• Setup LAN to serve webpages and voip and access to the web site from inside LAN with domain name

  I'd like to know if it will work: I have my domain and I´m serving a webpage in a nginx to the internet, but if I type my domain in my laptop inside LAN I access to my modem/router configuration, I cannot access to the web server unless I type the IP address. I would like to add a Bind server after the modem/router - (port forward, ports 80 and 5060), if the request is www.mydomain.com bind should resolve the nginx IP address and serve it, and if it is a voip request should address to the voip server and if I'd like to access to the website from inside LAN I'd like to type mydomain.com. Could I do it with this configuration? Do I need something else? Thanks in advace!

• Multiple vlan issue with procurve switch

  I have a cisco asa5505 as my rtr/fw(10.1.3.254). I have vlan 1 and vlan 3. Vlan 1 is my default all access vlan. Vlan 3 is my Guest(dmz) vlan. I can't seem to get a dhcp ip address when my laptop is plugged into port 42 on my procurve. I have plugged my laptop directly into the firewall and it gets a dhcp ip fine(the firewall is dhcp server). the firewall is plugged into port 41. Only vlan3 needs to go over port 41. • How to stop intermittent playback on airtunes (iTunes + Airport Express)?

  Is there a definitive answer for how to stop intermittent "skips" or pauses while playing music from iTunes to an airport express connected to my home stereo? When I read other forums I see a wealth of posts that say "I did XYZ and it's fixed" followed by "I tried XYZ and it didn't work." This does not appear to be signal strength related. The green light on the Airport Express does not turn to yellow/orange. Other wireless devices have no trouble connecting at the same or greater distances from the wireless router.

  Time Warner Cable/ Road Runner router shows up some times on the network list on Mac OS X 10.6.3 Snow Leopard. It makes a spotty appearence on the list. The router is a SMC Networks Model # SMC8014WG-SI. The default gateway numbers all do not work. 192.168.0.1 192.168.1.1 192.168.2.1 10.10.10.1 What IP adress am I looking for here to log in to the router to fix the issue?

• iSCSI connection timing out on ESX 3.5 against a NetApp storage appliance

  I get a timeout on iSCSI on different ESX hosts (3.5) at different times. It is puzzling, as both the ESX hosts as windows and other guests are experiencing timeouts. The iSCSI network is segregated on a private network. • Windows 8 unable to connect to WPA2 AES Wireless Network

  I'm running Windows 8 and am unable to connect to my home wireless network. I've tried restarting the router, patching the drivers to the next version, patching the drivers to the last version, running windows update and patching the chipset drivers to the latest version. So far nothing has worked. My computer can get on the internet via USB tethering on my phone or an open WiFi connection, but it is unable to connect to my home WPA2 AES secured wireless network. It sees the network, attempts to connect, gets a limited connection and then drops the connection. All the other wireless devices in my household have no problems. I have the new Dell XPS 12, running Windows 8 using an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 wireless adapter. I've refreshed windows twice now to try different driver configurations. I've tried uninstalling all the Dell software, I've tried uninstalling all the Intel software and reinstalling just the drivers. I've tried turning switching the ability for the Wireless driver to turn the computer off or on. I've tried setting up the connection manually from desktop mode. I've tried switching it on and off using the wireless button on the keyboard and in the software. So far nothing has allowed me to connect to the secured network. It just keeps getting a limited connection, dropping the connection and retrying. It's driving me crazy, any ideas, anything I missed? Thanks.

  I have got two NICs configured on a VM - each is tied to a specific network, one is a DMZ, the other is an internal network. I want MySQL to listen on the internal network only and Apache on the DMZ listening for HTTP and HTTPS. But as soon as I add the second interface I run into trouble. I can hit HTTP on either interface, but can not hit 3306 on the internal network for MySQL. • Configuring VLAN's on two HP procurve switches

  Trying to route a new ISP (Microwave link) from one of my out buildings to my computer room and hence my firewall. Old ISP came direct into firewall. In the outbuilding the Microwave modem connects with cat5 to HP Procurve 2524 switch. Because this ISP is coming through my internal network, I plan on using a new vlan called "airspeed" only for this ISP traffic. Up until now I've just been using the Default_vlan on both HP switches (4108 + 2524). So far I've been unable to ping from my laptop to the ISP modem both of which are on the new vlan 2 ("Airspeed"). No traffic needs to cross from vlan 2 to vlan 1 so I've left the ports as untagged. I've used the subnet provide from my ISP as the new vlan 2 subnet. Can anybody see what I'm doing wrong here? I've added the configuration of both switch below. • Check packet vlan tag using Tap virtual interface

  Hi all, I am trying to learn how to implement virtual interfaces using the Tap driver. So far my understanding is that using the tap driver I can create a virtual interface and then have a userspace program attach to this interface to analyse the data coming into this device. Now what if I attach a cisco switch to my LAN interface using a TRUNK link, forward all the packets coming into the LAN interface to the virtual tap interface and then in my program attached to this interface do some coding to analyze the vlan tag in the packet and only allow certain vlans to be forwarded to the WAN interface ? Does this sound plausible or is there is flaw in my basic understanding ? Thanks for the help! ankit

• Windows user account just for accessing network shares on a Windows 7 machine

  I would like my Xbox (Xbmc) to access my Windows 7 shares without having Guest accounts enabled and without using my Administrator account login details. I have tried making it an account called Xbox and this works fine but the Xbox account appears on the login page for Windows. Is there a way to create an account that is purely for accessing shares without it appearing as a user account????

• Changing subnet-mask of class-c network host to 255.255.0.0

  We have a existing class-c network with IP address range 11.22.33.44/24 (just for example). My domain controller has been configured within this subnet. So all servers within this subnet have subnet mask configured to 255.255.255.0. Now we have got a new subnet with IP address 11.22.88.99/24 (note that only last 2 octets have changed). I want all new hosts in this new subnet to join my existing DC. For this we have configured firewall properly so allow this. (so there is no issue with firewall). But initially I was not able to join hosts in new subnet in existing domain. Later I doubted on subnet mask used in domain controller (255.255.255.0) and for testing purpose I changed it to 255.255.0.0, it worked like charm, i was able to join subnet-2 hosts in subnet-1 domain. Now i am wondering whether it will be good practice to change subnet mask of a class-c network to 255.255.0.0? Can any issues arise due to this? Experts please provide your opinion.

• Setting up Windows 2008 with VPN and NAT

  I have a Windows 2008 box set up with VPN, and that works quite well. NPS is used to validate the VPN clients, who are able to access the private address of the server, once connected. I can't for the life of me get NAT working for the VPN clients, though. I've added NAT as a routing protocol, and set the one on in the VPN address pool as private, and the other as public - but it still won't NAT connections when I add a route through the VPN server's IP on the client side (route add SomeInternetIp IpOfPrivateInterfaceOnServer). I know I can reach the server's private interface (which happens to be 10.2.2.1) with remote desktop client, so I can't think of any issues with the VPN.

• windows 7 no internet access

  Just did a fresh install of Windows 7, and the network and sharing center says no internet access. Disabling and enabling the adapter seems to fix the issue temporarily, but the internet stops working shortly after. I have installed the latest NIC drivers and have installed all Windows updates. I have also tried manually setting the ip/gateway/dns and running netsh int ip reset in an elevated command prompt. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit with a wired connection. I have searched for hours, but have found no working solutions. Does anyone have any ideas?

• Cannot connect to local network shares when connected to VPN. Error: "the user name could not be found"

  I keep finding that on our small company LAN (7 users, 3 servers) that some servers keep becoming "not accessible" for the purposes of file sharing. They display the message "\SERVER is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. The user name could not be found". But I don't know why "the user name could not be found" as all the machines are on the same domain and the PDC and BDC seem to be behaving OK. EDIT: VPN seems to be the cause: It turns out I can see the server if I use the IP address (\\1.2.3.4\ etc) or the FQ active directory name (eg \server.domainname.local) but not if I use the server name on its own or a mapped network drive originally created from the "short" name. Oddly though, my machine has no issue resolving the server's DNS name as I can ping the machine name OK and it immediately comes back with the IP, however nslookup seems to fail. It seems to be a problem with how Windows looks up machine names when connected to VPNs. When I'm connected to a VPN, windows seems to use the DNS assocated with the VPN and not the one on the domain controller. This behavior to me, seems incorrect as surely that would mean connecting to any VPN would break any ability to lookup local machine names for servers and printers etc. So I guess the real question now is, how can I make my machine still search the local Active Directory DNS (the PDC) even when connected to a VPN? • Vista ICS issue

  I have a strange problem with Internet Connection Sharing on a laptop running Vista Business. This laptop is connected to the internet via the ethernet port, which goes to an ADSL modem. it is automatically assigned the IP address 192.168.1.50, and the modem/gateway is 192.168.1.1 My friends laptop is running Vista Home. Previously, I would create an ad hoc wireless network, enable ICS, and everything would be perfect. My friend would have internet access via this. However, something has now mysteriously broken. If I enable ICS on the wireless connection, it resets my Local Area Connection, assigning it the manual IP address of 192.168.0.1, which means my connection to the internet is destroyed. Both wireless adapters on each network are assigned auto configuration addresses, in the 168. range. They can see each other fine, but my friends laptop cannot access the internet via mine, even after I have restored the Local Area Connection settings. I understand the computer with ICS enabled must have the IP of 192.168.0.1, but previously, before whatever went wrong, my wireless adapter would be 192.168.0.1 and my friends computer would get an IP via DHCP. I have also tried setting static IP address and making a bridge, none of which works. How can I fix this problem, and prevent enabling ICS from touching my Local Area Connection? Both machines have no firewall, have appropriate settings etc...

It should be based on ASP.NET so I can add some extra specific pages offer a membership system, e.g. I want to be able to define members which can e.g. comment posts, while anonymous users can only read (no active participation) have features like news, forums, blogs, picture gallery be simple and easy to use I've been looking at GraffitiCMS: so far my favorite, but it has no forum, and no membership system, and no future, it seems - no development whatsoever in over a year :-( Sitefinity: had extreme trouble even getting it installed, and when it's finally up and running, I find it overly complicated and not intuitive at all Umbraco: same problem - hard to install, hard to get up and running, the intro videos on their site are only available to paying subscribers (what's up with that deal???)..... DotNetNuke: seems like a major overkill Community Server: seems like a major overkill - and seems to be more and more commercial, only Any others I've missed that I should have definitely looked at ??

• Permanently change IP address on SuSE 10

  I am trying to change IP address of a SuSE 10 machine that is running Tomcat. I need to create a shell script to do this so could not use YaST. As some sites suggested on my Google search, I edited the files in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth-* to change the IP address. After that, I restarted the network service by calling /etc/init.d/network restart. The network card restarting just fine. I, then, restarted tomcat web service. However, when I browsed the new IP address using browser, I got an "Request denied" message. Can anyone please tell me how I could do this? Thanks

• How can I set up multiple dynamic users to update a single network's dynamic IP

  On my home network we are allocated a dynamic IP. I want to configure ddclient (or an equivalent) to send IP updates to DNS-O-Matic/OpenDNS only when I am on my home network. I do not want to send IP updates when I'm on my office network. Can this be done? I am prepared to use different FLOSS software or a different free DNS service. Additionally, there are multiple users who may be on the home network or away on other networks. How can we configure ddclient on each machine so that whoever is on the home network updates the IP (i.e. so we don't have to rely on a particular machine being on the network to update the IP). OpenDNS support have said we can't simply install updater software on each machine.
