  • Problem using psexec to remotely GAC a file

    As part of a deployment process I am trying to GAC a series of files. The actual build process occurs on a build server, and I am trying to use psexec to GAC the files on whichever machine has requested the build. The current line I am trying to execute is: C:\PsToolspsexec.exe \COMPUTER -u USER -p PASS gacutil.exe -i Assembly.dll -f The error that I am getting back is: Failure adding assembly to the cache: The system cannot find the file specified. So apparently the dll reference is on the remote box, and unfortunately the dll is sitting on the build box. Is there any way to just do this with psexec somehow, or do I need to copy it to some temporary location on the \\COMPUTER? I know there are commands to copy the executable as part of the psexec process, but I can't seem to find anything similar for supporting files.

    I'm trying to get to the overscan slider in CCC but in the Desktops and Displays menu I can't right click the tv in the bottom left to bring up the configure option. If i hover the mouse over the tv it says TV, Disabled. How do i enable it?   • Magento installation problem on Nginx in Windows

    I am trying to install magento locally using nginx as the web server instead of Apache. I copied the magento folder to the html directory. When i try to call the magento folder, I get the 404 not found error. I am able to access other php files setup in the html folder and have PHP installed. I followed this HOWTO from MSDN, and the setup seems to be working fine: add a record to one table on server A, query on server B shows the new record. So far, so good. Having this setup without conflict detection feels pretty useless... EDIT OK, so after some more research and setting up with different databases etc, I found out that the calculated 'Id' column of the Templates table is the culprit. I don't know why, but the replication doesn't seem to allow calculated columns (which are also primary key). It works now too, without the 'Id' column, and using the NodeId and LocalId as a combined PK. So now the question is, why isn't it allowed to have a calculated column as PK for replication with conflict detection?

  • Problem removing US keyboard layout from input languages

    I'm working on English (UK) version of Windows 7, my second input language is Russian. Since installation of Windows I have removed US keyboard layout and set LEFT ALT+SHIFT as input switcher. Everything was fine until now. Recently I noticed that my switch combination does not always work. I opened language select bar and found there English (US) keyboard layout. I went to settings and found that in General Tab there is only two languages available, US was not listed. I decided to add US layout manually and remove it after. This operation went as expected, US layout disappeared from language bar. But after few hours it appeared again. I started "googling" and found that I'm not alone. On Microsoft forum I found suggestion to remove US layout as I did before and than copy all settings to all profiles. It's look like some service are adding US layout on it's own, but I have no idea which one. Does any one know how to fix this issue?

  • VMWare Server Windows 2008 NAT Problem

    At my new job our workstations run Windows Server 2008. However, for the specific task for which I've been hired, I need to set up a couple Linux VMs. So I grabbed the free VMWare Server and created an Ubuntu image and a Slackware image. (The former to more closely mimic the production server, the latter because I'm more familiar with it.) For desktop security purposes I need to use NAT for the network access (I would have preferred bridged, but I'm told that would go against some policy here and my whole workstation would be sandboxed from the switch). However, I can't seem to get it working right. I can ping out from the VMs to LAN addresses as well as internet addresses. I can resolve DNS names. However, attempts to use a web browser or perform any kind of higher-level interaction like that just time out. Googling around yesterday led me to various workarounds that were similar, but didn't solve my specific situation. (For example, Norton firewall blocking the connection on the host, or even the Windows firewall.) I also saw some forum posts where people said it's a known issue with VMWare and Windows Server 2008 (and Windows 7). So far I haven't been able to find a suggestion that gets me past this roadblock. I'm really not very familiar with managing a Windows Server 2008 box, so it's possible there's just some security setting somewhere that I need to modify. Does anybody have any suggestions on where I should look? UPDATE: I'm now looking at the "Network and Sharing Center" on the host workstation and it shows "VMWare Network Adapter VMnet8" (which is what I'm using) as an "Unidentified network" with "No Internet access." Looks like I can't modify ICS under the group policy. Any suggestions on how to allow this connection to have internet access?

    I have a Vaio VPCCW21FX with Windows 7 Home Premium. I'm trying to reach the bluetooth settings but to no avail. I could neither switch the bluetooth on nor find the settings for it. I have tried the following: In Start menu, typed bluetooth, found "Bluetooth" in Programs, clicked on it, but there was no response. Checked task manager, there's nothing related bluetooth. Headed for Control Panel, opened Add Devices or Printers, right-clicked on Vaio computer, clicked on Bluetooth Settings, and no response again. What's wrong with my laptop? How can I fix this?

    I have a MOSS Server with SSRS 2008 Ent Ed configured in Sharepoint Integrated mode. It all works well as http://servername:88/ on the default host header. MOSS works fine using the external host name too on the intranet AAM field (http://site.domain.com/) however SSRS fails on the same url with the message: An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode. I think the issue is further complicated by our Windows 2008 infrastructure in which we've never been able to get SPN's working for Kerberos. SQL Server however, is on the same machine so I dont think it is a kerberos double hop issue. Extra info MOSS/SSRS are on a VM running Windows 2003 R2 VM is hosted on Win2008 HyperV DC is on Windows 2008 SBS

Specifially, after running selfssl /n:CN=server.domain.local /t /v:365, and ensuring that Require Client Certificates is selected in the following directories: SimpleAuthWebService ServerSyncWebService DssAuthWebService ClientWebService APIRemoting30 I am receiving Event 120[2-5]2 upon running wsusutil.exe checkhealth. Basically, each of the directories I require the certificate on fails to work. What am I missing?

    Hello, we just have upgraded the firmware of a dell 6224 power connect switch and it won't reload. These are the symptons: - I power up the switch having the serial cable connected to it and the switch outputs nothing. The configuration of the serial console is fine: 9600 bds, etc... In fact, before the upgrade, I was connected to the switch through the very same cable. - Reseting the switch with its reset pinhole does not reset the switch: the power and fan lights powers off while I keep pressed the pinhole, but the switch itself does not resets. - When I connect an UTP cable to one of the switches port, the green lights don't flash, but ''mii-tool eth0'' in my laptop shows there is link!! The only thing I see in the output, different from other upgrades I've done, is this line at the end: Erasing Boot Flash.....^^^^Done. Any help or idea will be more than welcome!!     Since 2-3 weeks, each time I update my fedora 11 box with yum, I get these messages. Error unpacking rpm package kde-filesystem-4-33.fc11.noarch warning: /etc/rpm/macros.kde4 saved as /etc/rpm/macros.kde4.rpmsave error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/share/doc/HTML/fr/docs/common: cpio: rename Failed: kde-filesystem.noarch 0:4-33.fc11 Everything else works fine. I tried to reinstall it. The re-installation was fine but I still get the messages when I yum update I didn't try to remove it with yum because it will remove more than 100 packages dues to dependencies. What else could I do ?

    I installed windows 7 and noticed that the battery status was "plugged in, not charging". I tried unplugging the battery, uninstalling the microsoft ACPI compliant Control Method, updating bios,windows. All to no avail. at first I tought it was related to windows 7 because it's a brand new laptop. But I also tested with a knoppix live cd, and there the output of acpi -V is this Battery 0: Unknown, 0% What else can I test to figure out what's going on.

  • CentOS 5.5 ext4 conversion problem - ext4 partition is recognized as ext3

    Hello. I had 5.4 machine. Upgraded to 5.5 today via yum upgrade. All went fine. Rebooted. Wanted to convert root partition to ext4 (I have three partitions: /boot, / and swap). All of them on software RAID 1 (root is /dev/md2). I did the following for converting yum install e4fsprogs tune2fs -O extents,uninit_bg,dir_index /dev/md2 nano /etc/fstab # I indicated here that my /dev/md2 is of ext4 uname -a mkinitrd -f /boot/initrd-2.6.18-194.3.1.el5.img 2.6.18-194.3.1.el5 Rebooted. I expected fsck to start automatically as said on some site. But it did not. Threw some error (don't remember exactly which). Ok, I booted linux rescue and executed fsck: fsck -t ext4 -fy /dev/md2 Partition went fine. But still when I boot main system, it says in log: "ext3-fs:" then something about not being able to mount ext3 partition due to unknown extended attributed (200). I booted linux rescue again. It loads fine and correctly determines all my machine partitions both ext3 (boot) and ext4 (/) under /mnt/sysimage just fine. I retried mkinitrd thing again watching it's output and ensured ext4 module is included into the system. I also edited menu.lst grub file to include rootfstype=ext4 kernel parameter. Bad luck. I still have message from ext3-fs about not being able to mount filesystem because of attributes and kernel panic immediately after. I checked /etc/fstab - it's fine and saying that root is of ext4. What did I do wrong? This machine is empty so I can just reformat it with 5.5 and recreate partitions to be originally ext4. But... I just want to know what did I do wrong.

    Hi, the thing is that I just installed IIS in my Windows 7 computer to test it out, but I'm getting this error as soon as I try to load the localhost on my web browser: Service Unavailable HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable. I found this solution but it didn't work. Anyone has an idea of what's going on? Thanks! More Info: I checked on the Application Pools, as soon as I go to http://localhost/ it stops the application pool of thw website I try.

    After upgrading a computer from Centos3 to Centos5 an application that does a lot of scrolling took a very high performance hit. top tells me that X is using a lot of CPU and that was not happening before. The machine has an ATI Rage XL with 8MB and X is using the ati driver as there is no proprietary ATI driver for this board on linux.
