  • Enabling scrollbar in EditText Android

    - by Sammm
I have an EditText on my layout. Below are the attributes I currently have: <EditText android:id="@+id/entryIdea" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="225sp" android:gravity="top" android:background="@android:drawable/editbox_background" android:scrollbars="vertical"/> However, I can see the scrollbar but can't scroll it with mouse/touch. I thought that it may works if I put the corresponding listener since it works on TextView. Apparently, it isn't. EditText et = (EditText)findViewById(R.id.entryIdea); et.setMovementMethod(new ScrollingMovementMethod()); Can you guys help me on this? Thank you so much in advance. Sammy

  • EJB injection in Glassfish webapp

    - by g051051
I've got an app that is trying to use @EJB annotation to inject remote references to EJBs in my ejb.jar file. I'm getting inconsistent results. In one case, I have a listener in web.xml that gets called and apparently has the EJB injected correctly, since I can see it connecting to the EJB and calling methods on it. In another class (a struts2 action) I get NPE when it tries to access the EJB reference. As far as I can tell, they're identical calls, in Java classes that live in the same .war file. As a work around, I added code in the constructor to lookup the EJBs by their global JNDI names, and it works fine. I just can't figure out why one @EJB works and not another.

  • Java application if/case recommendation

    - by Jesse
I am writing an application for a Java course. I am a complete beginner and am just going off material I have learned from the course and from the web. The application is exhibiting some behavior and I am not sure what is causing it. The application is GUI based and does calculations on user input. For the action listener section, I have a set of If statements such as: "if this button do this if this button do this" All in a row like that. It seems as if the application is running ALL the if statements instead of running the one that corresponds with the button pressed. Would I be better off using a case/switch structure for this sort of thing? I can post my code if necessary, I am new around this site and am not sure if that thing is acceptable.

  • Actionscript Receiving Mouse Events For Lower Indexed And Partially Covered Display Objects?

    - by Chunk1978
    i have 2 sprites on stage. bottomSprite is added to the display list first, followed by topSprite. topSprite partially covers bottomSprite. i've added an event listener to bottomSprite for MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVED notifications to simply trace the mouseX and mouseY coordinates. however, the notification doesn't work for the parts of bottomSprite that are covered by topSprite. var bottomSprite:Sprite = new Sprite(); bottomSprite.graphics.beginFill(0x666666, 0.5); bottomSprite.graphics.drawRect(150,150, 150, 150); bottomSprite.graphics.endFill(); addChild(bottomSprite); var topSprite:Sprite = new Sprite(); topSprite.graphics.beginFill(0x00FFFF, 0.5); topSprite.graphics.drawRect(250,50, 150, 150); topSprite.graphics.endFill(); addChild(topSprite); bottomSprite.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, traceCoords); function traceCoords(evt:MouseEvent):void { trace ("Coord = X:" + bottomSprite.mouseX + ", Y:" + bottomSprite.mouseY); }

  • Text-based one-on-one chat with Flash interface: what to power the backend?

    - by Zachary Burt
Hey guys. I'm building a website where I hook people up so that they can anonymously vent to strangers. You either choose to be a listener, or a talker, and then you get catapulted into a one-on-one chat room. The reason for the app's construction is because you often can't vent to friends, because your deepest vulnerabilities can often be leveraged against you later on. (Like it or not, this is a part of human nature. Sad.) I'm looking for some insight into how I should architect everything. I found this neat tutorial, http://giantflyingsaucer.com/blog/?p=875, which suggests using python & stackless + flash. Someone else suggested I should try using p2p sockets, but I don't even know where to begin to look for info on that. Any other suggestions? I'd like to keep it simple. :^)

  • KeybListener problem

    - by rgksugan
    In my apllication i am using a jpanel in which i want to add a key listener. I did it. But it doesnot work. Is it because i am using a swingworker to update the contents of the panel every second. Here is my code to update the panel RenderedImage image = ImageIO.read(new ByteArrayInputStream((byte[]) get())); Graphics graphics = remote.rdpanel.getGraphics(); if (graphics != null) { Image readyImage = new ImageIcon(UtilityFunctions.convertRenderedImage(image)).getImage(); graphics.drawImage(readyImage, 0, 0, remote.rdpanel.getWidth(), remote.rdpanel.getHeight(), null); }

  • How to interact between GameCanvas and LCDUI elements on J2ME?

    - by Santiago
The thing is I writing a J2ME program that fisrt of all show a "menu" using graphics interface (GameCanvas) and when the user select one item, I need to setCurrent that item (ex. a List), but when return from the List (it could be because the user push a Command "Menu" Item) I need to show the menu again. The real problem when the menu show again, the keyPressed() listener of gamecanvas object stop working. Basically I have: A Midlet object with: GameCanvas object instance A List object instance I don't understand how that works, I didn't find tutorial that share low and high graphics-level APIs on one Midlet.

  • jQuery: move window viewport to show freshly toggled element

    - by k00k
I have a simple bit of jQuery in doc ready which toggles a div containing a textarea: $('div#addnote-area').hide(); // hide the div $('a#addnote-link').click(function() { // click event listener on link $('div#addnote-area').toggle(); // toggle the hidden div }); The toggle works fine when clicking the link. The problem I'm having is that if div#addnote-area is below the browser's current viewport, it remains there when it's shown. I'd like the user's cursor to go to the textarea and for the whole textarea to be viewable in the window. Click here to see an image for more context

  • Feedback, LiveChat or Call me Buttons - How to - Ajax

    - by user378464
Hi - I am looking for the best technology to provide customer ways to add our functionality through buttons on their websites. I know this can be done adding button to a body and attaching a click listener but I am stumped at a point where I need to resize my iframe (UI after they click a button) and it cannot be done from internal iframe. I wanted to check how getsatisfaction, invox, zendesk and other companies offer this functionality. is there a quick tip for this? I am just looking for modus operandi and not actual code. Many thanks.

  • Auto injecting logger with guice

    - by koss
With reference to Guice's custom injections article, its TypeListener performs a check for InjectLogger.class annotation - which can be optional. Removing that check will inject to all Logger.class types. class Log4JTypeListener implements TypeListener { public <T> void hear(TypeLiteral<T> typeLiteral, TypeEncounter<T> typeEncounter) { for (Field field : typeLiteral.getRawType().getDeclaredFields()) { if (field.getType() == Logger.class && field.isAnnotationPresent(InjectLogger.class)) { typeEncounter.register(new Log4JMembersInjector<T>(field)); } } } } I'm tempted to remove "&& field.isAnnotationPresent(InjectLogger.class)" from the listener. If we're using Guice to inject all instances of our Logger, is there any reason not to do it automatically (without need to annotate)?

  • How to host your own http-like server using ServiceHost?

    - by Ole Jak

  • Line by line image swing

    - by user1046017
I want to show an image as it is downloading, I have the URL, and I am trying to get the image parts like this: InputStream openStream = url.openStream(); DataInputStream dis = new DataInputStream(new BufferedInputStream(openStream)); ByteArrayOutputStream os = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); while ((s = dis.read(b)) != -1) { os.write(b , 0, s); support.firePropertyChange("stream", null, os); } This way, any listener get the stream and creates an image, this way: if("stream".equals(evt.getPropertyName())){ try { ByteArrayOutputStream stream = (ByteArrayOutputStream) evt.getNewValue(); byte[] byteArray = stream.toByteArray(); stream.flush(); Image createImage = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().createImage(byteArray); this.getContentPane().add(new JLabel(new ImageIcon(createImage))); } catch (IOException ex) { Logger.getLogger(ImageTest.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } } However, I am getting a "Premature end of JPEG file sun.awt.image.ImageFormatException: JPEG datastream contains no image" error, the image is a JPG image format, is there any library or method known to make something similar?

  • populate a listbox from a.. function?

    - by andrew
hello first of all i'm kinda new to C# I'm trying to do something like this in a C# winforms application when my app starts, a form starts minimized in the system tray. when i double click it, it opens and sends a request to a qpid broker for some info. then a message is sent back, and received in a listener in my app (i'm not sure code is relevant but i'll post it anyway) namespace MyApp { public class MyListener : IMessageListener { public void MessageTransfer(IMessage m) { //do stuff with m } } } what i'm trying to do is populate a listbox that's in that form with the message received in that function, but i have no idea how to communicate with that specific form from the MessageTransfer function

  • Adding mouse events to dynamically loaded SWF

    - by Josamoto
I am loading an external SWF using the Loader class, and adding it to the stage with addChild. When trying to add a mouse click event listener to the MovieClip, using addEventListener, nothing happens, the event never fires. Is there a specific way to add listeners to externally loaded movie clips? My code looks somewhat like this: var target:MovieClip = assets["screensaver"] as MovieClip; target.root.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClickScreenSaver, true); addChild(target); The target shows up on the display, but the CLICK event is completely ignored.

  • Flash Sprite looses focus on MOUSE_DOWN event

    - by John
My Sprite class keeps losing focus when I click with the mouse - specifically after the MOUSE_DOWN event (before the click is complete). I have set mouseEnabled to false on the children, no change. I added a listener for FOCUS_OUT and noticed that the FocusEvent.relatedObject property is NULL, which is confusing me - doesn't that mean there is no new focus target, the focus is just getting lost? The exact sequence of events I get, by tracing them, as I click: [FocusEvent type="focusOut" bubbles=true cancelable=false eventPhase=2 relatedObject=null shiftKey=false keyCode=0] [MouseEvent type="mouseDown" bubbles=true cancelable=false eventPhase=2 localX=355 localY=362 stageX=360 stageY=367 relatedObject=null ctrlKey=false altKey=false shiftKey=false buttonDown=true delta=0]) [MouseEvent type="click" bubbles=true cancelable=false eventPhase=2 localX=355 localY=362 stageX=360 stageY=367 relatedObject=null ctrlKey=false altKey=false shiftKey=false buttonDown=false delta=0]

  • Warn user when new data is inserted on database

    - by João Menighin
I don't know how to search about this so I'm kinda lost (the two topics I saw here were closed). I have a news website and I want to warn the user when a new data is inserted on the database. I want to do that like here on StackOverflow where we are warned without reloading the page or like in facebook where you are warned about new messages/notifications without reloading. Which is the best way to do that? Is it some kind of listener with a timeout that is constantly checking the database? It doesn't sounds efficient... Thanks in advance.

  • html5, adding an eventlistener to a drawn image on canvas

    - by pfunc
I am experimenting with html5 and I have a little image dropdown, the user selects and image and it draws it to the canvas using drawImage(); I can't seem to figure out how to add an event listener to the newly drawn image on the canvas. I have tried putting it in a variable like so: var newImg = ctx.drawImage(myImage, 200, 200); and then adding an eventlistener to that, but it doesn't seem to work. newImg.addEventListener('mousedown', onImgClick, false); What is the correct way to do this.

  • Any way to add an observer to the head of the queue using Element#observe?

    - by Josh
This might not be possible but before I rewrite part of my application I wanted to ask... I have a JavaScript app which creates a submit <input> and observes that input's click event using Prototype's Element#observe function. For a few particular pages on one particular site which uses this app, I need to apply some additional business logic before the code which executes normally when the button is clicked. Is there any way I can use Elemen#observe to add my new event handler before the existing event handler, so I can stop the event if these new conditions aren't met? If not I'll probably solve this the "proper" way by having the application fire a specific beforeTakingAction event and add a listener for that which prevents the application from taking it's action, but that's more complicated than this simple problem requires, and requires rewriting part of a shared application for just one user...

  • TcpListener problem - re-binding to same port with different local addresses

    - by Zvika
I'm trying to do the following: listen on some port for loopback connections only, and then start listening on any IP address. Here is the code: TcpListener l1 = new TcpListener(new IPEndPoint(IPAddress.Loopback, 12345)); l1.Start(); Socket s = l1.AcceptSocket(); Console.ReadKey(); //s.Close(); l1.Stop(); TcpListener l2 = new TcpListener(new IPEndPoint(IPAddress.Any, 12345)); l2.Start(); l2.AcceptSocket(); Console.ReadKey(); The problem is that if a client connects while listening on the Loopback address (l1), then no other client can connect to the Loopback address when the second listener (l2) starts listening. why is that? Another thing I noticed is that if I close all clients that connected to l1 (the remarked line), then l2 does accept loopback connections. Any ideas?

  • Configuring log4j at runtime

    - by Neil
I'm using org.apache.tools.ant.listener.Log4jListener to manage logging with my ant script. The ant script is highly configurable and designed to be run different ways with different parameters and therefore I need to be able to log to files specified at runtime. I have a log4j.properties which specifies a log file to be build.log, and despite my attempts to launch ant redefining properties defined in log4j.properties have been unsuccessful. The build ignores them and continues to write to build.log. I haven't found much support regarding writing to custom files unless it's in Java with their Logger class. Perhaps I'm thinking this through wrong. log4j.properties isn't treated in the same way as a property file in an ant script (hence overrideable from the command line)? Is there a way I can do this intelligently without writing a custom task or something?

  • How to build Firefox extention to intercept HTTP requests and responses?

    - by didizingo
Hi, how do I insert a listener to Firefox http requests and responses, so that I popup a window with the address requested and the response body? Note: I have to do this building an extension to Firefox. I need a button to activate or disable the feature. For every request, I need to popup a window with an "Ok" button to allow the request to be made. Likewise, I need to popup a window with the response body from the web server, with an "Ok" button to allow the content to be displayed by the browser. I know that I have to use nsIHttpChannel, as shown here, but I don't know where to put such code on the extention's architecture. I have very little knowledge about javascript. Could anyone help me?

  • Best way to force Spring shutdown from a bean?

    - by xcut
My application uses a Spring DefaultMessageListenerContainer to process incoming messages. The main method of the app already registers a shutdown hook. Question is this: what is the best way to force the application context to shut down? If I throw a RuntimeException in the message listener, it is handled by the container, and not passed on. Is calling System.exit acceptable? Do I pass along the ApplicationContext to every class that needs to shut down, so I can call close() on it?

  • What's the fastest lookup algorithm for a pair data structure (i.e, a map)?

    - by truncheon
    In the following example a std::map structure is filled with 26 values from A - Z (for key) and 0 – 26 for value. The time taken (on my system) to lookup the last entry (10000000 times) is roughly 250 ms for the vector, and 125 ms for the map. (I compiled using release mode, with O3 option turned on for g++ 4.4) But if for some odd reason I wanted better performance than the std::map, what data structures and functions would I need to consider using? I apologize if the answer seems obvious to you, but I haven't had much experience in the performance critical aspects of C++ programming. UPDATE: This example is rather trivial and hides the true complexity of what I'm trying to achieve. My real world project is a simple scripting language that uses a parser, data tree, and interpreter (instead of a VM stack system). I need to use some kind of data structure (perhaps map) to store the variables names created by script programmers. These are likely to be pretty randomly named, so I need a lookup method that can quickly find a particular key within a (probably) fairly large list of names. #include <ctime> #include <map> #include <vector> #include <iostream> struct mystruct { char key; int value; mystruct(char k = 0, int v = 0) : key(k), value(v) { } }; int find(const std::vector<mystruct>& ref, char key) { for (std::vector<mystruct>::const_iterator i = ref.begin(); i != ref.end(); ++i) if (i->key == key) return i->value; return -1; } int main() { std::map<char, int> mymap; std::vector<mystruct> myvec; for (int i = 'a'; i < 'a' + 26; ++i) { mymap[i] = i - 'a'; myvec.push_back(mystruct(i, i - 'a')); } int pre = clock(); for (int i = 0; i < 10000000; ++i) { find(myvec, 'z'); } std::cout << "linear scan: milli " << clock() - pre << "\n"; pre = clock(); for (int i = 0; i < 10000000; ++i) { mymap['z']; } std::cout << "map scan: milli " << clock() - pre << "\n"; return 0; }
