• mySQL ORDER BY ASC works, DESC does not...

  I've "integrated" SMF into Wordpress by querying the forum for a list of the most recent videos from a specific forum board and displaying them on the Wordpress homepage. However when I add the ORDER BY clause, the query (which I tested on other parts of the same page successfully), breaks. To add to the mix, I am using the Auto Embed plugin to allow the videos to be played on the homepage, as well as using a jCarousel feature to rotate them. People were kind enough to help me here last time with the regexp to filter the video urls, I'm hoping for the same luck this time! • weird problem with load () or live () !!

  I load a page with load () and then I create dinamically a tag. Then I use live() to bind a click event and fires a function. At the end a call unload (). The problem is that when I load the same page again ( without refresh ) when on click the function will be fired twice. If I exit again (again with unload ()) and load the page again on click will fire 3 times and so on .... A sample of my code is: $('#tab').click(function() { $('#formWrap').load('newPage.php'); }); $('div').after('<p class="ctr" ></p>'); $('p.ctr').live('click', function(e) { if($(e.target).is('[k=lf]')) { console.log ('one'); delete ($this); } else if .... }); function delete () { $.post( 'update.php', data); } I have other $.post inside on this page and also on the above live fnc and all work well. The above one also works but like I said on the second load will fire twice and the 3 times and so on ... The weird part for me is that if replece the console with console.log ('two'); save the page and load the page without refresh it will fire on a different rows - one two - if I unload the page replace the console with console.log ('three'); and load again will fire one two and three. I try to use: $.ajax({ url: 'updateDB.php', data: data, type: 'POST', cache:false }); $.ajaxSetup ({ cache: false }); header("Cache-Control: no-cache"); none of this it's working. And I have this problem only on this fnc. What do you think, it could be the reason, it remembers it remembers the previous action and it fires again?

• Pros and cons of MPMoviePlayerController versus launching UIWebView to stream movie

  I have a client who has video content for the web in Flash format. My task is to help them show the videos in an iPhone app. I realize that step one is to get these videos into the appropriate Quicktime format for the iPhone. Then I'm going to have to help the client figure out how or where to host these files. If that's tricky I assume they can be hosted at YouTube. My chief concern, though, is which approach to take to stream the video. What are the pros and cons of MPMoviePlayerController versus launching UIWebView with the URL of the stream? Is there any difference? Is one of them more or less forgiving? Is one of them a better user experience? Any gotchas I might expect to run into? I'm assuming playing video is pretty easy on the iPhone. Is it reasonable to try both and have one available as a fallback, or would that be a waste of time? I'm trying to schedule this out a bit, so I'd love to hear real-world experiences from anyone who's done this.

• Hybrid EAV/CR model via WCF (and statically-typed language)?

  Background I'm working on the architecture for a cloud-based LOB application, using Silverlight for the client, WCF, ASP.NET/C# for server and SQL Server for storage. The data model requires some flexibility per user (ability to add custom properties and define validation rules for them, for example), and a hybrid EAV/CR persistence model on the server side will suit nicely. Problem I need an efficient and maintainable technology and approach to handle the transformation from the persisted EAV model to/from WCF (and similarly allow the client to bind to the resulting data - DataGrid is a key UI element)? Admission: I don't yet know enough about WCF to understand if it supports ExpandoObject directly, but I suspect it will. Options I started off looking at WCF RIA services, but quickly discovered they're heavily dependent upon both static type data and compile-time code generation. Neither of these appeal. The options I'm considering include: Using WCF RIA services and pass the data over the network directly in EAV form (i.e. Dictionary), and handle the binding issue purely on the client side (like this) Using a dynamic language (probably IronPython) to handle both ends of the communication, with plumbing to generate the necessary CLR type data on the client to allow binding, and transform to/from EAV form on the server (spam preventer stopped me from posting a URL here, I'll try it in a comment). Dynamic LINQ (CreateClass() and friends), although I'm way out of my depth there and don't know what the limitations on that approach might be yet. I'm interested in comments on these approaches as well as alternative approaches that might solve the problem. Other Notes The Silverlight client will not be the only consumer of the service, making me slightly uncomfortable with option #1 above. While the data model is flexible, it's not expected to be modified heavily. For argument's sake, we could assume that we might have 25 distinct data models active at a given time, with something like 10-20 unique data fields/rules each. Modifications to the data model will happen infrequently (typically when a new user is initially configured).

  I'm currently working with the SoundCloud API and would like to have a track embed when a button is clicked. I get two errors: XMLHttpRequest cannot load http://soundcloud.com/oembed.json?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F48419073. Origin null is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin. • Steps to Investigate Cause of Web.Config Duplicate Section

  Symptoms In IIS Dot Net 2.0 Integrated app pool: double clicking to view any web.config section results in a the following error dialog. "There was an error while performing this operation.... Fielname... web.config... Error: There is a duplicate..." Browsing to the URL displays: "Http 500.19" internal server error.. There is a duplicate... 'system.web.extensions/scripting/scriptResourceHandler' section defined...." Running the app from VS 2008 an "Unable to start debugging on the web server..." dialog is displayed. Things Tried Looked at other application directories on same IIS server. No problem view web.config contents or serving up the app. Removed and re-added the application in IIS. Checked out a new version of the source code. Reverted to prior versions of the web.config file. Looked for web.config files that might have duplicate sections in: Inetpub root. "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG\machine.config" The "Views" subfolder of the ASP.Net MVC app. Checked out source code to another dev machine. Setup IIS 7 app folder. No problem with Web.config. Question If the reason for this error is another web.config file where else should I look? Are there other reasons for these symptoms?

• Trying to return data asynchronously using jQuery AND jSon in MVC 2.0

  Hi, I am trying to use Jquerys getJSON method to return data server side to my browser, what happens is the url the getJSON method points to does get reached but upon the postback the result does not get returned to the browser for some odd reason. • Performing text processing on flatpage content to include handling of custom tag

  Hi. I'm using flatpages app in my project to manage some html content. That content will include images, so I've made a ContentImage model allowing user to upload images using admin panel. The user should then be able to include those images in content of the flatpages. He can of course do that by manually typing image url into <img> tag, but that's not what I'm looking for. To make including images more convenient, I'm thinking about something like this: User edits an additional, let's say pre_content field of CustomFlatPage model (I'm using custom flatpage model already) instead of defining <img> tags directly, he uses a custom tag, something like [img=...] where ... is name of the ContentImage instance now the hardest part: before CustomFlatPage is saved, pre_content field is checked for all [img=...] occurences and they are processed like this: ContentImage model is searched if there's image instance with given name and if so, [img=...] is replaced with proper <img> tag. flatpage actual content is filled with processed pre_content and then flatpage is saved (pre_content is leaved unchanged, as edited by user) The part that I can't cope with is text processing. Should I use regular expressions? Apparently they can be slow for large strings. And how to organize logic? I assume it's rather algorithmic question, but I'm not familliar with text processing in Python enough, to do it myself. Can somebody give me any clues?

• setting up 301 redirects: dynamic urls to static urls

  We are currently using a template-based website and are hoping to move to a site with static urls. Our domain will stay the same. I understand that using 301 redirects in a .htaccess file is the preferred method -- and the one that has the highest chance of preserving our google rankings. I am still new at all this and am having a hard time figuring out the proper way to code it all. Over a hundred of our pages are indexed. They all have a similar URL but with different pageIDs: http://www.realestate-bigbear.com/Nav.aspx/Page=%2fPageManager%2fDefault.aspx%2fPageID%3d2020765 Some link out to provided content, ex. /RealEstateNews/Default.aspx Then there are many that flow from the main featured listings page: /ListNow/Default.aspx Down to all the specific properties.. where the PropertyId changes /ListNow/Property.aspx?PropertyID=2048098 would a simple set of codes work... like the following.... redirect 301 /Nav.aspx/Page=%2fPageManager%2fDefault.aspx%2fPageID%3d2020765 www.realestate.bigbear.com/SearchBigBearMLS.htm or do I need to do something entirely different?

• Use the output of logs in the execution of a program

  When I try to create a specific object, the program crashes. However, I use a module (mechanize) which logs useful information just before the crash. If I had somehow this information available I could avoid it. Is there any way to use the information which is logged (when I use the function set_debug_redirects) during the normal execution of the program? Just to be a bit more specific, I try to emulate the login behavior in a webpage. The program crashes because it can't handle a specific Following HTTP-EQUIV=REFRESH to <omitted_url>. Given this url, which is available in the logs but not as part of the exception which is thrown, I could visit this page and complete successfully the login process. Any other suggestions that may solve the problem are welcomed. It follows the code so far. • Getting an "i" from GEvent

  Hello, I'm trying to add an event listener to each icon on the map when it's pressed. I have no problem of showing multiple auto completes but problem comes when one selects options from auto complete. I have seen that autocompet.js uses id toValues to show selected option from autocomlte. So if there is only one autocomplete on one form then we can have one element as toValues to show the selected value. But if we have multiple auto completes then how to show the selected item of each auto complete as separately? I was asked to built a web portal/blog that looks like http://iwannabemom.com/(they use wordpress) the reason i am using joomla because i have some components that i need to implement on joomla instead of using wordpress. what is the components for (joomla 1.5): 1. top news (can be scrolled). I know there are Gavick, it is good ... but I need second options for that 2. thumbnail image for each articles. Joomla has no thumbnail for article modules .. sad :( 3. comment system. should I use Disqus (disqus.com) or using jomcomment. About Disqus, is it good and reliable services ? 4. It just adds http://example.com/index.html#ui-tabs-[object Object] to the url. I am developing a wordpress plugin and the admin page needs a tab interface. I tested this in a local server and not working update: i don't want to load google.com inside the page. It should open the webpage in new tab/window like ordinary links do.

• Error getting twitter request token using OAuth and PEAR Services_Twitter

  Hello, I am moving from the basic authentication method using username and password to the OAuth based authentication. I was using an old version of the pear package Services_Twitter, that did not support OAuth. The latest version of this package supports OAuth authentications, it has a few dependencies (HTTP_Request2, HTTP_OAuth). It was very simple to install them and upgrade the package. I did all this my local machine and had no trouble getting the authentication up and running. I committed this code to the test site, but every time the code request a "request token" I get the following error message "Unable to connect to ssl://api.twitter.com:443. Error #0" I have spend 6 hours making sure that all the pear packages where up to date, checking the customer token and token secret, making sure port 443 is not closed... in addition to various other test. I have exhausted my resources and I come to you in hope to find some answers. Thank you PD: One of the things I do not understand is why does the message says that the url is ssl://api.twitter.com:443 rather than https://api.twitter.com/request_token? the former one is the one I am using to get the request token.

• jQuery server ping slowly but surely filling memory?

  I use the following piece of code to test if our server is running whilst the user is in a page. I've also started adding other functions that grab small amounts of data that are constantly changing and are to be relayed to the user (Files waiting for download, messages, reports etc). I've noticed recently that if I leave any page open (all pages contain the same function), the browser takes up more and more system memory which I can only attribute to this regular task (overnight it reached 1.6 gb). Is there some way of clearing out the data that is being accumulated? Is this normal behaviour?   Hi All, I have seen a few posts regarding this issue but not one specific to my problem and I have no ideas as to what I need to do to debug this. I have some combo boxes on an aspx pages, when I select a value from the first one, it fills the second with value and so on with the third and fourth. This works with no problems until I wrap an asp.net UpdatePanel around the combo boxes and try to "ajaxify" the whole process so the page isn't dancing around. The exact error I get is: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occurred while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 404 Some things to note: I am using URL rewriting - This is what I think is causing the problem The error will occur whenever I choose a selection for a SECOND time. This means that I could select a value from the first combo box and get the same error (so it is happening on the second postback - No matter which combo box it's from). I have tried setting the EnablePartialRendering="false" on teh scriptmanager but as I said, it works when not using ajax, so I don't know how to debug the issue. My server is Windows 2008 running IIS& with ASP.NET 2.0. I would really appreciate your help Thanks in advance.

  I have been using Windows 7 for a while but have not had to work with a particular legacy intranet application since my upgrade. Unfortunately, this application is setup as an ASP.NET Website project hosted on a remote server. When I have the website open in Visual Studio 2008 and try to debug it: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission' failed To resolve this issue on Windows Vista machines I would change the machine's .NET Security Configuration to trust the local intranet. I believe this configuration utility relied upon the mscorcfg.msc which from some cursory research appears to be apart of the .NET 2.0 SDK. I have tried to follow the instructions from this Microsoft Support article running the command below to no avail.   In the 1.6 API, is there a way to ensure that the onStart() method of a Service is called after the service is killed due to memory pressure? From the logs, it seems that the "process" that the service belongs to is restarted, but the service itself is not. I have placed a Log.d() call in the onStart() method, and this is not reached. To test my service under memory pressure, I spawn it from an activity, then launch the web browser and visit some Javascript-heavy websites like Slashdot until my service is killed.
