  From this article I have learnt, that DWM is enabled only with AERO: Let’s recall: without Aero turned on, the DWM is deactivated, so there’s also no more 2D acceleration, either (this applies equally to Windows 7 as it does to Vista) What is the easiest way to tell whether AERO / DWM on Win 7 is enabled / disabled? With some themes it is (visually) obvious, but with some others not (especially not when using remote access like VNC). Is there some dialog where I can see that AERO / DWM is enabled / disabled?

• Synergy reports connected but mouse doesn't hop between screens

  I'm using synergy between two windows computers (Windows 7 32-bit, acting as the server part, and Windows XP 32-bit, as a client). I'm running the server part as admin, as suggested in some posts when running synergy in Vista/7, and I think it's properly configured in the server part: It reports on both sides that the connection has succesfully been established, but there's no way to move the mouse from one screen to the other (neither from server2client, nor client2server). Any ideas?

My question is this: Is there a program that allows a single Windows 7 computer to have multiple users (2 needed) and allow for two mice and two keyboards on two screens. Edit: On Win8 Aero was removed but the taskbar is transparent (the desktop background picture is slightly visible 'behind' the taskbar). When I'm using the taskbar to switch programs I don't like seeing artifacts 'bleeding-through', I find it distracting.

  I'm using an external hard drive, a Western Digital MyBook 1TB of some sort with eSATA on an eSATA II ExpressCard adapter from Belkin on Windows Vista 32-bit. The issue I'm having is that after a while power management kicks in and puts the hard drive to sleep. When I resume my work and browse the drive, for example, the Explorer hangs and while I can still use my other apps, it takes a couple minutes for it to realize it should wake up the drive and recommence work.   In Windows 95/XP/Vista I could click on the start menu, "All Programs", and I would get a list of all my programs. In Windows 7 when I click start menu, "All Programs", I get a single column with a scroll bar - but that's not what I want, I want to see All Programs. How do I do this? I've looked in the start menu options but cannot find an option that appears to show me all my programs.

(64K, 128K etc) RAID controller options: "adaptive read ahead, write-back" on PERC 6i 90% VMs on server are Windows (2008, 2003, Vista etc, SQL 2005 etc) i have read that smaller stipes are good for writes and larger for reads. Since this is virtual env, not sure whats good.

• Low USB transfer speed

  Hello, I am using Windows Vista, my Motherboard is Intel D102GGC2 The transfer speed through USB is very slow on my PC, just 2-3 MBps... I also use Ubuntu 9.10, and surprisingly the USB transfer speed is as expected, ie 16-17 MBps. So everytime i have to transfer Huge files i have to reboot into Ubuntu. What might be the Problem ??? • Apache server immediately shuts down

  I just installed MySql 5.1.49, Apache 2.2.16 and PHP 5.3.3 on my Vista Home Basic. I followed the instructions in the "Sam's Teach Yourself", adding: LoadModule php5_module C:/php/php5apache2_2.dll PHPIniDir "C:/php/" and AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .html I changed the Listening port to 8080 and the domain is localhost. When I start the server it pops open the window for less than a second and then closes. What am I missing? Thanks.
