• How to call a Biztalk net.TCP service from Raw TCP request?

  I have written a net.tcp based service in Biztalk 2006 R2 and it listens at a location, http://localhost:5060/WCFTcpService I need to call this service by using Raw TCP request. i.e. I don't want to create a proxy class and consume it in a .NET client application. How can I be able to do this? The real scenario is that an Oracle Stored procedure will be used to communicate with this service and the only way I am allowed to call this service is to send a TCP request to the Biztalk server that is hosting the service. Any help or tips would be really appreciated. Thanks.

• FileSearch strictness issue

  I'm currently trying to search directories for any file labelled "??.??.????.xls" (for mm.dd.yyyy.xls). The problem I have is that the code I'm using also matches filenames such as "my-restaurant.12.01.2006.xls". I only want to match filenames with specifically the notation I used above. Dim Invoices As FileSearch Set Invoices = Application.FileSearch With Invoices .Filename = "??.??.????.xls" ' invDir is a directory I chose earlier on .LookIn = invDir .SearchSubFolders = True .MatchTextExactly = True End With Is there something I'm missing? I know I could do yet another check in my code elsewhere to make sure the filename's length is 14 characters, but is there a parameter I'm not considering in the FileSearch?

• Cannot edit ColumnDefinitions property in Visual Studio WPF application, ellipsis are invisible!

The instructions I am following suggest that if I click the item, the properties window will appear (it does), and then I can click ColumnDefinitions (which is a Collection) to bring up the Collection Editor and add some columns. However, the ColumnDefinitions property looks like this: The ColumnDefinitions ellipsis you'd normally press is gone, or invisible, or something. Any idea why?

  Why is it in the following silverlight application that when I: change the default text in the first textbox move the cursor to the second text box (i.e. take focus off first textbox) click the button that inside the button handler, it still has the old value "default text"? What do I have to do to get the binding to work in Silverlight? The same code works fine in WPF. • Trying to connect internally to Oracle, getting an idle instance?

  So I have an Oracle instance, and I know it's running on this system, I've su'd to the oracle user, and I'm trying to connect using "/ as sysdba". However, when I do connect, it says the instance is idle. I know the database is up and opened, because my application's talking to it. • Any book that covers internals of recent versions of Unix OS

  This summer I'm getting into UNIX (mostly *BSD) development. I've graduate level knowledge about operating systems. I can also understand the code & read from here and there but the thing is I want to make most of my time. Reading books are best for this. From my search I found that these two books The Design and Implementation of the 4.4 BSD Operating System (1996) "Unix Internals: The New Frontiers" by Uresh Vahalia (1996) (See here for 2nd edition) are like established books on UNIX OS internals. But the thing is these books are pretty much outdated. So, Is there any recent books that covers internals of recent Unix OS? How about books on other Unix operating systems? They seem to be recent than above books but how close are they to OpenBSD/FreeBSD? Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris Kernel Architecture, 2 edition (July 20, 2006) HP-UX 11i Internals (February 1, 2004) I really don't prefer HP-UX as its not open source.

• BizTalk external assembly namespace and static methods

  Is there some restriction in BizTalk 2006 R2 to accessing static methods in external assemblies when the assembly has a "." in the name ? I have the solution set-up with the BizTalk project "FooBar", and the external assembly project "FooBar.Helper" (strongly signed and GAC'ed) with a class "Demo" (public and serializable), which is referenced in the BizTalk project I can create a BizTalk variable of type "FooBar.Helper.Demo" and access an instance method fine, but an expression window the Intellisense shows the FooBar namespace, but if I dot it, I get the error "illegal dotted name" ??? However I can add another project, "ExtComp" with class "Test" and it's static methods are displayed in Intellisense !!! The only difference I can see is the first external assembly has the dot in it

• How to use command bindings in user controls in wpf?

  In MainWindow the commandbinding works fine. In UserControl1 it doesnt work. Note the datacontext is set correctly as is evidenced by the content of the button which is the result of a binding. I am not trying to bind the command in the usercontrol to a command in mainwindow or any other such trickery. • Java source code generation frameworks

  I have a set of Java 5 source files with old-style Doclet tags, comments and annotations. And based on that I would like to write a generator for another set of Java classes. What is the best way to do that? And are there any good standalone libraries for code analysis/generation in Java? Any shared exprience in this field is appreciated. So, far I have found these: JaxME's Java Source Reflection - seems good, but it does not seem to support annotations. Also it had no release since 2006. Annogen - uses JDK's Doclet generator, which has some bugs under 1.5 JDK. Also it had no releases for a long time. Javaparser - seems good as well and pretty recent, but only supports Visitor pattern for a single class i.e. no query mechanism like in the 2 above packages.

This situation continued for several years till professional sophisticated 3'd party UI libraries appeared. Hardly you'll have to create your own VCL widget nowadays. Will WPF widgets enthusiasm die as VCL one?

• Ways not to write function headers twice?

  Hi, I've got a C/C++ question, can I reuse functions across different object files or projects without writing the function headers twice? (one for defining the function and one for declaring it) I don't know much about C/C++, Delphi and D. I assume that in Delphi or D, you would just write once what arguments a function takes and then you can use the function across diferent projects. And in C you need the function declaration in header files *again??, right?. Is there a good tool that will create header files from C sources? I've got one, but it's not preprocessor-aware and not very strict. And I've had some macro technique that worked rather bad. But when I run the application (in DEBUG mode), no debug output file is created. What am I missing here?

• What is the state of model driven development in 2012?

  I haven't heard a lot of talk lately on model driven development, but some of my company's customers are using it. I know briefly what it is, but after trying to refresh my memory using Google I found that most of the information is from 2006-2007. Was it something that never really took off? More worryingly is the reason why the customers are asking: They want IEC 61508 complience. Is this actually a "not-so-good" idea that will live on simply because it is prescribed by a standard? I have too little experience to say if MDD is good idea or not (I'm guessing the right answer starts with "It depends"...), but the reasons for using it, that is standard complience, seems just wrong.

• Aren't passwords written in inputbox vulnerable through a stack trace ?

  Hello, I am not a guru of the stack tracing, at all. I even don't know how to get some. Anyway, I am wondering if entering a password entered in an inputbox is safe. Can't it be retrieved by getting a stack trace ? A password entered that way will be found in many places : Caption property of the TEdit Result of the function which creates the inputbox probably, a variable that stores the Result of the InputBox Command etc... If the answer is "yes, it is a vulnerability", then my world collapses :p. What can be done to avoid that vulnerability hole ? NOTE : The InputBox is an example but it can be with a "homebrewed" login prompt. InputBox is a Delphi command but I haven't tagged the question with the Delphi tag because I suppose that the question concerns any language. Thanks for reading

• Google App Engine dev_appserver can't find PIL (I've installed it)

  I recently upgraded my Google App Engine launcher on my Mac, running OSX 10.5.8, and afterwards my projects that work with images stopped working locally. It seems to be the same problem that I had when first using GAE locally to work with images, before I installed PIL. Here is the error I get: SystemError: Parent module 'PIL' not loaded I have PIL installed. When I run python normally, I can access it and work with it as expected. I also checked to ensure that dev_appserver.py was running the same version of Python. If I open the interpreter and type sys.version I get this back: 2.5 (r25:51918, Sep 19 2006, 08:49:13) [GCC 4.0.1 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 5341)] This is identical to what I get when I display the sys.version from my projects running through dev_appserver. Any thoughts on why dev_appserver can't find the PIL module? I have been banging my head against this for a bit. Thank you!

• In Visual Studio 2008, how can I make control+click do a "Go To Definition"?

  I know this is not strictly about programming, but it's pretty close. Anyway, in Delphi, you can hold control and click on a method to jump to its definition. In VS2008, you have to right-click and select "Go To Definition". I use this function quite often, so I'd really like to get VS to behave like delphi in this regard - its so much quicker to ctrl+click. I don't think there's a way to get this working in base VS2008 - am I wrong? Or maybe there's a plugin I could use? Edit: Click then F12 does work - but isn't really a good solution for me.. It's still way slower than ctrl+click. I might try AutoHotkey, since I'm already running it for something else. Edit: AutoHotkey worked for me.   I was wondering if there was a tool to convert a path data like "M 0 0 l 10 10" to it's equivalent line/curve segment code. However converting a lot of paths by hand is very tedious.

  Hi, My classifieds website has been present online since 2006, the html pages are indexed and rank as expected whereas a search on Google Images for site:example.com returns nothing & in Yahoo or Bing it returns only a few image results, 8 to 10.
