  • What might cause the Save and Open dialog windows to just not work?

    - by Nick Bolton
In several applications, the Save and Load dialog windows are just not showing. And in notepad (which obviously handles the return code) is reporting an out of memory issue, which I'm sure is not the case; I think it's assuming it's out of memory as it can't get the window handle. In any case, there's something definitely wrong with Windows, but there's nothing in the event log. Any idea why this might happen?

  • Moving Temp folder location

    - by Chadworthington
My C drive is a small SSD that I don't want to wear out or fill with unnecessary stuff. Is there any harm in moving the temp folder to another drive? I am under the impression that Windows will not need to look for files here, for example, in the case of uninstalls... Is this the case?

  • Can I extend my monitors, mouse, keyboard accross a room?

    - by jasondavis
I am considering building my next PC into a server rack case, the reason is I am getting a server cabinet and will be putting in a few servers in it. It will be in my room where I use my main PC as well and in my case it just makes sense to build my next PC into this cabinet/rack. So my main concern, will I be able to extend my mouse, keyboard, and 2-3 monitors10-15 feet accross a room from my server rack to my desk?

  • Trunking at Router Port

    - by singh
After reading a bit about interVLAN routing got a doubt regarding how trunking takes place at router and at switch. In case of switch we configure a port interface as trunk port and say all vlan's are allowed here but in case of router we configure sub interface as trunk saying particular vlan belongs to particular subinterface .Can't we configure only a single port interface on router just like Switch and say all vlan's are allowed here on this interface ,why to go for sub interfaces? Hope I'm able to put my question in right way.

  • Secure Standalone Server Plus Firewall Unit [closed]

    - by orbitron
We need to send a 2U server, 1U UPS and 1U firewall to a third-party. The thing is, it needs to be a secured case (locked unit) that has proper airflow and we can have power and networking cables coming out of the back. We've googled far and wide and have only been able to find 'hard case' units that offer some level of security but they are extremely bulky and require freight delivery. Thank you for any insight or solutions.

  • IE8 Jquery Javascript "Error: Object required" Bug

    - by thechrisvoth
    IE8 throws an "Error: Object required" message (error in the actual jquery library script, not my javascript file) when the switch statement in this function runs. This code works in IE6, IE7, FF3, and Safari... Any ideas? Does it have something to do with the '$(this)' selector in the switch? Thanks! function totshirts(){ $('.shirt-totals input').val('0'); var cxs = 0; var cs = 0; var cm = 0; $.each($('select.size'), function() { switch($(this).val()){ case "cxs": cxs ++; $('input[name="cxs"]').val(cxs); break; case "cs": cs ++; $('input[name="cs"]').val(cs); break; case "cm": cm ++; $('input[name="cm"]').val(cm); break; } }); }

  • Exclude a directory from a rewriterule using ISAPI rewrite 3

    - by mludd
Basically I've recently added the below rule in my httpd.conf for ISAPI rewrite on an IIS server to make sure that it always defaults to lower-case file and directory names. RewriteRule ^(.*[A-Z].*)$ $1 [CL,R=301,L] This is all fine and dandy for every part of the site except for one directory which we can call /MisbehavingDir, the code in this particular directory is filled with mixed-case filenames and lots of server- and client-side scripting that would have to be rewritten to use all lower-case in order to work properly (with the RewriteRule above it seems to hit a couple of 301s in the wrong places which causes that part of the site to function poorly to say the least). Since I'm not in the mood for rewriting that part of the site I'd love to find a good way to modify the above regex so that it matches everything except paths starting with MisbehavingDir and since my regex-fu isn't really good enough I figured I'd ask here. Is there a simple "beautiful" solution to this that anyone wants to share or should I just set aside several days to rewrite the app, then test it and go through that whole dance?

  • DBD::CSV: How can I generate different behavior with the two f_ext-options ".csv" and ".csv/r"?

    - by sid_com
This is from the DBD::File-documentation: f_ext This attribute is used for setting the file extension where (CSV) files are opened. There are several possibilities. DBI:CSV:f_dir=data;f_ext=.csv In this case, DBD::File will open only table.csv if both table.csv and table exist in the datadir. The table will still be named table. If your datadir has files with extensions, and you do not pass this attribute, your table is named table.csv, which is probably not what you wanted. The extension is always case-insensitive. The table names are not. DBI:CSV:f_dir=data;f_ext=.csv/r In this case the extension is required, and all filenames that do not match are ignored. It was not possible for me to generate different behavior with the two options ".csv/r" and ".csv". Could someone show me an example, where I can see the difference between ".csv/r" and ".csv"?

  • Linq to Entities : using ToLower() on NText fields

    - by Julien N
I'm using SQL Server 2005, with a case sensitive database.. In a search function, I need to create a Linq To Entities (L2E) query with a "where" clause that compare several strings with the data in the database with these rules : The comparison is a "Contains" mode, not strict compare : easy as the string's Contains() method is allowed in L2E The comparison must be case insensitive : I use ToLower() on both elements to perform an insensitive comparison. All of this performs really well but I ran into the following Exception : "Argument data type ntext is invalid for argument 1 of lower function" on one of my fields. It seems that the field is a NText field and I can't perform a ToLower() on that. What could I do to be able to perform a case insensitive Contains() on that NText field ?

  • UITableView: Juxtaposing row, header, and footer insertions/deletions

    - by jdandrea
Consider a very simple UITableView with one of two states. First state: One (overall) table footer One section containing two rows, a section header, and a section footer Second state: No table footer One section containing four rows and no section header/footer In both cases, each row is essentially one of four possible UITableViewCell objects, each containing its own UITextField. We don't even bother with reuse or caching, since we're only dealing with four known cells in this case. They've been created in an accompanying XIB, so we already have them all wired up and ready to go. Now consider we want to toggle between the two states. Sounds easy enough. Let's suppose our view controller's right bar button item provides the toggling support. We'll also track the current state with an ivar and enumeration. To be explicit for a sec, here's how one might go from state 1 to 2. (Presume we handle the bar button item's title as well.) In short, we want to clear out our table's footer view, then insert the third and fourth rows. We batch this inside an update block like so: // Brute forced references to the third and fourth rows in section 0 NSUInteger row02[] = {0, 2}; NSUInteger row03[] = {0, 3}; [self.tableView beginUpdates]; state = tableStateTwo; // 'internal' iVar, not a property self.tableView.tableFooterView = nil; [self.tableView insertRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObjects: [NSIndexPath indexPathWithIndexes:row02 length:2], [NSIndexPath indexPathWithIndexes:row03 length:2], nil] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; [self.tableView endUpdates]; For the reverse, we want to reassign the table footer view (which, like the cells, is in the XIB ready and waiting), and remove the last two rows: // Use row02 and row03 from earlier snippet [self.tableView beginUpdates]; state = tableStateOne; self.tableView.tableFooterView = theTableFooterView; [self.tableView deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObjects: [NSIndexPath indexPathWithIndexes:row02 length:2], [NSIndexPath indexPathWithIndexes:row03 length:2], nil] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; [self.tableView endUpdates]; Now, when the table asks for rows, it's very cut and dry. The first two cells are the same in both cases. Only the last two appear/disappear depending on the state. The state ivar is consulted when the Table View asks for things like number of rows in a section, height for header/footer in a section, or view for header/footer in a section. This last bit is also where I'm running into trouble. Using the above logic, section 0's header/footer does not disappear. Specifically, the footer stays below the inserted rows, but the header now overlays the topmost row. If we switch back to state one, the section footer is removed, but the section header remains. How about using [self.tableView reloadData] then? Sure, why not. We take care not to use it inside the update block, per Apple's advisement, and simply add it after endUpdates. This time, good news! The section 0 header/footer disappears. :) However ... Toggling back to state one results in a most exquisite mess! The section 0 header returns, only to overlay the first row once again (instead of appear above it). The section 0 footer is placed below the last row just fine, but the overall table footer - now reinstated - overlays the section footer. Waaaaaah … now what? Just to be sure, let's toggle back to state two again. Yep, that looks fine. Coming back to state one? Yecccch. I also tried sprinkling in a few other stunts like using reloadSections:withRowAnimation:, but that only serves to make things worse. NSRange range = {0, 1}; NSIndexSet *indexSet = [NSIndexSet indexSetWithIndexesInRange:range]; ... [self.tableView reloadSections:indexSet withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; Case in point: If we invoke reloadSections... just before the end of the update block, changing to state two hides the first two rows from view, even though the space they would otherwise occupy remains. Switching back to state one returns section 0's header/footer to normal, but those first two rows remain invisible. Case two: Moving reloadSections... to just after the update block but before reloadData results in all rows becoming invisible! (I refer to the row as being invisible because, during tracing, tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: is returning bona-fide cell objects for those rows.) Case three: Moving reloadSections... after tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: brings us a bit closer, but the section 0 header/footer never returns when switching back to state one. Hmm. Perhaps it's a faux pas using both reloadSections... and reloadData, based on what I'm seeing at trace-time, which brings us to: Case four: Replacing reloadData with reloadSections... outright. All cells in state two disappear. All cells in state one remain missing as well (though the space is kept). So much for that theory. :) Tracing through the code, the cell and view objects, as well as the section heights, are all where they should be at the opportune times. They just aren't rendering sanely. So, how to crack this case? Clues welcome/appreciated!

  • Java: notify() vs. notifyAll() all over again

    - by Sergey Mikhanov
If one google for "difference between notify() and notifyAll()" then a lot of explanations will pop up (leaving apart the javadoc paragraphs). It all boils down to the number of waiting threads being waken up: one in notify() and all in notifyAll(). However (if I do understand the difference between these methods right), only one thread is always selected for further monitor acquisition; in the first case the one selected by the VM, in the second case the one selected by the system thread scheduler. The exact selection procedures for both of them (in general case) are not known to the programmer. What's is the useful difference between notify() and notifyAll() then? Am I missing something?

  • Difference between PORT and LATCH on PIC 18F

    - by acemtp
I already read the datasheet and google but I still don't understand something. In my case, I set PIN RC6 of a PIC18F26K20 in INPUT mode: TRISCbits.TRISC6 = 1; Then I read the value with PORT and LATCH and I have different value! v1 = LATCbits.LATC6; v2 = PORTCbits.RC6; v1 gives me 0 where v2 gives 1. Is it normal? In which case we have to use PORT and in which case LATCH?

  • JPQL cross tab query

    - by Phil
Hi can anyone tell me if its possible to write a cross tab query in JPQL? (I'm using eclipse link JPA2) An example of a cross tab query in SQL can found here http://onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2003/12/04/crosstabs.html SELECT dept, COUNT(CASE WHEN gender = 'm' THEN id ELSE NULL END) AS m, COUNT(CASE WHEN gender = 'f' THEN id ELSE NULL END) AS f, COUNT(*) AS total FROM person GROUP BY dept How can I do the same thing as a single query in JPQL? Looking at the spec it doesn't seem to look like CASE is valid in COUNT Is there any other way?

  • Objective-C "miscasting" a string/int using stringWithFormat and %d

    - by user141146
Hi, I think this is a relatively simple question, but I don't precisely know what's happening. I have a method that tries to build a string using NSString's stringWithFormat It looks like this: NSString *line1 = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"the car is %d miles away", self.ma]; In the above line "self.ma" should be an int, but in my case, I made an error and "self.ma" actually points to a NSString. So, I understand that the line should read NSString *line1 = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"the car is %@ miles away", self.ma]; but my question is what is the %d in the first example doing to my NSString? If I use the debugger, I can see that in once case, "self.ma" equals "32444", but somehow the %d converts it to 1255296. I would've guessed that the conversion of 32444 = 1255296 is some type of base-numbering conversion (hex to dec or something), but that doesn't appear to be the case. Any idea as to what %d is doing to my string? TIA

  • Uploadify Minimum Image Width And Height

    - by Richard Knop
    So I am using the Uplodify plugin to allow users to upload multiple images at once. The problem is I need to set a minimum width and height for images. Let's say 150x150px is the smallest image users can upload. How can I set this limitation in the Uploadify plugin? When user tries to upload smaller picture, I would like to display some error message as well. Here is the PHP file that is called bu the plugin to upload images: <?php define('BASE_PATH', substr(dirname(dirname(__FILE__)), 0, -22)); // set the include path set_include_path(BASE_PATH . '/../library' . PATH_SEPARATOR . BASE_PATH . '/library' . PATH_SEPARATOR . get_include_path()); // autoload classes from the library function __autoload($class) { include str_replace('_', '/', $class) . '.php'; } $configuration = new Zend_Config_Ini(BASE_PATH . '/application' . '/configs/application.ini', 'development'); $dbAdapter = Zend_Db::factory($configuration->database); Zend_Db_Table_Abstract::setDefaultAdapter($dbAdapter); function _getTable($table) { include BASE_PATH . '/application/modules/default/models/' . $table . '.php'; return new $table(); } $albums = _getTable('Albums'); $media = _getTable('Media'); if (false === empty($_FILES)) { $tempFile = $_FILES['Filedata']['tmp_name']; $extension = end(explode('.', $_FILES['Filedata']['name'])); // insert temporary row into the database $data = array(); $data['type'] = 'photo'; $data['type2'] = 'public'; $data['status'] = 'temporary'; $data['user_id'] = $_REQUEST['user_id']; $paths = $media->add($data, $extension, $dbAdapter); // save the photo move_uploaded_file($tempFile, BASE_PATH . '/public/' . $paths[0]); // create a thumbnail include BASE_PATH . '/library/My/PHPThumbnailer/ThumbLib.inc.php'; $thumb = PhpThumbFactory::create(BASE_PATH . '/public/' . $paths[0]); $thumb->adaptiveResize(85, 85); $thumb->save(BASE_PATH . '/public/' . $paths[1]); // add watermark to the bottom right corner $pathToFullImage = BASE_PATH . '/public/' . $paths[0]; $size = getimagesize($pathToFullImage); switch ($extension) { case 'gif': $im = imagecreatefromgif($pathToFullImage); break; case 'jpg': $im = imagecreatefromjpeg($pathToFullImage); break; case 'png': $im = imagecreatefrompng($pathToFullImage); break; } if (false !== $im) { $white = imagecolorallocate($im, 255, 255, 255); $font = BASE_PATH . '/public/fonts/arial.ttf'; imagefttext($im, 13, // font size 0, // angle $size[0] - 132, // x axis (top left is [0, 0]) $size[1] - 13, // y axis $white, $font, 'HunnyHive.com'); switch ($extension) { case 'gif': imagegif($im, $pathToFullImage); break; case 'jpg': imagejpeg($im, $pathToFullImage, 100); break; case 'png': imagepng($im, $pathToFullImage, 0); break; } imagedestroy($im); } echo "1"; } And here's the javascript: $(document).ready(function() { $('#photo').uploadify({ 'uploader' : '/flash-uploader/scripts/uploadify.swf', 'script' : '/flash-uploader/scripts/upload-public-photo.php', 'cancelImg' : '/flash-uploader/cancel.png', 'scriptData' : {'user_id' : 'USER_ID'}, 'queueID' : 'fileQueue', 'auto' : true, 'multi' : true, 'sizeLimit' : 2097152, 'fileExt' : '*.jpg;*.jpeg;*.gif;*.png', 'wmode' : 'transparent', 'onComplete' : function() { $.get('/my-account/temporary-public-photos', function(data) { $('#temporaryPhotos').html(data); }); } }); $('#upload_public_photo').hover(function() { var titles = '{'; $('.title').each(function() { var title = $(this).val(); if ('Title...' != title) { var id = $(this).attr('name'); id = id.substr(5); title = jQuery.trim(title); if (titles.length > 1) { titles += ','; } titles += '"' + id + '"' + ':"' + title + '"'; } }); titles += '}'; $('#titles').val(titles); }); }); Now bear in mind that I know how to check images dimensions in the PHP file. But I'm not sure how to modify the javascript so it won't upload images with very small dimensions.

  • ASP.NET MVC Ajax Form: Is enctype correct? Why doesn't file get uploaded?

    - by Fabio Milheiro
In the case that the user doesn't have Javascript activated, in order to draw a form, I begin this way: <% using (Html.BeginForm("Create", "Language", FormMethod.Post, new {enctype="multipart/form-data"})) { %> If the user has Javascript activated, the following code is used: <% using (Ajax.BeginForm("Create", "Language", new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId = "CommonArea" }, new { enctype = "multipart/form-data" })) { %> The problem is this: In the first case, I can get the file uploaded using the following instruction in the business layer: // Get the uploaded file HttpPostedFile Flag = HttpContext.Current.Request.Files["Flag"]; In the second case, this instruction doesn't work. How do I know upload that file using the Ajax.BeginForm? Is the code right? Can anyone more experience advise about using jQuery plug-in to upload file before the form submission? Thank you

  • SQL Where question

    - by needshelp
Hi all, I have a question about case statements and nulls in a where clause. I want to do the following: Declare @someVar int = null select column1 from TestTable t where t = case when @someVar is not null then @someVar else t end Here is the problem: Let's say @someVar is null. Let's also say that column1 from TestTable t has NULL column values. Then, my condition t = t in the case statement will always evaluate to false. I basically just want to be able to conditionally filter the column based on the value of @someVar if it's provided. Any help?

  • Conditional OrderBy

    - by jeriley
So, right now I've got a number of columns the user can sort by (Name, County, Active) and that's easy but messy. Looks something like this... Select Case e.SortExpression Case "Name" If (isDescending) Then resultsList.OrderByDescending(Function(a) a.Name).ToList() Else resultsList.OrderBy(Function(a) a.Name).ToList() End If Case "County" ... and so on what I would LIKE to do, is something more ... graceful, like this Private Function SortThatList(ByVal listOfStuff As List(Of Stuff), ByVal isDescending As Boolean, ByVal expression As Func(Of Stuff)) As List(Of Stuff) If (isDescending) Then Return listOfStuff.OrderByDescending(expression) Else : Return listOfStuff.OrderBy(expression) End If End Function but it doesn't like the datatype (Of TKey) ... I've tired Func(Of stuff, boolean) (got something in c# that works nicely like that) but can't seem to get this one to do what I want. Ideas? What's the magic syntax?

  • Edit dialog, with bindings and OK/Cancel in WPF

How can i have a dialog for editing the properties of a class with binding, and have OK-Cancel in the dialog? My first idea was this: public partial class EditServerDialog : Window { private NewsServer _newsServer; public EditServerDialog(NewsServer newsServer) { InitializeComponent(); this.DataContext = (_newsServer = newsServer).Clone(); } private void ButtonClick(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { switch (((Button)e.OriginalSource).Content.ToString()) { case "OK": _newsServer = (NewsServer)this.DataContext; this.Close(); break; case "Cancel": this.Close(); break; } } } When in the switch, case "OK", the DataContext contains the correct information, but the originally passed NewsServer instance does not change.

  • SQL SERVER – Faster SQL Server Databases and Applications – Power and Control with SafePeak Caching Options

    - by Pinal Dave
Update: This blog post is written based on the SafePeak, which is available for free download. Today, I’d like to examine more closely one of my preferred technologies for accelerating SQL Server databases, SafePeak. Safepeak’s software provides a variety of advanced data caching options, techniques and tools to accelerate the performance and scalability of SQL Server databases and applications. I’d like to look more closely at some of these options, as some of these capabilities could help you address lagging database and performance on your systems. To better understand the available options, it is best to start by understanding the difference between the usual “Basic Caching” vs. SafePeak’s “Dynamic Caching”. Basic Caching Basic Caching (or the stale and static cache) is an ability to put the results from a query into cache for a certain period of time. It is based on TTL, or Time-to-live, and is designed to stay in cache no matter what happens to the data. For example, although the actual data can be modified due to DML commands (update/insert/delete), the cache will still hold the same obsolete query data. Meaning that with the Basic Caching is really static / stale cache.  As you can tell, this approach has its limitations. Dynamic Caching Dynamic Caching (or the non-stale cache) is an ability to put the results from a query into cache while maintaining the cache transaction awareness looking for possible data modifications. The modifications can come as a result of: DML commands (update/insert/delete), indirect modifications due to triggers on other tables, executions of stored procedures with internal DML commands complex cases of stored procedures with multiple levels of internal stored procedures logic. When data modification commands arrive, the caching system identifies the related cache items and evicts them from cache immediately. In the dynamic caching option the TTL setting still exists, although its importance is reduced, since the main factor for cache invalidation (or cache eviction) become the actual data updates commands. Now that we have a basic understanding of the differences between “basic” and “dynamic” caching, let’s dive in deeper. SafePeak: A comprehensive and versatile caching platform SafePeak comes with a wide range of caching options. Some of SafePeak’s caching options are automated, while others require manual configuration. Together they provide a complete solution for IT and Data managers to reach excellent performance acceleration and application scalability for  a wide range of business cases and applications. Automated caching of SQL Queries: Fully/semi-automated caching of all “read” SQL queries, containing any types of data, including Blobs, XMLs, Texts as well as all other standard data types. SafePeak automatically analyzes the incoming queries, categorizes them into SQL Patterns, identifying directly and indirectly accessed tables, views, functions and stored procedures; Automated caching of Stored Procedures: Fully or semi-automated caching of all read” stored procedures, including procedures with complex sub-procedure logic as well as procedures with complex dynamic SQL code. All procedures are analyzed in advance by SafePeak’s  Metadata-Learning process, their SQL schemas are parsed – resulting with a full understanding of the underlying code, objects dependencies (tables, views, functions, sub-procedures) enabling automated or semi-automated (manually review and activate by a mouse-click) cache activation, with full understanding of the transaction logic for cache real-time invalidation; Transaction aware cache: Automated cache awareness for SQL transactions (SQL and in-procs); Dynamic SQL Caching: Procedures with dynamic SQL are pre-parsed, enabling easy cache configuration, eliminating SQL Server load for parsing time and delivering high response time value even in most complicated use-cases; Fully Automated Caching: SQL Patterns (including SQL queries and stored procedures) that are categorized by SafePeak as “read and deterministic” are automatically activated for caching; Semi-Automated Caching: SQL Patterns categorized as “Read and Non deterministic” are patterns of SQL queries and stored procedures that contain reference to non-deterministic functions, like getdate(). Such SQL Patterns are reviewed by the SafePeak administrator and in usually most of them are activated manually for caching (point and click activation); Fully Dynamic Caching: Automated detection of all dependent tables in each SQL Pattern, with automated real-time eviction of the relevant cache items in the event of “write” commands (a DML or a stored procedure) to one of relevant tables. A default setting; Semi Dynamic Caching: A manual cache configuration option enabling reducing the sensitivity of specific SQL Patterns to “write” commands to certain tables/views. An optimization technique relevant for cases when the query data is either known to be static (like archive order details), or when the application sensitivity to fresh data is not critical and can be stale for short period of time (gaining better performance and reduced load); Scheduled Cache Eviction: A manual cache configuration option enabling scheduling SQL Pattern cache eviction based on certain time(s) during a day. A very useful optimization technique when (for example) certain SQL Patterns can be cached but are time sensitive. Example: “select customers that today is their birthday”, an SQL with getdate() function, which can and should be cached, but the data stays relevant only until 00:00 (midnight); Parsing Exceptions Management: Stored procedures that were not fully parsed by SafePeak (due to too complex dynamic SQL or unfamiliar syntax), are signed as “Dynamic Objects” with highest transaction safety settings (such as: Full global cache eviction, DDL Check = lock cache and check for schema changes, and more). The SafePeak solution points the user to the Dynamic Objects that are important for cache effectiveness, provides easy configuration interface, allowing you to improve cache hits and reduce cache global evictions. Usually this is the first configuration in a deployment; Overriding Settings of Stored Procedures: Override the settings of stored procedures (or other object types) for cache optimization. For example, in case a stored procedure SP1 has an “insert” into table T1, it will not be allowed to be cached. However, it is possible that T1 is just a “logging or instrumentation” table left by developers. By overriding the settings a user can allow caching of the problematic stored procedure; Advanced Cache Warm-Up: Creating an XML-based list of queries and stored procedure (with lists of parameters) for periodically automated pre-fetching and caching. An advanced tool allowing you to handle more rare but very performance sensitive queries pre-fetch them into cache allowing high performance for users’ data access; Configuration Driven by Deep SQL Analytics: All SQL queries are continuously logged and analyzed, providing users with deep SQL Analytics and Performance Monitoring. Reduce troubleshooting from days to minutes with database objects and SQL Patterns heat-map. The performance driven configuration helps you to focus on the most important settings that bring you the highest performance gains. Use of SafePeak SQL Analytics allows continuous performance monitoring and analysis, easy identification of bottlenecks of both real-time and historical data; Cloud Ready: Available for instant deployment on Amazon Web Services (AWS). As you can see, there are many options to configure SafePeak’s SQL Server database and application acceleration caching technology to best fit a lot of situations. If you’re not familiar with their technology, they offer free-trial software you can download that comes with a free “help session” to help get you started. You can access the free trial here. Also, SafePeak is available to use on Amazon Cloud. • GWT: Wrong Key Codes generated with a French keyboard

    - by Flueras Bogdan
On any french keyboard(AZERTY) the dot char '.' is generated with (Shift + ;) combination while the percent char '%' is generated with (Shift + ù) combination So when I type one of the above combinations in a GWT text area to write '.' or ' %', the key codes generated for these events are KEY_DELETE in the former case and KEY_LEFT in the latter. TextArea txtArea = new TextArea(); txtArea.addKeyPressHandler(new KeyPressHandler() { public void onKeyPress(KeyPressEvent event) { switch (charCode) { case KeyCodes.KEY_LEFT: { // key code 37 System.out.write("KEY LEFT"); break; } case KeyCodes.KEY_DELETE: { // key code 46 System.out.write("DELETE"); break; } } Workaround: get charCode and do a character match: charCode = event.getCharCode(); if (charCode == '.') {...} else if (charCode == '%') {...} Is this a GWT bug? And is there a more elegant way to handle this ?

  • Help with a simple switch statement

    - by revive
I need to find the value of a variable and use it to add a class to a div, based on a switch statement. For example, my variable is $link and if $link has google.com IN IT at all, I need $class to equal 'google', if $link as yahoo.com IN IT at all, $class then needs to equal 'yahoo' So, I need something like this, but I'm not sure how/or if to use preg_match or something to check and see if the $link variable has the value we are looking for in it - see 'case' text below: switch ($link) { case 'IF link has Google.com in it': $class = 'google'; break; case 'IF link has Yahoo.com in it': $class = 'yahoo'; break; default: # code... break; } OR if there is a better way to do this, please let me know :D Thanks

  • Composing actors

    - by Brian Heylin
    I've implemented a Listenable/Listener trait that can be added to Actors. I'm wondering if it's possible to attach this style of trait to an actor without it having to explicitly call the listenerHandler method? Also I was expecting to find this functionality in the Akka library. Am I missing something or is there some reason that Akka would not not include this? trait Listenable { this: Actor => private var listeners: List[Actor] = Nil protected def listenerHandler: PartialFunction[Any, Unit] = { case AddListener(who) => listeners = who :: listeners } protected def notifyListeners(event: Any) = { listeners.foreach(_.send(event)) } } class SomeActor extends Actor with Listenable { def receive = listenerHandler orElse { case Start => notifyListeners(Started()) case Stop => notifyListeners(Stopped()) } }

  • Is a switch statement the fastest way to implement operator interpretation in Java

    - by Mordan
Is a switch statement the fastest way to implement operator interpretation in Java public boolean accept(final int op, int x, int val) { switch (op) { case OP_EQUAL: return x == val; case OP_BIGGER: return x > val; case OP_SMALLER: return x < val; default: return true; } } In this simple example, obviously yes. Now imagine you have 1000 operators. would it still be faster than a class hierarchy? Is there a threshold when a class hierarchy becomes more efficient in speed than a switch statement? (in memory obviously not) abstract class Op { abstract public boolean accept(int x, int val); } And then one class per operator.
