  • SPF include: too many IP addresses

    I've hit a snag with SPF. The SPF record for my domain will contain four or five entries, plus it will contain: include:sgizmo.com The SPF record for sgizmo.com contains eleven entries! This, plus mine, is way over the maximum ten allowed by the RFC (and probably by most servers). I realize that there has to be a limit in order to prevent DoS attacks. However, in the real world, it is probably not unreasonable for large companies to have many server addresses. Furthermore, must I know monitor my 'include:' counterparts for changes and additions? Must I check weekly, daily, to insure that some combination of changes doesn't suddenly put me over the top? It doesn't seem to me that SPF is suitable for prime time. Is there another way to do this?

  • DRBD not syncing between my nodes when IP is reset

    I am trying to setup DRBD by following the article at http://www.howtoforge.com/setting-up-network-raid1-with-drbd-on-ubuntu-11.10-p2 I am using Ubuntu 10.04 DRBD - 8.3.11 In the first run I had everything working perfectly and when shifting the systems to a production environment I decided to restart the Meta Data creation part and start from scratch. The IPs had changed entirely in the production environment. Issuing drdbadm create-md r0 in both the servers runs successfully. But when I do "drbdadm -- --overwrite-data-of-peer primary all" on the primary it fails to start the re sync.     I have a web site deployed to IIS 7. One page it is has 15+ .js files linked to it. Last two files referenced in <head> tag (loaded last) get 403 forbidden response from server. I have enabled FailedRequestTracing and have been able to see a detailed error code which is 403.502. I suppose over a very short period of time I am just pulling to much and the IIS blocks me. Is there a way I can configure the limit to enable larger number of requests and get rid of 403.502 error?

  • Linksys router with multiple external IP's

    In an office I've got a network connection with 5 external IPs and a Linksys router (I'm not 100% percent sure of the model). I need 4 of those 5 IPs to be routed to a server, and the fifth to be shared between the other computers at the office. This can probably be done using a switch in front of the router. Connect the server and the router to the switch, and let the router handle the rest of the network. Is there a way to configure the router to route the 4 IPs to the server, and create an internal network the the other computers at the same time?

  • Dnsmasq offering IP via DHCP, but nobody is accepting

    As clients connect the logs light up with DHCPDISCOVER(wlan0) and DHCPOFFER(wlan0) but the IPs being offered are not being accepted. Currently dnsmasq offers IPs on eth1 which works flawlessly.   • Finding a private (NAT) host's IP using historic destination data

    The issue: An unknown private (NAT) client is infected with malware and it's trying to access a Bot server at random times/dates. How we know about this: We receive bot traffic notices/alerts from REN-ISAC. Unfortunately, we don't receive those until the next day after it has happened. What they provide to us is: The source address (of the firewall) The destination addresses (it varies, but they're going to network subnet allocated to a German ISP) The source port (which varies--dynamic ports). Question: What would be the best approach to finding this internal host (historically) with a Cisco ASA as firewall? I'm guessing blocking anything to the destination address(es), and logging that type of traffic/access might allow me to find the source host, but I'm not sure which tool/command would be the most useful. I've seen Netflow thrown into a few responses when it comes to logging, but I'm confused with it's association of Logging, NAL, and nBAR, and how they relate to Netflow.

Gut feeling is it might need the backends to be set somewhere, but I'm not sure where.

    I have a RubyOnRails application running on the same server that runs sendmail. The application sends out (no need to receive) emails via the local sendmail. Now I intend to move sendmail to a dedicated server. How do I make sendmail on that server accept connections from my application on the other server? I modified sendmail.mc from DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Family=inet, Name=MTA-v4, Port=smtp, Addr=127.0.0.1')dnl to DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Family=inet, Name=MTA-v4, Port=smtp')dnl I have also added to /etc/mail/access: Connect:198.211.117.41 RELAY then ran m4 sendmail.mc > sendmail.cf and restarted sendmail. Trying to connect from my app server with telnet on port 25 to the mail server gives me: telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused Am I missing something?

  • Solaris TCP/IP performance tuning

    I am trying to tune a high message traffic system running on Solaris. The architecture is a large number (600) of clients which connect via TCP to a big Solaris server and then send/receive relatively small messages (.5 to 1K payload) at high rates. The goal is to minimize the latency of each message processed. I suspect that the TCP stack of the server is getting overwhelmed by all the traffic. What are some commands/metrics that I can use to confirm this, and in case this is true, what is the best way to alleviate this bottleneck? PS I posted this on StackOverflow originally. One person suggested snoop and dtrace. dtrace seems pretty general - are there any additional pointers on how to use it to diagnose TCP issues?

I already have correctly configured my DynDNS, but every time the DynDNS will not set to public address but local private address with in the range 10.xxx.xxx.xxx. My router address is 192.168.1.1 and server address is 192.168.1.5. Can someone give me some guideline about this issue?

  • Slackware - Assigning routes (IP address ranges) to one of many network adapters

    I am using a Slackware 13.37 virtual machine within VirtualBox (current). I currently have a number of Ubuntu VMs on a single server, along with this Slackware VM. All VMs have been set up to use "Internal Network" mode, so they are all on a private LAN, and can see each other (ie: share files amongst themselves), but they remain private from the outside world. On on the these VMs (the Slackware one), I need to be able to grant it access to both this private network, and the internet at large. The first suggestion I found for handling this is to add another virtual network adapter to the VM, then set it to NAT. This results in the Slackware VM having the following network adapter setup: -NIC#1: Internal Network -NIC#2: NAT I want to set up the first network adapter (NIC#1) to handle all traffic on the following subnets: 10.10.0.0/255.255.0.0 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 And I want the second virtual network adapter (NIC#2) to handle everything else (ie: internet access). May I please have some assistance in setting this up on my Slackware VM?     So 2 days ago I can see that page where it saya "Welcome to nginx", however as of now when I tried to access it, it says 404 page not found... Why is this?   • ip routing policy in linux

    I have a linux system with two network interfaces (eth0 in x.x.x.0 and eth1 in x.x.y.0). Is there any posibility to add some route policy to send all the traffic to network x.x.y.0. I would like even the traffic from eth0 to be send to eth1's network. I cannot delete the direct connected networks from the routing table so all the traffic from x.x.x.0 network is send to eth0. I would like to send all traffic to eth1.

    Hi Guys, I'm new to linux server. I'm currently trying to get an Ubuntu 10.10 server up and running for the first time and I'm using Webmin for administration. I'm stuck on the setting up the firewall. What I need to do is to ONLY allow a range of IPs (e.g 128.171.21.1 - 128.171.21.100) to access the HTTP server and Webmin. I've seen a lot of tutorials but none of them fits what I needed. Thanks in advance!

  • PCs on domain can not resolve external IP addresses using the DC's DNS Server

    I currently have a domain controller which handles all DHCP and DNS. The DHCP works just fine and the domain controller itself can use the internet with no issues. However, PCs that are part of the domain are not able to use external websites, only internal. Does anyone have any way I can solve this issue?   • Transfering Files to server IP and port

    I need to transfer files from my local computer on windows 7 to a server running linux. I access the server with putty through ssh at a specific IPv4 address and port number. I've attempted using the pscp command from my local computer but was denied access by the server. "Fatal: Network error: Connection refused" c:>pscp test.csv userid@**IPv4_Addres***:Port# /path/destination_file_name. Either the server blocks all pscp attempts from unauthorized users (most likely my laptop included) or I used the command incorrectly. If you have experience using this command, where exactly will the file get transfered to, I'm assuming that the path destination starts at my home directory in the server. Also if you have any other alternative methods of transfering the files let me know. Update 1 I have also tried using WinSCP however I got permission denied for that as well, it looks like the server will not let me upload or save files. Solved I had a complete lapse of memory and forgot about sudo (spent too much time with scripts the last 2 months), so I was able to change the permissions to allow external editing. Thanks for all the help guys!

    I have 2 servers the first (SRV01) is running Bind and other web app the second (SRV02) is running 2 server Minecraft (^^) in Bind I have 2 A recording for the 2 server MC s1.domain.tld A SRV02IP s2.domain.tld A SRV02IP the 2 MC serv are running on 2 different port 25565 and 25566 so I want that the request from s1.domain.tld:25565 are going to SRV02IP:25565 and the request from s2.domain.tld:25565 are going to SRV02IP:25566 I think I need do this in the SRV02 iptables. I have looking some topic about iptables but nothing pertinent to me. could you help me ? rgds.
