• Why doesn’t Office-applications get focus when run from another application on Win 2008?

  I have some different COM-Interop examples that when run on Windows 2008 (Office 2007) always open minimized in the task bar. On Windows 2003 or XP they open like I want them to. Has there been any changes to how Windows deals with this? Or to Office? I know that I can close windows with CTRL-SHIFT-ALT, and by that get them to start maximized next time, but for some dialogs this doesn’t work. Is there any way to make them always open maximized or on top? Any clues that could point me in the right direction would be helpful. I have tried with both our VB6 app and a test app in C#.

  I have a canvas element with a drawing in it, and I want to create a button that when clicked on, it will save the image as a png file. So it should open up the save, open, close dialog box... • How can I get my app ready for the iPhone 5

  Apple just announced the iPhone 5 with a 4 inch screen and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Of course, they only give developers two weeks to scramble to update their apps without being able to test. I'd like to update my app for the iPhone 5's new big screen, but there's nothing on Apple's developer site about the iPhone 5 or making your apps ready for a larger screen. It would be a pain to have to write my own logic for testing whether the device is an iPhone 5 and then displaying a custom storyboard file for it. Does anyone know how the new sizing works or if there are any hidden Xcode for this?

  I'm attempting to create an anti-bruteforcer for the login page on a website. Unfortunately, my query is not working as expected. I would like to test how many times an IP address has attempted to login, and also return the ID of the user for my next step in the login process. However, I'm having a problem with the query... for one thing, this would only return rows if it was the same user as they had been trying to login to before. I need it to be any user. Secondly, regardless of whether I use LEFT JOIN, RIGHT JOIN, INNER JOIN or JOIN, it will not return the user's ID unless there is a row for the user in login_attempts. • Hyphen and &nbsp; differences between Firefox and other browsers

  Firefox and seems to render a hyphen followed by   differently to other browsers. Here is some test code that demonstrates the problem: <html> <body> <div style="border: 1px solid blue;width: 50px"> This text can break. Do&nbsp;not&nbsp;-&nbsp;break&nbsp;this&nbsp;text. </div> </body> </html> Notice how in Firefox the second sentence does not break, but in Chrome and IE it breaks at the hyphen. Does anyone know a good workaround so that the break does not occur?

It does work if the span is hard coded into the page for example: <span title="text to populate" class="type">test</span> I'm guessing that the XML is not getting loaded into the DOM in the right way (or something like that) Any Ideas?

  I'm completely perplexed. I set the value of a hidden field with jQuery and the submit the form. The hidden value is present when I dump the $_POST array via PHP unless I use Internet Explorer. Here's the test code: $('#hidden-field').val('I am a hidden value'); // To make sure it's setting properly ... // This shows its being set in FF, Chrome, **AND** IE alert($('#hidden-field').val()); Then on the PHP side: print_r($_POST); For submissions made with IE the result looks like this: Array ( [hidden-field] => ) Other browsers have the value.   I need to convert a date and time into a timestamp with php. The following code shows what I'm currently using: <?php $date="2012-06-29 10:50"; $timestamp = strtotime($date); echo $timestamp; ?> However, when I test the timestamp in an online convertor (http://www.epochconverter.com), the resulting date is 29th June 2012, 8:50, or 2 hours previous. Is it possible that the strtotime() function isn't completely accurate and is just an estimate of the time? If so, are there better methods I could use for getting the exact time? Thanks.

• Advanced Registry Monitoring

  I'm attempting to create a small utility to watch for the creation (or modification) of a specific registry key, and to kill the process responsible for causing that registry modification. I have had success in watching the changes to the registry via a class called 'RegistryMonitor', however it does not give you any information on what process initiated the registry call, through some googling I found that a library called 'EasyHook' should be able to do what I want, but all the documentation states that its designed for a per-application hook. The program itself is a temporary security patch, until our vendors come out with an official security update. As best I can tell there isn't a way to do exactly what I want to accomplish from C#, which is the only language I can comfortable write, test and execute software in. Any help on this would be appreciated I'm considering watching the registry changes via the program I already have, then if the change is discovered (the pc is already infected) running RKill and locking down the PC to prevent the issue from getting any worse

  I am working on a PHP upload script and when testing my error checks, I attempted to upload a 17MB TIFF file. When I do this the $_FILES array is empty. The script works fine for what I need it to do, which is to upload JPEG files. My solution is to test if $_FILES is empty or not before continuing with the upload script. Can anybody explain why $_FILES is empty when a TIFF is attempted to be uploaded? Is my solution, to check if $_FILES is empty or not, an okay one? Does this have something to do with settings in php.ini?

  While optimizing a function in PHP, I changed if(is_array($obj)) foreach($obj as $key=$value { [snip] } else if(is_object($obj)) foreach($obj as $key=$value { [snip] } to if($obj == (array) $obj) foreach($obj as $key=$value { [snip] } else if($obj == (obj) $obj) foreach($obj as $key=$value { [snip] } After learning about ===, I changed that to if($obj === (array) $obj) foreach($obj as $key=$value { [snip] } else if($obj === (obj) $obj) foreach($obj as $key=$value { [snip] } Changing each test from is_* to casting resulted in a major speedup (30%). I understand that === is faster than == as no coercion has to be done, but why is casting the variable so much faster than calling any of the is_*-functions?

• Android Google Play Services Error whilst Connecting

  I am attempting to implement the Google Play Services into my Game to add a Leaderboard. However, whenever I try to connect, I get the following error message: I have correctly imported google-play-services_lib into my project, and AdMob is working perfectly. This error message comes up after it tries to login. The account with which I am logging in, is authorized as a Test account so that shouldn't be the issue. There are no error messages in the LogCat window either. All I got was that Error Message from the image. Project hierarchy : I am assuming that simply Extending the Activity from BaseGameActivity should handle everything for me right?

• Possible to get jquery .serializeArray() values out by key name?

  Hi I am using the jquery .serializeArray() function and I send it to the server and that works all good.However I need to update a couple things on the client side that are serialized. So instead of doing another selector on the textbox I want to just grab it out of the serialized array. I am not sure how to do this Product=Test&Qty=50 So say if I have something like this. I can I do something like this var sendFormData = form.serializeArray(); var val = sendFormData["Product"].value; but this seems not to work. I only can get it to work when I do something like this var sendFormData = form.serializeArray(); var val = sendFormData[0].value; I really don't want to do it by index since that means if the order changes the values could be all wrong. If you could do it by like keyname then that would not be a problem.
