• An item with the same key has already been added.

- by senzacionale
Can someone advice me how to prevent this error. An item with the same key has already been added.? // Failed to find a matching SessionFactory so make a new one. if (sessionFactory == null) { Check.Require(File.Exists(sessionFactoryConfigPath), "The config file at '" + sessionFactoryConfigPath + "' could not be found"); Configuration cfg = new Configuration(); cfg.Configure(sessionFactoryConfigPath); /*MINE*/ var persistenceModel = new PersistenceModel(); persistenceModel.AddMappingsFromAssembly(Assembly.Load("EMedicine.Core")); persistenceModel.Configure(cfg); /*END_OF_MINE*/ // Now that we have our Configuration object, create a new SessionFactory sessionFactory = cfg.BuildSessionFactory(); if (sessionFactory == null) { throw new InvalidOperationException("cfg.BuildSessionFactory() returned null."); } if (sessionFactoryConfigPath != null) sessionFactories.Add(sessionFactoryConfigPath, sessionFactory); } Error is here: sessionFactory = cfg.BuildSessionFactory();

• Spring HibernateTemplate: how it deals with transactions?

- by EugeneP
Could you explain, what happens behind the scene? Transaction management when using this template in Spring is absolutely unclear. What if I invoke 10 DAO methods that all use the same Hibernatetemplate and I invoke them one after another? Every method runs within its own transaction? It's not effective is not it?

• Castle ActiveRecord optimistic locking on properties

- by Daniel T.
Can Castle ActiveRecord do optimistic locking on properties? I found optimistic locking for the entire class, but not for an individual property. In my case, I need to make it so that adding/removing elements in a collection does not update the version number of the entity (so for example, adding a Product to a Store without changing any of Store's properties will not increment the version number).

• similarity match

- by csetzkorn
Many search engine have the 'did you mean' functionality. Is there a simple way to use (N)Hibernate (e.g. ICriteria) to find an entity (e.g. keyword) based on similarity. Please note that I do not mean Expression.Like or something like this. I hope this question makes sense. Thanks. Christian

• Is there any way to optimize this LINQ where clause that searches for multiple keywords on multiple

- by Daniel T.
I have a LINQ query that searches for multiple keywords on multiple columns. The intention is that the user can search for multiple keywords and it will search for the keywords on every property in my Media entity. Here is a simplified example: var result = repository.GetAll<Media>().Where(x => x.Title.Contains("Apples") || x.Description.Contains("Apples") || x.Tags.Contains("Apples") || x.Title.Contains("Oranges") || x.Description.Contains("Oranges") || x.Tags.Contains("Oranges") || x.Title.Contains("Pears") || x.Description.Contains("Pears") || x.Tags.Contains("Pears") ); In other words, I want to search for the keywords Apples, Oranges, and Pears on the columns Title, Description, and Tags. The outputted SQL looks like this: SELECT * FROM Media this_ WHERE (((((((( this_.Title like '%Apples%' or this_.Description like '%Apples%') or this_.Tags like '%Apples%') or this_.Title like '%Oranges%') or this_.Description like '%Oranges%') or this_.Tags like '%Oranges%') or this_.Title like '%Pears%') or this_.Description like '%Pears%') or this_.Tags like '%Pears%') Is this the most optimal SQL in this case? If not, how do I rewrite the LINQ query to create the most optimal SQL statement? I'm using SQLite for testing and SQL Server for actual deployment.

• How can I inject multiple repositories in a NServicebus message handler?

- by Paco
I use the following: public interface IRepository<T> { void Add(T entity); } public class Repository<T> { private readonly ISession session; public Repository(ISession session) { this.session = session; } public void Add(T entity) { session.Save(entity); } } public class SomeHandler : IHandleMessages<SomeMessage> { private readonly IRepository<EntityA> aRepository; private readonly IRepository<EntityB> bRepository; public SomeHandler(IRepository<EntityA> aRepository, IRepository<EntityB> bRepository) { this.aRepository = aRepository; this.bRepository = bRepository; } public void Handle(SomeMessage message) { aRepository.Add(new A(message.Property); bRepository.Add(new B(message.Property); } } public class MessageEndPoint : IConfigureThisEndpoint, AsA_Server, IWantCustomInitialization { public void Init() { ObjectFactory.Configure(config => { config.For<ISession>() .CacheBy(InstanceScope.ThreadLocal) .TheDefault.Is.ConstructedBy(ctx => ctx.GetInstance<ISessionFactory>().OpenSession()); config.ForRequestedType(typeof(IRepository<>)) .TheDefaultIsConcreteType(typeof(Repository<>)); } } My problem with the threadlocal storage is, is that the same session is used during the whole application thread. I discovered this when I saw the first level cache wasn't cleared. What I want is using a new session instance, before each call to IHandleMessages<.Handle. How can I do this with structuremap? Do I have to create a message module?

• Approaches to use Repositories (w/ StructureMap) with AutoMapper?

- by jacko
Any idea how I can tell AutoMapper to resolve a TypeConverter constructor argument using StructureMap? ie. We have this: private class GuidToContentProviderConverter : TypeConverter<Guid, ContentProvider> { private readonly IContentProviderRepository _repository; public GuidToContentProviderConverter(IContentProviderRepository repository) { _repository = repository; } protected override ContentProvider ConvertCore(Guid contentProviderId) { return _repository.Get(contentProviderId); } } And in the AutoMap registration: Mapper.CreateMap<Guid, ContentProvider>().ConstructUsing<GuidToContentProviderConverter>(); However, this generates a compile-time error about ctor args. Any ideas? Or ideas to other approaches for using Automapper to hydrate domain objects from viewmodel ID's using a repository?

• FluentNHibernate 1.1 / Castle 1.1 dependency

- by Innogetics
I would like to upgrade my FluentNHibernate to version 1.1, but I found out it uses Castle.Core 1.1. I use Castle.Windsor 1.2 in my app which works with Castle.Core 1.2. I now need to find a version of Castle.Windsor that uses this earlier version of Castle.Core, but I can't find it anywhere. What do you recommend I should do? Wait for a version of FluentNHibernate that uses the latest Castle.Core? OR build FluentNHibernate 1.1 from source using the latest Castle.Core? OR downgrade my Castle.Windsor version?

• Fluent NHib causing visual studio 2010 hanging at runtime

- by Berryl
Just installed and migrated a 2008 solution on Vista ultimate 64 and .net 4.0. Everything builds and tests run surprisingly well but I got the hang description below while trying to run the app under SQLite. It turns out that the hang has got something to do when the call is made for FNH to build the session factory during a run, the only feedback I get is that the database wasn't configure properly without any inner exception. The strange part is that the exact code works perfectly under tests. Any clues? Description: A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows. • Handling national language prefix for checkconstraints

- by Chris Chilvers
I'm trying to create a check constraint such as CHECK Type IN (N'Create', N'Remove') for an enumeration's value. Sqlite complains about this syntax and only accepts CHECK Type IN ('Create', 'Remove'). The main database will be Sql Server 2005, but I use sqlite's in memory database for unit tests. Is there any way to get sqlite to recognise the national language (N) prefix? Alternatively, is there an easy way when using FluentNHibernate to adapt an nvarchar constant to match the database's dialect?

• Criteria API - How to get records based on collection count?

- by Cosmo
Hello Guys! I have a Question class in ActiveRecord with following fields: [ActiveRecord("`Question`")] public class Question : ObcykaniDb<Question> { private long id; private IList<Question> relatedQuestions; [PrimaryKey("`Id`")] private long Id { get { return this.id; } set { this.id = value; } } [HasAndBelongsToMany(typeof(Question), ColumnRef = "ChildId", ColumnKey = "ParentId", Table = "RelatedQuestion")] private IList<Question> RelatedQuestions { get { return this.relatedQuestions; } set { this.relatedQuestions = value; } } } How do I write a DetachedCriteria query to get all Questions that have at least 5 related questions (count) in the RelatedQuestions collection? For now this gives me strange results: DetachedCriteria dCriteria = DetachedCriteria.For<Question>() .CreateCriteria("RelatedQuestions") .SetProjection(Projections.Count("Id")) .Add(Restrictions.EqProperty(Projections.Id(), "alias.Id")); DetachedCriteria dc = DetachedCriteria.For<Question>("alias").Add(Subqueries.Le(5, dCriteria)); IList<Question> results = Question.FindAll(dc); Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

• How to use Linq with Castle ActiveRecord

- by Ronnie Overby
I am playing around with Castle ActiveRecord and noticed that the download included the file, Castle.ActiveRecord.Linq.dll. I haven't found any documentation for using Linq with ActiveRecord, only some old blog posts. What is the usage pattern? Is Castle.ActiveRecord.Linq ready for production use? I'm using reflector, pending an answer.

• How to restrict access to a class's data based on state?

- by Marcus Swope
In an ETL application I am working on, we have three basic processes: Validate and parse an XML file of customer information from a third party Match values received in the file to values in our system Load customer data in our system The issue here is that we may need to display the customer information from any or all of the above states to an internal user and there is data in our customer class that will never be populated before the values have been matched in our system (step 2). For this reason, I would like to have the values not even be available to be accessed when the customer is in this state, and I would like to have to avoid some repeated logic everywhere like: if (customer.IsMatched) DisplayTextOnWeb(customer.SomeMatchedValue); My first thought for this was to add a couple interfaces on top of Customer that would only expose the properties and behaviors of the current state, and then only deal with those interfaces. The problem with this approach is that there seems to be no good way to move from an ICustomerWithNoMatchedValues to an ICustomerWithMatchedValues without doing direct casts, etc... (or at least I can't find one). I can't be the first to have come across this, how do you normally approach this? As a last caveat, I would like for this solution to play nice with FluentNHibernate :) Thanks in advance...

• polymorphic hql

- by Berryl
I have a base type where "business id" must be unique for a given subclass, but it is possible for there to be different subclasses with the same business id. If there is a base type with a requested id but of the wrong subclass I want to return null, using a named query. The code below does this, but I am wondering if I can avoid the try/catch with a better HQL. Can I? Cheers, Berryl current hql <query name="FindActivitySubjectByBusinessId"> from ActivitySubject act where act.BusinessId = :businessId </query> current fetch code public ActivitySubject FindByBusinessId<T>(string businessId) where T : ActivitySubject { Check.RequireStringValue(businessId, "businessId"); try { return _session.GetNamedQuery("FindActivitySubjectByBusinessId") .SetString("businessId", businessId) .UniqueResult<T>(); } catch (InvalidCastException e) { // an Activity Subject was found with the requested id but the wrong type return null; } }

• Entity Framework: Generating database from classes

- by Anonymous Coward
Hi Everyone Is it possible to create the database from the classes with entity framework 4.0? I found many tutorials on how to do it the other way round. But since we have already implemented and tested all classes of the domain we'd like to avoid changing them to much. If I used the wrong keywords in Google I'd appreciate you could post a link. • HQL over ternary map with subcollection

- by Diego Mijelshon
I'm stuck with a query I need to write. Given the following model: public class A : Entity
{ public virtual IDictionary<B, C> C { get; set; } } public class B : Entity
{ } public class C : Entity
{ public virtual int Data1 { get; set; } public virtual ICollection<D> D { get; set; } } public class D : Entity
{ public virtual int Data2 { get; set; } } I need to get a list of A instances that have a D containing some data for the specified B (parameter) In the object model, that would be: listOfA.Where(a => a.C[b].D.Any(d => d.Data2 == 0)) But I wasn't able to write a working HQL. I'm able to write something like the following, which filters on C.Data1: from A a where a.C[:b].Data1 = 0 But I'm unable to do anything with the elements of a.C[:b].D (I get various parsing exceptions) Here are the mappings, in case you're interested (nothing special, generated by ConfORM): <class name="A">

<key column="a_key" /> <map-key-many-to-many class="B" /> <one-to-many class="C" /> </class> <class name="B">

</class> <class name="C">

<property name="Data1" /> <bag name="D"> <key column="c_key" /> <one-to-many class="D" /> </bag> </class> <class name="D">

<property name="Data2" /> </class> Thanks!

• How to eager fetch a child collection while joining child collection entities to an association

- by ShaneC
Assuming the following fictional layout Dealership has many Cars has a Manufacturer I want to write a query that says get me a Dealership with a Name of X and also get the Cars collection but use a join against the manufacturer when you do so. I think this would require usage of ICriteria. I'm thinking something like this.. var dealershipQuery = Session.CreateCriteria< Dealership>("d") .Add(Restrictions.InsenstiveLike("d.Name", "Foo")) .CreateAlias("d.Cars", "c") .SetFetchMode("d.Cars", FetchMode.Select) .SetFetchMode("c.Manufacturer", FetchMode.Join) .UniqueResult< Dealership>(); But the resulting query looks nothing like I would have expected. I'm starting to think a DetachedCriteria may be required somewhere but I'm not sure. Thoughts?

• Criteria query returns hydrated object in SQLite but not SqlServer

- by Berryl
I have a method that returns a resource fully hydrated when the db is SQLite but when the identical code is used by SqlServer the object is not fully hydrated. I'll explain that with the code after some brief background. I my domain various otherwise unrelated things like an Employee or a Machine can be used as a Resource that can be allocated to. In the object model an example of this would be: ///
Wraps a <see cref="StaffMember"/> in a <see cref="ResourceBase"/>.
public class StaffMemberResource : ResourceBase { public virtual StaffMember StaffMember { get; private set; } public StaffMemberResource(StaffMember staffMember) { Check.RequireNotNull<StaffMember>(staffMember); base.BusinessId = staffMember.Number.ToString(); base.Name = staffMember.Name.ToString(); base.OrganizationName = staffMember.Department.Name; StaffMember = staffMember; } [UsedImplicitly] protected StaffMemberResource() { } } And in the db tables, there is a table per class inheritance where the ResourceBase has a discriminator and the id of the actual resource (ie, StaffMember) StaffMember - 1 ---- M- ResourceBase - 1 ----- M - Allocation The Code public override StaffMemberResource BuildResource(IActivityService activityService) { var sessionFactory = _GetSessionFactory(); var session = sessionFactory.GetCurrentSession(); StaffMemberResource result; using (var tx = session.BeginTransaction()) { var propertyName = ExprHelper.GetPropertyName<StaffMember>(x => x.Number); var staff = session.CreateCriteria<StaffMember>() .Add(Restrictions.Eq(propertyName, new EmployeeNumber(_testData.Resource_1.BusinessId))) .UniqueResult<StaffMember>(); if (staff == null) { ... build up a staff member result = new StaffMemberResource(staff); } else { ////////// var property = ExprHelper.GetPropertyName<StaffMemberResource>(x => x.StaffMember); result = session.CreateCriteria<StaffMemberResource>() .Add(Restrictions.Eq(property, staff)) .UniqueResult<StaffMemberResource>(); } /////////// tx.Commit(); } return result; } It's that second criteria query that works "properly" with SQLite but not with SqlServer. By properly I mean that the employee numer is translated into a ResourceBase.BusinessId, Name is flattened out into a ResourceBase.Name, etc. Does anyone know why this might be? Cheers, Berryl

• How to write a Criteria Query when there's an <any> association

- by Bevan
I'm having some trouble constructing the correct Criteria to do a particular query - after an afternoon of consultation with Professor Google, I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction. I have two entities of interest: OutputTsDef and NamedAttribute What I'm trying to do is to find all OutputTsDef that have a particular NamedAttribute value. I can write a detached Criteria to find all NamedAttributes that have a given name and value: var attributesCriteria = DetachedCriteria.For<INamedAttribute>() .Add(Expression.Eq("Name", "some name")) .Add(Expression.Eq("Value", "some value")); How do I inject this in to a query for OutputTsDef to restrict the results? var criteria = nHibernateSession.CreateCriteria(typeof(IOutputTsDefEntity)); // What do I write here? var results = criteria.List(); NamedAttribute looks like this - note the use of [Any] as we can have NamedAttributes on many kinds of entity. [AttributeIdentifier("DbKey", Name = "Id.Column", Value = "NamedAttributeID")] [Class(Table = "NamedAttributes")] public class NamedAttribute : BusinessEntity, INamedAttribute { [Any(0, Name = "Entity", MetaType = "System.String", IdType = "System.Int32")] [MetaValue(1, Class = "Sample.OutputTsDef, Sample.Entities", Value = "OTD")] [MetaValue(2, Class = "Sample.OutputTimeSeriesAttributesEntity, Sample.Entities", Value = "OTA")] [Column(3, Name = "OwnerType")] [Column(4, Name = "OwnerKey")] public virtual IBusinessEntity Entity { get; set; } [Property(Column = "Name")] public virtual string Name { get; set; } [Property(Column = "Value")] public virtual string Value { get; set; } ... omitted ... } In regular SQL, I'd just include an extra "where" clause like this: where OutputTsDefId in ( select distinct OwnerKey from NamedAttributes where Name = ? and Value = ? and OwnerType = 'OTD' ) What am I missing? (Question also posted to the NHUsers mailing list - I'll copy any useful information from there, here.)
