I think that my mup.sys file is corrupted, I received the following error when trying to access a network share that was located on my Windows 7 box, from my Windows xp box: No network provider accepted the given network path. After reading this I attempted to follow the directions by entering my computer into safe mode. After I run "sfc /scannow" I receive the following error message: The specific error code is 0x000006ba [The RPC server is unavailable]. Additionally when I go into Services, it says that the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service is running but that the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator is not running. When I try to start the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator, it gives me an error saying: Error 1084: This service cannot be started in Safe Mode So what can I do about this exactly? If it can't find the Remote Procedure Call service in safe mode?

I'm new with Rundeck and completely amazed with it and I'm trying to execute a job and my scenario is detailed below: Rundeck is configured with ssh passwordless authentication for user master between node Server (rundeck server) and node Target (remote Solaris host) for user "master" In node Target I want to execute a script /app/acme/stopApp.sh with a user appmanager Normally and manually, when I need to run script above I proceed with ssh master@server sudo su - appmanager or simply ssh -t master@server 'sudo su - appmanager' works without password and finally run (as appmanager) /app/acme/stopApp.sh But I'm not sure how can I reproduce these steps using Rundeck. I read in some previous messages that for each job line rundeck use a new ssh connection, so the workflow below always fails for me with the messages: sudo: no tty present and no askpass program specified Remote command failed with exit status 1 Please someone could help me with some information to solve this issue. Without this functionality I wouldn't be able to introduce a little DevOps in my department. I read the user guide and admin guide but I couldn't find an easy example, neither in this forum, to follow.

256 Colors in Terminal over SSH on OSX 10.6

I am using either Windows 7 or Ubuntu 12.04 and trying to SSH into OSX 10.6. Using Vim color schemes, I can emulate the colors on xterm-256 color on Linux and gVim on Windows. However, I would like the colors to follow through when I am SSHing onto the OSX. The default terminal, however, does not support xterm-256color. Is there a way to have OSX use iterm2 by default, to accept all SSH requests instead of terminal.app? If not, is there a way to install xterm-256color into the default terminal? Upgrading to Lion is out of the question at this point. Thank you!

Installing trunk Mono on Ubuntu

I am quite new to linux. I have to install Mono on a linux machine from souce code. I know the general method: read-instructions, install-dependencies, ./configure, make, make install. However this approach doesn't fit into the general Ubuntu package management routine. Other programs I install from .debs won't be able to notice the version of Mono. Also I can't remove Mono using standard Ubuntu package management tools. Is there an easy solution? I have seen that Ubuntu actually has several separate packages for the Mono project. Should I build packages from Mono? How can I follow the same conventions as the ubuntu packagers? Where should I look for info on packaging? Can you give step by step instructions? Thanks!

Conversation based grouping in Outlook similar to gmail?

I'm stuck using my employer's Outlook 2007 system for work email and don't have the option to forward to my gmail account. The only thing I really miss alot from gmail is the threaded conversations which allow me to easily see what I have sent as replies and follow the entire string of emails easily. I have seen suggestions of using adding the conversation column in outlook, but if you sort by conversation then the most recent emails are not at the top, and additionally you still do not see emails you have sent because they are in the seperate sent folder. Any ideas on how I can get more thread like organization of my emails in outlook?

Office365 DirSync Active Directory Integration

I am preparing to deploy Office365 for my organization. We have an on premise Active Directory Domain Controller (Windows Server 2012 R2). We would like to leverage our Active Directory for: automatic user provisioning in Office365, and password synchronization, using the DirSync tool. Our Active Directory Domain is example.pvt. Email is currently Rackspace Exchange and email addresses follow the form [email protected]. Active Directory User Logon Name follows the form firstinitiallastname. My Questions are: What Active Directory Attribute(s) can be use in provisioning the email address in Office365? Is it possible to use the E-mail field in Active Directory to provision the email address in Office365? Will the fact that our Active Directory Domain has a different extension (.pvt vs. .com) cause a problem with our planned provisioning method?

Deploying WCF Tutorial App on IIS7: "The type could not be found"

Hello, I've been trying to follow this tutorial for deploying a WCF sample to IIS . I can't get it to work. This is a hosted site, but I do have IIS Manager access to the server. However, in step 2 of the tutorial, I can't "create a new IIS application that is physically located in this application directory". I can't seem to find a menu item, context menu item, or what not to create a new application. I've been right-clicking everywhere like crazy and still can't figure out how to create a new app. I suppose that's probably the root issue, but I tried a few other things (described below) just in case that actually is not the issue. Here is a picture of what I see in IIS Manager, in case my words don't do it justice: This is "deployed" at http://test.com.cws1.my-hosting-panel.com/IISHostedCalcService/Service.svc . The error says: The type 'Microsoft.ServiceModel.Samples.CalculatorService', provided as the Service attribute value in the ServiceHost directive, or provided in the configuration element system.serviceModel/serviceHostingEnvironment/serviceActivations could not be found. I also tried to create a virtual dir (IISHostedCalc) in dotnetpanel that points to IISHostedCalcService . When I navigate to http://test.com.cws1.my-hosting-panel.com/IISHostedCalc/Service.svc , then there is a different error: This collection already contains an address with scheme http. There can be at most one address per scheme in this collection. Interestingly enough, if I click on View Applications, it seems like the virtual directory is an application (see image below)... although, as per the error message above, it doesn't work. I'm using uberSVN on Ubuntu server. I have come to realize the tremendous amount of information Google has on its users. I am a typical Google user, using Gmail, Google Reader. This means that right now Google now has the following information at its disposal: Who my friends are (Gmail) What we talk about (Gmail, Google Talk) What news sources I follow (Google Reader) How frequently I check them and which ones I consider important enough to share (Google Reader) A lot of other stuff What I search about and when (if I search when logged in) (Web search) I have no reason to believe that this information is used for reasons other than adjusting what ads I am displayed when I visit a site with Google Ads. However, I have realised that I am in no position to be certain that this is absolutely true, or that it always will be. On the other hand, I don't want to reach the uber-privacy-maniac state of maintaining my own email server and installing a desktop RSS reader in all my machines. Can I install Microsoft Visual Web Developer w/o a SQL Server Express installation?

When I attempt to install Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2010 Express, it forces an installation of SQL Server 2008 Express, which is okay. However, it forces it to have the instance name SQLEXPRESS instead being the default instance. I tried installing SQL Server 2008 Express first, but the Web Platform Installer 3.0 still wants to download and install the named instance, which then I have to uninstall. I'm putting together a guide that several others in my group will follow, so I'd like to not have to tell them to "install, then uninstall". So, is there any reasonable way to either (1) install VWD w/o SS, or (2) install VWD but configure SS do use the default instance?

I am trying to setup https for my website, I follow the offical instruction from amazon doc: http://docs.aws.amazon.com/elasticbeanstalk/latest/dg/configuring-https.html When I Upload a Signed Certificate using AWS command aws iam upload-server-certificate --server-certificate-name dichcumga --certificate-body file://mycert.pem --private-key file://signedkey.pem --certificate-chain file://mychain.pem And I got error A client error (MalformedCertificate) occurred when calling the UploadServerCert ificate operation: Certificate body is invalid. The body must not contain a private key. mycert.pem is a combination of private.pem and signedkey.pem (which return by VeriSign) copy private.pem+signedkey.pem mycert.pem Please help to shed a light. Unable to Turn On Media Streaming in Windows Media Player 12 on Windows 7

I have 2 PC installed with Windows 7 and Media Player 12. I would like to use Play To feature on both PC connected via LAN. Both PC (A and B) run media player in standard user account. I able to turn on media streaming option in PC A (with privilege access prompt) without any problem. However, PC B also prompt privilege access but no response after enter administrator password. Both PC follow same configuration steps. I may use "play to" PC A (in standard user account) from other PC without any problem. But I can't "play to" PC B in standard user account. I can only run media player in administrator account for "play to" to function. I have tried uninstall and reinstall media player via "Programs and Features" in control panel on PC B. However, it doesn't work too. Does anyone has similar experience as me failing to turn on media streaming that running Windows media player in standard user account?

Godaddy cname "@" not working (instructions from Heroku).

Hi there, I created a little app on Heroku, and am trying to follow their directions for setting up a custom domain on Godaddy. I've created a CNAME for www, but I can't create one for @ (or mydomain.com. per their instructions. I keep getting the error: ERROR - DNS Rules Violation, A record of a different type exists for this hostname, CNAME cannot be created for @ No matter which combination of dots and @'s I use. Anyone know how to add that cname with just the root domain and not the www?

Problem with IIS 6.0 in WOW WCF 4 (.net 4.0)

We just upgraded to WCF 4 on IIS 6 (running in WoW 32 bit mode), and all of a sudden the services started running into what appears to be concurrency problems. Upon finding out we had a problem, we changed the Behavior Configuration Changes on the WCF server to the follow: <serviceThrottling maxConcurrentCalls="1000" maxConcurrentInstances="1000" maxConcurrentSessions="1000" /> We also changed the number of worker processes from 1 to 5. Doing all of this seemed to have no effect. The service seemed to be running, but throttled by something. Is there anything else that might need to be changed to remove the "artificial" throttling? Were using the default configuration WCF which should be Per-Call (not singleton).

My Configure Command doesn't say anything about jpg, nor gif/png, but I can see gif/png support in the output of phpinfo(). I built PHP with --with-gd, but only GIF Support and PNG Support are in the output of phpinfo(), how do I enable JPEG Support? UPDATE I got this problem when compiling : Sorry, I cannot run apxs. Possible reasons follow: 1. Perl is not installed 2. apxs was not found. Try to pass the path using --with-apxs2=/path/to/apxs 3. Apache was not built using --enable-so (the apxs usage page is displayed) The output of /usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs follows: cannot open /usr/local/apache2/build/config_vars.mk: No such file or directory at /usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs line 218. Possible Duplicate: What’s your favorite ticketing system? I was wondering if somebody could recommend me a very user friendly or simple general purpose ticketing/tech support system. I need something that is web based, preferably open-sourced/free software implemented using PHP, Ruby, Ruby on Rails or Java (as back end) with MySQL or PostgreSQL as database engine. I need something that is not development management oriented or project management oriented like Eventum or similar (random example), something to which the user can connect open a tech support request and be able to follow it until is solved or dropped.I need it to be open-sourced to be able to modify it if there is a need or extend it. I tried a number of such systems available and I found that osTicket or eTicket is something that it's close to what I need, but the code is somewhat flaky and some of the features are working badly or behaving strangely. Any thoughts/advice where to find something similar? Thanks!

I would like to enable the openssl extension in php.ini. I uncommented the extension=php_openssl.dll restarted apache service, but it still doesn't works. In the apache error log I've found PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'C:/Program Files (x86)/mypath/php/ext\\php_openssl.dll' - The operating system cannot run %1.\r\n in Unknown on line 0 I tried to follow some tutorials which said that I have to copy ssleay32.dll and libeay32.dll to the windows/system32 directory, but it still doesn't works. Does anyone know how to install it properly?

Help setting up NSD daemon (DNS server)

While searching for a secure dns server I came across the NSD project. I was really impressed by what seemed to me the best option out there that's open source. One problem thought their 'tutorial' is really not beginner friendly. I have basic DNS knoledge but what's in there is out of my league. I need to have multiple sites on this CentOS server I've recently got my hands on. They also need to receive email. Details: I have a master host and would love to set this in the way described in the rows that follow: masterhost.com -> ns1.masterhost.com mail.masterhost.com www.masterhost.com addonhost.com -> ns1.masterhost.com mail.masterhost.com www.addonhost.com And so on. Any help in setting up this DNS server please? All answers and suggestions are welcomed. Thank you in advance.

I have tomcat server behind the apache. I am using mod_ssl and reverse proxy to the tomcat. All are running at default ports. The full error is as follow. ack Proxy Error The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The proxy server could not handle the request POST /pages/doeditpage.action. Reason: Error reading from remote server If I clean the browser cache the error goes away and comes back after few attempts. I test the same on Chrome/Firefox/IE on Windows platform. Wondering it works perfectly on Linux based Chrome/Firefox. I googled a lot there are few answers at stack overflow but I am not able to find my answer. Is this a server side problem? because so many browsers cant be wrong at same time on Windows.

Device cannot be added on software-raid-1 array on Ubuntu 12.04

Unfortunately all tutorials I have found online until now on how to setup software-raid-1 are outdated on ubuntu 12.40 My target is to setup it on a system with a secondary disk drive that is already running. Format is not an option! I am trying to follow and adapt from 11.10 to 12.04 the following tutorial: http://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-set-up-software-raid1-on-a-running-lvm-system-incl-grub2-configuration-ubuntu-11.10-p2 On the above tutorial there is a successful command which creates a raid-1 array by setting the first disk drive with the installed system as missing: mdadm --create /dev/md0 --level=1 --raid-disks=2 missing /dev/sdb1 But when the time comes to add the first main drive with the installed system on the raid-array with this command: mdadm --add /dev/md0 /dev/sda1 I receive an error message. The error message says that the device /dev/sda is (which makes sense) busy! Note: hardware raid solution is not available since the system is a laptop with two disk drives! Thank you

Replication in PG 9 between Windows and Linux boxes

I have PostgreSQL 9 running on Windows 2003 SP2. I am trying to replicate it on a Fedora 12 system running PostgreSQL 9 as well. I am hitting this error message: /usr/pgsql-9.0/bin/postgres -D /var/lib/pgsql/9.0/data/ -p 5432 2011-02-11 17:43:26 ISTFATAL: incorrect checksum in control file Because of firewall restrictions, I could not follow the official instructions to the letter. Instead, I zipped the contents of the data directory when the server was offline and copied that to the Linux box. I ran a sha1deep on both directories and there were no mismatches. I changed the rights so that only the postgres user and group had access to the files. Now, what can I do for replication to work? I tried with a 'pg_dumpall', but the system complains that the database IDs do no match.
