• How to display a tree of objects in a JTree?

  Imagine a collection of objects such as World, Country, Region and City. World contains a list of Country objects, Country contains a list of Region objects etc. I would like to represent this structure in a JTree and be able to add, remove and move objects around the tree. Can I easily create a TableModel from this structure? World would be the root object and I would need to perform some object-specific rendering. Any one know of an appropriate tutorial?

  Let's say I have the following structure: abstract class Hand {} class Rock extends Hand {} class Paper extends Hand {} class Scissors extends Hand {} The goal is to make a function (or a method) Hand::compareHands(Hand $hand1, Hand $hand2), which would return the winning hand in a rock-paper-scissors match. That would be very easy with a bunch of ifs, but the point is to have a more robust structure, that's relying on polymorphism rather than on procedural code. P.S. this is done in actual production code, if someone is asking. This isn't some sort of challenge or homework. (It's not really rock-paper-scissors, but you get the point).

• Python Parse CSV Correctly

  I am very new to Python. I want to parse a csv file such that it will recognize quoted values - For example 1997,Ford,E350,"Super, luxurious truck" should be split as ('1997', 'Ford', 'E350', 'Super, luxurious truck') and NOT ('1997', 'Ford', 'E350', '"Super', ' luxurious truck"') the above is what I get if I use something like str.split(). How do I do this? Also would it be best to store these values in an array or some other data structure? because after I get these values from the csv I want to be able to easily choose, lets say any two of the columns and store it as another array or some other data structure. • Django i18n: makemessages only on site level possible?

  I have several strings in my site that don't belong to any app, for example {% block title %}{% trans "Login" %}{% endblock %} or a modified authentication form used to set the locale cookie class AuthenticationFormWithLocaleOption(AuthenticationForm): locale = forms.ChoiceField(choices = settings.LANGUAGES, required = False, initial = preselectedLocale, label = _("Locale/language")) Now when I execute django-admin.py makemessages --all -e .html,.template in the site directory, it extracts the strings from all Python, .html and .template files, including those in my apps. That is because I develop my apps inside that directory: Directory structure: sitename myapp1 myapp2 Is there any way to extract all strings that are not in my apps? The only solution I found is to move the app directories outside the site directory structure, but I'm using bzr-externals (similar to git submodules or svn externals) so that doesn't make sense in my case. Moving stuff that needs translation into a new app is also possible but I don't know if that is the only reasonable solution.

• Confusion in bind call in socket programming

  i was learning socket programming in unix using c/c++. I am confused with one function call bind(params..). Actually it takes the adreess structure "sockaddr_in" and we can create the structure in the following way sockaddr_in.*** = somthing.. sockaddr_in..s_addr htonl(INADDR_ANY) **Passing INADDR_ANY will alow to bind all local addresses** My question is , why do we need to use "INADDR_ANY" ? In my knowledge every machine can has only one unique IP Address. In this way there is only one address associated with the machien. Thye bind call should directly bind the socket to the single available address. Please explain what are the different scenarios and why is it so?

  I have an Xcode project with a directory structure like this: MasterProjectDir/projectname.xcodeproj MasterProjectDir/ProjectSubDir/whatever.c MasterProjectDir/ProjectSubDir/etc.c MasterProjectDir/ProjectSubDir/Makefile My xcodeproj uses an external build target to point to the Makefile using these settings: Build Tool: /usr/bin/make Arguments: $(ACTION) Directory: ./ProjectSubDir For various reasons, I need to change the project directory structure to look like this: MasterProjectDir/projectname.xcodeproj MasterProjectDir/whatever.c MasterProjectDir/etc.c MasterProjectDir/Makefile I copied the .xcodeproj file into the ProjectSubDir and the project somehow still knows where to look for the files (?!?! - this is odd because their location is set as "relative to group" and I've just moved the xcodeproj file). It won't build. I get the following error: make: * No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop. Command /usr/bin/make failed with exit code 2 I could use a little help on this. There must be a setting I need to change somewhere.

  I've messed with Access a little bit in the past, had one class on OO theory, and one class on console c++ apps. Now, as a hobby project, I'm undertaking to write an actual app, which will be a database app using System.Data.SQLite and C#. I have the db's table structure planned. I have System.Data.SQLite installed and connected to VS Pro. I entered my tables and columns in VS, but that's where I'm stuck. I really don't know how to finish the db set up so I can start creating queries and testing the db structure. Can someone give me guidance to online resources that will help me learn how to get the db properly set up so I can proceed with testing it? I'm hoping for online resources specific to beginners using C# and System.Data.SQLite, but I'll use the closest I can get. Thanks.

  I have an inheritance structure of objects with begin() and end() as pure virtual member functions in the base class. From this objects I'm planning to build a composite structure. This inner objects have std::vector member the begin() and end() get their data from. But in a leaf class there is no vector. Now I try to find a return value for begin() and end() in the leaf classes. What would be a good way to do that? The easiest way would be to have a vector member in the leaf classes with no elements in it to fuel begin() and end(), but this just doesn't feel right.

  Situation: I have a DAY structure. The DAY structure has three variables or attributes: a Date (NSString*), a Temperature (float), and a Rainfall (float). Problem: I will be iterating through an array of about 5000 DAY structures and graphing a portion of these onto the screen using OpenGL. Question: As far as drawing performance, which is better? I could simply create an NSMutableArray of DAY structures (NSObjects) and iterate on the array on each draw call -- which I think would be hard on the CPU. Or, I could instead manually manage three different C-Arrays -- One for the Date String (2-Dimensional), One for the temperature (1-Dimensional) and One for the Rainfall (1-Dimensional). I could keep track of the current Day by referencing the current index of the iterated C-Arrays.

I need what logic will be applied for this, like if 1000 people voted for the article, some given rating as 2 or 3 or1 or 5. • Jenkins Build fails when artifacts are not there

  I use Jenkins to run some integration tests on a web appilcation (using cucumber, capybara and selenium) Everytime a test fails, a screenshot, the HTML source and a video of the process is saved. the path structure looks like this: results/output/<test_name>/<files> I use the archive artifacts feature of Jenkins to provide the files (pattern: results/output/*/*). It works great. However as soon as a build succeeds, there are no screenshots/videos etc... and the build fails because Jenkins cannot find the files for the pattern. Is there a way to tell Jenkins to succeed without having the files present? I don't want to do a dirty hack which involves creating an empty folder structure like result/output/success/hooray.txt.

  I'm building a SQL Alchemy structure with three different levels of objects; for example, consider a simple database to store information about some blogs: there are some Blog object, some Post object and some Comment objects. Each Post belongs to a Blog and each Comment belongs to a Post. Using backref I can automatically have the list of all Posts belonging to a Blog and similarly for Comments. I drafted a skeleton for such a structure. What I would like to do now is to have directly in Blog an array of all the Comments belonging to that Blog. I've tried a few approaches, but they don't work or even make SQL Alchemy cry in ways I can't fix. I'd think that mine is quite a frequent need, but I couldn't find anything helpful. Colud someone suggest me how to do that? Thanks.

• Using indentation to make CSS more readable? (making parents and children more identifiable in CSS)

  I've been always guiding myself with the following CSS structure: #nav { } #nav li { } #nac li a { } This structure tells me clearly who is the parent and the child. But in a recent article (I think it was CSS Trick) someone said that CSS is read from right to left. So the more tags I had the slower it will be (and sometimes I think its unnecessary to write every single tag involve in the selector). So it may be something like this: #nav { } #special-link { } where #special-link is #nav's child. I know this is not a big problem in a simple stylesheet but in a big one I always would get confused about who is who's parent and child. Another solution would be: #nav { } #special-link { } Indentation How do you solve with this CSS dilemma?

Specifically I am stumped in the vicinity of these topics: How do you deal with situations where a model's resources are available to both the public and the Admin? i.e. A User model where anyone can create users, login, etc but only the admin can view users, delete/update them, etc. What is the proper convention for routing?   We have two websites which only diference is in the design (Diferent images, styles, layouts..etc) but the web structure of files and cs code is the same so we want to simplify its manteinance... The actual structure would be: DefaultA.aspx DefaultA.aspx.cs DefaultB.aspx DefaultB.aspx.cs LoginA.aspx LoginA.aspx.cs LoginB.aspx LoginB.aspx.cs One idea would be changing the design differencies at runtime depending of the origin website, but we dont like much this because performance, abstraction in designing them and url confusion... Another one is sharing the cs (both aspx inheriting and using the same cs) file but we never have done or seen it done in any website before so we wonder if its a good aproach... What do you think? Any other way better in terms of performance vs development-ease?

  Hello everyone. I would like to create a vertical splitted site structure using two divs: My intention is to have d2 next to d1 in a horizontal align structure (same line). What i get is not this. In fact using that code, d2 does not take the remaining space, but collapses to the min width. if I use WRONG because d2 goes down and takes all the space (but both divs are in different lines).
