it. Code below: - (IBAction)plusButtonPressed:(id)sender { NSString *plusString = @"+"; NSString *inputString = carbsField.text; NSString *outputString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@%@",inputString,plusString]; NSLog(@"%@",outputString); [carbsField setText:outputString]; } I will eventually make that more intelligent so that I can't put two pluses or whatever. Anyway, then I want the equal button to take whatever is in the textField, which should look something like: "23+54+2.2" and get the sum of those values. I believe I know how to take an Integer and make it a String, but I want to verify it: int *value = 56; NSString *string = @"%d",value; Well, if anyone can show me how to do this, I would be very appreciative. Thanks. EDIT At the moment, I have not tried anything. This is because I do not know where to start. I have an idea of what to do, but I do not know how to execute it. • Fast serialization/deserialization of structs

  I have huge amont of geographic data represented in simple object structure consisting only structs. All of my fields are of value type. public struct Child { readonly float X; readonly float Y; readonly int myField; } public struct Parent { readonly int id; readonly int field1; readonly int field2; readonly Child[] children; } The data is chunked up nicely to small portions of Parent[]-s. Each array contains a few thousands Parent instances. I have way too much data to keep all in memory, so I need to swap these chunks to disk back and forth. (One file would result approx. 2-300KB). What would be the most efficient way of serializing/deserializing the Parent[] to a byte[] for dumpint to disk and reading back? Concerning speed, I am particularly interested in fast deserialization, write speed is not that critical. Would simple BinarySerializer good enough? Or should I hack around with StructLayout (see accepted answer)? I am not sure if that would work with array field of Parent.children. UPDATE: Response to comments - Yes, the objects are immutable (code updated) and indeed the children field is not value type. 300KB sounds not much but I have zillions of files like that, so speed does matter.

• How do I access a <form> that is not the master page <form>?

  Winforms developer converting to web developer. I know the part about the Master Page having the tag, what is not clear is if I can or can not have another in one of my content pages. I have been seeing both answers doing searches. I see yes you can if only one has runat=server. The thing is I have a that contains several radio buttons on a web page that has a master page. I have a .js file that has a function if I send the name into it, it will loop thru the controls in the form to see which one is selected and return the desired date horizon(MTD, QTD, YTD, etc.). When I run this on a non master page web page it works fine. However, when I run on a web page that has a master page I can't seem to get to the element. I tried getElementByID, I tried looping through the page elements, etc. Maybe I am going about this incorrectly and I hope someone can straighten me out. Here is the code from my .js file that may help explain what I am trying to do a little better. var frmDateRanges = document.getElementById(formFieldName); var chosen; var len = frmDateRanges.DateRanges.length; for(i=0;i<len;i++) { if(frmDateRanges.DateRanges[i].checked) { chosen = frmDateRanges.DateRanges[i].value; } } where formFieldName is an arguement that is passed into the function and DateRanges is the name value given to the radio buttons. In the button I call this function I have: onclick ="FunctionCall('frmDateRanges')" FunctionCall is just for description purposes, 'frmDateRanges' is the name and id given to the form action="" Thanks for the help as I am stumped at this point. If there is a better way to do this please let me know that as well.

I am able to return the first value that matches the variable @PERSON but only one row is returned each time. Any help would be much appreciated.
