• Overflow on UILabels

  I have a table view that I am customizing and I am adding a UILabel as a subview of the contentView, and I want the number of lines to be relatively consistent. I set the numberOfLines property to be 3 so it can't go more than that, but there are still some that overflow onto the 4th line. If it overflows, I want to add a a trailing ... How can I figure out if it overflows? I've tried truncating at different character counts of my string, but since I am using lineBreakMode = UILineBreakModeWordWrap the number of characters doesn't really predict the number of lines. Is there a way to find out the number of lines your UILabel is using?

The argument assignment is a hash-table make with (make-hash), so it should be fine. I believe the problem I have is related to returning false at the end of the loop, if no recursive returns a non-false value (which should be a valid assignment).

  Hello all, Here's a dumb question which I can't find an answer to: I have a table which contains 20 fields, a few of which are date/time. I am interested in pulling all the fields. I would like to pull the datetime fields using the to_char function but don't want to individually list out all the other fields. Is there an easy way to do this? I tried select *, tochar(dtfield) as dt2 and select tochar(dtfield) as dt2, * and both give errors. Thanks for all your help! JC

The zip_code table has over 40k records and this might be the issue. It currently takes up to 15 seconds to return a list of about 20 items! What can I do to make this query more efficient?

I have to pull the prices from the text file to show in a report how much each procedure costs.   Hello, guys! I have a problem and I dont know what is better solution. Okay, I have 2 tables: posts(id, title), posts_tags(post_id, tag_id). I have next task: must select posts with tags ids for example 4, 10 and 11. Not exactly, post could have any other tags at the same time. So, how I could do it more optimized? Creating temporary table in each query? Or may be some kind of stored procedure? In the future, user could ask script to select posts with any count of tags (it could be 1 tag only or 10 at the same time) and I must be sure that method that I will choose would be the best method for my problem.   Using Shiro we have a great security framework embedded in our enterprise application running on GF. You define users, roles, permissions and we can control at any fine-grain level if a user can access the application, a certain page or even click a specific button. Is there a recipe or pattern, that allows on top of that, to restrict a user from seeing certain data ? Sample: You have a customer table for 3 factories (part of one company). An admin user can see all customer records, but the user at the local factory must not see any customer data of other factories (for whatever reason).   I have a requirement to only save data to a table in a database (I don't need to read it) If the record already exists I want to update it otherwise I will add it. It usually exists. My entity context might already hold the object .. if it does I want to find it and use it again without causing it to refresh from the database when I 'find' it i.e. The context holds a collection of entities (rows of a database) I want to find an entity in the collection and only want the context to go to the database if entity is not in the collection. I don't care about the current values of the entity .. I just want to update them. Hope this is clear ..... thanks

  I'm trying to iterate through all the empty textboxes in a table and change its background colour. I'm using the following JQuery code: $("#btn2").click(function() { var emptyTextBoxes = $('input:text').filter(function() { return this.value == ""; }); emptyTextBoxes.each(function() { this.css('background-color', '#ffff00'); // $('#Col3Txtbx').css('background-color', '#ffff00'); }); }); This does not seem to refer to the textbox which seems strange to me. When I uncomment out the particular textbox, it does reset the background colour. Can someone explain to me what 'This' is referring to?

  I am having some issues with Entity Framework in VS2010 The problem I'm getting is described very well here... http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/adonetefx/thread/cacf6a76-09a8-4c90-9502-d8b87c2f6bea It's basically happening when a Foreign key is pointed at the primary key of another table...but if I take off the StoreGeneratedPattern as "Identity", then it tries to insert a value into the identity field ** EDIT So, what it seems to be is that EF4 can't handle a null relationship when the primary key is set to StoreGeneratedPattern="Identity". If I create a FK pointing to this primary key, and make it nullable (effectively creating a 0...M relationship), then it throws this compilation error. Removing StoreGeneratedPattern="Identity" fixes the issue, but causes issues elseware It works if the foreign key is set to not nullable

  After I have validated the receipt against the App Store from my PHP server, the App Store sends me back a JSON response with "status" : 0 "receipt" : ( .... ) One of the receipt items is "purchase_date" which contains the following string (example) "2010-02-09 19:17:04 Etc/GMT" I'm trying to establish a subscription service and would like to add 3 months to this date and then write that expiry date into a MySQL table. Is there a string-to-date type function in PHP that can allow me to achieve the adding of 3 months? I have found this example which looks like it adds 1 month to a date: $date = date("Y-m-d");// current date $date = strtotime(date("Y-m-d", strtotime($date)) . " +1 month"); But I'm not sure how I can turn the string passed by the App Store into a PHP recognised date.

  I have a table full of bugs. The BugTitle is the page erroring and I also capture the error line. I would like to build an SQL Query that selects the top 10 bugs based on bugtitle and error line. I have this query: SELECT COUNT(BugTitle) AS BugCount, BugTitle, ErrLine FROM Bugs WHERE BugDate >= DateAdd(Day, -30, DateDiff(Day, 0, GetDate())) GROUP BY BugTitle, ErrLine ORDER BY BugCount, ErrLine DESC But I'm not sure if it's correct. I'm pretty sure that my test data only has 1 bug that happens on the same line but that's not showing up with this query. Can anyone help?

I am able to dynamically add a single instance of this by placing a fixed placeholder in the page. I am now trying to work out how to add more than one, given that I don't know how many might be needed I don't want to hard code the Placeholders. Surprisingly, I find that the most challenging task is to keep my website up & running. My site is being hacked again and again no matter what I do - I blocked the FTP connections, changed the Joomla (CMS) database table names, installed all latest patches and what not. The web site supports the product (over 1800 users now...) by generating licenses, support forums, documentation, galleries etc. The product which is a winforms application cannot be marketed without this web site. I ask this because I am currently writing functionality to, for example, get all Articles from a Table in the Business Logic Layer. So I'm kind of lost now. • TypeInitilazationException When Getting an NHibernate Session

  I’ve run into what appears to be an NHibernate config problem. Basically, I ran up a simple proof of concept persistence integration test using NUnit, the test simply querys an Oracle database and successfully returns the last record received by the underlying table. However, when the assemblies are taken out of the NUnit test environment and deployed as they would be for an actual application build, my call for an NHibernate session results in a ‘TypeInitializationException’ whilst executing the code line: sessionFactory = New Configuration().Configure().BuildSessionFactory() The application is a vb.net console app running against an Oracle 9.2 database, using a ‘coding framework’ published on the web by Bill McCafferty entitled 'NHibernate Best Practices with ASP.NET' (pre S#harp Architecture). • DBLinq not generating where clause

  I'm testing out DBLinq-0.18 and DBLinq from SVN Trunk with MySQL and Postgresql. I'm only using a very simple query but on both database DBLinq is not generating a Where clause. I have confirmed this by turning on statement logging on Postgresql to check exactly what request DBLinq is sending. My Linq query is: MyDB db = new MyDB(new NpgsqlConnection("Database=database;Host=localhost;User Id=postgres;Password=password")); var customers = from customer in db.Customers where customer.CustomerUserName == "test" select customer; The query works ok but the SQL generated by DBLinq is of the form: select customerusername, customerpassword .... from public.customers There is no Where clause which means DBLinq must be pulling the whole table down before running the Linq query. Has anyone had any experience with DBLinq and know what I could be doing wrong?

• Alright to truncate database tables when also using Hibernate?

  Is it OK to truncate tables while at the same time using Hibernate to insert data? We parse a big XML file with many relationships into Hibernate POJO's and persist to the DB. We are now planning on purging existing data at certain points in time by truncating the tables. Is this OK? It seems to work fine. We don't use Hibernate's second level cache. One thing I did notice, which is fine, is that when inserting we generate primary keys using Hibernate's @GeneratedValue where Hibernate just uses a key value one greater than the highest value in the table - and even though we are truncating the tables, Hibernate remembers the prior value and uses prior value + 1 as opposed to starting over at 1. This is fine, just unexpected. Note that the reason we do truncate as opposed to calling delete() on the Hibernate POJO's is for speed. We have gazillions of rows of data, and truncate is just so much faster.

  I'm trying to write a LINQ query and am having problems. I'm not sure if lambda expressions are the answer or not but I think they may be. I have two combo boxes on my form: "State" and "Color". I want to select Widgets from my database based on the values of these two dropdowns. My widgets can be in one of the following states: Not Started, In Production, In Finishing, In Inventory, Sold. Widgets can have any color in the 'color' table in the database. The 'state' combobox has selections "Not Sold," "In Production/Finishing", "Not Started," "In Production," "In Finishing," "In Inventory," "Sold." (I hope these are self-explanatory.) The 'color' dropdown has "All Colors," and a separate item for each color in the database. How can I create a LINQ query to select the widgets I want from the database based on the dropdowns?

• Why can I not view foreign language characters in my mysql DB?

  I am inserting the following characters into my DB: ?? / ?? This is the meta tag on the page that is inserting the characters: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> I have altered all the columns in my table that is holding the characters to be utf8_unicode_ci The foreign characters show up like so in the DB: 汉字 / 漢字 When I use a sql statement to display those foreign characters on a page, they display correctly again as: ?? / ?? I am guessing I have some setting that is not correct in my DB, since it stores it correctly, but does not display it correctly. What can i do to make the foreign language characters to display correctly in my DB?

'/' forward slash in c#.

  Hi, I'm trying to use a custom UITableViewCell, and I've placed it in the same nib file as the UITableView controller. For this, the files are: NTItems.h, NTItems.m and NTItems.xib. I have defined the cell in the header file: IBOutlet UITableViewCell *cellview; and I've correctly applied the property: nonatomic, retain so it's there. In the m file - I've synthesized the variable device and am using this to get the custom cell: if(cell == nil){ cell = self.cellview; } However, when I load the table, I get this horrible mess: There should be more than 1 cell showing data as well. On another note, how do I map the labels to the text which is to be displayed?

What I would like is the first and last rows of the cluster of entries. This is fairly easy to achieve by retrieving all the rows and looping through them in order of start time, but I'd like to have it in SQL if possible. I'm using SQL Server 2008, thanks.

• Model Binding an IList of selected items only

  I have an action method setup: public ActionResult Delete(IList<Product> products) And a table of products in my view. I have got Model Binding working so that on submit I can populate the products list. But I would like to populate it with only the products that are selected via a checkbox. I think I could do it by changing the action method to this: public ActionResult Delete(IList<Product> products, IList<int> toDelete) And passing the list of check boxes to the toDelete but I would really like to avoid changing the method signature if possible. Is there a way to pass only the selected items? Or am I going to have to write a custom ModelBinder?
