  Hello folks, I've got the issue to add a browser event to some input fields. The challenge I have to face is, that one parameter of my target function is the 'event'-variable and the second one an object.   Hello all, iam stuck now, i really hope if somebody can tell me the problems what i really don't see. The problem is is the menubar works great in Safari,FF,Chrome. But when i open IE8 its so slow when i put my mouse cursor on another menu area. • Trying to instantiate a class member in C++ with a variable name

  Hello. I am writing a program for class that is asking us to create a class of "book". We are then supposed to create new instantiations of that class upon demand from the user. I am new to C++ so I am attempting to code this out but am running into a problem. The main problem is how do I instantiate a class with a variable if I don't know how many I will have to do ahead of time. The user could ask to add 1 book or 1000. I am looking at this basic code: This is the simple code I started with. I wanted to have an index int keep a number and have the book class I create be called by that int (0, 1, 2, etc...) So I attempted to convert the incoming index int into a string, but I'm kind of stuck from here. void addBook(int index){ string bookName; std::stringstream ss; ss << index; book bookName; cout << "Enter the Books Title: "; cin >> bookName.title; } But obviously this doesn't work as "bookName" is a string to the computer and not the class member I tried to create. All of the tutorials I have seen online and in my text show the classes being instantiated with names in the code, but I just don't know how to make it variable so I can create any amount of "books" that the user might want. • C# Generic Generics (A Serious Question)

  In C# I am trying to write code where I would be creating a Func delegate which is in itself generic. For example the following (non-Generic) delegate is returning an arbitrary string: Func<string> getString = () => "Hello!"; I on the other hand want to create a generic which acts similarly to generic methods. For example if I want a generic Func to return default(T) for a type T. I would imagine that I write code as follows: Func<T><T> getDefaultObject = <T>() => default(T); Then I would use it as getDefaultObject<string>() which would return null and if I were to write getDefaultObject<int>() would return 0. This question is not merely an academic excercise. I have found numerous places where I could have used this but I cannot get the syntax right. Is this possible? Are there any libraries which provide this sort of functionality?

  Hello, I am really trying to follow the DRY principle. I have a sub that looks like this? For the record, ItemSummaries and NumberedInventories are both derived from the same base class DataBuilderBase. I can't figure out the syntax that will allow me to do ItemSumms.FillRows and numInvs.FillRows in the method. FillRows is declared as Public Overridable Sub FillRows in the base class. • encrypting passwords in a python conf file on a windows platform

  Hello all. I have a script running on a remote machine. db info is stored in a configuration file. I want to be able to encrypt the password in the conf text so that no one can just read the file and gain access to the database. This is my current set up: My conf file sensitive info is encoded with base64 module. The main script then decodes the info. I have compiled the script using py2exe to make it a bit harder to see the code. My question is: Is there a better way of doing this? I know that base64 is not a very safe way of encrypting. Is there a way to encode using a key? I also know that py2exe can be reversed engineered very easily and the key could be found. Any other thoughts? I am also running this script on a windows machine, so any modules that are suggested should be able to run in a windows environment with ease. I know there are several other posts on this topic but I have not found one with a windows solution, or at least one that is will explained.

• jquery .animate - image gets cropped during animation

  Hello all, I am currently programming a carousel with javascript using the jquery library. Basically, there are three images shown, the central image being bigger than the two others. Upon going left or right, the central images is resized from 115px*115px to 50px*50px and tossed left or right, depending on the user input.   In python, I can alter the state of an instance by directly assigning to attributes, or by making method calls which alter the state of the attributes: foo.thing = 'baz' or: foo.thing('baz') Is there a nice way to create a class which would accept both of the above forms which scales to large numbers of attributes that behave this way? (Shortly, I'll show an example of an implementation that I don't particularly like.) If you're thinking that this is a stupid API, let me know, but perhaps a more concrete example is in order. Say I have a Document class. Document could have an attribute title. However, title may want to have some state as well (font,fontsize,justification,...), but the average user might be happy enough just setting the title to a string and being done with it ... • saving mySql row checkpoint in table ?

  hello, I am having a wee problem, and I am sure there is a more convenient/simpler way to achieve the solution, but all searches are throw in up a blanks at the moment ! I have a mysql db that is regularly updated by php page [ via a cron job ] this adds or deletes entries as appropriate. My issue is that I also need to check if any details [ie the phone number or similar] for the entry have changed, but doing this at every call is not possible [ not only does is seem to me to be overkill, but I am restricted by a 3rd party api call limit] Plus this is not critical info. So I was thinking it might be best to just check one entry per page call, and iterate through the rows/entires with each successive page call. What would be the best way of doing this, ie keeping track of which entry/row in the table that the should be checked next? I have 2 ideas of how to implement this: 1 ) The id of current row could be save to a file on the server [ surely not the best way] 2) an extra boolean field [check] is add to the table, set to True on the first entry and false to all other. Then on each page call it; finds 'where check = TRUE' runs the update check on this row, 'set check = FALSE' 'set [the next row] check = TRUE' Si this the best way to do this, or does anyone have any better sugestion ? thanks in advance ! .k PS sorry about the title

• Serial Data Not Transmitted in C# Application

  Hello. I have a C# application wherein serial (COM1) data appears to sometimes not get transmitted. Following is a simplified snippet of my code (calls to textBox writes have been removed): try { serialPort1.Write("D"); serialPort1.Write(msg, 0, 512); serialPort1.Write("d"); serialPort1.Write(pCsum, 0, 2); } catch (SystemException ex) { /* ... */ } What is odd is that this same code works just fine when the port is configured for 115.2Kbps. However, when running at 9600bps data that should be transmitted by this code seems to not get transmitted. I have verified this by monitoring the receive flag on the remote device. No exceptions are thrown from within the try statement. Is there something else (Flush, etc.) that I should be doing to make sure the data is transmitted? Any thoughts or suggestions you may have would be appreciated. I'm using Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition. Thanks.

But I got error like cc: argument to '-o' is missing What's the problem? If I use make, then I still got error No targets specified and no makefiles found. Finally, if the above problem is fixed, how could I define a custom hotkey for compile? I have already know how to do something like global-set-key [f8] 'goto-line But I don't know to set a hotkey for an action only for c-mode.

• Configuring WPA WiFi in Ubuntu 10.10

  Hello, I am trying to configure my wireless network on my laptop running Ubuntu 10.10 and am having a bit of difficulty. I am a complete Linux newb, but want to learn it, hence the reason I'm trying to set this up. Here's the vitals: It is a Gateway 600 YG2 laptop. It was previously running Windows XP, but I installed Ubuntu 10.10 in place of it (not a dual boot, I removed XP altogether). I have an old wireless card that I'm trying to resurrect. I haven't really used the card in a couple years, but it seems to still work, I just can't connect to my home's wireless network. The card is a Linksys WPC11 v2.5. When I plug it in, Ubuntu recognizes the network, but won't connect to it. My home network uses WPA encryption and the only connection type that Ubuntu's network manager is giving me is WEP and then it asks for a key -- I have no idea what that key should be. So, basically, I'm asking, is there a way I can instead connect through WPA? I've tried creating a new connection in network manager, but that won't work, it keeps falling back to the WEP connection and asking me for a key. I have tried to install the XP driver using ndiswrapper but I don't know if that's working or not. Is there a way to tell if: A) the card is working as it should B) the correct drivers are installed (again, I installed the XP one using ndiswrapper NET8180.INF, but I'm not sure what to do next) Any help would be appreciated.   hello, I am creating a Chat in java. I have a method (onMouseRelease) inside an object that creates a tcp server and waits for a socket like this: ServerSocket server = new ServerSocket(port); Socket channel = server.accept(); Now I want to make a thread that will loop and read data from the socket, so that once the user on the other side sends me a string, I will extract the data from the socket (or is it called packet? Sorry, I am new to this) and update a textbox to add the additional string from the socket (or packet?). I have no idea how to READ (extract) the information from the socket(/packet) and then update it into a JTextArea which is called userOutput. And how to send a string to the other client, so that it will also could read the new data and update its JTextArea. From what I know, for a 2 sided TCP communication you need one computer to host a server and the other to connect (as a client) and once the connection is set the client can also receive new information from the socket. Is that true? and please tell me how. Any help is appreciated! I know this is a bit long but I have searched a lot and didn't understand it (I saw something like PrintWriter but failed to understand).

• PHP login, getting wrong count value from query / fetch array

  Hello, *EDIT*Thanks to the comments below it has been figured out that the problem lies with the md5, without everything works as it should. But how do i implent the md5 then? I am having some troubles with the following code below to login. The database and register system are already working. The problem lies that it does not find any result at all in the query. IF the count is 0 it should redirect the user to a secured page. But this only works if i write count = 0, but this should be 0 , only if the user name and password is found he should be directed to the secure (startpage) of the site after login.   Hello, I have a posting form at my theme. I used wp_insert_post there. But when it's inserted to the database, at the GUID field, the entry format is like this permalinks_structure/id. So if my permalinks_structure is like /category/id , it become like http://www.example.com/uncategorized/1. So the problem is, if i post through wordpress admin panel, GUID of the post is http://www.example.com?p=1 . So my post database GUID become mess, because if i want to change permalinks_structure , the post which becomes from outside form will follow the structure. What I want to do is, I want to get the GUID like that I posted through admin panel which is http://www.example.com?p=1 How can i do it ? Please point me out. Thank you.

  Hello all, I have an XNA question for those with more experience in these matters than myself (maths). Background: I have a game that implements a boundary class, this simply hosts 2 Vector2 objects, a start and an end point. The current implementation crudely handles collision detection by assuming boundaries are always vertical or horizontal, i.e. if start.x and end.x are the same check I am not trying to pass x etc. Ideally what I would like to implement is a method that accepts two Vector2 parameters. The first being a current location, the second being a requested location (where I would like to move it to assuming no objections). The method would also accept a boundary object. What the method should then do is tell me if I am going to cross the boundry in this move. this could be a bool or ideally something representing how far I can actually move. So the question is what would be the proper way to chance my username and password through the objects interface and then call twitterDisplay() method with the new data?Hope that makes sense.   Hello I have an array that looks like this, Array ( [cfi_title] => Mr [cfi_firstname] => Firstname [cfi_surname] => Lastname [cfi_email] => [email protected] [cfi_subscribe_promotional] => [cfi_tnc] => [friendsName] => Array ( [0] => Firstname 1 [1] => Firstname 2 [2] => Firstname 3 ) [friendsEmail] => Array ( [0] => [email protected] [1] => [email protected] [2] => [email protected] ) [submit_form] => Submit ) My dilema is I need to save the values from the friendsName and friendsEmail arrays into a database, I know I can loop through them but how can I send the matching data, for example I need to save [friendsName][0] and friendsEmail][0] on the same row of database? I know I need to use a foreach but I just cannot figure out the logic.

  Hello, I have stored procedure in which I am trying to retrieve the last ticket completed by each user listed in a comma-delimited string of usernames. The user may not have a ticket associated with them, in this case I know that i just need to return null. The two tables that I am working with are defined as follows: User ---- UserName, FirstName, LastName Ticket ------ ID, CompletionDateTime, AssignedTo, AssignmentDate, StatusID TicketStatus ------------ ID, Comments I have created a stored procedure in which I am trying to return the last completed ticket for a comma-delimited list of usernames. Each record needs to include the comments associated with it. Currently, I'm trying the following: CREATE TABLE #Tickets ( [UserName] nvarchar(256), [FirstName] nvarchar(256), [LastName] nvarchar(256), [TicketID] int, [DateCompleted] datetime, [Comments] text ) -- This variable is actually passed into the procedure DECLARE @userList NVARCHAR(max) SET @userList='user1,user2,user2' -- Obtain the user information for each user INSERT INTO #Tickets ( [UserName], [FirstName], [LastName] ) SELECT u.[UserName], u.[FirstName], u.[LastName] FROM User u INNER JOIN dbo.ConvertCsvToTable(@userList) l ON u.UserName=l.item At this point, I have the username, first and last name for each user passed in. However, I do not know how to actually get the last ticket completed for each of these users. How do I do this? I believe I should be updating the temp table I have created. At the same time, id do not know how to get just the last record in an update statement. Thank you!
