  • Spring - Transaction Readonly

    - by AAK
Hello Gurus! Just wanted your expert opinions on declarative transaction management for Spring. Here is my setup - A. DAO Layer is Plain old JDBC using jdbcTemplete (No hibernate etc) B. Service Layer is POJO with declarative trasnactions as follows - save*, readonly=false, rollback for Throwable Things work fine with above setup. However when I say get*, readonly=true I see errors in my log file saying - Database connection cannot be marked as readonly. This happens for all get* methods in Service Layer. Now my questions - A. Do I have to say get* as readonly? All my get* methods are pure read DB operations. I do not wish to run them in any transaction context. How serious is the above error? B. When I remove the get* confiiguration, I do not see the errors, morever all my simple get* operations are performed without transactions. Is this the way to go? C. Why would anyone want to have transactional methods where readonly = true? Is there any practical significance of this configuration? Thank you! As always your resposes are much appreciated!

  • Hibernate sequence should only generate when ID is <=0

    - by Tim Leys
Hi all, I'm using the folowing sequence in my code. (I got the sequence and @Id @SequenceGenerator(name = "S912_PRO_SEQ", sequenceName = "S912_PRO_SEQ", allocationSize = 1) @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.SEQUENCE, generator = "S912_PRO_SEQ") @Column(name = "PRO_ID", unique = true, nullable = false, precision = 9, scale = 0) public int getId() { return this.id; } And using the following sequence / triggers in my DB. CREATE SEQUENCE S912_PRO_SEQ nomaxvalue minvalue 20; CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER S912_PRO_B_I_TRG BEFORE INSERT ON S912_project REFERENCING OLD AS OLD NEW AS NEW FOR EACH ROW ENABLE begin IF :NEW.pro_ID IS NULL THEN select S912_PRO_SEQ.nextval into :new.pro_ID from dual; END IF; end; I was wondering if there is a way to let hibernate generate a sequence ONLY if the ID is <=0 (not set) or if the ID already exists. I know for most cases my trigger would fix the situation. But I do not want to rely completely on it. I hope someone can help me out :p

  • MySQL create memory leak in Tomcat

    - by mabuzer
I have set a JDBCRealm for web-app inside tomcat, and when I reload it I got this from tomcat: SEVERE: A web application registered the JBDC driver [com.mysql.jdbc.Driver] but failed to unregister it when the web application was stopped. To prevent a memory leak, the JDBC Driver has been forcibly unregistered. I use tomcat 6.0.24, with MySQL Connector 5.1.10,,,

  • In an ExpandableListView, how can I show one additional line at the end of the child results?

    - by fiXedd
I have created a custom ExpandableListAdapter and everything works properly. What I'd like to be able to do is in each of the groups add a different type of child to the end. I have tried adding 1 to the getChildrenCount() number and then testing isLastChild in the getChildView() method, but that doesn't seem to work. If a group has three children what I have working looks like this: Group NormalChild NormalChild NormalChild But I'd really like something like this: Group NormalChild NormalChild NormalChild AlternateChild The idea being that the AlternateChild could be a link to more info about the group. Any Ideas? EDIT: ListView has addFooterView() which will allow you to add a footer to a whole ListView... wonder how to add them to the ExpandableListView's children, or if it's even possible

  • Classloading order in JBoss

    - by Spiderman
I'd like to know if the default behavior of JBoss server (4.2.3.GA in my case) is loading the classes in parent-first or parent-last mode. And in case it work as I suspect in parent-last mode (i.e. first trying to load classes from the application's WEB-INF/lib and only if they are not found go to server\lib), how can I configure it to work in the opposite- first trying to load classes from outside and only looking inside the application afterwards.

  • String Manipulation: Spliting Delimitted Data

    - by Milli Szabo
I need to split some info from a asterisk delimitted data. Data Format: NAME*ADRESS LINE1*ADDRESS LINE2 Rules: 1. Name should be always present 2. Address Line 1 and 2 might not be 3. There should be always three asterisks. Samples: MR JONES A ORTEGA*ADDRESS 1*ADDRESS2* Name: MR JONES A ORTEGA Address Line1: ADDRESS 1 Address Line2: ADDRESS 2 A PAUL*ADDR1** Name: A PAUL Address Line1: ADDR1 Address Line2: Not Given My algo is: 1. Iterate through the characters in the line 2. Store all chars in a temp variables until first * is found. Reject the data if no char is found before first occurence of asterisk. If some chars found, use it as the name. 3. Same as step 2 for finding address line 1 and 2 except that this won't reject the data if no char is found My algo looks ugly. The code looks uglier. Spliting using //* doesn't work either since name can be replaced with address line 1 If the data is *Address 1*Address2, split will create two indexes in the array where index 0 will have the value of Address 1 and index 2 will have the value of Address2. Where's the name. Was there a name? Any suggestion?

  • Changing content of HTMLDocument displayed in a JTextPane

    - by kayahr
I'm displaying some tables as HTML code (rendered by a Freemarker template) with a JTextPane. I also have some HTML links in this HTML output which can be used to interact with the values of the table (For example "Delete a row" and stuff like this). Currently I always recreate the whole HTML output on each change and replace the whole document in the JTextPane with the new one. This is getting really slow and the JTextPane always changes the scroll position when I do this. Is it possible to change only parts of the HTML code during runtime without replacing the whole document? In a real browser I would use the DOM and do something like document.getElementById("price").innerHTML = "$123.44". Is something like that possible with the HTMLDocument in a JTextPane?

  • Can Box Layout accept size of included elements?

    - by Roman
I used myPanel.setLayout(new BoxLayout(myPanel, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS)); to order panels vertically (one under another one). But myPanel defined in the shown way change the included panel. In more details, it tries to set the same hight and width for the included panels. Can it be changed? Can BoxLayout adopt size of the included elements?

  • How should I read from a buffered reader?

    - by Roman
I have the following example of reading from a buffered reader: while ((inputLine = input.readLine()) != null) { System.out.println("I got a message from a client: " + inputLine); } The code in the loop println will be executed whenever something appears in the buffered reader (input in this case). In my case, if a client-application writes something to the socket, the code in the loop (in the server-application) will be executed. But I do not understand how it works. inputLine = input.readLine() waits until something appears in the buffered reader and when something appears there it returns true and the code in the loop is executed. But when null can be returned. There is another question. The above code was taken from a method which throws Exception and I use this code in the run method of the Thread. And when I try to put throws Exception before the run the compiler complains: overridden method does not throw exception. Without the throws exception I have another complain from the compiler: unreported exception. So, what can I do?

  • Method return type

    - by sarah xia
Hi, In my company, a system is designed to have 3 layers. Layer1 is responsible for business logic handling. Layer3 is calling back end systems. Layer2 sits between the two layers so that layer1 doesn't need to know about the back end systems. To replay information from layer3, layer2 needs to define interface to layer1. For example, layer1 wants to check if a PIN from user is correct. It calls layer2 checkPin() method and then layer2 calls the relevant back end system. The checkPin() results could be: correctPin, inCorrectPin and internalError. At the moment, we defined the return type 'int'. So if layer2 returns 0, it means correctPin; if 1 is returned, it means inCorrectPin; if 9 is returned it means internalError. It works. However I feel a bit uneasy about this approach. Are there better ways to do it? For example define an enum CheckPinResult{CORRECT_PIN,INCORRECT_PIN,INTERNAL_ERROR}, and return CheckPinResult type? Thanks, Sarah

  • How do I get a JPanel with an empty JLabel to take up space in a GridBagLayout

    - by user2888663
    I am working on a GUI for a project at school. I am using a GridBagLayout in swing. I want to have a label indicating the input(a type of file @ x = 0, y = 0), followed by another label(the actual file name once selected @ x = 1, y = 0), followed by a browse button for a file chooser( @ x = 2, y = 0). The label at (1,0) is initially blank, however I want the area that the text will occupy to take up some space when the label contains no text. I also want the space between the label at (0,0) and the button at (2,0) to remain constant. To achieve this, I'm trying to put the label onto a panel and then play with the layouts. However I can't seam to achieve the desired results. Could anyone offer some suggestions? The next three rows of the GridBagLayout will be laid out exactly the same way. Here is a link to a screen shot of the GUI. calibrationFileSelectionValueLabel = new JLabel("",Label.LEFT); calibrationFileSelectionValueLabel.setName("calibrationFileSelection"); calibrationFileSelectionValueLabel.setMinimumSize(new Dimension(100,0)); calibrationFileSelectionValuePanel = new JPanel(); calibrationFileSelectionValuePanel.setBorder(BorderFactory.createEtchedBorder()); calibrationFileSelectionValuePanel.add(calibrationFileSelectionValueLabel); c.gridx = 0; c.gridy = 0; c.fill = GridBagConstraints.NONE; filesPanel.add(calibrationFileLabel,c); c.gridy = 1; filesPanel.add(frequencyFileLabel,c); c.gridy = 2; filesPanel.add(sampleFileLabel,c); c.gridy = 3; filesPanel.add(outputFileLabel,c); c.gridx = 1; c.gridy = 0; c.fill = GridBagConstraints.BOTH; // filesPanel.add(calibrationFileSelection,c); filesPanel.add(calibrationFileSelectionValuePanel,c); c.gridy = 1; // filesPanel.add(frequencyFileSelection,c); filesPanel.add(frequencyFileSelectionValueLabel,c); c.gridy = 2; // filesPanel.add(sampleFileSelection,c); filesPanel.add(sampleFileSelectionValueLabel,c); c.gridy = 3; // filesPanel.add(outputFileSelection,c); filesPanel.add(outputFileSelectionValueLabel,c); c.gridx = 2; c.gridy = 0; c.fill = GridBagConstraints.NONE; filesPanel.add(calibrationFileSelectionButton,c); c.gridy = 1; filesPanel.add(frequencyFileSelectionButton,c); c.gridy = 2; filesPanel.add(sampleFileSelectionButton,c); c.gridy = 3; filesPanel.add(createOutputFileButton,c); panelForFilesPanelBorder = new JPanel(); panelForFilesPanelBorder.setBorder(BorderFactory.createCompoundBorder(new EmptyBorder(5,10,5,10), BorderFactory.createEtchedBorder())); panelForFilesPanelBorder.add(filesPanel); buttonsPanel = new JPanel(); buttonsPanel.setLayout(new FlowLayout(FlowLayout.CENTER)); buttonsPanel.setBorder(BorderFactory.createCompoundBorder(new EmptyBorder(5,10,10,10), BorderFactory.createEtchedBorder())); buttonsPanel.add(startButton); buttonsPanel.add(stopButton); basePanel.add(panelForFilesPanelBorder); basePanel.add(numericInputPanel); basePanel.add(buttonsPanel);

  • Ghost activity in android

    - by Ari
My application works as follow: On start I have some AppStartActivity which does something, finishes itself and starts MainActivity if user is logged in or LoginActivity otherwise. LoginActivity finishes itself and starts MainActivity when user log in successfully. On MainActivity I have SomeActivity from which user can logout. Activity stack for this situation is MainActivity > SomeActivity. It is correct, back button works well. When user click LogOut button there is a problem. I need to show LoginActivity but I don't want to have MainActivity and SomeActivity on activity stack anymore. I could resolve this problem if I wouldn't finish AppStartActivity. I could go back then with flag FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP and it would work well. But here is a problem with back button. I don't want user to come back to this activity with back button. I want it to exit app instead. UPDATED: Flags FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK and FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TASK would be best, but I need it working in API level 9.

  • Why does "request.getUserPrincipal().getName()" sometimes return a blank string?

    - by Marcus
Has somebody an idea, why the getName method of the requests getUserPrincipal Method sometimes provides an empty String? Most of the time it returns the correct user name but not every time. This behaviour does occur randonmly. I can start the application, run the command and it works. The next time I start the application and run the command (exactly the same way as before!) it does not work... Any ideas?

  • How do you document anonymous functions ?

    - by clutch
I'm specifically referring to JavaScript anonymous function but this could be relevant to other languages. I like to use JSDoc notations in my scripts because I know other people will be hacking at it sooner or later. When i have pretty complex anonymous function how do people document it so that it gets picked up by Eclipse and other IDE's that understand JSDoc or JavaDoc notations? /** * Blah Blah blah * * @param Object Blah blah blah * @return Blah Blah Blah * @type Object */ function foo(this) { ...... this.bar = function () { ... complex code .....}; ...... return obj; } Thanks

  • When are references declared in a switch statement?

    - by sandis
To my surprise this code works fine: int i = 2; switch(i) { case 1: String myString = "foo"; break; case 2: myString = "poo"; System.out.println(myString); } But the String reference should never be declared? Could it be that all variables under every case always are declared no matter what, or how is this resolved?
