  • How to select an element by Class instead of ID in ASP.NET?

    - by firedrawndagger
    I have a few scatter elements which I am grouping together using a class like so - . In my code behind, using C# I want to hide these elements, using something like instructions.Visible = false;. However I realize I can only do this in codebehind if I use ID but this will result in invalid HTML/CSS Selector since you can't have multiple ID's with the same ID name... Alternatively is there another way to group the controls if not by class?

  • How to compose a Matcher[Iterable[A]] from a Matcher[A] with specs testing framework

    - by Garrett Rowe
    If I have a Matcher[A] how do create a Matcher[Iterable[A]] that is satisfied only if each element of the Iterable satisfies the original Matcher. class ExampleSpec extends Specification { def allSatisfy[A](m: => Matcher[A]): Matcher[Iterable[A]] = error("TODO") def notAllSatisfy[A](m: => Matcher[A]): Matcher[Iterable[A]] = allSatisfy(m).not "allSatisfy" should { "Pass if all elements satisfy the expectation" in { List(1, 2, 3, 4) must allSatisfy(beLessThan(5)) } "Fail if any elements do not satisfy the expectation" in { List(1, 2, 3, 5) must notAllSatisfy(beLessThan(5)) } } }

  • Merging some sorted lists with unknown order sequence

    - by Gabriel
    I've some sorted lists with variable number of elements. I wold like to merge the lists into one big list which contains all other lists in same order, without duplicates. Example: 1. XS,M,L,XL 2. S,M,XXL 3. XXS,XS,S,L Result: XXS,XS,S,M,L,XL,XXL The function should notify, if there are elements which have ambiguous positions. Here, it would be XXL and I need to specify its position after XL.

  • Find the element with the most "neighbors" in a sequence

    - by Bao An
    Assume that we have a sequence S with n elements <x1,x2,...,xn>. A pair of elements xi,xj are considered neighbors if |xi-xj|<d, with d a given distance between two neighbors. So how can find out the element that has most neighbors in the sequence? (A simply way is sorting the sequence and then calculating number of each element but it's time complexity is quite large): O(nlogn) May you please help me find a better way to reduce time complexity?

  • How can I make a resizable array in Java?

    - by Soren Johnson
    What is the best way to do a resizable array in Java? I tried using Vector, but that shifts all elements over by when when you do an insert, and I need an array that can grow but the elements stay in place. I'm sure there's a simple answer for this, but I still not quite sure.

  • Make dictionary from list with python

    I need to transform a list into dictionary as follows. The odd elements has the key, and even number elements has the value. x = (1,'a',2,'b',3,'c') - {1: 'a', 2: 'b', 3: 'c'} def set(self, val_): i = 0 for val in val_: if i == 0: i = 1 key = val else: i = 0 self.dict[key] = val My solution seems to long, is there a better way to get the same results?

  • Javascript (and HTML rendering) engine without a GUI for automation?

    - by MTsoul
    Are there any libraries or frameworks that provide the functionality of a browser, but do not need to actually render physically onto the screen? I want to automate navigation on web pages (Mechanize does this, for example), but I want the full browser experience, including Javascript. Thus, I'd like to have a virtual browser of some sort, that I can use to "click on links" programmatically, have DOM elements and JS scripts render within it, and manipulate these elements. Solution preferably in Python, but I can manage others.

  • Stateful Iterators Java

    - by Gitmo
    What is a Stateful Iterator? This question relates to an Iterator defined in Hadoop for performing Joins. As the reference documentation states: This defines an interface to a stateful Iterator that can replay elements added to it directly. Note that this does not extend Iterator. What does 'replay elements added to it directly' mean? How is this iterator different from a usual iterator?

  • Get a random subset from a set in F#

    - by Cay
    I am trying to think of an elegant way of getting a random subset from a set in F# Any thoughts on this? Perhaps this would work: say we have a set of 2x elements and we need to pick a subset of y elements. Then if we could generate an x sized bit random number that contains exactly y 2n powers we effectively have a random mask with y holes in it. We could keep generating new random numbers until we get the first one satisfying this constraint but is there a better way?

  • How do I get javascript-generated image maps to work with internet explorer?

    - by schwerwolf
    I'm using javascript to generate a high resolution grid for an image that I generated on a web server. The high-resolution grid is composed of a 'map' element with hundreds of 'area' child elements. Each 'area' element has onmouseover attribute that causes the display of a popup box. After assigning the map to the img (via the usemap attribute), Internet explorer ignores the 'onmouseover' attribute of the area elements that I added via javascript. The behavior is not caused by syntactical variations between IE and other browsers. A static map behaves correctly. Only the elements that I add dynamically to an existing image map fail to fire their corresponding mouse-over events. How can I get IE to fire the mouse-over event for the added 'area' elements? function generate_image_map ( img ) { var tile_width = 8; var tile_height = 10; var plotarea_left = 40; var plotarea_top = 45; var column_count = 100; var row_count = 120; var img_id = YAHOO.util.Dom.getAttribute(img, "id"); var img_map_id = YAHOO.util.Dom.getAttribute(img, "usemap"); var original_map = YAHOO.util.Selector.query(img_map_id)[0]; var area_nodes = YAHOO.util.Selector.query("area", original_map); var last_node = area_nodes[area_nodes.length - 1]; for (var y = 0; y < row_count; y++) { var top = Math.round(plotarea_top + (y * tile_height)); var bottom = Math.round(plotarea_top + (y * tile_height) + tile_height); for (var x = 0; x < column_count; x++) { var left = Math.round(plotarea_left + (x * tile_width)); var right = Math.round(plotarea_left + (x * tile_width) + tile_width); var area = document.createElement("area"); YAHOO.util.Dom.setAttribute(area, "shape", "rect"); YAHOO.util.Dom.setAttribute(area, "onmouseover", "alert('This does not appear in IE')" ); var coords = [ left, top, right, bottom ]; YAHOO.util.Dom.setAttribute(area, "coords", coords.join(",")); YAHOO.util.Dom.insertBefore(area, last_node); } } }

  • How should I write this string-prefix check so that it's idiomatic Python?

    - by Kevin Stargel
    I have a couple of lists of items: specials = ['apple', 'banana', 'cherry', ...] smoothies = ['banana-apple', 'mocha mango', ...] I want to make a new list, special_smoothies, consisting of elements in smoothies that start with the elements in specials. However, if specials is blank, special_smoothies should be identical to smoothies. What's the most Pythonic way to do this? Is there a way to do this without a separate conditional check on whether specials is blank?

  • Saving order of a List in JPA

    - by Rosen Martev
    Hello, I have the following question about JPA: Can I save the order of the elements in a java.util.List? In my application the order in which I put elements in the Lists is important but after I get those collections from the database the order is not the same (as expected). Can you show me a way to deal with this problem? P.S. There is not a field in the entities that I put in the collections by which I can order them. Rosen

This is a snippet from "Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable OO software" Part of an object's interface may be characterized by one type, and other parts by other types. Two objects of the same type need only share parts of their interfaces. Interfaces can contain other interfaces as subsets. - Design Patterns - Elements of Reusable OO software, pg 13
