• Posting XML form data to a RESTful Server with Javascript or PHP

  Hi folks, I've been given the task of posting to a RESTful server. I'm new to the official "REST" but I've played with the concept before. However, this time I have an XML Payload example file that I am supposed to post. I'm struggling to figure out how the two relate. Can you help? Right now I can post to a specific site, say www.pcpost.com/schema/Application I can generate the URL for the inital, ie: postApplication?userid=4&... Being relatively new to web programming, I find that don't know how to take the following and interface it with the server. I'm at least familiar with Javascript and PHP. If this is impossible with those two types, I can learn whatever would be best. Thanks for your help on this. • NHibernate + Remoting = ReflectionPermission Exception

  Hi all, We are dealing with a problem when using NHibernate with Remoting in a machine with full trust enviroment (actually that's our dev machine). The problem happens when whe try to send as a parameter an object previously retrieved from the server, that contains a NHibernate Proxy in one of the properties (a lazy one). As we are in the dev machine, there's no restriction in the trust level of the web app (it's set to Full) and, as a plus, we've configured NHibernate's and Castle's assemblies to full trust in CAS (even thinking that it'd not be necessary as the remoting app in IIS has the full trust level). Does anyone have any idea of what can be causing this exception? Stack trace below. • Headless, scriptable Firefox/Webkit on linux?

  I'm looking to automate some web interactions, namely periodic download of files from a secure website. This basically involves entering my username/password and navigating to the appropriate URL. I tried simple scripting in Python, followed by more sophisticated scripting, only to discover this particular website is using some obnoxious javascript and flash based mechanism for login, rendering my methods useless. I then tried HTMLUnit, but that doesn't seem to want to work either. I suspect use of Flash is the issue. I don't really want to think about it any more, so I'm leaning towards scripting an actual browser to log in and grab the file I need. Requirements are: Run on linux server (ie. no X running). If I really need to have X I can make that happen, but I won't be happy. Be reliable. I want to start this thing and never think about it again. Be scriptable. Nothing too sophisticated, but I should be able to tell the browser the various steps to take and pages to visit. Are there any good toolkits for a headless, X-less scriptable browser? Have you tried something like this and if so do you have any words of wisdom?

Instead, I want to create the grid dynamically. However, it does appear that at the point of creation the values of theStore and layout are correct. Suggestions please, or indeed a working example of a programmic grid might solve the problem.

This pretty hard to explain please follow the example below. For example. domain111.com and domain222.com. When I am on domain111.com i click on the popup link , it will pop-up the domain111.com/popup.html then it redirect me to domain222.com. On this domain222.com it will redirect to couple pages before it redirect back to domain111.com with the result. I want to send the result from domain111.com to domain111.com.   I have a Media Temple DV server hosting dev.example.com with django mounted at /. There is a legacy directory in my httpdocs I need to continue to serve at /legacy. But for this directory I need to redirect anyone coming over http over to https, then prompt for http basic auth. In the virtual host conf, I'm pointing the root to a django application: WSGIScriptAlias / /var/django-projects/myproject/apache/django.wsgi <Directory /var/django-projects/myproject/apache> Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> Then I alias the legacy directory. Alias /legacy/ /var/www/vhosts/example.com/subdomains/dev/httpdocs/legacy/ <Directory /var/www/vhosts/example.com/subdomains/dev/httpdocs> Order deny,allow Allow from all RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80 RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://dev.example.com/$1 [R,L] </Directory> This works. It isn't served by django, and the url redirects to https. However, it serves httpdocs/legacy instead of httpsdocs/legacy (where I have an .htaccess that prompts for auth.) Any idea of how I can manage this?

• Changing customErrors in web.config semi-dynamically

  The basic idea is we have a test enviroment which mimics Production so customErrors="RemoteOnly". We just built a test harness that runs against the Test enviroment and detects breaks. We would like it to be able to pull back the detailed error. But we don't want to turn customErrors="On" because then it doesn't mimic Production. I've looked around and thought a lot, and everything I've come up with isn't possible. Am I wrong about any of these points? We can't turn customErrors on at runtime because when you call configuration.Save() - it writes the web.config to disk and now it's Off for every request. We can't symlink the files into a new top level directory with it's own web.config because we're on windows and subversion on windows doesn't do symlinks. We can't use URL-Mapping to make an empty folder dir2 with its own web.config and make the files in dir1 appear to be in dir2 - the web.config doesn't apply We can't copy all the aspx files into dir2 with it's own web.config because none of the links would be consistent and it's a horrible hacky solution. We can't change customErrors in web.config based on hostname (e.g. add another dns entry to the test server) because it's not possible/supported We can't do any virtual directory shenanigans to make it work. If I'm not, is there a way to accomplish what I'm trying to do? Turn on customErrors site-wide under certain circumstances (dns name or even a querystring value)?

  How would I design an API to hide the asynchronous nature of AJAX and HTTP requests, or basically delay it to provide a fluid interface. I am guessing that a well designed API like this should work like a query builder (think ORMs) where each function call builds the query (HTTP URL in this case), until it hits a looping function such as each/map/etc., the HTTP call is made and the passed in function becomes the callback. An easy development route would be to make each AJAX call synchronous, but that's probably not the best solution. I am interested in figuring out a way to make it asynchronous, and still hide the asynchronous nature of AJAX.

I made a maven multi module project with the following modules: /api /domain /repositories /webapp I like to share the domain and the repositories between the api and the webapp (both web projects). • Use $_FILES on a page called by .ajax

  I have two .php pages that I'm working with. Index.php has a file upload form that posts back to index.php. I can access the $_FILES no problem on index.php after submitting the form. My issue is that I want (after the form submit and the page loads) to use .ajax (jQuery) to call another .php file so that file can open and process some of the rows and return the results to ajax. The ajax then displays the results and recursively calls itself to process the next batch of rows. Basically I want to process (put in the DB etc) the csv in chunks and display it for the user in between chunks. Im doing it this way because the files are 400,000+ rows and the user doesnt want to wait the 10+ min for them all to be processed. I dont want to move this file (save it) because I just need to process it and throw it away and if a user closes the page while its processing the file wont be thrown away. I could cron script it but I dont want to. What I would really like to do is pass the (single) $_FILES through .ajax OR Save it in a $_POST or $_SESSION to use on the second page. Is there any hope for my cause? • web browser become slow or no response after several ajax calls

  I'm totally newbie to jquery and ajax, my recently project is to help the representatives (reps) to manage customer quotations online. I have a page which displays all the quotations in a big table. I've managed to use ajax to fetch and display the quotations which associate to a particular rep after i click that rep's name. But the only problem is the speed of response. The first few clicks are ok and very smooth. But after several tries, the response become slow and I cant even scroll down the webpage, and later on the web browser craches.... • Firefox: Can I use a relative path in the BASE tag?

  I have a little web project where I have many pages and an index/ToC file. The toc file is at the root of my project in toc.html. The pages are spread over a couple of subdirectories and include the toc with an iframe. The project doesn't need a web server, so I can create the HTML in a directory and browse it in my browser. The problem is that I'm running into XSS issues when JavaScript from the toc.html wants to call a function in a page (violation of the same origin policy). So I added base tags in the header with a relative URL to the directory in which toc.html. This works for Konqueror but in Firefox, I have to use absolute paths or the toc won't even display :( Here is an example: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8' ?> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <base href="../" target="_top" /> <title>Project 1</title> </head> <body> <iframe class="toc" frameborder="0" src="toc.html"> </iframe> </body> </html> This is file is in a subdirectory page. Firefox won't even load it, saying that it can't find page/toc.html. Is there a workaround? I would really like to avoid absolute paths in my export to keep it the same everywhere (locally and when I upload it on the web server later).

• Grails 1.2.0 not finding plugins in the default repository.

  I do not know what changed in my environment, but all of a sudden I can not pull any plugins from the default repository. I went through the _*.groovy scripts and nothing has changed in my grails home directory and it appears that the default repository url is set correctly (DEFAULT_PLUGIN_DIST = "http://plugins.grails.org"). I am assuming it is an environment setting that changed on me, because if I switch to an old version of grails that I have installed, 1.1.1 for example, list-plugins is returning a full list of plugins. When I run grails list-plugins in my current 1.2.0 environment I get the following output: Welcome to Grails 1.2.0 - http://grails.org/ Licensed under Apache Standard License 2.0 Grails home is set to: /opt/grails-1.2.0 Base Directory: /Users/padraic/Projects/TestApplicationMachine Resolving dependencies...
