• Does an IFilter Exist for Indexing Source Code Files?

  Anybody know of an IFilter that can index source code files beyond what the "Plain Text" filter can provide, with possibly a custom "Property Set" specific to programming? For example, I have 835MB in 41,000 files and 8,200 folders in my "Code Library" folder. I would like to perform searches such as "select distinct attributes on properties" or "select class exceptions" or "select classes with nested private classes". Preferrably, the IFilter can distinguish between various languages, so I can perform a query like "select class exceptions in VB.NET" or "select 'resume next' in VBScript". Other Examples "select all enum from folder('microsoft source code') in namespace 'system.io'"

• Java - SwingWorker - Can we call one SwingWorker from other SwingWorker instead of EDT

  I have a SwingWorker as follows: public class MainWorker extends SwingWorker(Void, MyObject) { : : } I invoked the above Swing Worker from EDT: MainWorker mainWorker = new MainWorker(); mainWorker.execute(); Now, the mainWorker creates 10 instances of a MyTask class so that each instance will run on its own thread so as to complete the work faster. But the problem is I want to update the gui from time to time while the tasks are running. I know that if the task was executed by the mainWorker itself, I could have used publish() and process() methods to update the gui. But as the tasks are executed by threads different from the Swingworker thread, how can I update the gui from intermediate results generated by threads executing tasks.

  I've just read "Injecting Custom Logic in ADO.NET Data Services" and my next question is, How do you get your [WebGet] method to show up in the client-side proxy classes? Sure, I can call this directly (RESTfully) with, say, WebClient but I thought the strong typing features in ADO.NET Data Services would "hide" this from me auto-magically. • custom button: properties change, button should be redrawn

  Hi I'm developing an Android app. I have class derived from button to represent a special type of button. This special type has some properties (integers) and according to these one or more circles have to be drawn on top of the button. So I overrode the onDraw function, which looks the values up and accordingly draws the circles. But the class has a function to set new values for its properties. So new values are set but the changes are not reflected in the UI. It seems like the onDraw function is not called. When later I click the button or show a pop up message above my interface the onDraw function is called and the button is drawn correctly. So my question: when changing the properties how can I say that the button has to be redrawn? Thanks a lot!

• Extract item in a list if Contains returns true

  I have two lists A and B, at the beginning of my program, they are both filled with information from a database (List A = List B). My program runs, List A is used and modified, List B is left alone. After a while I reload List B with new information from the database, and then do a check with that against List A. foreach (CPlayer player in ListA) if (ListB.Contains(player)) ----- Firstly, the object player is created from a class, its main identifier is player.Name. If the Name is the same, but the other variables are different, would the .Contains still return true?   I just started playing with Django today and so far am finding it rather difficult to do simple things. What I'm struggling with right now is filtering a list of status types. The StatusTypes model is: class StatusTypes(models.Model): status = models.CharField(max_length=50) type = models.IntegerField() def __unicode__(self): return self.status class Meta: db_table = u'status_types' In one admin page I need all the results where type = 0 and in another I'll need all the results where type = 1 so I can't just limit it from within the model.   I'm not even sure about how to title this qn. But, hope there is an easy way to do it in dynamic language like groovy. say I have a class Service, where I delegate the business logic. the methods in it are funA(), funB()... funX(). Now I have a controller class, where I call the service closure, which can be invoked like service.funA() . Now based on a variable (which can have values A, B ... X), I need to cal the correct service closure. Basically to avoid writing lot of if conditional statements. Something like service."fun+var"() would do. I'm not sure whether it is possible to substitute variable in closure (function)name. or any way by passing function (name) as a parameter...not sure I think PHP has a similar feature http://php.net/manual/en/functions.variable-functions.php thanks for any pointer..

• How to handle value types when embedding IronPython in C#?

  There is a well known issue when it comes to using .NET value types in IronPython. This has recently caused me a headache when trying to use Python as an embedded scripting language in C#. The problem can be summed up as follows: Given a C# struct such as: struct Vector { public float x; public float y; } And a C# class such as: class Object { public Vector position; } The following will happen in IronPython: obj = Object() print obj.position.x # prints ‘0’ obj.position.x = 1 print obj.position.x # still prints ‘0’ As the article states, this means that value types are mostly immutable. However, this is a problem as I was planning on using a vector library that is implemented as seen above. Are there any workarounds for working with existing libraries that rely on value types? Modifying the library would be the very last resort, but I'd rather avoid that.

(Eg., if writing changeEntry first, changeEntryDetails will be null temporarily). When trying this, I see an exception thrown not-null property references a null or transient value. I'd like to avoid relaxing the constraint if possible, because both sides must be present.

• pager problem with drupal and taxonomy

  Ok, so this is probably a silly question, but i thought i'd put it out there anyway: I know it's a strange solution to a simple problem, but i needed to control the listing of the nodes in the taxonomy pages, which i didn't feel i got the traditional way. So i went ahead and created a module that fetches the nodes based on taxonomy (taxonomy_select_nodes()), and i wanted a pager to go along with that.   I have a graph (with nodes and edges) containing symmetry and a group of permutations to label the nodes so no edges are changed (automorphisms). Now I would like to determine for which nodes a permutation exchanges two equivalent (i.e. nodes with the same color or symmetry class) neighboring nodes. When the nodes with equivalent neighbors stay the same, simply checking if the neighbors are exchanged in the permutation is enough. However, when the nodes with equivalent neighbors are also permuted (i.e. there are multiple nodes with the same color/symmetry class with the same equivalent neighbors), the problem becomes more complex. Is there any known algorithm for such a problem? Some remarks: The graph has no coordinates, it's a topology only

We call it profile and it can restore the saved state of all the controls/views on the window in my application. I have completed the storing/Restoring part, but the issue is when i am updating the class properties manually, it is not updating the control state Like checkboxs and others which is bind with the class property. • compiling actionscript from command line using MXMLC

  I have a tiny actionscript "project" consisting of two files, call them foo.as and bar.as. For reasons I won't go into, I really really want to build the .SWF from the command line, without setting up a formal project of any kind. Every compiler I've ever used lets you do this, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to coerce MXMLC into compiling these two files and linking them into a SWF. Naively, I try MXMLC foo.as bar.as but I'm informed that only one source file is allowed. Ok, supposing I compiled these two files separately, how would I link them together to get the final SWF? NOTE: The only reason I have two files instead of one is the requirement of only one class per file. I tried putting both classes in one file and making one of the classes "private" or "internal" but neither of these ideas worked. I would be ecstatic to find out I can put more than one class in a file (with only one being public).

However, the code that uses a variable which contains the precomputed value for the loop limit is significantly slower than either of the others. I'm not surprised that accessing a variable should be slower that using a literal but why does code that looks like it should be using two multiply instructions on every iteration of the loop so comparable in performance to a literal? Could it be that because literals are the only thing being multiplied, the Java compiler is optimizing out the multiplication and using a precomputed literal?
