  • Playing around with Eclipse features - Project files are now hidden?

    I don't even remember how, but somehow I managed to make all of my project's source files hidden in Eclipse's Package and Project Explorer panels. Go figure. 'Show Filtered Children (alt+click)' temporarily reveals the files, and only in Package Explorer can I double-click to reopen them from this view. They go back into hiding after I select another item, though. Plus, now I'm getting other annoyances, such as all of the folded non-hidden trees altogether expanding when I click on any item, and the entire file folder tree of my project now being shown in these panels (including my .svn subversion folders... which shouldn't be any of Eclipse's business, presently). Long story short, my Package/Project Explorers' just blew up on me, and I want to know how to fix this. Thanks in advance. P.S. What's a good guide I can use to learn my way around this silly contraption, anyway?

  • Why a "private static" is not seen in a method?

    I have a class with the following declaration of the fields: public class Game { private static String outputFileName; .... } I set the value of the outputFileName in the main method of the class. I also have a write method in the class which use the outputFileName. I always call write after main sets value for outputFileName. But write still does not see the value of the outputFileName. It say that it's equal to null. Could anybody, pleas, tell me what I am doing wrong? ADDED As it is requested I post more code: In the main: String outputFileName = userName + "_" + year + "_" + month + "_" + day + "_" + hour + "_" + minute + "_" + second + "_" + millis + ".txt"; f=new File(outputFileName); if(!f.exists()){ try { f.createNewFile(); } catch (IOException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } } System.out.println("IN THE MAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"); System.out.println("------>" + outputFileName + "<------"); This line outputs me the name of the file. I have application that encrypts images on SD card and after I do that MediaScanner goes wild in LogCat (writing out "not JPEG" exception... and there are time I have over 1000 pics in directory).   • Remove Duplicates from List of HashMap Entries

    I have a List<HashMap<String,Object>> which represents a database where each list record is a database row. I have 10 columns in my database. There are several rows where the values of 2 particular columns are equals. I need to remove the duplicates from the list after the list is updated with all the rows from database. What is the efficient way? FYI - I am not able to do distinct while querying the database, because the GroupName is added at a later stage to the Map after the database is loaded. And since Id column is not primary key, once you add GroupName to the Map. You will have duplicates based on Id + GroupName combination! Hope my question makes sense. Let me know if we need more clarification.

  • How can I Convert XML to an Object using Spring 3.0 mvc while making RESTful request

    Hi, I'm using the Spring 3.0 RC1 framework and I'm currently testing out Spring mvc. I wanted to use Spring mvc to handle restful requests. I have set up my controller to handle the URI request. I am passing in xml with the request. So on the controller I have a method like follows: public void request(RequestObject request) { doSomething(); } I am having a hard time converting the xml to the RequestObject. I haven't seen much documentation on this and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. I'm guess that you would have to annotate the RequestObject using JAXB or something in order to tell Spring to convert the xml file to RequestObject but I'm not sure. Thanks for all of your help!!

  • Better way to set unix permissions when deploying war file

    We have a vendor application where we download their updates and deploy a war file. We are deploying the war file on a unix application server running oracle application server 9i. I believe when we deploy the war file, we remove the previous install and then deploy the new war file. When we deploy the war file, sometimes we have to manually set the unix file permissions for the class and other files. We do this so all the unix user ids can run the processes they need. Is there a better way to do this?

  • Netbeans Editor Library?

    Netbeans seems to say in several places that it supports a library to just host the "Netbeans editor" widget in some other program. It has some weird documentation that seems to say a lot, but doesn't really say much about how to use it: http://bits.netbeans.org/dev/javadoc/org-netbeans-modules-editor-lib2/architecture-summary.html I can't seem to find any download for the "Netbeans editor library" (1 or 2), and the documentation they provide says to download the entire mercurial repository, which doesn't really help me, since it doesn't tell me what is part of this "library" and what is not. If someone could point me to a download for this library, or some minimal documentation about how to use it, that would be great. I've already seen the blog post here, but it doesn't really help with getting the library, and it seems to be talking about classes which I can't find in the Netbeans sources I downloaded (Maybe a different version?)

  • Prevent SQL injection from form-generated SQL.

    Hi all, I have a search table where user will be able to filter results with a filter of the type: Field [Name], Value [John], Remove Rule Field [Surname], Value [Blake], Remove Rule Field [Has Children], Value [Yes], Remove Rule Add Rule So the user will be able to set an arbitrary set of filters, which will result essentially in a completely dynamic WHERE clause. In the future I will also have to implement more complicated logical expressions, like Where (name=John OR name=Nick) AND (surname=Blake OR surname=Bourne), Of all 10 fields the user may or may not filter by, I don't know how many and which filters the user will set. So, I cannot use a prepared statement (which assumes that at least we know the fields in the WHERE clause). This is why prepared statements are unfortunately out of the question, I have to do it with plain old, generated SQL. What measures can I take to protect the application from SQL Injection (REGEX-wise or any other way)?

  • Why can I not deploy my ear on Glassfish

    I have standard maven project in netbeans (netbeans' enterprise application), that have 1 war, 1 ejb and 1 ear modules. I want to inject with @Inject my @Stateless from ejb to war (REST class) using its interface. I have added some beans.xml files in correct folders in project, but im still getting this: Error occurred during deployment: Exception while loading the app : WELD-001409 Ambiguous dependencies for type [LogicBean] with qualifiers [@Default] at injection point [[field] @Inject private pl.edu.amu.wmi.kino.rk.rest.ReportRest.bean]. Possible dependencies [[Session bean [class pl.edu.amu.wmi.kino.rk.data.impl.LogicBeanImpl with qualifiers [@Any @Default]; local interfaces are [LogicBean], Session bean [class pl.edu.amu.wmi.kino.rk.data.impl.LogicBeanImpl with qualifiers [@Any @Default]; local interfaces are [LogicBean]]]. Please see server.log for more details. What am i doing wrong? I have searched the whole internet, but could not find the solution. I know it is possible because i worked on a project with such a staff. THX for any help:)

  • How do you use stereotype annotations in Spring 2.5.x?

    When moving to Spring 2.5.x I found that it adds more stereotype annotations (on top of @Repository from 2.0): @Component, @Service and @Controller. How do you use them? Do you rely on implicit Spring support or you define custom stereotype specific functions/aspects/features? Or is it predominately for marking beans (compile time, conceptual, etc.)?

  • Get name of currently executing test in JUnit 4

    In JUnit 3, I could get the name of the currently running test like this: public class MyTest extends TestCase { public void testSomething() { System.out.println("Current test is " + getName()); ... } } which would print "Current test is testSomething". Is there any out-of-the-box or simple way to do this in JUnit 4? Background: Obviously, I don't want to just print the name of the test. I want to load test-specific data that is stored in a resource with the same name as the test. You know, convention over configuration and all that. Thanks!

  • Try all available WSDL IPs with JAX-WS

    I'm using JAX-WS to open a service port. When the DNS exposes two IPs for the DNS entry (of the WSDL), the Service tries to use only the first - resulting in a "Failed to access the WSDL at: http://some.url.com/someDocument?wsdl. It failed with: Connection refused: connect" exception. I've found an issue filed against JAX-WS, but with no resolution. this is the comment that describes my problem best. The code is just a one-liner: Service service = Service.create("http://some.url.com/someDocument?wsdl", engineQName); the smarts is exposing those two A records on http://some.url.com/ at the DNS. So initially, I can set the classpath from project\lib\sample.jar file in order to avoid the compilation error. But once the Eclipse RCP application started, and click one update button, a new sample.jar file would be generated at workspace. Now I wanted to update the classpath for newly generated sample.jar from workspace. Which is the best option for setting such a runtime classpath ?

  • Client Web Service call over SSL using Apache Axis

    I'm using Apache Axis 1.5.1 to code a web service client connecting to a service over SSL. My application is running in Tomcat with SSL configuration setup in JKS. However, when I connect to the server, the connection is failing because the cert from our client is not being sent to the server. Is this something that has to be set in the client through code? Also note that the server does not need any user name or password authentication. With SSL turned off, everything works fine. Thanks,

    I need to build an AJAX application against our MS SQL Server database for my company. the app has to have user permissions and reporting and is pretty complex. I am really under the gun in terms of time. The company that I work for needs the app for an important project launch. A colleague/friend of mine in a different company recommended that I look at a product from Alpha Software called Alpha Five v10 with Codeless AJAX. He has told me that he has used it extensively and that it saves him a "serious boat load of time" and he says that he has not run into limitations because you can also write your own JavaScript or you wire in jQuery. Can anyone tell me how to automatically set <h:selectOneMenu (or any other component) with values depending on another <h:selectOneMenu if there empty elements with 'required' set to 'true' on the form? If to set <a4j:support event="onchange" reRender="anotherElement" immediate="true"/ then nothing is changed because changed value isn't set. But without immediate i always have message that this or that element cannot be empty.   • Where to put default-servlet-handler in Spring MVC configuration

    In my web.xml, the default servlet mapping, i.e. /, is mapped to Spring dispatcher. In my Spring dispatcher configuration, I have DefaultAnnotationHandlerMapping, ControllerClassNameHandlerMapping and AnnotationMethodHandlerAdapter which allows me to map url to controllers either by its class name or its @Requestmapping annotation. However, there are some static resources under the web root which I also want spring dispatcher to serve using default servlet. According to Spring documentation, this can be done using <mvc:default-servlet-handler/> tag. In the configuration below, there are 4 candidate locations that I marked which are possible to insert this tag. Inserting the tag in different location causes the dispatcher to behave differently as following : Case 1 : If I insert it at location 1, the dispatcher will no longer be able to handle mapping by the @RequestMapping and controller class name but it will be serving the static content normally. Cas 2, 3 : It will be able to handle mapping by the @RequestMapping and controller class name as well as serving the static content if other mapping cannot be done successfully. Case 4 : It will not be able to serve the static contents.     Hi all, I'm new to JTable.I'm working in Swings using JTable & Toplink(JPA). I have two buttons "add Row", "Del Row" and I have some records displayed from db. when ever "add row" is clicked a new record, row header should be added to JTable with an auto increment number displayed in sequential order to the JTable Row Header. During deletion using "Del row " button the record has to be deleted & not its corresponding header so that next rows got updated to the previous headers & the auto increment number remain unchanged and always be in sequence. please help me on this regard.   • How do I share a Hibernate SessionFactory across web applications?

    I have two web applications that are running on a single Tomcat server and are connected to the same database with Hibernate. I am concerned that having two SessionFactory instances running around might cause some issues. Also, since both web applications share much of the same application logic, I thought it would be a good idea to centralize as much as I could. And since I use Spring for DI and Hibernate configuration it would make sense to have a single ApplicationContext as well. How would I go about doing something like this? Do I need to deploy a headless WAR that creates an ApplicationContext and thus a SessionFactory and allow each application access to it? Is this even a good idea?
