  • Android Layout question

    Hello, I need to create a map with items on it (the map consists of a drawable object, which represents a room) and I thought about using buttons with background images for the items so that they are clickable. I guess the AbsoluteLayout fits here the best, but unfortunately it's deprecated. What layout would you recommend me for this kind of application ? Is there another layout which supports X/Y coordinates ?

  • possible to auto zoom out if user's resolution < x ?

    my site is aimed purely at the laptop market (dont ask why or argue!), all my users (or 95%+) we on a screen width of 1200+, netbooks are now taking off, with a resolution of 1024 wide. my site still looks great on a netbook if you zoom out once (ctrl-minus), but i don't want to rely on users knowing about ctrl-minus. what are my options besides redesign? I'm keen not to have zoom buttons on my page. is there a javascript zoomer outer?!!!

    My app allows the user to access their corporate voice mail. Normally, durring a phone call when the user holds the device up to their ear, the screen shuts off so they wont accidentally push buttons with their face. I would like to make my app do the same thing when the user is listening to their voice mail. anyone know how to do this?

A subclass of UIButton is a little inconvenient to use in IB, so I'd prefer to add the behavior to UIButton itself.     Is it possible to change the behavior of the yui text editor so that when you make markup changes (via the toolbar bar buttons), for example changing from a paragraph to say a heading or to a list, and you dont have any text selected it assumes you mean the current block that the cursor is in So to change a paragraph to a heading rather than selecting the whole line you just place the cursor somewhere in the paragraph and select heading from the styles drop down.

    Running through an iPhone SDK book and one of the examples has me creating a table and then later adding a UISegmentedControl to the table for sorting. I dutifully did this in IB, and it looks great: When I run it in the simulator or my phone, it's totally squished: The buttons work perfectly, it's just they are not sizing according to their content.     Is there any way to disable keyboard tabStop for a ButtonColumn inside a dataGrid? I want the buttons there to be only enabled through mouse-clicks, because sometimes the grid can be large and I want that pressing "tabs" will skip the grid and move to the other controls on the page.
