  • Does google analytics track visits via tumblr dashboard?

    I wondered if GA tracks visits to my tumblr accessed through tumblr dash by other tumblr users. And if it can track visitors who only view my blog via the tumblr dash. My GA stats are 320 visits for last month, but I have about 400 likes or reblogs for the same time period, so not sure how this is possible, unless the visits through tumblr are not tracked. Does GA only track those who type in my site address directly, or those who are logged in to tumblr to access it as well? Thx

  • Rails add a param to the end of a search query

    Hello, I am trying to implement a sort on the returned results of a search with rails. Filter by: 'recent' % | 'lowest_price' % | 'highest_price' % here are my links. I would like to add a filter to the end of my search query. So for example, I submit a search and I get back results and in my url I have http://localhost:3000/junks?search=handbag&condition=&category=&main_submit=Go! I would then like the user to be able to click one of the above links and have the page come back with a new query (i have this set up in the controller like such) con_id = params[:condition] if params[:category].nil? || params[:category].empty? cat_id = params[:category] results = Junk.search params[:search], :with => { :category_id => cat_id, :condition_id => con_id } case params[:filter] when "lowest_price" @junks = results.lowest_price.paginate :page => params[:page], :per_page => 12 when "highest_price" @junks = results.highest_price.paginate :page => params[:page], :per_page => 12 else @junks = results.paginate :page => params[:page], :per_page => 12 end else I would like the user to be able to click on of the above links and append a filter param to the end of the search query so that my controller can pick it up and call the correct database queries as seen in the case statement above. I'm guessing the url will look like this http://localhost:3000/junks?search=handbag&condition=&category=&main_submit=Go!&filter="lowest_price" How can I do this? Is there a better way?

Also, my company uses Google Apps for e-mail and I can send e-mail to a user at sonic.net from my company. The differences between my personal e-mail and my company's are: My company's domain has no SPF record whereas mine does. My company's domain has an A record whereas mine does not. My SPF record initially was as prescribed by Google here. However, this guy claims Google is wrong and gives a fix. I've tried it both ways with no difference. My SPF record is currently: v=spf1 mx include:aspmx.googlemail.com include:_spf.google.com ~all As for the lack of an A record, you wouldn't think that a mail host would care about that so long as mx records are defined. However, the funny thing is that if you look at the error message, why does Google state that the recipient's domain stated that there is "No such user here" for my address? That makes no sense. Of course there is no user having my address at sonic.net. Also, I assume that I just discovered that I can't send mail to users at sonic.net by accident and that there are probably other domains I can't send e-mail to. So... anybody have any idea what's going on? And how I can get mail to users at sonic.net?

  • Combining multiple content types into a single search result with Drupal 6 and Views 2

    Hi all, I need to create a somewhat advanced search functionality for my Drupal 6 site. I have a one-to-many relationship between two content types and need to search them, respecting that relationship. To make things more clear... I have content types TypeX and TypeY. TypeY has a node reference CCK field that relates it to a single node of TypeX. So, many nodes of TypeY reference the same node of TypeX. I want to use Views 2 to create a search page for these nodes. I want each search result to be a node of TypeX, along with all the nodes of TypeY that reference it. I know I could just theme the individual results and use a view to add the nodes of TypeY to the single node of TypeX... but that won't allow users to actually search TypeY... it would only search TypeX and merely display some nodes of TypeY along with it. Is there anyway to get the search to account for content in nodes of both content types, but merge the TypeY results into the "parent" node of TypeX? In database terms, it seems like I need to do a join, then filter by the search terms. But I can't figure out how to do this in Views. Thanks for any help i can get!!!

    Hi! I have a 1.2GB file that contains a one line string. What I need is to search the entire file to find the position of an another string (currently I have a list of strings to search). The way what I'm doing it now is opening the big file and move a pointer throught 4Kb blocks, then moving the pointer X positions back in the file and get 4Kb more. My problem is that a bigger string to search, a bigger time he take to got it.   • Searching in Ruby on Rails - How do I search on each word entered and not the exact string?

    I have built a blog application w/ ruby on rails and I am trying to implement a search feature. The blog application allows for users to tag posts. The tags are created in their own table and belong_to :post. When a tag is created, so is a record in the tag table where the name of the tag is tag_name and associated by post_id. Tags are strings. I am trying to allow a user to search for any word tag_name in any order. Here is what I mean. Lets say a particular post has a tag that is 'ruby code controller'. In my current search feature, that tag will be found if the user searches for 'ruby', 'ruby code', or 'ruby code controller'. It will not be found if the user types in 'ruby controller'. Essentially what I am saying is that I would like each word entered in the search to be searched for, not necessarily the 'string' that is entered into the search. I have been experimenting with providing multiple textfields to allow the user to type in multiple words, and also have been playing around with the code below, but can't seem to accomplish the above. I am new to ruby and rails so sorry if this is an obvious question and prior to installing a gem or plugin I thought I would check to see if there was a simple fix. Currently, I have to use the mouse to select search to initialize the geocoding function. How can I make the map return a placemark by hitting the enter button on my keyboard? I just want to make it as user-friendly as possible. This works decently well, but I'm just wondering how efficient would it be? This would only be for a small blog, too. Either way I'm just wondering if this could be made any more efficient.

  • Windows 7 search not finding files

    Can anyone please explain this quirk in Windows 7 search (not a big fan of it - preferred XP method or least both). With Outlook, you sometimes have to find and delete your OST file. It resides in the user's profile folder. How come searching the entire C: drive for *.ost files works - they are in c:\Users\rob.nicholson\appdata somewhere but starting the search from c:\Users\rob.nicholson fails to find the files???
