• UITableView not showing background image.

  I have a uitableview with 2 cells (custom tableviewcells) and a button for login. I made them programmatically. Now I want to put a background image behind the 2 custom cells and the button. I went into IB and put the image view on top of the tableview and then put a picture on it which I want as the background. Then I went into viewDidLoad and put this bit of code tblSimpleTable.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; to clear the tableviews background colour. It now looks like this: But the background does not appear. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

  I have the following relation in my rails app: genre - has many - authors authors - belong to genre and has many books books - belongs to authors and belongs to users (users can add books to the db) in my controller I have: @books=current_user.books(:include => [:author => :genre], :order => 'books.created_at DESC')--- -- In my controller I used to have: @authors = Author.All @genres = Genre.All etc. -- In my view I have @genres.each do |genre| @authors.each do |author| if author.genre_id == genre.id stuff end end end Now that I'm using eager loading, I can't imagine this is the best way to do this (nor does it work as I don't have the @ variables) - I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on how to approach this?

• Expanding a row in a div-based table

  I have a stack of <div> elements that show a name. I'd like to include a + link off to the side that, when clicked, expands the <div> and adds more detailed information (from a RoR controller). After poking around on the net, I found link_to_remote and related RoR stuff, but I can't seem to get the right combination to work together. Can someone point me to a tutorial or show what the controller and view interaction should look like? Thanks!

• ActiveRecord find all parents that have associated children

  I don't know why I can't figure this out, I think it should be fairly simple. I have two models (see below). I'm trying to come up with a named scope for SupplierCategory that would find all SupplierCategory(s) (including :suppliers) who's associated Supplier(s) are not empty. I tried a straight up join, named_scope :with_suppliers, :joins => :suppliers which gives me only categories with suppliers, but it gives me each category listed separately, so if a category has 2 suppliers, i get the category twice in the returned array: Currently I'm using: named_scope :with_suppliers, :include => :suppliers and then in my view I'm using: <%= render :partial => 'category', :collection => @categories.find_all{|c| !c.suppliers.empty? } %> Not exactly eloquent but illustrates what I'm trying to achieve.   Hi, I have an application that handles the OnQuit event of another running application. I would like to raise an additional (custom) event when the OnQuit event is handled. How could I implement such an event? I have a datagrid view and a display button. when i click on this button, the system must prompt me to enter the server name and after typing the server name, it should display all the databases related to that server in some combo box. and again if i select a database it should show all the tables present in that database into a combobox. and if i select a table, it should prompt an option to select only required columns into the datagridview. How can i do this?

• iPhone SDK: Keep an image from scrolling with a UIScrollView

  Hi, I've been searching all over for an easy way to do this. Right now I have a UIScrollView setup as my main view. There's an Image on the left and a column of TextFields on the right. When any TextField is tapped, the keyboard comes up and hides the bottom TextField. So I have the ScrollView move up to unhide the bottom TextField. Question #1: Is there a way to have it respond to a specific TextField instead of all of them? Question #2: Is there a way to keep the Image on the left static so it doesn't move with the TextFields? • Need advice on multitab form in ASP.NET MVC

  Hi all, i need an advice on how to implement my form. I have a requirement: i need a form that spans through 5 tabs. Each tab has around 10 fields, some of them empty, some of them must contain data from db and be non editable. Each of these tabs must be a part of one form that is submitted to my controller. The question is: what is the best way to implement this? I was thinking about having partial views on each tab, each view would have its own model class. After form gets filled all data from all partials would go to action that will take care of all of it. Any advices? I am using ASP.NET MVC 1, Entity Framework 1, mvc extensions from Telerik and jQuery

• Calling a function in a JavaScript file with Selenium IDE

  So, I'm running these Selenium IDE tests against a site I'm working on. Everything about the tests themselves is running fine, except I would like to do a bit of clean-up once I'm done. In my MVC3 Razor based site, I have a JavaScript file with a function that gets a JsonResult from a Controller of mine. That Controller handles the database clean-up that Selenium IDE otherwise couldn't handle. However, I'm having a hard time finding any sort of documentation on how to do this. I know I can do JavaScript{ myJavascriptGoesHere } as one of the Values for a line in the test, but I can't seem to find a way to tell it to go find my clean-up function. Is it even possible for Selenium IDE to do this sort of thing? If it comes down to it, I can just make a separate View to handle the clean-up, but I'd really like to avoid that if possible. Thanks!

  Hi, I have had my new rails program up for a few days now. I'm running it on Ubuntu 10.4 with apache2 in another location than the website it's made for (it's a standalone database application for physiotherapists). The people I made it for now want me to deploy it to the public part of their website, only with one change. Those who open it via the link in the public-part should not be able to click one button! I was thinking of doing something like this in my view: <% if session[:inside]%> <%=button_to 'Sækja mælitæki', @link_to_mt%> <%end%> How could I set session[:inside] only to true if the program was started from within the private part of the webpage? I thought of creating two new actions, the other would set session[:inside] to true and the other to false, but that seems to me like a security risk, is it not? BR, Sindri

• Save information from MS crash reporter?

  On Windows XP when a process crashes, we get a dialog box with a link: "To view technical information about the error report, click here." The "click here" link brings up a whole lot of information in a window, but no obvious way to save it to a file. Is there a way? It would be very nice to be able to send that data to several different external vendors we're working with. The only other option I see in the dialog box is to send it to Microsoft, but this crash is likely not Microsoft's fault and there is no reason to send it to them.

  Hello all, I am storing the images in database. I get the NSData and create an image from it. Now I want to crop or draw a smaller image of the existing image in database which I am getting from the querry. I dont want to cache the images since I am using them in bulk and want to release them as soon as the view being displayed where the images are used is popped up. Is there any efficient solution to make sure that images dont consume memory at the background once their use is over... I will appreciate the lines of code for this. Tnx in advance.

I'm a .Net developer and i know what a using() does, but i dont understand why is it used on this example. So my question is if this is the best way of creating views, and what are the differences (if any) of this aproach and creating views without the using() block.

• iPad: How can I implement a scrolling timeline using a static image?

  I'm diving into iOS development and I'm building a simple timeline app using a static timeline image that I already have. The timeline image won't fit on the screen. The width of the image is about five times the width of the iPad screen, so I have to allow the user to scroll the image horizontally. Here's a mockup... For each item on the timeline, the user can tap it to receive a description at the bottom of the screen. My questions are... I was planning to use a UIScrollView with a PageControl at the bottom. Can a UIScrollView hold a single view that holds the entire timeline image or do I have to break the the timeline image up into multiple views? Are there any performance issues I need to consider when implementing this with a UIScrolLView, using a static image? Are there other approaches to implementing this scrollable timeline that I should consider other than using a UIScrollView? Thanks so much in advance for your wisdom!

• Getting 'choice' to work in Highline Ruby Gem without error and getting variable from it

  I'm having a couple of problems using Highline in Ruby, and trying to get the choice element, detailed here, to work. At the moment the following code produces the error "error: wrong number of arguments (0 for 1). Use --trace to view backtrace" How do I get the variable out of choice? At the moment I have the 'do' setup, but I have no idea about how to get the variable the user has chosen out and into a variable for use elsewhere.   I am trying to implement order management module. There are different order types (approximately about 15). Each order has a seperate view. But the actions performed on UI are same irrespective of order type. I am trying to implement a single controller capable of managing all views. Something similar to the one below: @Controller public class OrderController<F extends Order> { public F validate(F order) { } public F insert(F order) { } } I am not sure how spring mvc would be able to map request parameters properly to the order instance as it doesn't know which order instance to populate. Is it possible to achieve this with single controller or should I go with a controller for each order type and duplicate same code across all controllers?

• rails 3.1 partial_updates doesn't seem to work with password

  i have a user model with a password attribute, which gets saved as password_digest. What i want to do is have the edit user page and the edit password page separated, so that the admin doesn't need to input the password everytime he needs to change something else. For this i have made an extra action / view. My problem is that when i update the user info, i get password validation errors even though i have no password field in the form. Which leads me to the conclusion that partial_updates isn't working with the password attribute (as i have already tested in the console that it is enabled, and it is) Is this me doing something wrong, or should i approach this differently?

I have a problem, will explain how to reproduce the problem: 1- login into my page (sesion variables set as $_SESSION['logged'] = true and $_SESSION['id'] = 123 2-then inside the main menu I click logout option, code like this function logout() { session_start(); $_SESSION['id'] = null; $_SESSION['logged'] = null; unset($_SESSION); session_destroy(); require_once('Views/SessionExpiredView.php'); } 3- In the session expired view I display a link the login page, there session is null 4- I click back on the browser and click ok to resend information 5- session becomes again $_SESSION['logged'] = true and $_SESSION['id'] = 123 and I'm loggued again and able to see all the information related to the id 123 This is a security issue and I don't know what is happening!!! any suggestion will be deeply appreciated. • I'm trying to use a PHP code for panel visibility in a Panels3 based on Friendlist

  I'm trying to gain a truth value to gain panel visibility. I have a view in place in a panel to display a listing of heartbeat messages that belong to a user. The display works but I cannot figure out how to restrict access to the panel based on the user who is viewing the panel. Goal is I want the panel to only be visible to friends and some people with certain roles. The roles I can handle but I don't know enough about PHP to get it working based on friendship status. I vaguely guess it would be something like: logged user is twoway with user being viewed based on current uid argument. I know my example is nothing like the actual code but as I said I don't have much to go on here.
