  • Turning Floats into Their Closest (UTF-8 Character) Fraction.

    - by Mark Tomlin
    I want to take any real number, and return the closest number, with the closest fraction as available in the UTF-8 character set, appropriate. 0/4 = 0.00 = # < .125 1/4 = 0.25 = ¼ # > .125 & < .375 2/4 = 0.50 = ½ # > .375 & < .625 3/4 = 0.75 = ¾ # > .625 & < .875 4/4 = 1.00 = # > .875 I made this function to do that task: function displayFraction($realNumber) { if (!is_float($realNumber)) { return $realNumber; } list($number, $decimal) = explode('.', $realNumber); $decimal = '.' . $decimal; switch($decimal) { case $decimal < 0.125: return $number; case $decimal > 0.125 && $decimal < 0.375: return $number . '¼'; # 188 ¼ &#188; case $decimal > 0.375 && $decimal < 0.625: return $number . '½'; # 189 ½ &#189; case $decimal > 0.625 && $decimal < 0.875: return $number . '¾'; # 190 ¾ &#190; case $decimal < 0.875: return ++$number; } } What are the better / diffrent way to do this? echo displayFraction(3.1) . PHP_EOL; # Outputs: 3 echo displayFraction(3.141593) . PHP_EOL; # Outputs: 3¼ echo displayFraction(3.267432) . PHP_EOL; # Outputs: 3¼ echo displayFraction(3.38) . PHP_EOL; # Outputs: 3½ Expand my mind!

  • Preg_match differences?

    - by sky
    Hi, i want to ask, what is the meaning or difference between these two line? if( preg_match_all('/\#([?-?À-ÿ?-??-?a-z0-9\-_]{1,50})/iu', $message, $matches, PREG_PATTERN_ORDER) ) { if( preg_match_all('/\#([?-?a-z0-9\-_\x{4e00}-\x{9fa5}]{1,50})/iu', $message, $matches, PREG_PATTERN_ORDER) ) { and what does the number 3 mean in this line? (Arrow pointing) if( preg_match_all('/\@([a-zA-Z0-9\-_\x{4e00}-\x{9fa5}]{->3,30})/u', $message, $matches, PREG_PATTERN_ORDER) ) { Thanks!

  • Zend_Db_Select: regrouping conditions in where clause

    - by pvledoux
    Hi, I would like to do something like this: $select = $myTbl->select() ->from('download_log') ->joinLeft(...... etc........ ->joinLeft(...... etc........ ->joinLeft(...... etc........); //Filter all configured bots (Google, Yahoo, etc.) if(isset($this->_config->statistics->bots)){ $bots = explode(',',$this->_config->statistics->bots); foreach ($bots as $bot){ $select = $select->orWhere("user_agent NOT LIKE '%$bot%'"); } } $select = $select->where("download_log.download_log_ts BETWEEN '".$start_date." 00:00:00' AND '".$end_date." 23:59:59'"); But the outputed query is not correct because of the orWhere clauses are not grouped together in a unique AND clause. I would like to know if it is possible to regrouped those OR clauses in a pair of parentheres. My current alternative is the following: //Filter all configured bots (Google, Yahoo, etc.) if(isset($this->_config->statistics->bots)){ $bots = explode(',',$this->_config->statistics->bots); foreach ($bots as $bot){ $stmt .= "user_agent NOT LIKE '%$bot%' OR "; } $stmt = substr($stmt,0,strlen($stmt)-3); //remove the last OR $select = $select->where("($stmt)"); } Thanks!

  • Payment gateways and XSS

    - by Rowan Parker
    Hi all, I'm working on a website which takes payment from a customer. I'm using Kohana 2.3.4 and have created a library to handle the payment gateway I use (www.eway.com.au). Basically I'm just using their sample code, copied into it's own class. Anyway, the code works fine and I can make payments, etc. The issue I have is when the payment gateway is returning the user to my site. The payment gateway uses HTTPS so that is secure, and it is sending the user back to a HTTPS page on my site. However I have the NoScript plugin installed in Firefox, and when I get sent back to the page on my website (which also handles storing the transaction data) I get an error message saying that NoScript has blocked a potential XSS attack. Now I understand why it's unsecure (POST data being sent across two different domains) but what should I be doing instead? Obviously during my testing here I temporarily disable NoScript and it all works fine, but I can't rely on that for the end users. What's the best practice here?

  • MySQL - Order results by relevancy, LEFT JOINS and more

    - by XaviEsteve
    Hi guys, I am trying to get some results ordered by total votes (where client votes count 2 points and other people votes are 1 point). tab_names: +-----------+ | Name | id | +------+----+ | John | 1 | | Paul | 2 | +------+----+ tab_votes: +--------+-----------+ | idname | ip | +--------+-----------+ | 2 | 127.0.0.1 | | 2 | 127.0.0.1 | | 2 | 82.23.5.1 | | 1 | 127.0.0.1 | +--------+-----------+ This is the MySQL query I've got but doesn't work: SELECT * COUNT(v.idname) AS totalvotes, (SELECT COUNT(v.ip) FROM tab_votes WHERE v.ip LIKE '$ip') AS uservotes FROM tab_names n LEFT JOIN tab_votes v ON n.id = v.idname GROUP BY n.name ORDER BY uservotes DESC, totalvotes DESC LIMIT 40

  • Creating a mobile version for my web app in CodeIgniter

    - by KeyStroke
    Hi there, I'm using CodeIgniter to develop a new web app, and I'd like to create a mobile version that users get redirect to when they visit it from their phones. The mobile version of the app should have a different flow, so swapping CSS/HTML files in the code is not an option for me since the mobile version and the web version will handle things differently in their Controllers and Views, while sharing the same Models. Anyway how I could do this efficiently? Your help is much appreciated. :)

  • Can I copy an entire Magento application to a new server?

    - by Gapton
    I am quite new to Magento and I have a case where a client has a running ecommerce website built with Magento and is running on Amazon AWS EC2 server. If I can locate the web root (/var/www/) and download everything from it (say via FTP), I should be able to boot up my virtual machine with LAMP installed, put every single files in there and it should run, right? So I did just that, and Magento is giving me an error. I am guessing there are configs somewhere that needs to be changed in order to make it work, or even a lot of paths need to be changed etc. Also databases to be replicated. What are the typical things I should get right? Database is one, and the EC2 instance uses nginx while I use plain Apache, I guess that won't work straight out of the box, and I probably will have to install nginx and a lot of other stuffs. But basically, if I setup the environment right, it should run. Is my assumption correct? Thanks for answering!

  • MySQLi Prepared Statement Query Issue

    - by Benjamin Flak
    I'm relatively new to MySQLi prepared statements, and running into an error. Take this code: $user = 'admin'; $pass = 'admin'; if ($stmt = $mysqli->query("SELECT * FROM members WHERE username='$user' AND password='$pass'")) { echo $stmt->num_rows; } This will display "1", as it should. This next piece of code though, returns "0": $user = 'admin'; $pass = 'admin'; if ($stmt = $mysqli->prepare("SELECT * FROM members WHERE username=? AND password=?")) { $stmt->bind_param("ss", $user, $pass); $stmt->execute(); echo $stmt->num_rows; } Any ideas why?

  • Does Flickr "Know" if a Hotlinked Image Does Not Link Back to Source?

    - by Michael Robinson
    From Flickr's community guidelines: "Do link back to Flickr when you post your photos elsewhere. The Flickr service makes it possible to post images hosted on Flickr to outside web sites. However, pages on other web sites that display images hosted on flickr.com must provide a link from each photo back to its photo page on Flickr." Our company currently allows image hotlinking for user-uploaded images. It turns out that this has been more popular than we had expected, and I would like to capitalize on this if possible. We will be altering the guidelines to include a clause similar to Flickr's, quoted above. As hotlinking costs us, both in terms of server load and bandwidth, we would like to get at least something out of it, other than merely a warm feeling inside. My question: Does Flickr "know" if a hotlinked image does not link back to its source? Bonus: if Flickr knows, how?

  • Why would a script not like using MySQLi but is fine with MySQL?

    - by Taylor
    I'm having some issues using mysqli to execute a script with SELECT,DELETE,INSERT and UPDATE querys. They work when using norm mysql such as mysql_connect but im getting strange results when using mysqli. It works fine with a lot of the SELECT querys in other scripts but when it comes to some admin stuff it messes up. Its difficult to explain without attaching the whole script. This is the function for modifying... function database_queryModify($sql,&$insertId) { global $databaseServer; global $databaseName; global $databaseUsername; global $databasePassword; global $databaseDebugMode; $link = @mysql_connect($databaseServer,$databaseUsername,$databasePassword); @mysql_select_db($databaseName,$link); $result = mysql_query($sql,$link); if (!$result && $databaseDebugMode) { print "[".$sql."][".mysql_error()."]"; } $insertId = mysql_insert_id(); return mysql_affected_rows(); } and heres what I changed it to for mysqli function database_queryModify($sql,&$insertId) { global $databaseServer; global $databaseName; global $dbUser_feedadmin; global $dbUser_feedadmin_pw; global $databaseDebugMode; $link = @mysqli_connect($databaseServer,$dbUser_feedadmin,$dbUser_feedadmin_pw,$databaseName); $result = mysqli_query($link, $sql); if (!$result && $databaseDebugMode) { print "[".$sql."][".mysqli_error()."]"; } $insertId = mysqli_insert_id(); return mysqli_affected_rows(); } Does that look right? It isn't actually producing an error but its not functioning in the same way as when using mysql. any ideas?

  • Sanitize Content: removing markup from Amazon's content

    - by StackOverflowNewbie
    I'm using Amazon Web Service to get product descriptions of various items. The problem is that Amazon's content contains mark up that is sometimes destructive to the layout of my web page (e.g. unclosed DIVs, etc.). I want to sanitize the content I get from Amazon. My solution would be to do the following (my initial list so far): Remove unnecessary tags such as div, span, etc. while keeping tags like p, ul, ol, etc. Remove all attributes from all the tags (e.g. seems like there are style attributes in some of the tags) Remove excess white space (e.g. multiple spaces, carriage returns, new lines, tabs, etc.) Etc. Before I go off trying to build my solution, I'm wondering if anyone has a better idea (or an already existing solution). Thanks.

  • Using CURL within a loop to download a file, 1st one works, 2nd one times out

    - by kitenski
    Morning all, I am using CURL to download an image file within a loop. The first time it runs fine and I see the image appear in the directory. The second time it fails with a timeout, despite it being a valid URL. Can anyone suggest why it always fails on the 2nd time and how to fix it? The snippet of code is: // download image $extension = "gif"; $ch = curl_init(); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, 90); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $imgurl); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION, true); echo $imgurl . " attempting to open URL "; $i = curl_exec($ch); if ( $i==false ) { echo curl_errno($ch).' '.curl_error($ch); } $image_name=time().'.'.$extension; $f = fopen('/fulldirectorypath/' . $image_name ,'w+'); fwrite($f,$i); fclose($f); I have put an echo in there to display the $IMGURL, to check it is valid, and upped the timeout to 90 secs, but it still fails. This is what I see on screen: http://images.eu-xmedia.de/thumbnails/34555861/5676051/pt=pic,lang=2,origfile=yes/image.gif attempting to open URL 28 Operation timed out after 90 seconds with 0 bytes received an empty file is created in my directory. thanks alot, Greg

  • How to handle multiple openIDs for the same user

    - by Sinan
    For my site I am using a login system much like the one on SO. A user can login with his Facebook, Google (Gmail openID), Twitter account. This question is not about specific oAuth or openID implementations. The question is how to know if the same user logins with different providers. Let me give an example: Bobo comes to site logins to site by clicking on "Login with Facebook". Because this is his first visit we create an account for him. Later Bobo comes to the site. This time he clicks on "Login with Google". So how do I know if this is the same person so I can add this provider to his account instead of creating a new (and duplicate) account. Can I trust solely on email? What is the best way to handle this. How does SO do it? Any ideas?

  • Executing javascript script after ajax-loaded a page - doesn't work

    - by Deukalion
    I'm trying to get a page with AJAX, but when I get that page and it includes Javascript code - it doesn't execute it. Why? Simple code in my ajax page: <script type="text/javascript"> alert("Hello"); </script> ...and it doesn't execute it. I'm trying to use Google Maps API and add markers with AJAX, so whenever I add one I execute a AJAX page that gets the new marker, stores it in a database and should add the marker "dynamically" to the map. But since I can't execute a single javascript function this way, what do I do? Is my functions that I've defined on the page beforehand protected or private? ** UPDATED WITH AJAX FUNCTION ** function ajaxExecute(id, link, query) { if (query != null) { query = query.replace("amp;", ""); } if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { // code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { // code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200) { if (id != null) { document.getElementById(id).innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } } if (query == null) { xmlhttp.open("GET",link,true); } else { if (query.substr(0, 1) != "?") { xmlhttp.open("GET",link+"?"+query,true); } else { xmlhttp.open("GET",link+query,true); } } xmlhttp.send(); }
