  • Nginx deny doesn't work for folder files

    - by user195191
    I'm trying to restrict access to my site to allow only specific IPs and I've got the following problem: when I access www.example.com deny works perfectly, but when I try to access www.example.com/index.php it returns "Access denied" page AND php file is downloaded directly in browser without processing. I do want to deny access to all the files on the website for all IPs but mine. How should I do that? Here's the config I have: server { listen 80; server_name example.com; root /var/www/example; location / { index index.html index.php; ## Allow a static html file to be shown first try_files $uri $uri/ @handler; ## If missing pass the URI to front handler expires 30d; ## Assume all files are cachable allow my.public.ip; deny all; } location @handler { ## Common front handler rewrite / /index.php; } location ~ .php/ { ## Forward paths like /js/index.php/x.js to relevant handler rewrite ^(.*.php)/ $1 last; } location ~ .php$ { ## Execute PHP scripts if (!-e $request_filename) { rewrite / /index.php last; } ## Catch 404s that try_files miss expires off; ## Do not cache dynamic content fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9001; fastcgi_param HTTPS $fastcgi_https; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME $document_root$fastcgi_script_name; include fastcgi_params; ## See /etc/nginx/fastcgi_params } }

  • Apache config: Permissions, Directories and Locations

    - by James Murphy
    I'm trying to get my head around apache configuration to fix a problem I'm having but after a few hours I've decided to ask here. This is what I've got at the moment: DocumentRoot "/var/www/html" <Directory /> Options None AllowOverride None Deny from all </Directory> <Directory /var/svn> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Allow from all </Directory> <Directory /opt/hg> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Allow from all </Directory> <Location /hg> AuthType Digest AuthName "Engage HG" AuthDigestProvider file AuthUserFile /opt/hg/hgweb.users Require valid-user </Location> WSGISocketPrefix /var/run/wsgi WSGIDaemonProcess hg processes=3 threads=15 WSGIProcessGroup hg WSGIScriptAlias /hg "/opt/hg/hgweb.wsgi" <Location /svn> DAV svn SVNPath /var/svn/repos AuthType Basic AuthName "Subversion" AuthUserFile /etc/httpd/conf/users require valid-user </Location> I'm trying to get my head around how it's all laid out and how directories relate to locations/etc For /hg I get asked for a password but to /svn I get a 403 forbidden... the error I get is: [client 10.80.10.169] client denied by server configuration: /var/www/html/svn When I remove the entry it works fine.. I can't figure out how to get it linking to the /var/svn directory

  • Nginx + PHPBB3 reverse proxy images problem

    - by siberiano
    Hello all I have a problem with my Nginx Frontend + Apache2 backend + PHPBB3 software. It doesn't load the CSS and the images neither. I get constant errors like these: 2010/04/14 16:57:25 [error] 13365#0: *69 open() "/var/www/foo/styles/styles/coffee_time/theme/large.css" failed (2: No such file or directory), client: 83.44.175.237, server: www.foo.com, request: "GET /styles/coffee_time/theme/large.css HTTP/1.1", host: "www.foo.com", referrer: "http://www.foo.com/viewforum.php?f=43" This is my config of the site: server { listen 80; server_name www.foo.com; access_log /var/log/nginx/foo.access.log; # serve static files directly location ~* ^.+.(jpg|jpeg|gif|css|png|js|ico)$ { access_log off; expires 30d; root /var/www/trasteando/; } location / { root /var/www/foo/; index /var/www/foo/index.php; } # proxy the PHP scripts to predefined upstream .apache. # location ~ .php$ { proxy_pass http://apache; } location /styles/ { root /var/www/foo/styles/; }

  • nginx virtual hosts are not working, all vhosts goes to the default one

    - by Adirael
    Hello, I just did a clean install of nginx + php-fpm on a VPS running Ubuntu 10.10, nginx is serving and PHP is working fine, but I'm not able to add vhosts to it. Well, I can add them, but only one works, the rest go to this first one. This is my first vhost, for host1: server { listen 80; server_name host1; access_log /var/log/nginx/host1.log; error_log /var/log/nginx/host1.error.log; location / { root /var/www/vhosts/host1/; index index.html index.htm index.php; } location ~ \.php$ { include /etc/nginx/fastcgi_params; #fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000; fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME /var/www/vhosts/host1/$fastcgi_script_name; fastcgi_param PATH_INFO $fastcgi_script_name; fastcgi_index index.php; } } And the second one, for host2: server { listen 80; server_name host2; access_log /var/log/nginx/host2.log; error_log /var/log/nginx/host2.error.log; location / { root /var/www/vhosts/host2/; index index.html index.htm index.php; } location ~ \.php$ { include /etc/nginx/fastcgi_params; #fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000; fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME /var/www/vhosts/host2/$fastcgi_script_name; fastcgi_param PATH_INFO $fastcgi_script_name; fastcgi_index index.php; } } The problem is, when I go to http://host1 everything is fine, but on http://host2, it just shows host1! I don't have Apache installed and everything comes from repos. Any pointers?

  • reverse proxying with NGINX to two back-end servers

    - by aag
    I am trying to learn how to configure the Nginx proxy. All requests from external (www.external.com) should go to internal server 10.10.10.16:2080, except for www.external.com/nagios requests, which should go to internal 10.10.10.18. My location block looks as follows: location ~* / { proxy_buffers 16 4k; proxy_buffer_size 2k; proxy_buffering off; proxy_set_header Host $host; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_set_header Accept-Encoding ""; proxy_pass http://10.10.10.16:2080; } # # nagios server location ~* /nagios/ { proxy_buffers 16 4k; proxy_buffer_size 2k; proxy_buffering off; # proxy_set_header Host $host; # proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; # proxy_set_header Accept-Encoding ""; proxy_pass http://10.10.10.18; } The first location seems to work fine. However, any request to www.external.com/nagios sends the browser into the eternal pastures. Of course, 10.10.10.18/nagios was tested and works fine. What am I missing?

  • Restricting access to one controller of an MVC app with Nginx

    - by kgb
    I have an MVC app where one controller needs to be accessible only from several ips(this controller is an oauth token callback trap - for google/fb api tokens). My conf looks like this: geo $oauth { default 0; 87.240.156.0/24 1; 87.240.131.0/24 1; } server { listen 80; server_name some.server.name.tld default_server; root /home/user/path; index index.php; location /oauth { deny all; if ($oauth) { rewrite ^(.*)$ /index.php last; } } location / { if ($request_filename !~ "\.(phtml|html|htm|jpg|jpeg|gif|png|ico|css|zip|tgz|gz|rar|bz2|doc|xls|exe|pdf|ppt|txt|tar|mid|midi|wav|bmp|rtf|js|xlsx)$") { rewrite ^(.*)$ /index.php last; break; } } location ~ \.php$ { fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock; fastcgi_index index.php; include fastcgi_params; } } It works, but does not look right. The following seems logical to me: location /oauth { allow 87.240.156.0/24; deny all; rewrite ^(.*)$ /index.php last; } But this way rewrite happens all the time, allow and deny directives are ignored. I don't understand why...

    I got a problem with NGINX limit_req_zone. Anyone can help? The problem is that, I want to limit user access to some specific URL, for example: /forum.php?mod=forumdisplay? /forum.php?mod=viewthread&*** But, I do want to add an exception for below URL, /forum.php?mod=image&* Below is the location section of my configuration, the problem is that, for URL started with /forum.php?mod=image&*, the limitation is still applied. Any body can help? location ~*^/forum.php?mod=image$ { root /web/www; fastcgi_pass unix:/tmp/nginx.socket; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME /scripts$fastcgi_script_name; include fastcgi_params; } location ~*^/(home|forum|portal).php$ { root /web/www; limit_conn addr 5; limit_req zone=refresh burst=5 nodelay; fastcgi_pass unix:/tmp/nginx.socket; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME /scripts$fastcgi_script_name; include fastcgi_params; } location ~ \.php$ { root /web/www; fastcgi_pass unix:/tmp/nginx.socket; fastcgi_index index.php; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME /scripts$fastcgi_script_name; include fastcgi_params; }

  • How to setup apache to catch a proxy_pass from nginx?

    - by Paté
    I have a working apache vhost such as <VirtualHost localhost:10006> DocumentRoot "/home/pate/***/git/kohana_site/public/site/" </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:10006> ServerName api.* DocumentRoot "/home/pate/***/git/kohana_site/public/api/" LogLevel debug </VirtualHost> If i point to localhost:10006 I get my website and api.localhost:10006 I get my api. Then I have haproxy setup on top of that, that runs on port 10010 and both localhost:10010 and api.localhost:10010 have the expected behaviour. Now I have nginx setup on port 80 with this configuration. server { listen 10000; server_name api.*; location / { proxy_pass http://legacy_server; } } server { listen 10000 default; server_name _; location /nginx_status { stub_status on; access_log off; } # images are accessed via the CDN over HTTP (not https) location /n/image { proxy_pass http://image_caching_server; } location / { return 301 https://$host:10014$request_uri; } } upstream legacy_server { server localhost:10010 fail_timeout=0; } the problem is that apache does not recognize the vhost properly and redirects api.localhost to the website instead of the api. I tried playing with set_proxy_header Host $host but it doesn't seem to do anything.

  • Removing HttpModule for specific path in ASP.NET / IIS 7 application?

    - by soccerdad
    Most succinctly, my question is whether an ASP.NET 4.0 app running under IIS 7 integrated mode should be able to honor this portion of my Web.config file: <location path="auth/windows"> <system.webServer> <modules> <remove name="FormsAuthentication"/> </modules> </system.webServer> </location> I'm experimenting with mixed mode authentication (Windows and Forms). Using IIS Manager, I've disabled Anonymous authentication to auth/windows/winauth.aspx, which is within the location path above. I have Failed Request Tracing set up to trace various HTTP status codes, including 302s. When I request the winauth.aspx page, a 302 HTTP status code is returned. If I look at the request trace, I can see that a 401 (unauthorized) was originally generated by the AnonymousAuthenticationModule. However, the FormsAuthenticationModule converts that to a 302, which is what the browser sees. So it seems as though my attempt to remove that module from the pipeline for pages in that path isn't working. But I'm not seeing any complaints anywhere (event viewer, yellow pages of death, etc.) that would indicate it's an invalid configuration. I want the 401 returned to the browser, which presumably would include an appropriate WWW-Authenticate header. A few other points: a) I do have <authentication mode="Forms"> in my Web.config, and that is what the 302 redirects to; b) I got the "name" of the module I'm trying to remove from the inetserv\config\applicationHost.config file; c) I have this element in my Web.config file: <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="false">; d) I tried a <location> element for the path in which I set the authentication mode to "None", but that gave a yellow exception page that the property can't be set below the application level. Anyone had any luck removing modules in this fashion?

  • Nginx Config - I can't access WordPress admin area

    - by WebDevDude
    I am a complete noob when it comes to Nginx, but I'm trying to make the switch over for my WordPress site. Everything works, even the permalink, but I can't access my WordPress admin directory (I get a 403 error). I have my WordPress install in a subfolder, so that complicates things a bit for me. Here is my Nginx config file: server { server_name mydomain.com; access_log /srv/www/mydomain.com/logs/access.log; error_log /srv/www/mydomain.com/logs/error.log; root /srv/www/mydomain.com/public_html; location / { index index.php; # This is cool because no php is touched for static content. # include the "?$args" part so non-default permalinks doesn't break when using query string try_files $uri $uri/ /index.php?$args; } location /myWordpressDir { try_files $uri $uri/ /myWordpressDir/index.php?$args; } location ~ \.php$ { include /etc/nginx/fastcgi_params; fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000; fastcgi_index index.php; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME /srv/www/mydomain.com/public_html$fastcgi_script_name; fastcgi_split_path_info ^(/myWordpressDir)(/.*)$; } location ~* ^.+\.(ogg|ogv|svg|svgz|eot|otf|woff|mp4|ttf|rss|atom|jpg|jpeg|gif|png|ico|zip|tgz|gz|rar|bz2|doc|xls|exe|ppt|tar|mid|midi|wav|bmp|rtf)$ { access_log off; log_not_found off; expires max; } }

  • Nginx: Rewriting directory path to file

    - by Doug
    I'm a little new to Nginx here so bear with me - I want to rewrite a url like foo.bar.com/newfoo?limit=30 to foo.bar.com/newfoo.php?limit=30. Seems pretty simple to do it something like this rewrite ^([a-z]+)(.*)$ $1.php$2 last; The part that I am confused about is where to put it - I've tried my hand at a some location directives but I'm doing it wrong. Here's my existing virtual host config, where should I implement my rewrite? server { listen 80; listen [::]:80; server_name foo.bar.com; root /home/foo; index index.php index.html index.htm; location / { try_files $uri $uri/ /index.html; } location /doc/ { alias /usr/share/doc/; autoindex on; allow 127.0.0.1; deny all; } location ~ \.php$ { try_files $uri =404; fastcgi_split_path_info ^(.+\.php)(/.+)$; include fastcgi_params; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME $document_root$fastcgi_script_name; fastcgi_pass unix:/tmp/php5-fpm.sock; fastcgi_index index.php; } } Thanks!

  • Nginx Removes the index.php from URL

    - by codeHead
    I have a codeigniter php application on nginx. It works as expected on Apache but after moving to nginx, I noticed that the index.php is automatically removed from the URL in all my links. Infact when I try using index.php it does not go to the desired URL but gets redirected to my default controller. below is a coopy of my nginx.conf file. server{ listen 80; server_name mydomainname.com; root /var/www/domain/current; # index index.php; error_log /var/log/nginx/error.log; access_log /var/log/nginx/access.log main; location / { # Check if a file or directory index file exists, else route it to index.php. try_files $uri $uri/ /index.php ; } location ~* \.php { fastcgi_pass backend; include fastcgi.conf; fastcgi_buffer_size 128k; fastcgi_buffers 4 256k; fastcgi_busy_buffers_size 256k; fastcgi_read_timeout 500; #fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME $document_root/index.php; add_header Expires "Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:01 GMT"; add_header Cache-Control "no-cache, no-store, private, proxy-revalidate, must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0"; add_header Pragma no-cache; add_header X-Served-By $hostname; } location ~* ^.+\.(css|js)$ { expires 7d; add_header Pragma public; add_header Cache-Control "public"; } # set expiration of assets to MAX for caching location ~* \.(ico|gif|jpe?g|png)(\?[0-9]+)?$ { expires max; log_not_found on; } } I need to use my URL With the index.php -- please help.

FYI the machine is running Windows Server 2003 RS SP2.

  • nginx configuration file explained

    - by Chris Muench
    I have a few questions about this configuration file "default" in /etc/nginx/sites-enabled. It is shown below. server { root /usr/share/nginx/www; index index.html index.htm; # Make site accessible from http://localhost/ server_name localhost; location / { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8080; } location /doc { root /usr/share; autoindex on; allow 127.0.0.1; deny all; } location /images { root /usr/share; autoindex off; } } There is no "Listen" directive, how does it know to default to 80 The server_name is localhost, how does another domain work? Why is the location directive embedded in the server directive? Does that mean these locations ONLY apply to this server? None of my configs have listen 80 default_server; how does nginx then pick what configuration to use?

  • 8 Things You Can Do In Android’s Developer Options

    - by Chris Hoffman
    The Developer Options menu in Android is a hidden menu with a variety of advanced options. These options are intended for developers, but many of them will be interesting to geeks. You’ll have to perform a secret handshake to enable the Developer Options menu in the Settings screen, as it’s hidden from Android users by default. Follow the simple steps to quickly enable Developer Options. Enable USB Debugging “USB debugging” sounds like an option only an Android developer would need, but it’s probably the most widely used hidden option in Android. USB debugging allows applications on your computer to interface with your Android phone over the USB connection. This is required for a variety of advanced tricks, including rooting an Android phone, unlocking it, installing a custom ROM, or even using a desktop program that captures screenshots of your Android device’s screen. You can also use ADB commands to push and pull files between your device and your computer or create and restore complete local backups of your Android device without rooting. USB debugging can be a security concern, as it gives computers you plug your device into access to your phone. You could plug your device into a malicious USB charging port, which would try to compromise you. That’s why Android forces you to agree to a prompt every time you plug your device into a new computer with USB debugging enabled. Set a Desktop Backup Password If you use the above ADB trick to create local backups of your Android device over USB, you can protect them with a password with the Set a desktop backup password option here. This password encrypts your backups to secure them, so you won’t be able to access them if you forget the password. Disable or Speed Up Animations When you move between apps and screens in Android, you’re spending some of that time looking at animations and waiting for them to go away. You can disable these animations entirely by changing the Window animation scale, Transition animation scale, and Animator duration scale options here. If you like animations but just wish they were faster, you can speed them up. On a fast phone or tablet, this can make switching between apps nearly instant. If you thought your Android phone was speedy before, just try disabling animations and you’ll be surprised how much faster it can seem. Force-Enable FXAA For OpenGL Games If you have a high-end phone or tablet with great graphics performance and you play 3D games on it, there’s a way to make those games look even better. Just go to the Developer Options screen and enable the Force 4x MSAA option. This will force Android to use 4x multisample anti-aliasing in OpenGL ES 2.0 games and other apps. This requires more graphics power and will probably drain your battery a bit faster, but it will improve image quality in some games. This is a bit like force-enabling antialiasing using the NVIDIA Control Panel on a Windows gaming PC. See How Bad Task Killers Are We’ve written before about how task killers are worse than useless on Android. If you use a task killer, you’re just slowing down your system by throwing out cached data and forcing Android to load apps from system storage whenever you open them again. Don’t believe us? Enable the Don’t keep activities option on the Developer options screen and Android will force-close every app you use as soon as you exit it. Enable this app and use your phone normally for a few minutes — you’ll see just how harmful throwing out all that cached data is and how much it will slow down your phone. Don’t actually use this option unless you want to see how bad it is! It will make your phone perform much more slowly — there’s a reason Google has hidden these options away from average users who might accidentally change them. Fake Your GPS Location The Allow mock locations option allows you to set fake GPS locations, tricking Android into thinking you’re at a location where you actually aren’t. Use this option along with an app like Fake GPS location and you can trick your Android device and the apps running on it into thinking you’re at locations where you actually aren’t. How would this be useful? Well, you could fake a GPS check-in at a location without actually going there or confuse your friends in a location-tracking app by seemingly teleporting around the world. Stay Awake While Charging You can use Android’s Daydream Mode to display certain apps while charging your device. If you want to force Android to display a standard Android app that hasn’t been designed for Daydream Mode, you can enable the Stay awake option here. Android will keep your device’s screen on while charging and won’t turn it off. It’s like Daydream Mode, but can support any app and allows users to interact with them. Show Always-On-Top CPU Usage You can view CPU usage data by toggling the Show CPU usage option to On. This information will appear on top of whatever app you’re using. If you’re a Linux user, the three numbers on top probably look familiar — they represent the system load average. From left to right, the numbers represent your system load over the last one, five, and fifteen minutes. This isn’t the kind of thing you’d want enabled most of the time, but it can save you from having to install third-party floating CPU apps if you want to see CPU usage information for some reason. Most of the other options here will only be useful to developers debugging their Android apps. You shouldn’t start changing options you don’t understand. If you want to undo any of these changes, you can quickly erase all your custom options by sliding the switch at the top of the screen to Off.

  • MD5 vertex skinning problem extending to multi-jointed skeleton (GPU Skinning)

    - by Soapy
    Currently I'm trying to implement GPU skinning in my project. So far I have achieved single joint translation and rotation, and multi-jointed translation. The problem arises when I try to rotate a multi-jointed skeleton. The image above shows the current progress. The left image shows how the model should deform. The middle image shows how it deforms in my project. The right shows a better deform (still not right) inverting a certain value, which I will explain below. The way I get my animation data is by exporting it to the MD5 format (MD5mesh for mesh data and MD5anim for animation data). When I come to parse the animation data, for each frame, I check if the bone has a parent, if not, the data is passed in as is from the MD5anim file. If it does have a parent, I transform the bones position by the parents orientation, and the add this with the parents translation. Then the parent and child orientations get concatenated. This is covered at this website. if (Parent < 0){ ... // Save this data without editing it } else { Math3::vec3 rpos; Math3::quat pq = Parent.Quaternion; Math3::quat pqi(pq); pqi.InvertUnitQuat(); pqi.Normalise(); Math3::quat::RotateVector3(rpos, pq, jv); Math3::vec3 npos(rpos + Parent.Pos); this->Translation = npos; Math3::quat nq = pq * jq; nq.Normalise(); this->Quaternion = nq; } And to achieve the image to the right, all I need to do is to change Math3::quat::RotateVector3(rpos, pq, jv); to Math3::quat::RotateVector3(rpos, pqi, jv);, why is that? And this is my skinning shader. SkinningShader.vert #version 330 core smooth out vec2 vVaryingTexCoords; smooth out vec3 vVaryingNormals; smooth out vec4 vWeightColor; uniform mat4 MV; uniform mat4 MVP; uniform mat4 Pallete[55]; uniform mat4 invBindPose[55]; layout(location = 0) in vec3 vPos; layout(location = 1) in vec2 vTexCoords; layout(location = 2) in vec3 vNormals; layout(location = 3) in int vSkeleton[4]; layout(location = 4) in vec3 vWeight; void main() { vec4 wpos = vec4(vPos, 1.0); vec4 norm = vec4(vNormals, 0.0); vec4 weight = vec4(vWeight, (1.0f-(vWeight[0] + vWeight[1] + vWeight[2]))); normalize(weight); mat4 BoneTransform; for(int i = 0; i < 4; i++) { if(vSkeleton[i] != -1) { if(i == 0) { // These are interchangable for some reason // BoneTransform = ((invBindPose[vSkeleton[i]] * Pallete[vSkeleton[i]]) * weight[i]); BoneTransform = ((Pallete[vSkeleton[i]] * invBindPose[vSkeleton[i]]) * weight[i]); } else { // These are interchangable for some reason // BoneTransform += ((invBindPose[vSkeleton[i]] * Pallete[vSkeleton[i]]) * weight[i]); BoneTransform += ((Pallete[vSkeleton[i]] * invBindPose[vSkeleton[i]]) * weight[i]); } } } wpos = BoneTransform * wpos; vWeightColor = weight; vVaryingTexCoords = vTexCoords; vVaryingNormals = normalize(vec3(vec4(vNormals, 0.0) * MV)); gl_Position = wpos * MVP; } The Pallete matrices are the matrices calculated using the above code (a rotation and translation matrix get created from the translation and quaternion). The invBindPose matrices are simply the inverted matrices created from the joints in the MD5mesh file. Update 1 I looked at GLM to compare the values I get with my own implementation. They turn out to be exactly the same. So now i'm checking if there's a problem with matrix creation... Update 2 Looked at GLM again to compare matrix creation using quaternions. Turns out that's not the problem either.

  • Defining Your Online Segmentation and Targeting Strategy

Often, I’ve heard web managers say that their segments aren’t well understood yet, so they can’t really deliver personalized online experiences that are meaningful. This lack of complete understanding means that they don't really bother to try. But, I don’t think you necessarily need to have an elaborate segmentation and targeting strategy already in place to start delivering a more relevant online customer experience. Sometimes it helps to think of how segmentation and targeting might solve some of the challenges your sites visitors are currently experiencing on your web presence, rather than doing nothing and waiting until a fully baked segmentation strategy lands in your inbox.  For example, perhaps you have a broad and varied service offering that makes it difficult for site visitors to easily find the solutions that are most relevant for them.  How can segmentation and targeting help solve this problem?  Or maybe it’s like the airline I described in Monday’s post where the special deals featured on the home page are only relevant to site visitors from a couple of cities.  Couldn’t segmentation and targeting help them to highlight offers on their home page that are relevant to a larger share of their site visitors? Your early segmentation and targeting efforts do not need to be complicated.  There are simple ways to start delivering a more relevant online customer experience, even if you’re dealing with anonymous site visitors.  These include targeting content to site visitors based on: Referral: Deliver targeted content to your site visitors that is based on where they came from or the search term they used to find your site Behavior:  Deliver content to your site visitors that is related or similar to content they’ve clicked on already Location:  Deliver content your site visitors that is most relevant for their geographic location (this would solve that pesky airline home page problem described above) So as you can see, there really are some very simple ways in which you can start improving your online customer experience using very basic segmentation and targeting methods.  One thing to keep in mind as you start to define you segmentation and targeting strategy is that there are many different types of attributes or combinations of attributes upon which you can base your segmentation and targeting strategy.  In addition to referral, behavior and location, other attributes that you should consider are: Profile Information:  What profile information do you know about this customer already?  Perhaps they provided some information on their interests and preferences when they first registered with your site. Time:  What time is it and how does that impact what my site visitors are looking for or trying to do? Demographics: What are my site visitors’ ages, incomes or ethnicities? Which attributes you select to include in your segmentation strategy will depend on your unique business needs and objectives.  Attributes such as behavior or referral may not be the most important targeting criteria depending on your situation. For example, if you’re a newspaper you might know that certain visitors are sports fans based on their profile information.  You can create a segment for sports fans and target sports related content to that segment of your readership online.  Or perhaps, a reader is browsing stories that are related to politics; you can use that visitor’s behavior to assign him or her to a segment for those interested in politics. From there you can recommend more stories to that visitor based on their interest in politics. For an airline, the visitor’s location may be a more important attribute. By detecting the visitor’s location, you can assign them to an appropriate segment and then target special flights and offers to them based on their likely departure airport. As you can see, there are many practical ways that you can start improving the experience your customers receive on your web presence using fairly basic segmentation and targeting techniques. • Is there a way to display multiple power point documents in separate power point windows?

    - by Chris Reynolds
    In Microsoft PowerPoint 2007, when opening multiple .pptx/.ppt documents simultaneously, the documents are opened in the same physical PowerPoint window. I was wondering if anyone was aware of a way to separate these documents into separate physical windows. I am aware that you can arrange and cascade separate documents within the same PowerPoint window, but I find that method a bit awkward and frustrating (especially when juggling more than two documents simultaneously).

Is anyone aware of any other application that uses the SOA listed primary DNS server in one way or the other? By a fake primary server I mean either: Inaccessible by anything else other than secondary servers (this is called hidden primary correct? unsure). If my server is placed in PTP v2 enabled network which has grand master clock. And the switch is PTP aware. The server is W2008R2 (soon to be W2012). I also have PTP v2 software client. How does the master clock messages are getting on with Windows Server? Does it need special PTP-aware NIC or it will be treated as normal networking traffic and the software receives it through regular NIC no problem?

Any clue on how to fix this with the ImportDoctor? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <wsdl:definitions xmlns:wsdl="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/" xmlns:axis2="http://ws.apache.org/axis2" xmlns:wsaw="http://www.w3.org/2006/05/addressing/wsdl" xmlns:http="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/http/" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap/" xmlns:mime="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/mime/" xmlns:soap12="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap12/" targetNamespace="http://ws.apache.org/axis2"> <wsdl:types/> <wsdl:portType name="__SynapseServicePortType"> <wsdl:operation name="mediate"> <wsdl:input message="axis2:null" wsaw:Action="urn:mediate"/> <wsdl:output message="axis2:null" wsaw:Action="urn:mediateResponse"/> </wsdl:operation> </wsdl:portType> <wsdl:binding name="__SynapseServiceSoap11Binding" type="axis2:__SynapseServicePortType"> <soap:binding transport="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/http" style="document"/> <wsdl:operation name="mediate"> <soap:operation soapAction="urn:mediate" style="document"/> <wsdl:input> <soap:body use="literal"/> </wsdl:input> <wsdl:output> <soap:body use="literal"/> </wsdl:output> </wsdl:operation> </wsdl:binding> <wsdl:binding name="__SynapseServiceSoap12Binding" type="axis2:__SynapseServicePortType"> <soap12:binding transport="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/http" style="document"/> <wsdl:operation name="mediate"> <soap12:operation soapAction="urn:mediate" style="document"/> <wsdl:input> <soap12:body use="literal"/> </wsdl:input> <wsdl:output> <soap12:body use="literal"/> </wsdl:output> </wsdl:operation> </wsdl:binding> <wsdl:binding name="__SynapseServiceHttpBinding" type="axis2:__SynapseServicePortType"> <http:binding verb="POST"/> <wsdl:operation name="mediate"> <http:operation location="mediate"/> <wsdl:input> <mime:content type="text/xml" part="mediate"/> </wsdl:input> <wsdl:output> <mime:content type="text/xml" part="mediate"/> </wsdl:output> </wsdl:operation> </wsdl:binding> <wsdl:service name="__SynapseService"> <wsdl:port name="__SynapseServiceHttpsSoap11Endpoint" binding="axis2:__SynapseServiceSoap11Binding"> <soap:address location="https://localhost:8843/services/__SynapseService.__SynapseServiceHttpsSoap11Endpoint"/> </wsdl:port> <wsdl:port name="__SynapseServiceHttpSoap11Endpoint" binding="axis2:__SynapseServiceSoap11Binding"> <soap:address location="http://localhost:8880/services/__SynapseService.__SynapseServiceHttpSoap11Endpoint"/> </wsdl:port> <wsdl:port name="__SynapseServiceHttpsSoap12Endpoint" binding="axis2:__SynapseServiceSoap12Binding"> <soap12:address location="https://localhost:8843/services/__SynapseService.__SynapseServiceHttpsSoap12Endpoint"/> </wsdl:port> <wsdl:port name="__SynapseServiceHttpSoap12Endpoint" binding="axis2:__SynapseServiceSoap12Binding"> <soap12:address location="http://localhost:8880/services/__SynapseService.__SynapseServiceHttpSoap12Endpoint"/> </wsdl:port> <wsdl:port name="__SynapseServiceHttpsEndpoint" binding="axis2:__SynapseServiceHttpBinding"> <http:address location="https://localhost:8843/services/__SynapseService.__SynapseServiceHttpsEndpoint"/> </wsdl:port> <wsdl:port name="__SynapseServiceHttpEndpoint" binding="axis2:__SynapseServiceHttpBinding"> <http:address location="http://localhost:8880/services/__SynapseService.__SynapseServiceHttpEndpoint"/> </wsdl:port> </wsdl:service> </wsdl:definitions>
