  • Need to Release UIWebView Delegate?

    - by Chris
    I have a UIWebView named wView. I want to use webViewDidFinishLoad: in my class, so I am setting the class as the delegate for wView by using this line: wView.delegate = self; Everything loads properly, but when I close the UIWebView, the App crashes. If I comment out the wView.delegate = self, it works and does not crash, but then I can't use webViewDidFinishLoad: - any ideas? Do I need to release something?

  • .NET EventHandlers - Generic or no?

    - by Chris Marasti-Georg
    Every time I start in deep in a C# project, I end up with lots of events that really just need to pass a single item. I stick with the EventHandler/EventArgs practice, but what I like to do is have something like: public delegate void EventHandler<T>(object src, EventArgs<T> args); public class EventArgs<T>: EventArgs { private T item; public EventArgs(T item) { this.item = item; } public T Item { get { return item; } } } Later, I can have my public event EventHandler<Foo> FooChanged; public event EventHandler<Bar> BarChanged; However, it seems that the standard for .NET is to create a new delegate and EventArgs subclass for each type of event. Is there something wrong with my generic approach? EDIT: The reason for this post is that I just re-created this in a new project, and wanted to make sure it was ok. Actually, I was re-creating it as I posted. I found that there is a generic EventHandler<TEventArgs, so you don't need to create the generic delegate, but you still need the generic EventArgs<T class, because TEventArgs: EventArgs. Another EDIT: One downside (to me) of the built-in solution is the extra verbosity: public event EventHandler<EventArgs<Foo>> FooChanged; vs. public event EventHandler<Foo> FooChanged; It can be a pain for clients to register for your events though, because the System namespace is imported by default, so they have to manually seek out your namespace, even with a fancy tool like Resharper... Anyone have any ideas pertaining to that?

  • BackgroundWorker Not working in VSTO

    - by Chris
    I have a background worker. Before I invoke the worker I disable a button and make a gif visible. I then invoke the runworkerasync method and it runs fine until comleteion. On the 'RunWorkerCompleted()' I get a cross thread error. Any idea why? private void buttonRun_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (comboBoxFiscalYear.SelectedIndex != -1 && !string.IsNullOrEmpty(textBoxFolderLoc.Text)) { try { u = new UpdateDispositionReports( Convert.ToInt32(comboBoxFiscalYear.SelectedItem.ToString()) , textBoxFolderLoc.Text , Properties.Settings.Default.TemplatePath , Properties.Settings.Default.ConnStr); this.buttonRun.Enabled = false; this.pictureBox1.Visible = true; BackgroundWorker bw = new BackgroundWorker(); bw.DoWork += new DoWorkEventHandler(bw_DoWork); bw.RunWorkerCompleted += new RunWorkerCompletedEventHandler(bw_RunWorkerCompleted); bw.RunWorkerAsync(); //backgroundWorker1.RunWorkerAsync(); } catch (Exception ex) { MessageBox.Show("Unable to process.\nError:" + ex.Message, Properties.Settings.Default.AppName); } } } void bw_RunWorkerCompleted(object sender, RunWorkerCompletedEventArgs e) { buttonRun.Enabled = true; pictureBox1.Visible = false; } void bw_DoWork(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e) { u.Execute(); }

  • PHP MYSQLI query error?

    - by Chris Leah
    Hey This is my login script, using PHP5 and MYSQLi, I just had help spotting errors in my query, but still it will not let me login, even though the username and password are correct and in the database, it just keeps returning the error: your username and password do not match any in our db. But I know they do lol...could any body spot the problem? //Check if the form has been submitted if (isset($_POST['login'])) { //Check if username and password are empty if ($_POST['username']!='' && $_POST['password']!='') { //Create query to check username and password to database $validate_user = $mysqli->query('SELECT id, username, password, active FROM users WHERE = username = "'.$mysqli->real_escape_string($_POST['username']).'" AND password = "'.$mysqli->real_escape_string(md5($_POST['password'])).'"'); //We check if the query returns true if ($validate_user->num_rows == 1) { $row = $validate_user->fetch_assoc(); //Check if the user has activated there account if ($row['activated'] == 1) { $_SESSION['id'] = $row['id']; $_SESSION['logged_in'] = true; Header('Location: ../main/index.php'); } //Show this error if activation returns as 0 else { $error = '<p class="error">Please activate your account.</p>'; } } //Show this error if the details matched any in the db else { $error = '<p class="error">Your username and password are not in our database!</p>'; } } //Show this error if the username and password field have not been entered else { $error = '<p class="error">Please enter your username and password.</p>'; } }

  • Legal uses of setjmp and GCC

    - by Chris Lutz
    Using GCC (4.0 for me), is this legal: if(__builtin_expect(setjmp(buf) != 0, 1)) { // handle error } else { // do action } I found a discussion saying it caused a problem for GCC back in 2003, but I would imagine that they would have fixed it by now. The C standard says that it's illegal to use setjmp unless it's one of four conditions, the relevant one being this: one operand of a relational or equality operator with the other operand an integer constant expression, with the resulting expression being the entire controlling expression of a selection or iteration statement; But if this is a GCC extension, can I guarantee that it will work under for GCC, since it's already nonstandard functionality? I tested it and it seemed to work, though I don't know how much testing I'd have to do to actually break it. (I'm hiding the call to __builtin_expect behind a macro, which is defined as a no-op for non-GCC, so it would be perfectly legal for other compilers.)

  • Bash: Terminate on Timeout/File Overflow while Executing Command

    - by Chris
    I'm writing a mock-grading script in bash. It's supposed to execute a C program which will give some output (which I redirect to a file.) I'm trying to (1) make it timeout after a certain duration and also (2) terminate if the output file reaches a certain file size limit. Not sure how to go about either of these. Any help? Thanks.

  • Git already up to date unless I reset

    - by Chris
    I have a cloned repo I use for the live site and I have it pull from a bare repo. For some reason every time I execute "git pull" I get the already up to date message. But it's not up to date and not updated. If I do a git reset --hard HEAD^ and then git pull again, the changes come in. What's the problem here and how do I fix it so that git pull will pull and merge changes in without needing a hard reset?

  • Render ASP in pages with .html extension in Windows CE

    - by Chris
    I want to be able to use the .html extension to render ASP pages. I am using Windows CE 6 at the moment with the default web server, ASP is turned on. I have attempted to add the "ScriptMap" (via) key to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMM\HTTPD\ScriptMap subkey with the value ".html"="\Windows\asp.dll" but this doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong?

  • Random value from Flags enum

    - by Chris Porter
    Say I have a function that accepts an enum decorated with the Flags attribute. If the value of the enum is a combination of more than one of the enum elements how can I extract one of those elements at random? I have the following but it seems there must be a better way. [Flags] enum Colours { Blue = 1, Red = 2, Green = 4 } public static void Main() { var options = Colours.Blue | Colours.Red | Colours.Green; var opts = options.ToString().Split(','); var rand = new Random(); var selected = opts[rand.Next(opts.Length)].Trim(); var myEnum = Enum.Parse(typeof(Colours), selected); Console.WriteLine(myEnum); Console.ReadLine(); }

  • Javascript WebGL error

    - by Chris
    Hi I can load 400 textured cylinders using o3d webl, as soon as I push the test upto 600 cylinders I get the following.. uncaught exception: [Exception... "Could not convert JavaScript argument arg 0 [nsIDOMWebGLRenderingContext.getShaderInfoLog" nsresult: "0x80570009 (NS_ERROR_XPC_BAD_CONVERT-JS)" location: "JS frame :: file:///d:/o3d-webgl/effect.js :: :: line 181" data: no) This is the error from minefield, does anyone know what this means? This is the function: o3d.Effect.prototype.bindAttributesAndLinkIfReady = function() { if (this.vertexShaderLoaded_ && this.fragmentShaderLoaded_) { var semanticMap = o3d.Effect.semanticMap_; for (var name in semanticMap) { this.gl.bindAttribLocation( this.program_, semanticMap[name].gl_index, name); } this.gl.linkProgram(this.program_); if (!this.gl.getProgramParameter(this.program_, this.gl.LINK_STATUS)) { var log = this.gl.getShaderInfoLog(this.program_); this.gl.client.error_callback( 'Program link failed with error log:\n' + log); } this.getUniforms_(); this.getAttributes_(); } }; It falls over on ... var log = this.gl.getShaderInfoLog(this.program_);

  • API to determine cell carrier?

    - by Chris Lively
    Is there a free API or some other way to determine what carrier a cell phone number is registered with? I'd like my application to broadcast text messages without them picking their carrier from a list. UPDATE: Interestingly, a coworker found the answer: http://developer.whitepages.com/ UPDATE2: Well the whitepages license agreement is so restrictive that you can't build an app for it. Any other ideas?

  • Using ELMAH and URLRewritingNet Together

    - by Chris Laythorpe
    I have ELMAH setup on my production server and it has done a fantastic job of letting me know about any niggles - as well as any creative SQL injection! I've decided to introduce URl Rewriting and went for http://www.urlrewriting.net/ in the end. It was nice and easy to setup and it's doing exactly what I want with the customer-facing site. The problem is ELMAH. Because I've set the urlrewritingnet node in my config like so: <urlrewritingnet rewriteOnlyVirtualUrls="true" contextItemsPrefix="QueryString" defaultPage = "default.aspx" defaultProvider="RegEx" xmlns="http://www.urlrewriting.net/schemas/config/2006/07" > ...ELMAH likes to do this to it's axd links; http://www.mydomain.com/elmah.axd/stylesheet/default.aspx Does anyone have any idea how to either a) stop the re-writer following the .axd; or b) add rules to the re-writer to get ELMAH to work Any ideas? I'm happy to hack about with the httpHandlers...

  • Printing a PDF in .NET

    - by Chris Marasti-Georg
    It's the "printing question guy" again. Looking for a third-party solution to print PDFs, preferable from a service. I have seen some arguments against it, but due to our use case, this really is the preferred solution - the service will be receiving messages from a messaging bus, and there shouldn't be any sort of delay between the receipt of that message and the printing of the report. So far, I've found 1 solution from PDF Tools that seems very nice, and very flexible. The problem is that it's licensed per server. If anyone knows of any third-party solutions that have a seat license (per developer, unlimited runtime distribution), that would be much preferred. EDIT: Clarification, by printing, I mean sending the PDF to a printer.

  • Just-in-time invocation of Facebook login window from UIWebView

    - by Chris Garrett
    I have an app that presents a UIWebView pointing to my own server. I have a Facebook Like button on some pages inside the UIWebView. I have it working now, but the login screen is way too big for the phone screen. I would like to present a nicer login dialog such as the one in the Facebook iPhone API, and then continue back to the web view. The Facebook iPhone SDK has support for a login button and iPhone-friendly login screen, but it assumes that a user will click a login button before doing anything Facebook related. I would like the Like button to just appear, and to bring up the iPhone login screen only when necessary. I have monitored HTTP requests from my web view, and it looks like I could intercept the login request there, and present the login dialog. However, it seems that this would be fragile, because if Facebook changes those calls then my app will no longer work. Is there a more elegant way to do this?

  • UpdatePanel with GridView with LinkButton with Image Causes Full Postback

    - by Chris
    So this might be a fairly specific issue but I figured I'd post it since I spent hours struggling with it before I was able to determine the cause. <asp:GridView ID="gvAttachments" DataKeyNames="UploadedID" AutoGenerateColumns="false" OnSelectedIndexChanged="gvAttachments_SelectedIndexChanged" runat="server"> <EmptyDataTemplate>There are no attachments associated to this email template.</EmptyDataTemplate> <Columns> <asp:TemplateField ItemStyle-Width="100%"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:LinkButton CommandName="Select" runat="server"><img src="/images/icons/trashcan.png" style="border: none;" /></asp:LinkButton> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> </Columns> In the ItemTemplate of the TemplateField of the GridView I have a LinkButton with an image inside of it. Normally I do this when I have an image with some text next to it but this time, for whatever reason, I just have the image. This causes the UpdatePanel to always do a full postback. SOLUTION: Change that LinkButton to be an ImageButton and the problem is solved. <asp:ImageButton ImageUrl="/images/icons/trashcan.png" Style="border: none;" CommandName="Select" runat="server" />

  • Placing component on Glass Pane

    - by Chris Lieb
    I have a subclass of JLabel that forms a component of my GUI. I have implemented the ability to drag and drop the component from one container to another, but without any visual effects. I want to have this JLabel follow the cursor during the drag of the item from one container to another. I figured that I could just create a glass pane and draw it on there. However, even after I add the component to the glass pane, set the component visible, and set the glass pane visible, and set the glass pane as opaque, I still so not see the component. I know the component works because I can add it to the content pane and have it show up. How do I add a component to the glass pane? package wpics509s10t7.view; import javax.swing.*; import wpics509s10t7.model.Tile; import java.awt.*; import java.awt.dnd.DragSource; import java.awt.event.AWTEventListener; import java.awt.event.MouseEvent; /** * GlassPane tutorial * "A well-behaved GlassPane" * http://weblogs.java.net/blog/alexfromsun/ * <p/> * This is the final version of the GlassPane * it is transparent for MouseEvents, * and respects underneath component's cursors by default, * it is also friedly for other users, * if someone adds a mouseListener to this GlassPane * or set a new cursor it will respect them * * @author Alexander Potochkin */ public class GlassPane extends JPanel implements AWTEventListener { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; private final JFrame frame; private TileView tv; // subclass of JLabel private Point point; private WordStealApp wsa; public GlassPane(JFrame frame, WordStealApp wsa) { super(null); this.wsa = wsa; this.frame = frame; setOpaque(true); setLayout(null); setVisible(true); composite = AlphaComposite.getInstance(AlphaComposite.SRC_OVER, 0.5f); } public void beginDrag(Tile t, Point p) { this.tv = new TileView(t, null, this.wsa, true); this.add(this.tv); System.out.println("Starting point: x=" + p.getX() + ",y=" + p.getY()); this.tv.setLocation((int)p.getX(), (int)p.getY()); this.tv.setVisible(true); } public void endDrag(Point p) { System.out.println("Ending point: x=" + p.getX() + ",y=" + p.getY()); this.remove(this.tv); this.tv.setVisible(false); this.tv = null; } public void eventDispatched(AWTEvent event) { if (event instanceof MouseEvent) { MouseEvent me = (MouseEvent) event; if (!SwingUtilities.isDescendingFrom(me.getComponent(), frame)) { return; } if (me.getID() == MouseEvent.MOUSE_EXITED && me.getComponent() == frame) { if (tv != null) { tv.setVisible(false); } point = null; } else { MouseEvent converted = SwingUtilities.convertMouseEvent(me.getComponent(), me, frame.getGlassPane()); point = converted.getPoint(); } repaint(); } } /** * If someone adds a mouseListener to the GlassPane or set a new cursor * we expect that he knows what he is doing * and return the super.contains(x, y) * otherwise we return false to respect the cursors * for the underneath components */ @Override public boolean contains(int x, int y) { if (getMouseListeners().length == 0 && getMouseMotionListeners().length == 0 && getMouseWheelListeners().length == 0 && getCursor() == Cursor.getPredefinedCursor(Cursor.DEFAULT_CURSOR)) { return false; } return super.contains(x, y); } }

  • GridViewColumn not subscribing to PropertyChanged event in a ListView

    - by Chris Wenham
    I have a ListView with a GridView that's bound to the properties of a class that implements INotifyPropertyChanged, like this: <ListView Name="SubscriptionView" Grid.Column="0" Grid.ColumnSpan="2" Grid.Row="2" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Subscriptions}"> <ListView.View> <GridView> <GridViewColumn Width="24" CellTemplate="{StaticResource IncludeSubscriptionTemplate}"/> <GridViewColumn Width="150" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=Name}" Header="Subscription"/> <GridViewColumn Width="75" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=RecordsWritten}" Header="Records"/> <GridViewColumn Width="Auto" CellTemplate="{StaticResource FilenameTemplate}"/> </GridView> </ListView.View> </ListView> The class looks like this: public class Subscription : INotifyPropertyChanged { public int RecordsWritten { get { return _records; } set { _records = value; if (PropertyChanged != null) PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("RecordsWritten")); } } private int _records; ... } So I fire up a BackgroundWorker and start writing records, updating the RecordsWritten property and expecting the value to change in the UI, but it doesn't. In fact, the value of PropertyChanged on the Subscription objects is null. This is a puzzler, because I thought WPF is supposed to subscribe to the PropertyChanged event of data objects that implement INotifyPropertyChanged. Am I doing something wrong here?

  • How can I make mock-0.6 return a sequence of values?

    - by Chris R
    I'm using the mock-0.6 library from http://www.voidspace.org.uk/python/mock/mock.html to mock out a framework for testing, and I want to have a mock method return a series of values, each time it's called. Right now, this is what I figured should work: def returnList(items): def sideEffect(*args, **kwargs): for item in items: yield item yield mock.DEFAULT return sideEffect mock = Mock(side_effect=returnList(aListOfValues)) values = mock() log.info("Got %s", values) And the log output is this: subsys: INFO: Got <generator object func at 0x1021db500> So, the side effect is returning the generator, not the next value, which seems wrong. Where am I getting this wrong?

  • How can I change the user identity that runs a build agent in TeamCity?

    - by Chris Farmer
    I am trying to get a build process set up in TeamCity 5, and I am encountering an access denied error when trying to copy some files. I see that my build agent is running as "SYSTEM" now, and I think that's part of the problem. I'd like to change that user identity. The trouble is that I can't figure out how to change those settings on the build agent. How can I change the build user identity?

  • Fluent API Style Usage

    - by Chris Dwyer
    When programming against a fluent API, I've seen the style mostly like this: var obj = objectFactory.CreateObject() .SetObjectParameter(paramName, value) .SetObjectParameter(paramName, value) .DoSomeTransformation(); What is the reasoning behind putting the dot at the beginning of the line instead of the end of the line like this: var obj = objectFactory.CreateObject(). SetObjectParameter(paramName, value). SetObjectParameter(paramName, value). DoSomeTransformation(); Or, is it merely a style thing that a team makes a consensus on?
