• How do I stop postfix from handling my mail?

  Here's the situation: I have a domain, let's say domain.com. That domain has Google Apps for Business enabled, so all mail delivered to @domain.com will end up at Google (MX records point to Google). I have a PHP script at domain.com that I use to send mail to myself. But when the PHP script tries to send mail to [email protected], Postfix at that server decides that the recipient is a local user (because the address matches the domain Postfix itself is at), and tries to deliver the mail locally. But inevitably fails as the mailbox cannot be found. How can I instruct Postfix to not try to handle locally any emails to @domain.com and just send them forward so Google can pick them up? I have already removed $myhostname from mydestination field in Postfix's main.cf file, and I have restarted Postfix but Postfix still tries to deliver the mail locally. • Where to put the SPF TXT record?

  I've set up Google apps for my domain: I've registered the domain with Google by adding the CNAME Google asked and I've apparently succesfully setup the MX Google mail servers. So far I haven't yet a dedicated server: I'm just having a domain at a registrar. Now I want to activate SPF and I'm confused. In the following short webpage: http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/answer.py?answer=178723 it is written that I must add a TXT record containing: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all Where should I enter this? Should this go in the zone (?) file, like I did for the CNAME and the MX records? So far I have something like this: @ 10800 IN A 217.42.42.42 @ 10800 IN MX 5 ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. @ 10800 IN MX 5 ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. @ 10800 IN MX 3 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. @ 10800 IN MX 3 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. @ 10800 IN MX 1 ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. google8a70835987f31e34 10800 IN CNAME google.com. Does adding the SPF TXT record mean I should literally have something like that: @ 10800 IN A 217.42.42.42 @ 10800 IN MX 5 ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. @ 10800 IN MX 5 ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. @ 3600 IN TXT "v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all" @ 10800 IN MX 3 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. @ 10800 IN MX 3 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. @ 10800 IN MX 1 ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. google8a70835987f31e34 10800 IN CNAME google.com. I made that one up and included right in the middle to show how confused I am. What I'd like to know is the exact syntax and where/how I should put this TXT record.

• Work from home on an iPad?

  The situation: My wife has a 13" MacBook Pro that she uses for email, Facebook, web surfing, and working from home. I'm about to buy us our first iPad. My wife's brother's computer just went belly-up, and she's contemplating giving him her MacBook and just using the iPad. The question is whether or not this is possible or realistic. Obviously, the iPad is well-suited for the email/web/Facebook tasks, but the working-from-home thing is an absolute must -- if the iPad can't handle that, it's a deal-breaker. For my wife, working from home means two things: Accessing her workplace computer's Windows Vista desktop, which she currently does via Remote Desktop. Editing Office documents locally, which she currently syncs via Dropbox. Being able to edit documents locally is important, because sometimes she will download documents and edit them when she doesn't have network access (e.g. on the subway). I'm more than happy to get a keyboard dock for her, so typing won't be an issue. Are there any iPad apps she can use to access her work computer and edit her work files? Thanks for any suggestions!

• Strange problem with Google Mail and IMAP on Outlook 2007

  I work for a small non-profit organization. We have about 35 administrative employees who use e-mail. We're on a Windows network with a domain. Everyone is running XP Pro and Office 2007 with all updates/patches. We used to use POP3 mail through a local provider. However, we recently signed-up for a free Google Apps account, and we switched to IMAP mail through Google. Everyone uses Outlook 2007 as the client. For about ten days, everything was working fine. Yesterday afternoon, we suddenly developed a strange and annoying problem. Every time you send an e-mail message, a copy of your outgoing message shows up in your inbox. It's as if you're adding your own address to the CC: line of every message. Nothing has changed on our end. I was hoping that the problem was a temporary glitch that would resolve itself, but here we are about 24 hours later, and it's still happening. I searched Twitter, and there were a handful of vague messages about issues with Google mail and IMAP, but I didn't see any references to this specific problem. Any thoughts on what's going on here and how to fix it?

  I just want to know how other people set up their MX-entries for mail accounts used with google apps. I work at a local web-hosting firm and we get a lot of tickets from clients who want to set up these settings. I just set them up something like: example.com. 14400 IN MX 10 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. example.com. 14400 IN MX 10 ASPMX4.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. example.com. 14400 IN MX 15 ASPMX5.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. example.com. 14400 IN MX 15 ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. example.com. 14400 IN MX 30 ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. I see another firm (rival one) who sets up way more MX-records ? Roughly, around 10-15 entries. Am I doing something wrong ? More is better in this case ? Is there a secret that I'm not on too ?

• I have bought a custom domain and am using it with Gmail. All My mail is being sent as spam. What can I do?

  A while ago, I purchased my own custom domains for my websites. Before I moved them to Gmail, I just created the e-mails in my CPanel at Bluehost.com and worked from there. When the setup was like that, I could send and receive e-mail fine, and it wouldn't be marked as spam. Now I have moved these custom domains to send and receive e-mails at Gmail using Google apps. I have done everything. I have marked the domains as "Authorized" and I believe that should be enough for the mail I send with these custom e-mails is not send as spam. If it matters, I have configured my iPhone to use these custom domains with it and I'm sending all the e-mail from it. What can I do? I started doing all this today but apparently the DNS changes have already taken place. Is there something I have to do, or is it a matter of waiting 48 hours for my mail to not be marked as spam by other providers yet? EDIT: If I send mail via Gmail itself, the mail is delivered fine. If I use my iPhone however, it gets marked as spam.

• Good practice to create extension methods that apply to System.Object?

  Hello, I'm wondering whether I should create extension methods that apply on the object level or whether they should be located at a lower point in the class hierarchy. What I mean is something along the lines of: public static string SafeToString(this Object o) { if (o == null || o is System.DBNull) return ""; else { if (o is string) return (string)o; else return ""; } } public static int SafeToInt(this Object o) { if (o == null || o is System.DBNull) return 0; else { if (o.IsNumeric()) return Convert.ToInt32(o); else return 0; } } //same for double.. etc I wrote those methods since I have to deal a lot with database data (From the OleDbDataReader) that can be null (shouldn't, though) since the underlying database is unfortunately very liberal with columns that may be null. And to make my life a little easier, I came up with those extension methods. What I'd like to know is whether this is good style, acceptable style or bad style.   We use Jira/Greenhopper for our project planning/tracking. The built-in graphs are great, but when a new issue/story is added during a project, the whole burn-down graph moves up rather than increasing the part of the graph when the issue was added. Ideally I'd like to generate a Mike Cohn-style burndown graph, which shows a hump when new issues are added. Does anyone know of any plugins that support this, or been able to extract this data directly from the database?

• Panels-style UI for arbitrary CCK fields?

  I have a Drupal content type that has unlimited photo, textbox, and external link CCK fields, but while fields themselves can be reordered via drag-drop (i.e. photo B before photo A), I can't arbitrarily order amongst fields (i.e. photo B, link A, photo A, text A, link B). Panels is awesome, with its drag and drop, and just what I'm looking for interface-wise. Has anyone seen a Panels-style UI for ordering arbitrary collections of disparate CCK fields?

I've created a blank C++ metro app and I've just added a model that I will bind to in my UI however I'm getting a range of compiler warnings related to xamltypeinfo.g.cpp and I'm not sure what I've missed.   If I create a Google apps script, can I hook it up to Google spreadsheet to run based on an event, or must I manually invoke it? I don't know if Google spreadsheet supports any events. For example: a Google app script that strikes out rows in the spreadsheet that have been marked completed by way of a column having the digit 1 beside completed rows. I would like this to run whenever a row is modified, or even when the spreadsheet is first loaded.

• Ignoring hover style in inside image

  I want the style to apply on the "a" elements, and not the img. Here's an example: a:hover {background: #555;} I tried to do something like this: a:hover img {background: none;} though I knew it's not going to do anything. The solution I found in this question didn't work for me, because the "display: none" is moving the image when hovering.

My setup looks like this: \lstset{ basicstyle=\ttfamily, keywordstyle=\bfseries, language=Java, frame=single, aboveskip=11pt, belowskip=11pt, breaklines=true, breakatwhitespace=false, showspaces=false, showstringspaces=false } The keywords are not highlighted bold when using ttfamily, but if I use small or don't specify the basic style, they're highlighted fine. What am I missing?
