• Rails + Passenger CSS problem

  I'm trying to deploy my first Rails app. At first, I was getting the following error: ActionView::TemplateError (Permission denied) I set the permissions of the stylesheets folder to 777 (just for now until I work out what's going wrong) and the application started to work. However, it is not picking up any of the stylesheets (everything is displayed in plain text). If I view the source code and click the CSS links, I just get a blank page. Javascripts however, seem to be working just fine. VHost Config: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName xxxx.xxx.com DocumentRoot /home/myapp/public <Directory /home/myapp/public> Allow from All AllowOverride all Options -MultiViews </Directory> </VirtualHost> Can anyone help? • Can I prevent a user from using windows task manager to end a process?

  I have a c# 4.0 application that I hear grumblings and rumors about problems with. Now, this application has a global unhandled exception handler that reports back to me with errors. I also know that it works because SOME people fill it in, and submit it. It seems though; that a large number of people do NOT fill it in, but instead, use the Windows Taskmanager to end the process. Is it possible to prevent a user from using the Windows Taskmanager to end a specific process? My goal would be that if the application crashes, the form that the user is presented with prevents the process from being ended. I'll also accept steps that would prevent the Windows Taskmanager from being launched. I know I have seen some processes come up with an "Access Denied" prompt when I try to kill it in TaskManager, however I suspect that the windows team has made this very difficult, if not impossible to achieve.

• Live Mesh has screwed up my file permissions

  I got the bright idea of using Live Mesh to sync up my development directories between my laptop and desktop machines. It appears that the permission on any new files that are added through Live Mesh do not inherit permissions from the parent directory. Now I cannot overwrite the permissions on those files. I keep getting an "Access is Denied" error when attempting to do so, even if I am running Windows Explorer as administrator. I have two questions: How can I modify the file permissions to allow them to inherit again? Has anyone used Live Mesh to do this sort of thing? Or should I be using FolderShare instead?

• Drupal: why can't user admin access my module pages?

  I am working on a drupal 6.x module which consists of several page as defined in the .module page. The problem is that when I visit those pages as admin, I get access denied. I thought that admin (user 1) could access anything? • How to protect access to a url?

  I would need to create a php file that will do some work on my webserver and that will be called from a program on another server over the internet. Suppose the php file that will do the work is located at www.example.com/work.php What is the best way to protect unsollicited calls to the www.example.com/work.php? What I need is some mechanism so that when the intended program accesses the url (with some query string parameters), the work gets done, but if somebody type www.example.com/work.php in their browser, access will be denied and no work will be done. The way I've thought is to add some 'token' in the querystring that would be constructed by some algorithm from the calling program, a sample result could be to append to the url : ?key=randomKeyAtEachCall&token=SomeHexadecimalResultCalculatedFromTheKey and the key and token would be validated with a reverse algorithm on the php side. Is that safe, Are there any better idea?

• How do I download an attachment from an annotation using client-side JScript?

  I'm trying to provide a link to the attachment of a note through the client-side JScript. The standard MS-made Notes component does this through the following url: [serverurl]/[appname]/Activities/Attachment/download.aspx?AttachmentType=5&AttachmentId={blahblahblah}&IsNotesTabAttachment=1&CRMWRPCToken=blahblahblah&CRMWRPCTokenTimeStamp=blahblahblah The problem is that I don't know how to get the Token or TokenTimeStamp, so I'm receiving an Access Denied error ("form is no longer available, security precaution, etc"). The only other way I can think of doing this is through the OData endpoint, but that would at best get me a base64 string that I still would have translate into a filestream to give to the browser (all of which seems like it would take forever to implement/figure out).   I am trying to follow this instruction. I have a local git repo and when I do a git push, I need the repo to be pushed to my EC2 instance. But, in the above tutorial, when I do a git push origin master, I get Permission denied (publickey) error because I did not specify the identity file. Say, I login to EC2 like this: ssh -i my_key.pem [email protected] So, can I do something similar here to: git -i my_key.pem push origin master or set the identity file in .git/config So, how can I set it up?

• Running ARM assembly code in Android

  I've been following the guide posted here, trying to get this Hello, World program to run on my Samsung Galaxy S3. It's rooted already, and I successfully pushed the "hello" file onto the sdcard. Now when I enter the shell as the superuser (# instead of $), and try to run the file, I get "cannot execute - permission denied". I used chmod 755 hello to see if that would fix it, still nothing. Is there something I'm missing? This is my first time fiddling around with Android, just got the phone, and wanted to see if I could get this to work. Very new to it all. Thanks!

Later, I changed the JQuery source link to be: http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.2.js then I refreshed the web page, and I could saw the returned value.

Once i did that I created another user and added it to the sudoers list but I am unable to connect to the instance as the new user I created. I get the following error. • How to give 'Everybody' full rights to a file (programmatically)

  I'm modifying an old C++ program to run on Vista. It does not require Admin privileges. I've changed the code to put logfiles in \ProgramData\MyApp\. These logfiles are written with the stdio functions (fopen, fprintf, fclose). Here's the problem: UserA runs the program first, it creates \ProgramData\MyApp\MyLogFile.txt UserB runs the program next, it tries to append to MyLogFile.txt and gets access denied. I tried creating a null SECURITY_DESCRIPTOR and passing that to CreateFile(). That does create a file with "no permissions assigned", but it seems as if the first user to write to the file takes ownership and afterwards all the other non-admin users are out of luck. It's important that all users share the same logfiles, but it's also important that I change as little code as possible.

• Can't connect to MySQL database hosted in CloudBees

  I have a free CloudBees account and created a free ClearDB database using their wizards. My trouble is when I use their connection information (whether I try to connect from my Java app, or an outside tool - SQLyog to be exact) I take the error: Access denied for user 'b51dbc5757d79f'@'%' to database 'mywiki. The username provided by CloudBees does not contain those extra characters that the error message is displaying which seems like it would be a problem, but I'm not sure there is anything I can do about that since everything is configured for me. The username I am given is: b51dbc5757d79f - which I can delete and rebuild after sharing here :)

  I have read all the questions I could find on it on SO, but none answers my question. I have a module foo, containing util.py and bar.py. I want to import it in IDLE or python session. How do I go about this? I could find no documentation on how to import modules not in the current directory or the default python PATH. After trying import "<full path>/foo/util.py", and from "<full path>" import util The closest I could get was import imp imp.load_source('foo.util','C:/.../dir/dir2/foo') Which gave me Permission denied on windows 7.

From the spec: If there is a network error Apply the network error steps. Perform a resource sharing check. If it returns fail, apply the network error steps. http://www.w3.org/TR/access-control/#simple-cross-origin-request0 In my testing, I couldn't locate any features of Firefox's implementation that seem to indicate that the resource sharing check definitely failed. It just switches readyState to 4 and sets status to 0. Ultimately I'd like the ability to pass a success callback, a general fail callback, and an optional cross-origin fail callback, to my function. • Is it possible to have a .NET route that maps to the same place as a directory?

  I'm building a CMS using WebForms on .NET 4.0 and have the following route that allows URLs like www.mysite.com/about to be mapped to the Page.aspx page, which looks up the dynamic content. routes.MapPageRoute("page", "{name}", "~/Page.aspx"); The problem is that I have a couple of folders in my project that are interfering with possible URLs. For example, I have a folder called "blog" where I store pages related to handling blog functionality, but if someone creates a page for their site called "blog" then navigating to www.mysite.com/blog gets the following error: 403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied. Other similar URLs route correctly, but I think because .NET is identifying /blog as a physical location on the server it is denying directory access. Is there a way to tell IIS / .NET to only look for physical files instead of files and folders?

  I have a script written in Visual Basic that starts a process (given to the script as an argument) on a remote system (again, given as an argument) using WMI. This script works fine when using an Administrator account on the remote system, but when using a non-administrator account, I get the following error: ConnectServer Failed w/ (-2147024891) Access is denied. I'd like to be able to run processes on remote systems as a non-administrator user with this script, and I'm pretty sure the problem is due to security settings on the remote system, but I've not been able to reset the right ones.

  Hello, I try to connect mysql via PHPMYADMIN, using my password, but it can't stop telling me that (access denied, using password NO) but i'm using a password :O When i connect via the console with my password, it works but not on phpmyadmin.   I am trying to copy files from one folder to another using the FileUtils method "static void copyDirectory(File srcDir, File destDir)" from apache commons io (2.4) with the following code: String srcDir = "/sourceDirectory/examples/"; String destDir = "/tmp/examples/"; try{ FileUtils.copyDirectory(new File(srcDir), new File(destDir)); } catch (IOException e){ e.printStackTrace(); } The file structure looks like the following: examples/ (read access) examples/.subdirectory (NO access) examples/file1.txt (read access) examples/file2.txt (read access) examples/subdirectory2/file1.txt (read access) examples/subdirectory2/file2.txt (NO access) The problem is, that in srcDir there are a few files and one subdirectory I don't have access to. FileUtils.copyDirectory throws an "java.io.FileNotFoundException: .subdirectory (Permission denied)" and aborts. Is it possible to ignore those files I don't have permission to and just copy all the other files I can read?

• Creating a folder inside Mac OS App

  I want a an app that is "self-contained" (I don't know if i use the right word. "putting the app into trash bin will remove everything" is what I meant). But the app requires some resources to run. I usually put those resources into a folder. I want to move those resources into the App folder ( package contents). Can I do that? Is it a good practice to do that? When I test the app directly running from Xcode, the App runs fine. But if i run it from finder, the app will say fails to create resources folder because permission denied. I checked the app's folder permission - User(me) has read/write access. I am wondering what is causing this different behavior. The last option is to use Application Support folder, but I don't want to leave trails when user deletes the app. Can someone help me out here?

  I am trying to install drupal on remote mysql server. I have created the user in mysql and granted the the privileges. I am able to connect through command line from my web server like this "mysql -u xxxx -h 10.xxx.yy.zz3 -p". But when I tried to install drupal I get "SQLSTATE[28000] [1045] Access denied for user 'xxxx'@'localhost'". I have given the privileges for "xxxx"@"10.xxx.yy.zz3" but drupal appends localhost instead of IP to user name. I have changed settings.php to mysql server IP. What am I missing?

(Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))" The above code works between two machines that are part of the same AD domain. What am I doing wrong?
