  • Formatting numbers with significant figures in C#

    I have some decimal data that I am pushing into a SharePoint list where it is to be viewed. I'd like to restrict the number of significant figures displayed in the result data based on my knowledge of the specific calculation. Sometimes it'll be 3, so 12345 will become 12300 and 0.012345 will become 0.0123. Occasionally it will be 4 or 5. Is there any convenient way to handle this?

  • How to specify 'root' in path in text file

    I'm following this tutorial located here on how to create a launcher for eclipse in unity. Everything is going pretty well so far, I've managed to successfully create the launcher but when I click on it, my system complains that the path to the exec is wrong. My exec for eclipse is located here: ~/opt/eclipse/eclipse And if you look at the tutorial you have to create a file and set it's contents like so: [Desktop Entry] Type=Application Name=Eclipse Comment=Eclipse Integrated Development Environment Icon=eclipse Exec=./opt/eclipse/eclipse Terminal=true Categories=Development;IDE;Java; In my case I have to provide the full location for the exec and there are a number of things that I tried that didn't work I set 'exec' to 'Exec=~/opt/eclipse/eclipse' , 'Exec=/opt/eclipse/eclipse' and 'Exec=root/opt/eclipse/eclipse' and none of these worked.. What should I set it to in order to fix the path so that my luancher works? Update------------------ I tried to list those 2 directories and what i get is this:

  • odd resharper indentation formatting for object intializers

    For some strange reason when I have nested object intializers it always gets the last '}' wrong.   • Resharper code format linebreaks

    Im trying to setup the code formatting in ReSharper. Limiting each line to a maximum count of characters, it seems to want to place casts on a separate line. Like so: string mystring = (string) MyStringConverter.convert(toconvert, typeof(string), null, null); I cant seem to be able to find the correct combination of settings to not have this on three lines. Im looking for something like this: string mystring = (string) MyStringConverter.convert( toconvert, typeof(string), null, null); Where the linebreak occurs is not that important, I guess I cant be to picky when I want to limit the line length. But three lines is a bit much. Does anyone know the/any correct combination of settings to make it only cut the line once?

    I'm making some experiments with Visual Studio's CodeModel. I tried creating a file with two namespaces in there through VS's Code Model: CodeModel codeModel = projItem.ContainingProject.CodeModel; codeModel.AddNamespace("Namespaces.FirstNamespace", "namespacestest.cs"); codeModel.AddNamespace("Namespaces.SecondNamespace", "namespacestest.cs"); the output of such code is: //file namespacestest.cs namespace Namespaces.FirstNamespace { } namespace Namespaces.SecondNamespace { } Which is almost what I'm looking for. The only catch here is that I'd like to control the spacing: having at least one line between the first and the second namespace. Does by chance anyone know of a way of achieving this?     Context: .Net, C# I want to print a complex number made from two doubles. The sign needs to show on the imaginary part. I'd like to use the default double formatting for each part to minimize the number of characters. I tried using String.Format("{0:+G;-G}{1:+G;-G}j", real, imaginary) but this ended up printing: "+G-Gj". Not quite what I wanted. Is there any way to do this using the G specifier or do I need to do a custom format which would sacrifice auto-switching the exponent, e.g. {1:+#.######e###;-#.######e###}j"

    I have a HTML node like so: <b>Bold text</b> A variable $el contains a DOMElement reference to the text of that HTML node ("Bold text"), got from the XPath expression //b/text() I want to change the element to <b><span>Bold Text</span></b> So I tried: $span = $doc->createElement('span', "Bold Text"); $el->parentNode->replaceChild($span,, $el) which fails because parentNode is null. So, as a test, I tried: $el-insertBefore($span, $el); which throws no errors but produces no change in the output. Any thoughts?

    I am going to use a large image on my page with a bunch of text on it. The reason I am including body text on an image is because the text will be rotated, and there currently isn't any GREAT solution for rotating text seamlessly across all browsers. On this image, there is a lot of text, and I want it to be indexed by search engines. (but its a picture so it's content won't be indexed, obviously) If I was to include a div with all the text html and set the css to display:none, would Google still index the content that is hidden under the picture? Are their any other solid solutions here?

  • "Zoom" text to be as big as possible within constraints/box

    First problem: You have 400 pixels width to go on, and need to fit some text within that constraint as large as possible (thus, the text shall use that amount of space). Throw in a new constraint: If the text is just "A", then it shall not zoom this above 100 pixels (or some specific font size). Then, a final situation: Linebreaks. Fit some text in the largest possible way within e.g. 400 x 150 pixels. An obvious way is to simply start with point 1, and then increase until you can't fit it anymore. This would work for all three problems, but would be very crude. The fitting of a single line within bounds could be done by writing it with some fixed point size, check the resulting pixel bounds of the text, and then simply scale it with a transform (the text scales properly too then, check out TransformUI). Any ideas of other ways to attack this would be greatly appreciated!

  • Steam not displaying text on wine 1.5 running on Ubuntu 12.04

    Hello fellow dwellers of askubuntu, as the title says I'm having difficulties with getting Steam to run properly. I think I have the solution but I am pretty incompetent with Ubuntu (just started using it the other day) so a step by step process would be unbelievably appreciated! The dwrite seems to be the issue in all this but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do anything about it. Any useful input is what I'm hoping for but for the brave soul who feels like typing a bit more, perhaps a step-by-step list of instructions starting from downloading Steam off the official website, would be my saving grace. If there is any more info you guys need let me know and I'll of course be happy to oblige!

  • Text Link is Hiding my Image Link

    I have a image where text/link is overlayed on top. My problem is that sometimes the text in the foreground will hide the link in the image in the background. I assume this is because the text box forms an invisible rectangle around the text, thus creating a region that appears it should belong to the image but is actually being covered by the text. I am wondering if it is possible that when I mouse over this region, I will be linking to my image link as oppose to my text link (see illustration). http://jsfiddle.net/WHpMr/

  • What's the most straightforward way to typeset MLA-style college essays in LaTeX?

    I've been using LaTeX for a little while now to typeset my algorithms homework, and I really like the quality of the output as well as the ease-of-use. I'd like to starting using LaTeX in other classes as well, but non–computer-science subjects have more stringent formatting requirements than I've come across in CS. Most classes that require essays want them to be formatted in MLA style, but I'm not sure what to best way to do that using LaTeX is. I've tried Googling "latex mla" and other similar things, but I've found many different MLA templates, and my LaTeX skills aren't good enough to determine which is the best. Is anyone else using LaTeX for "normal" essays, and, if so, how are you doing it?

  • Vim: change formatting of variables in a script

    I am using vim to edit a shell script (did not use the right coding standard). I need to change all of my variables from camel-hum-notation startTime to caps-and-underscore-notation START_TIME. I do not want to change the way method names are represented. I was thinking one way to do this would be to write a function and map it to a key. The function could do something like generating this on the command line: s/<word under cursor>/<leave cursor here to type what to replace with> I think that this function could be applyable to other situations which would be handy. Two questions: Question 1: How would I go about creating that function. I have created functions in vim before the biggest thing I am clueless about is how to capture movement. Ie if you press dw in vim it will delete the rest of a word. How do you capture that? Also can you leave an uncompleted command on the vim command line? Question 2: Got a better solution for me? How would you approach this task?

    When a browser displays the HTML sent from a web server it parses the received markup into a Document Object Model, or DOM, which models the markup as a hierarchical structure.     I have a method for drawing strings in 3D that does the following: Set a render target Draw each character as a quadrangle using a orthographic projection to the render target Unset the render target Draw the render target texture using a perspective projection and a world transform My problem is how to deal with strings whose characters length exceeds that of the render target dimensions? For example if I have string "This is a reallllllllllly long string" and the render target can't accommodate it, it will only capture "This is a realllll". The render target (and its size) could be set each frame but wouldn't that be far too costly?
