  • How to prevent PHP variables from being arrays?

    I think that (the title) is the problem I am having. I set up a MySQL connection, I read an XML file, and then I insert those values into a table by looping through the elements. The problem is, instead of inserting only 1 record, sometimes I insert 2 or 3 or 4. It seems to depend on the previous values I have read. I think I am reinitializing the variables, but I guess I am missing something -- hopefully something simple. Here is my code. I originally had about 20 columns, but I shortened the included version to make it easier to read. $ctr = 0; $sql = "insert into csd (id,type,nickname,hostname,username,password) ".     I can use JavaScript's split to put a comma-separated list of items in an array: var mystring = "a,b,c,d,e"; var myarray = mystring.split(","); What I have in mind is a little more complicated. I have this dictionary-esque string: myvalue=0;othervalue=1;anothervalue=0; How do I split this so that the keys end up in one array and the values end up in another array?

  • textures and vertex arrays with OpenGL?

    Basically what I'd like to do is make textured NGONS. I also want to use a tesselator (GLU) to make concave and multicontour objects. I was wondering how the texture comes into play though. I think that the tesselator will return verticies so I will add these to my array, that's fine. But my vertex array will contain more than one polygon object so then how can I tell it when to bind the texture like in immediate mode? Right now I feel stuck with one call to bind. How can this be done? Thanks

  • What is the advantage to hosting static resources on a separate domain?

    I notice a lot of sites host their resources on a separate domain from the main site, e.g. StackExchange using sstatic.net, Barnes & Noble using imagesbn.com, etc. I understand that there are benefits to putting your static resources on a separate host, possibly with an efficient static-file web server like nginx, freeing up the main server to focus on serving dynamic content. Similarly, outsourcing to a shared CDN like cloudfront Akamai is logical. What is the benefit to using a separate domain otherwise, though? Why sstatic.net instead of static.stackexchange.com? Update: Several answers miss the core question. I understand that there is benefit to splitting between multiple hosts — parallel downloads, slimmer web server, etc. But what is more elusive is why multiple domains. Why sstatic.net rather than static.stackexchange.com as the host for shared resources? So far, only one answer has addressed that.

    Hello, I'm working on a C++ project that produces a lib that other teams use. It's being produced in a few different flavours: Win32 Debug Win32 Debug Static Win32 Release Win32 Release Static x64 Debug x64 Debug Static x64 Release x64 Release Static I'm wondering what the best wisdom is on how to name the dlls and what arguments are for different naming conventions. Do I output the libs into different directories, or do I append some letters on the end of the lib to differentiate them, or something else? One concern is that if I use directories, but don't give all the libs different names, users of the library will have problems where they accidentally use the wrong lib. Are these concerns valid?     I am trying to create wsdl definition for the below soap response, < reasonCode Required="TRUE" < ValidCodeRR< /ValidCode < ValidCodeRB< /ValidCode < ValidCodeRT< /ValidCode < ValidCodeAR< /ValidCode < /reasonCode Below is the wsdl definition I have, < xsd:complexType < xsd:sequence < xsd:element name="ValidCode" type="xsd:string" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="20" / < /xsd:sequence < xsd:attribute name="Required" type="xsd:string" / < /xsd:complexType < /xsd:element I am using Axis 1 to generate the webservices client and for the above wsdl definition, the tool generates the reasonCode as a string array like below. private java.lang.String[] reasonCode It ignores the attribute required. Does anyone know how to write wsdl defintion, such that axis creates reasonCode as an element with an attribute "required". Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, SK

  • Why is JavaMail Transport.send() a static method?

    I'm revising code I did not write that uses JavaMail, and having a little trouble understanding why the JavaMail API is designed the way it is. I have the feeling that if I understood, I could be doing a better job. We call: transport = session.getTransport("smtp"); transport.connect(hostName, port, user, password); So why is Eclipse warning me that this: transport.send(message, message.getAllRecipients()); is a call to a static method? Why am I getting a Transport object and providing settings that are specific to it if I can't use that object to send the message? How does the Transport class even know what server and other settings to use to send the message? It's working fine, which is hard to believe. What if I had instantiated Transport objects for two different servers; how would it know which one to use? In the course of writing this question, I've discovered that I should really be calling: transport.sendMessage(message, message.getAllRecipients()); So what is the purpose of the static Transport.send() method? Is this just poor design, or is there a reason it is this way?

    I apologise if this has been asked before but I can't find the info I need. Basically I want a UITableView to be populated using info from a server, similar to the SeismicXML example. I have the parser as a separate object, is it correct to alloc, init an instance of that parser & then tell RootViewController to make it's table data source a copy of the parser's array. I can't include code because I haven't written anything yet, I'm just trying to get the design right before I start. Perhaps something like: xmlParser = [[XMLParser alloc] init]; [xmlParser getXMLData]; // Assuming xmlParser stores results in an array called returnedArray self.tableDataSource = xmlParser.returnedArray Is this the best way of doing it?

    Hi, I currently have an array, created from a database, an example of which looks like the following: Array( [0] => Array ( objectid => 2, name => title, value => apple ), [1] => Array ( objectid => 2, name => colour, value => red ), [2] => Array ( objectid => 3, name => title, value => pear ), [3] => Array ( objectid => 3, name => colour, value => green ) ) What I would like to do is group all the items in the array by their objectid, and convert the 'name' values into keys and 'value' values into values of an associative array....like below: Array ( [0] => Array ( objectid => 2, title => apple, colour => red ), [1] => Array ( objectid => 3, title => pear, colour => green ) ) I've tried a few things but haven't really got anywhere..     Hi - Is it possible to have an array that contains two different types of data? I want to have an array that contains a double and also a string. I attempted: ArrayList<double><String> array; But that didn't work. Sorry for the silly question, but it has been a while since I have used something like this.. Can you refresh my memory on how would I declare and populate such an array? And then to take it a step further, I would like to sort the array by the double if possible? Thanks!
