• How can I start XServer in Linux through apache user triggered by Perl script running in background?

  I am trying to launch MS Office through WINE using a PERL script hosted by apache and and triggered by other application. I am getting the following error message in log files "Application trying to create a window but no driver could not be loaded. Make sure that your X server is running and that $DISPLAY is set correctly". If I run the script directly on shell prompt using root user then WINE starts XServer properly and execute MS MSoffice in addition to that if I set xhost +local:apache on shell prompt then also it works fine. How can I start the XServer from apache user?

• Strange PYTHONPATH problem

  I recently updated my python installation to 2.7 (previously 2.5), and I've noticed a strange problem where I cannot import certain modules that I created. I had no problem before. Normally, I edit the PYTHONPATH and add the directory I want to import modules. For some strange reason, I can no longer import. I checked my path in PYTHONPATH, and it looked correct. When I display the sys.path in an interpreter, I see the current directory prepended to every PYTHONPATH entry(i.e. 'c:\blah\blah c:\path\to\module') If I edit the sys.path by appending the directory that I want at the end of the list,everything works fine(i.e. 'c:\path\to\module\'). I never had to do this before. I'm on Windows 7 on two computers. Has anyone else had similar trouble?

I have tried changing the format of the date but it does not help. If I remove the dates it works fine. Any help would be appreciated.

  I have the lat/lon of 2 points on the earth. They are really close together, <10m. Let's assume the earth is flat. How do I calculate the distance between them in metres? I know about tools (PostGIS, etc.) that can do this correctly, however I'm just doing a rough and ready type, and I'm OK with low accuracy. At such small sizes a difference of 1% is only 10cm, which is fine for me. I'm doing this in stock python. I'm OK with a standard Euclidean distance thing.

• javascript code to prevent screensaver from starting

  Hi all, I am completely new to javascript programming and I have a question that I didn't manage to find an answer for anywhere. I have recently put together a simple slideshow to view the photos remotely that I host on my home computer. This by itself works fine. The problem I run into is that when I'm viewing photos I don't interact with the hardware, which after some time causes the monitor to switch off. This is particularly annoying when watching photos on my mobile phone. My question is: is there a way to prevent this from happening? I am thinking in the direction of faking a mouse or other event every time I refresh the photo, but I have no clue how to do that and if it is possible. Any help is greatly appreciated!

  I'm trying to link the Boost Serialization Library to my Code. IN ...." query on the results. This works fine using the following. (return results with id's ID1 ID2 or ID3) sQuery = "ID1,ID2,ID3"; string[] aSearch = sQuery.Split(','); items = items.Where(i => aSearch.Contains(i.ID)); What I would like to be able to do, is perform the same operation, but not have to specify the i.ID part. So if I have the string of the field name I want to apply the "WHERE IN" clause to, how can I use this in the .Contains() method?

• Shared memory of same DLL in different 32 bit processes is sometimes different in a terminal session

  We have an 32 bit application consisting of some processes. They communicate with shared memory of a DLL used by every process. Shared memory is build with global variables in C++ by "#pragma data_seg ("Shared")". When running this application sometime during starting a new process in addition to an existing (first) process we observe that the shared memory of both processes is not the same. All new started processes cannot communicate with the first process. After stopping all of our processes and restarting the application (with some processes) everything works fine. But sometime or other after successfully starting and finishing new processes the problem occurs again. Running on all other Windows versions or terminal sessions on Windows server 2003 our application never got this problem. Is there any new "feature" on Windows server 2008 that might disturb the hamony of our application?

  I have a div that I want to toggle between displaying or not when a user clicks on a piece of text. I have a javascript function that toggles a div on or off. That works fine. What I don't know how to do is to have a triangle that points to the right or down depending on whether the div is open. My HTML looks like this: <a onclick="toggleDiv('myDiv');">Click here to expand or close div</a> <div id="myDiv" style="display:none"> ... </div> How do I add one of those triangles and have it point the right way, ideally with just HTML, Javascript, and CSS? The triangle would appear to the left of the "Click here..." string. Thanks.

• Django logging in and out - doesn't work if prepend_www set

  I'm a Django beginner. My site - let's call it abc.com - works fine, letting users log in and out (having originally registered via Django registratiaon). If it's relevant, my virtuahosts file has ServerName abc.com and ServerAlias www.abc.com directives. I don't want my visitors to sense that both abc.com and www.abc.com exist, and so discovered Django's prepend_www setting, which works as intended. In addition to working as intended, however, there's a side effect that disables logging in and out when visiting the www. variant of my site.

Now my problem is that I have some hundreds of users and I would like to inform them ALL about certain updates. Is there a way to send a notification to all users? Do I really have to push them all by their registration ids? On the server side I am using PHP and CURL as it is shown in many examples around here...

  I have a Voip based app. So i thought of customizing SipDroid open source project. As the starting phase i have changed all the package names, Class names etc. It perfectly works on my Samsung Galaxy Y. But i tried with many other mobiles, Voice is not audible. Call is being initialized but could not hear voice. In Samsung galaxy young, voice is clearly audible for both incoming and outgoing calls. But in all the other phones i have tested i can hear only beep sounds. What could be the problem? I tried calling the other mobile(that has Sip Droid) with my Samsung Galaxy Young(customized app) I could hear voice in my app but could not hear in Sipdroid. But when i tried calling Sipdroid to Sipdroid, it works fine in all the mobiles.

  I have seen a lot of posts about this, and it seems like the code below should work. I have created an SD Card image and added it to the emulator (and that works fine). Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK); intent.setType("image/*"); //intent.setAction(Intent.ACTION_GET_CONTENT); startActivityForResult(intent, 1); It does launch and allow selection of images, but when I click on an image, everything exits and the emulator returns to the home screen, not the back to my app. My onActivityResult is never called either. What am I missing?

• Possible conflict with jquery libraries

  http://www.pro-marketing-invest.de/golz-racing/reservierungen I made a wp plugin which makes online reservations for rent a car but I tested it locally with a different wp theme and it worked fine! but when I installed it in this web site for some reason the jquery functions dont work! when I press the fortsetzen button it wont open the other step (its a form with 4 steps). I think it is because of the other jquery functions or libraries that the theme uses, I am frustrated I dont know what is causing this! Any ideas?

Let's assuming I'm using PHP or maybe even Ruby to do this. I would need a way to process the emails and dump them into a DB or something.   Hi all, After I quit simulator and click build the app from XCode, the iPhone Simulator loading and my app will be install and run. But the app just show only Default image (finish the applicationDidFinishLaunching method - I logs it) and do nothing. I can't do anything in Simulator, event click the "Home" button of Simulator. But the other time, when Simulator already running, I select the "Build" button in XCode and everything is fine. Can you tell me why and how does this issue effect my app when I build it with real device? Thanks a lot!

I was trying to start SQL Server in a local context, and it was fine, it worked... But the point is that I have to start it up from a remote machine. I can see SQL Server status from a remote server, but I can't start it up... Maybe it gets problems because of user and password, but where to specify the login to the remote machine? • In Android, does _id have to be present in any table created?

  I am trying to create a table to only has a foreign key, not a primary key. I am getting this error: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: column '_id' does not exist I read a tutorial that the primary key must be _id, with no explanation. And that is fine. But what if I do not want a primary key! What if I only want a foreign key. I am assuming this is where my problem lies. The schemas below are what I have. • cakephp htaccess for production install

  So, I have cakephp installed in what I believed to be the appropriate way for production code with actual cake files above the public_html folder. The app folder is removed from the cake folder and placed at the same level. Loading the home page works fine with the databases and the debug working. However, in trying to run some test files I get a 404. Obviously, I need some way to direct something like www.example.com/posts/index to the proper location. I am not sure as to why this is necessary since the index.php file tells cake where the app directory is located? Also, if I need to use the .htaccess file, how do I point to the proper location and exactly what am I pointed at?
